Mitch McConnell concedes that he does not have the votes to defund Planned Parenthood right now. Suggests that if the next President is a Republican then he will.

Courtesy of the AP:

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., says Republicans lack the votes to halt the payments. He also says that standing in the GOP's way is President Barack Obama, who doesn't leave office until January 2017.

"The way you make a law in this country, the Congress has to pass it, the president has to sign it," McConnell said in an interview with Kentucky TV station WYMT recorded Monday.

"The president's made it very clear he's not going to sign any bill that includes defunding of Planned Parenthood," McConnell said. "So that's another issue that awaits a new president, hopefully with a different point of view about Planned Parenthood."

As you might imagine the conservative purists were very unhappy about this announcement and are now comparing him unfavorably to Democratic leader Harry Reid.

At this point I cannot imagine that I need to give any of you yet another reason to vote for the Democrat, regardless of who it might be, in 2016.

I do NOT care if you don't trust Hillary, I do NOT care if you think Bernie Sanders is un-electable, I do NOT care if you think Joe Biden is too closely tied to the failed war on drugs, and do NOT care what your reasons might be for refusing to vote for whoever else might be able to garner the Democratic nomination.

The facts are that if we lose the White House, we are going to have to once again fight over Obamacare, watch as conservative justices pack the Supreme Court, see yet another war started for no damn good reason, and now also watch as a program that literally helps millions of women get important information about sex, disease, and pregnancy crushed under the boot heel of conservatives just as it once happened to ACORN.

  1. Your final paragraph nails it. Ultimately, it's all about the Supreme Court.

I'm with you. How anyone could vote Republican is beyond me. They want to take the country back in time to Reagan which is beyond stupidity. They all claim to be such upstanding "Christian" people, but they act and think the exact opposite of what they supposedly espouse.

"At this point I cannot imagine that I need to give any of you yet another reason to vote for the Democrat, regardless of who it might be, in 2016." Did it for me, and you're absolutely right. We can't afford "one issue bullshit" and "apathy" at any time, but especially now.

OT Ted Cruz defends Kim Davis, the queen of cell block b. Never heard such wisdom fall from his lips before!

  4. Admittedly, I waited too long to start voting at all - after 30 - but I've never voted for a Republican in my life. And unless you can get in the booth with me, and press cold steel to my temple, I never will.

I wish all of the Democratic possibilities were a little younger, I like most everything I hear from Sanders, Biden has a statesmanship and eminence that is irresistibly admirable, but I think it's Hillary that has the 'star power' to take the worry out of matters. Not to mention that she'll bring much of Bill's good influence back in with her. Doubtlessly too, Obama won't depart without passing Hillary his inside line.

The way I see my duty is getting every young Democrat I know off his or her ass that fateful November Tuesday.

  6. You are so right Gryphen I cannot understand how so many people in our country can listen to the lies and distortions coming from the mouths of the GOP. It's plain ignorance. Each and everyone of us owe it to our families and those yet to come to not miss an opportunity to vote.

Exactly the Republican Taliban will spend four years trying to undo everything that has been accomplished in the last eight at the expense of the middle class.

There is never going to be a candidate that I can agree with 100% but is damn well won't be a republican. I don't want to hear people saying they don't like so and so and so I am not going to vote, stupid reasoning.

O/T Did anyone see Colbert on the CBS morning show? Jeb is going to be on the first show and apparently his campaign is raffling off tickets to those who contribute $3.00 to his campaign. ( I thought tickets were free, they must have grabbed a bunch to pack the audience)

Colbert made the comment, that he wasn't asked if this was ok and humorously added that he wanted a cut on the money.

OMG the rethugs are even ruining late night talk shows.

    1. Well, it was pretty much a given that late night mainstream network TV will kill all of Stephen's usual political humor and observations. His teeth are pulled. I just hope he'll still be able to work with the restrictions they'll place on him. If he chaffs, I'm sure Comedy Central will take him back. Probably to take over The Daily Show when the new guy bombs.

Jeb! is just as dumb as W. I suspect HE is the one who spread the rumor about being "the smart one" He even LOOKS stupid. Snott Walker has the same blank look on his face also, too.

And as for stupid looks, there is Ted Cruz who looks like he is afraid you will smack him one across his kisser, or, that he's going to start crying any minute.

The day after Obama was elected, my dearest friend in the world e-mailed me that one of us was happy that morning and it wasn't her. The day after the next election, I hope to get the same email from her.

On another note, McConnell should get in touch with Bristol ... he needs get a chin.

I lost a sister and a niece to the dark side. One is 50, no college, and scrambles for jobs. The other is 32, a single mom with a college degree in Texas, and she truly thinks Perry et al want her to be a success. Her 6 year old has no health care, and she spends her free time on FB supporting the Palins and the GOP. I can only hope she never voted.

What the HELL is in the water in Tex-Ass? I suspect either the people do not take voting seriously, since the very stupid keep electing the same crooks, or the good folks are so busy working they do not take time to vote. Same goes for Kin-Fucky, voting Mitch in time after time when he does nothing for the ordinary people.

    THE PERSECUTION HAS BEGUNNETH!!!!

Kim Davis Is In Jail, And Wingnuts Are Jizz-Crapping Their Pull-Ups In RAGE

CRU-CI-FY! CRU-CI-FY! CRU-CI-FY! Oh, we are just joshing, nobody wants Kim Davis crucified. (OR DO WE?) Wingnuts, though? Remember that time they lost their whole country in the span of a week, because gay marriage was legalized and the Confederate flag came down? Well, they’ve lost it again! NO COUNTRY FOR STUPID WINGNUTS, that’s what we like to say. And they are good and damn sure that a judge putting Kentucky clerk Kim Davis in jail for failing to do HER EFFING JOB is just the beginning of the persecution and the Holocaust and getting ISIS-ed right in their fundamentalist Christian shame buttholes. Because this is the sad thing about wingnuts: They think we care about them enough to actively persecute them. Awwww. The sad truth is that decent Americans are more than happy to abide these dumbasses in our midst, for entertainment purposes mostly, as long as they follow the law. How simple is that?

    Apparently not that simple.

eeeww is right! Why does the gop attract the homliest people, I wonder? Mitch was discharged from the army after 3 weeks, after an "incident in the showers" Imagine how the poor guy felt who was approached by THAT? I am sure Ms, Lindsey knows Mitch the Bitch very well!

He "married" the daughter of a rich Taiwanese man. Both got something out of that, Mitch got $$$, the father got connections in DC. Marriage of convenience, no doubt. A few years bacck, a yoing male aide of Mitch;s left to take a job a few blocks away from his office. Mitch CRIED when he announced the departure! Just like Boner, he bawled. Very, very telling, doncha think? His "wife" had a great, highly paid position in government also, too, so that was her consolation prize for marrying a closeted, ugly man.

  12. Right after he defunds Obamacare, right?

Where are the jobs, Mitch? Weren't you supposed to fix the economy and bring back a ton of jobs? Seems Obama is doing all the heavy lifting and all you do is try to take credit away from him.

I so miss Jon Stewart's Yertle McConnell imitation.

Mitch McConnell is a hateful man and it pains me seeing him in the U.S. Congress. Kentuckians need to have their heads examined for voting him into the position he holds.

Plus, he is a racist! He hates President Obama and the success he has been.

Thank God we have a steady hand leading our country. If any Republicans had more control we'd be at war and the poor would be poorer and hungrier.

Hopefully, we'll see his demise soon. Hell awaits him!
