Ted Cruz loudly rebuked by fellow Republicans while trying to hijack Senate vote on government funding.

Courtesy of Politico:

Ted Cruz can’t even get a protest vote in the Senate anymore.

On Monday night, Cruz’s colleagues ignored his attempt to disrupt Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell’s efforts to fund the government without attacking Planned Parenthood. In an unusual rebuke, even fellow Republicans denied him a “sufficient second” that would have allowed him a roll call vote.

Then, his Republican colleagues loudly bellowed “no” when Cruz sought a voice vote, a second repudiation that showed how little support Cruz has: Just one other GOP senator — Utah’s Mike Lee — joined with Cruz as he was overruled by McConnell and his deputies.

It was the second time that Cruz had been denied a procedural courtesy that’s routinely granted to senators in both parties. The first came after he called McConnell a liar this summer.

Cruz was incredulous on Monday, calling it an “unprecedented procedural trick."

“What does denying a second mean? Denying a recorded vote. Why is that important?” Cruz said. “When you are breaking the commitment you’ve made to the men and women who elected you, the most painful thing in the world is accountability.”

Actually McConnell IS being accountable to all of the Americans who are NOT lunatics fooled by those doctored videos into believing the government should shut down rather than help fund an organization that provides crucial health care services to women.

In fact recent polling shows that rather than slipping support for Planned Parenthood has in fact gone up. And this came as quite a surprise to Rep. Steve King:

Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa) was perplexed. Two long months had passed since the Center for Medical Progress started releasing undercover videos in which current and former Planned Parenthood employees described the grim economics of fetal tissue harvesting. Since then, a long congressional recess had come and gone and Republican-run states had redoubled their efforts to defund the family planning titan. Yet in the most recent poll from Reuters/Ipsos, 54 percent of voters still favored federal funding for Planned Parenthood.

"Those numbers are news to me," said King. "I haven’t paid any attention to the polls. But am I surprised? Yes. That would explain some of the reasons why the leadership is not committing to defund."

Exactly. Just because there is a very vocal group, with an obvious political agenda, losing their minds over a few doctored videos does not mean that the American people are quite so easily manipulated.

"What does denying a second mean?" It's a whup upside the head, asshole.

    1. If Cruz had a legitimate second and if it came to a vote, he'd be voted down anyway.

So either way Cruz is humiliated.

I see his numbers falling and him joining Scooter's loser parade sooner than later.

  2. Anonymous9:14 AM

Your numbers are down, Gryphen. Better hope Barstool whelps soon so youll have something to get folks talking about on this begging blog.

    1. Anonymous10:20 AM

Fuck you 9:14. G is doing great without you. Run along little troll.

    2. Piss off beanie hat.

    3. Anonymous10:30 AM

9:14, comments are always lower on non-Palin stories. We come here to rag on AIP PALIN, but read most other stories. We don't always feel the need to comment. By the way, c4p is dwindling in numbers, also too, so suck on that!
Gryphen, palinquake.com was hacked yesterday and some of its contents are still unavailable and palin4america was also compromised this morning! Apparently, someone is messing with pro-Palin sites! Can c4p be far behind!

    4. Seems rather pathetic to be reading blogs anonymously and gloating over the blog's numbers. Maybe you could spend your time productively so that you wouldn't feel the need to poke at someone else? Or maybe you could manage a blog of your own?

    5. Anonymous1:17 PM

Go take your meds little troll.

  3. I'm an eternal optimist and believe most Americans are sane and reasonable. But unfortunately the wingnut base of the Republican party turn out to vote. If we want our country back from the lunatic fringe then we must vote. Come on people, the numbers are on our side.

    1. We must vote in EVERY election, not just the presidential ones.

We need higher voter turnout and it needs to be at every election, no matter how "insignificant".

Our voter turnout is humiliating compared to some parts of the world where no only do they have higher turnout but risk physical harm or even death for voting, and yet they turn up at the polls and proudly show proof of casting their votes.

Cruz's face is just soooo, well, punchable.

Senators need to be careful stepping out on to the chamber floor today. The snake oil has oozed all over it.

He's really taking this "chosen one" crap from his father too far.

The problem with Ted's base is that all or nearly all believe in Jesus, and they haven't yet realized that Ted thinks he's the Second Coming.

The man has a Julius Caesar complex the like of which I've never seen before. He is a constitutional scholar, but he'd chuck the constitution right out the window if he had a chance to establish a Cruzocracy here in the USA.

Ted Cruz campaigns from the Senate floor, says Boehner should have left sooner

Sen. Ted Cruz did not intervene Monday on the procedural vote in the Senate to advance a stop-gap funding bill that includes funding for Planned Parenthood. After the vote, he tried to set up an amendment on both Planned Parenthood and the Iran nuclear deal, but a cadre of senators had stuck around on the floor to block him, leaving Cruz to complete his real mission—grandstanding and bloviating for his presidential campaign by beating up on outgoing House Speaker John Boehner.

It's going to be a long, ugly year for Congress

    1. It's a Groundhog Day scenario -- this year and every year...

New book out this week by Mann and Ornstein

"One of the two major parties, the Republican Party, has become an insurgent outlier — ideologically extreme; contemptuous of the inherited social and economic policy regime; scornful of compromise; unpersuaded by conventional understanding of facts, evidence and science; and dismissive of the legitimacy of its political opposition."

  18. I was told by my old country papa "Believe half of what you see, none of what you read". In light of falsifying videos, it is obviously now "None of either". Obviously, it is more important than ever that concerned citizens do their research, not just to get agreement with their own ideas but to validate even opposing ideas.

  19. Wow this hearing in the House today with the head of Planned Parenthood is just a travesty. So much grandstanding and theater for their addled-brained constituents. Chaffetz blaming PP funding killed his parents. Jordan just outright badgering her and talking over her. Utterly ridiculous. I have been so angry all day over this charade.

  20. Anonymous11:32 AM

O/T Republicans’ Manufactured Benghazi Probe Has Gone On Longer Than Watergate Investigation

Have you been trying to keep track of the various investigations that Republicans are spending your money on, when they are not giving it to oil companies to help subsidize them?

Well, you’ll be happy to know that Republicans’ manufactured Benghazi probe has now gone on longer than the Watergate investigation. It is the longest probe in Congressional history. It has cost more than 4.5 million of your dollars so far, and they’re just getting warmed up
ABC News pointed out the Watergate comparison:

As of Monday, the House Select Committee on Benghazi has been active for 72 weeks — surpassing the record previously held by the Watergate Committee in the 1970s.

“The Benghazi Select Committee has now become one of the longest and least active congressional investigations in history,” ranking member Elijah Cummings, D-Md., wrote in a statement. “The Committee has squandered the last 16 months and more than 4.5 million taxpayer dollars dredging up political attacks to impact the 2016 presidential election — a severe misuse of taxpayer funds and Congressional power.”

A probe into nothing has gone on longer than Watergate. Longer than any investigation into the Bush administration’s weapons of mass destruction propaganda. Longer than ignoring intel prior to 9/11.

This “investigation” is such a sham that Republicans have refused to allow witnesses to speak on camera, have never addressed their own defunding of security, have pretended to not believe the results of their own investigations that have shown this was a tragedy but not a conspiracy, and so much more.

This is your modern day Republican party– getting ready to shut down the government over Planned Parenthood so they can increase the abortion rate and investigating a non-issue longer than the very real scandal of Watergate was investigated because they desperately need something to throw at former Sec. of State Hillary Clinton.
