The Oath Keepers say that they are planning to protect anti-gay Kentucky clerk Kim Davis....from the judge. What could possibly go wrong?

Courtesy of Raw Story:

The Oath Keepers, an armed, camouflage-wearing volunteer militia famous for hunkering down at Bundy Ranch, now say they have “boots on the ground” to protect Kentucky clerk Kim Davis, who they believe was denied her right to a jury trial.

Davis, the elected clerk of Rowan County, has become the current celebrity of the anti-gay movement for staunchly refusing to issue marriage licenses after the Supreme Court’s Obergefell v. Hodges ruling in June legalized same-sex marriage nationwide. After defying the highest court and subsequent court orders to issue the licenses, a federal judge held her in contempt and jailed her.

In a teleconference uploaded to YouTube, Oath Keeper founder Stewart Rhodes discussed the operation with Kentucky sheriff Denny Peyman, Missouri Oath Keeper John Karriman, and West Virginia Oath Keeper Allen Landieri. The group claimed that their new mission had nothing to do with same-sex marriage and insisted they were only offering to guard Davis because the judge had acted illegally.

“People should consider her under our protection,” Rhodes says in the teleconference. “We’ll make sure that our people are keeping a close eye on the situation and we’re going have boots on the ground to keep watch regardless, because this judge needs to understand that he’s not going be able to just go grab this lady whenever he feels like it.”

So to be clear if the judge, an elected official of the court, sends the police, official representatives of the law, to arrest Kim Davis, an elected government official, the Oath Keepers, a bunch of overweight Rambo wannabes, are planning to stop them?

With force if necessary?

Oh this is not going to be pretty.

They're not fat. They're terrifyingly fit. The Mo "leader" is a trainer at a police academy. They are domestic terrorists. We have far more to fear from these creeps than ISIS. They are an absolute threat to national security.

Kim's current husband should keep a close watch on her. All she sees is "fresh meat"!! Will $carah be joining them, armed with her pink camoflage rifle? Bristles should go with her mother, now that she has dropped the baby weight, she can hunt for a new trial husband.

4:24 Did SP not say anything about B's baby 'cause it was a pillow trick to get her married? A joke on her part to get back at her mother? Did she miscarry? Did she abort? did she have it already?

You Palins and your babies -- it's all just a game with you.

Yup, it might be that Kim is looking for her next future ex-husband (and father of her adultery-produced children). She's a supah-stah! Why should she settle for some backwoods nobody when she's the current queen of christianity?

Scarah will go there to hunt for a husband for Brissy! There are no takers in Alaska!
Or MOH area of Kenfucky! Seem to be plenty of husbands for old kimmy tho...? And she is not a pretty woman either...

  4. As long as Kim keeps her ass at home let them watch her until she grows another prairie dress. I'm thinking other people will have something to say about armed assholes standing around the courthouse getting in the way of daily business.

Maybe Kim Davis needs to honor her oath...

Oath of Kentucky clerk and deputies:

Every clerk and deputy, in addition to the oath prescribed by Section 228 of the Constitution, shall, before entering on the duties of his office, take the following oath in presence of the Circuit Court:

“I, _____, do swear that I will well and truly discharge the duties of the office of _____ County Circuit Court clerk, according to the best of my skill and judgment, making the due entries and records of all orders, judgments, decrees, opinions and proceedings of the court, and carefully filing and preserving in my office all books and papers which come to my possession by virtue of my office; and that I will not knowingly or willingly commit any malfeasance of office, and will faithfully execute the duties of my office without favor, affection or partiality, so help me God.”

Witch part of upholding the U.S Constiution did she not understand when she was sworn into office?
The only reason for her to cling to her job, which she's not performing. is to make herself some sort of low-rent martyr. and to keep collecting her $80.000/year and benefits. which, I bet, mean more to her in hardscrabble Kentucky than any old Bible verse.
She should go on un-paid leave until this is all sorted out.

Unfortunately, 4:53, she is an elected official and cannot be fired. She would have to be impeached or removed via recall vote.i doubt there are enough people in that area willing to publicly disagree with her, regardless of their personal feelings or politics.

Or is she one of those gov't freeloaders that the GOP is always railing about? Inquiring minds....

Public opinion is very fickle. In another couple of weeks, the media and opportunists will be on to the next train wreck.

And I've heard that there is grumbling in her little town about all the hype and all the extra people who have descended upon them due to one idiot. Considering she seems to run her office as a dictatorship and is a serial cheater, I'm sure there are quite a few of her neighbors who don't like her much.

When everything dies down, if she doesn't decide to shut up and do her job, I wouldn't be surprised if she's impeached.

I'm sure there are lots of other people who would love that cushy job.

Kim Davis's pig-headedness is going to cost her country a lot of time and money by the time this is all over. She's not going to come out of this looking like any kind of hero to most of her neighbors, even ones who don't agree that same-sex couples should legally be allowed to marry.

If Kim Davis were 1) truly Christian and/or 2) truly a law-abiding citizen, she would politely but firmly tell the Oath Keepers to go away. If she has any intelligence at all, she would know that she was wrong and would not want her contrariness to lead to bloodshed.

This one is on Mike Huckabee whom, having no $ to seriously campaign this cycle, is shamelessly riding the latest 'Christian' outrage for the free media coverage. Including but not limited to saying things like "Dred Scott is still the law of the land". He's not really that stupid but his base is. And that's where the danger lies. He doesn't care--he's that callow.

    OK, so help me understand...

She said she doesn't want to sign the licenses and now she doesn't have to. She's not even a part of the process anymore.

Why is this still a thing?

I just read that one of the deputy clerks said he would issue the licenses even if she told him not to. I think somebody might be eyeing her seat for the next election.

    KDavis standoff = short term victory/gains;
KDavis Opponent for next election cycle = awesome footage, messaging, photos for campaign signs and videos

Definitely something to look out for next year.

I don't think Davis is ready to go quietly back to her shitty little office. She's getting bad advice from her lawyer and her ego's been stroked. She seems like a petty little tyrant. I think she's going to continue to cause trouble.

"She seems like a petty little tyrant." And a lazy one at that? I recall reading that someone had said "Kim won't stand for it & someone familiar with the office where Davis "works" said Kim wouldn't be standing for long, that she preferred sitting to standing.

So they are going to be her armed bodyguards? I don't think bringing your AR-15 into a government building is going to be well received, when she interferes and is re-arrested for contempt. This isn't a standoff over some scabby range land in Nevada, or holes in the ground in Oregon and Montana. It's about time these guys got the return fire they richly deserve.

  21. I live in Kentucky, about 40 miles from this fiasco. Most of the people in this area are embarrassed by Davis' behavior. Her husband dress and speech is a put on straight out of Hee Haw. If she is ordered back to jail, I'm sure the US Marshall's and KY State Police will be there to do it. The oath keepers will be standing around with their thumbs up their asses.

    3. She is Pentecostal. I know from personal experience from my teen years that the true Pentecostal believers are insane. Insane and complete hypocrites. The day I graduated from High School, the Pentecostal Church was having a revival (something they do every few weeks). Lots of scare tactic were used during the revivals. Pastor would say someone was going to die that night and go to hell if they didn't come to the alter and repent. It was like a cattle call going to the alter. The next night the Pastor would make a big deal that no one died. The sheeple ate it up. My family skipped my graduation due the fear they had of the Pastor. I left for the military two days after that and didn't look back.
