Ben Carson says that one cannot have morality without faith in God. How did this idiot become a doctor again?

Courtesy of Buzzfeed:

“Ultimately, if you accept the evolutionary theory, you dismiss ethics, you don’t have to abide by a set of moral codes, you determine your own conscience based on your own desires,” Carson told Adventist Review, the magazine of the Seventh-day Adventist Church of which Carson is a member for a 2004 cover story.

“You have no reason for things such as selfless love, when a father dives in to save his son from drowning,” Carson continued. “You can trash the Bible as irrelevant, just silly fables, since you believe that it does not conform to scientific thought. You can be like Lucifer, who said, ‘I will make myself like the Most High.’”

Have you ever read anything so stupid that you felt your brain start bleeding? Well I just did.

Actually the morality of the non-theist is far superior to that of the believer due to the fact that it is not based on the carrot and stick paradigm.

If you are a good person because you fear burning in the fires of hell for all eternity, or because you want to get rewarded with eternal life, then you are not a good person.

You are a selfish POS who is only doing the right thing so that your sky papa will spare the burning rod of hellfire and spoil you with everlasting life.

But wait Buzzfeed has more from a 2012 speech:

“Can you prove evolution? No. Can you prove creation? No. Can you use the intellect God has given you to decide whether something is logical or illogical,” added. Carson. “Yes, absolutely. It all comes down to ‘faith’ — and I don’t have enough to believe in evolution. I’m too logical!” (Hang on that made me choke on my spit a little. Okay let's continue.)

Carson said the consequences for accepting the theory of evolution would be an abandonment of the human moral compass.

“By believing we are the product of random acts, we eliminate morality and the basis of ethical behavior,” stated Carson. “For if there is no such thing as moral authority, you can do anything you want. You make everything relative, and there’s no reason for any of our higher values.”

God what a load of horseshit!

Morality has existed in one form or another LONG before Christianity, or even Judaism.  In fact it has existed long before religion itself, and even exists in the animal kingdom.

I cannot remember ever coming across a better example of a stupid smart person as Bill Maher has labeled these people.

Ben Carson reminds me of an autistic teenager who cannot tie his own shoes or remember his home address, but can flawlessly play Mozart's Piano Sonata No. 11 without ever having taken one piano lesson.

In other words he is an idiot savant.

And what's with him never opening his damn eyes?

When Ben Carson was working he did not accept Medicaid, which meant that poor children with neurosurgical diseases did not get treated by him. I wonder what his God thinks about that.

As an atheist I dare any Christian to have a higher moral code than me. I make sure whatever I actions I take do no harm to anyone else and that is my moral code (be the other animal or human.)

Dr. Ben Carson used fetal tissue in research. Does that make anti-choicers think he's moral? I wonder...

It's clear Carson has never given a single moment of critical thought to morality. And he doesn't seem inclined to do so. Which is fine, as long as he doesn't pretend to be an authority on the subject.

Carson reminds me of all those engineers, physicians, and math buffs who submit "answers" to cosmological problems to prestigious science depts. They all have the history changing answers but just lack the deep math training to prove it.

He will be eaten alive in a general election.

Ah yes. Shades of the Moral Majority. For you youngsters here, Jerry Falwell started the 'Moral Majority' and none other than the addled brained gipper himself, Ronald Reagan, embraced this vile piece of crap and viola! You have the modern Republican Party. The core message was that if you had morals, you had to be a Republican. Democrats were heathens and devil worshippers who had no morals. This train of thought still permeates through society. Sick, sad and wrong. I'm a lifelong Democrat, and u have morals. I just don't pick and choose them out of a book written thousands of years ago by people who thought the world was flat. I have a headache from all of this. I need a cold ass beer and a good college football game - go Gators!

I am a 'practicing" Christian for fifty some years now, and I have seen bigger morality out of those unlike me than those like me.

Every time I meet someone who proudly announces he/she is a "born again christian", I run the other way as quickly as my legs will carry me.

That group is dangerous. If they were truly born again, they wouldn't be bragging about that fact, they would be simply living their faith.

I have been "screwed" too many times by people who claim that status.

Poor Ben. Although he just confessed to being a mindless monster at his very core, I don't think he is one. Someone needs to shoo him off the political stage before he hurts himself.

      It's intentional.

Turn the volume down on any FOX host. Do the same with any other network host. The FOX host will always be more physically animated. It's part of their training.

People have always given more credence to how something is said rather than what is actually said. Baptist preachers have been capitalizing on this fact for centuries.

The right wing is bleeding out drop by drop...A New Jersey Republican candidate dropped out of the race after a book he wrote surfaced that includes rants against Jews, Asians, gays, immigrants, breast-feeding moms, sluts with helium in their heels and others. He’s a “Speak English” zealot whose writings reveal his spelling & grammar skills are not what he thinks they are. http://tinyurl.com/nczludk

In Florida a wrapped in the flag zealot, Augustus Sol Invictus (psst..Sol Invictus is an ancient sun god who was patron of Roman soldiers), whom is refusing to reveal his real name while running for the Senate, sacrificed a goat & drank its blood and posts incantations (with various accents) on his Youtube channel. He rants about ie: “the cult of the constitution.” http://tinyurl.com/n98egmd

The chairman of the Libertarian Party of Florida, upset that Invictus is calling for civil war, recruits neo-nazi’s and more has resigned to call attention to Invictus.

I was born into Judaism, born-again as a Christian, and am now an atheist. My morality has remained constant.

Ben Carson's Christian testimony is that he had an uncontrollable temper and was prone toward violence before turning to Christ. I guess it helps his ego to think everyone is as mean as he is.

And he just plain doesn't make sense.

Carson said you can't mesh the concepts of evolutionary theory and God. Simply not true. It's quite possible to believe that evolution was God's means of creation. What doesn't mesh is evolution and belief in the Bible as infallible, literal, and historic.

“You have no reason for things such as selfless love, when a father dives in to save his son from drowning,” Carson continued.

There is much ignorance in Ben's assumption.

Chimpanzees have been observed jumping into a river and drowning in an attempt to save another chimpanzee.

    1. Actually a father saving the son would be a genetic imperative, by the dictates of evolutionary thought, driven by the same dictate which leads us to breed in the first place.

I have posted this before and am convinced of it. This man has deep psychological problems and has used religion as therapy to numb his mind.
    "Anger Issues

Despite his academic successes, Ben Carson still had a raging temper that translated into violent behavior as a child. One time he tried to hit his mother with a hammer because she disagreed with his choice of clothes. Another time, he inflicted a major head injury on a classmate in a dispute over a locker. In a final incident, Ben nearly stabbed to death a friend after arguing over a choice of radio stations.

The only thing that prevented a tragic occurrence was the knife blade broke on the friend's belt buckle. Not knowing the extent of his friend's injury, Ben ran home and locked himself in the bathroom with a Bible. Terrified by his own actions, he started praying, asking God to help him find a way to deal with his temper. He found salvation in the book of Proverbs in a passage that went, "Better a patient man than a warrior, a man who controls his temper than one who takes a city."

I met Dr. Carson when he presented my niece a scholarship from his foundation. He is most definitely on the autism spectrum. (I teach autistic teenagers) Brilliant with his neurosurgery skills, but inept at social normalcies ....hence the strange half-closed eyes and the repetitive motions. This would also explain the issues with temper and fixation on the bible.
