Benghazi Committee Chairman Trey Gowdy busted by the CIA for falsely accusing Hillary Clinton of outing one of their agents in an e-mail.

Courtesy of Think Progress:

Trey Gowdy, the chair of the Select Committee on Benghazi, leveled a very serious charge against Hillary Clinton in an October 7 letter. Gowdy asserted that Hillary Clinton disclosed the name of CIA source in an email sent from her private server. Gowdy wrote that the information was “some of the most protected information in our intelligence community, the release of which could jeopardize not only national security but human lives.”

 Unfortunately for Gowdy this was not in fact true.

A letter from Elijah Cummings, the ranking Democrat on the committee, reveals that the CIA reviewed the email in question and found that the information in question was not classified.

Cummings said that Gowdy’s accusation was “irresponsible” and suggested he owes “an immediate apology” to Hillary Clinton.

In response, Gowdy acknowledged the CIA’s view but said that “the name of the alleged source was redacted from the material cleared for public release by someone in the Executive Branch.” Cummings explained that the name was redacted “not for classification reasons, but to protect the individual’s privacy and avoid bringing additional undue attention to this person.”

In my opinion Elijah Cummings is the MVP of this Benghazi Committee as he has busted the Republicans time and time again for suppressing information, making false allegations, and focusing the investigation on Hillary Clinton.

I imagine that if Trick or Treaters wanted to see Trey Gowdy scream like a little prison bitch all they have to do is show up to his house wearing Elijah Cummings masks.

And this is the week that Hillary herself is supposed to testify.

This should be a hoot.

    I won't apologize for being a "prude." Whatever the realties of prison life are, I don't think we need to use them as a simile in our writing: "scream like a little prison bitch." The fact that prison rape is a reality, and taken as a given by those of us who are "free," is a frightening development.

      I agree. Thank for posting. Come on Gryphen. You of all people. I think you should redact that line.

      Truth to public.

      Instead of crying about Gryphen's language, which will change nothing, propose something that will make Gryphen's statement no long true to conditions in prisons.

    "Scream like a little prison bitch"?

    Surprised you'd use such an expression. Prison rape is not a laughing matter.

    That said, I agree about Cummings being invaluable to truth and justice.

    The republican party needs to change their name to "tantrum-throwing toddler party."

    ============

    Hillary Clinton isn't president yet. She hasn't even won the Democratic nomination. But a Republican congressman is already getting ready for the opportunity to impeach her -- on the first day of her hypothetical presidency.

    Rep. Mo Brooks (R-Ala.) recently spoke with talk radio host Matt Murphy and said the real issue with Clinton's use of a private email server as secretary of state is "how many lives she put at risk by violating all rules of law that are designed to protect America's top-secret and classified information from falling into the hands of our geopolitical foes who then might use that information to result in the deaths of Americans."

    Brooks added Republicans are going to make sure this issue follows Clinton into office, should she be elected president in 2016.

    "And in my judgement, with respect to Hillary Clinton, she will be a unique president if she is elected by the public next November, because the day she's sworn in is the day that she's subject to impeachment because she has committed high crimes and misdemeanors," he said.

Top Secret is but one of several levels of classified information, not something separate from "classified information". How do you collect your Congressional paycheck in good conscience, you ignorant buffoon?????

    Trey Gowdy admits there were made redactions in a document that seemingly frames Hillary Clinton. Gowdy’s admission comes in response to the accusation by Rep. Elijah Cummings that contract what the CIA is saying about classified information. Cummings wrote, in part:

    To further inflate your claim, you placed your own redactions over the name of the individual with the words, “redacted due to sources and methods.” To be clear, these redactions were not made, and these words were not added, by any agency of the federal government responsible for enforcing classification guidelines. Predictably, commentators began repeating your accusations in even more extreme terms, suggesting in headlines for example that “Clinton Burns CIA Libya Contact.”

    Contrary to your claims, the CIA yesterday informed both the Republican and Democratic staffs of the Select Committee that they do not consider the information you highlighted in your letter to be classified. Specifically, the CIA confirmed that “the State Department consulted with the CIA on this production, the CIA reviewed these documents, and the CIA made no redactions to protect classified information.”

    Witnesses Disprove Benghazi Allegations Against Clinton As Republican Conspiracy Collapses

    http://www.politicususa.com/2015/10/18/witnesses-disprove-benghazi-allegations-clinton-republican-conspiracy-collapses.html

    Republicans Leveled By Bombshell Report That Clears Hillary Clinton On Benghazi

    Democrats on the House Select Committee on Benghazi have released a damning 124-page report that finds no evidence of wrongdoing by Hillary Clinton, but a mountain of proof that the Republican-led investigation is a partisan sham.

    According to the Democrat Staff Report on the Select Committee:

    In stark contrast to these baseless political attacks, the 54 individuals who have now been interviewed by the Select Committee have identified:

    – no evidence that Secretary Clinton ordered the military to stand down on the night of the attacks;

    – no evidence that Secretary Clinton personally approved or ordered a reduction of security in Benghazi prior to the attacks;

    – no evidence that Secretary Clinton pressed the United States into supporting the United Nations campaign in Libya under false pretenses;

    – no evidence that Secretary Clinton or her aides oversaw an operation at the State Department to destroy or scrub embarrassing documents;

    – And no evidence that Secretary Clinton or any other U.S. official directed or authorized the U.S. Mission in Benghazi to transfer weapons from Libya to another country.

    The evidence obtained by the Select Committee also corroborates previous testimony to Congress indicating that Secretary Clinton was deeply engaged during and after the attacks and took action to ensure the safety and security of U.S. personnel, even as intelligence assessments of the attacks changed more than once during this period.

    ...The report reveals that Clinton did nothing wrong and that the House Select Committee on Benghazi is nothing more than a partisan stunt that is designed to destroy the frontrunner for the Democratic nomination.

    The evidence is laid out over the course of 124 brutal pages. Republicans have lied to the American people about the purposes and intentions of this committee. House Republicans have wasted millions of taxpayer dollars on an investigation that is finding nothing new.

    Benghazi Chair: 'These Have Been Among The Worst Weeks Of My Life'

    Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-SC), the chair of the House Select Committee on Benghazi, said over the weekend that the accusations that his investigation is merely a partisan attack on Hillary Clinton have weighed on him.

    "I would say in some ways these have been among the worst weeks of my life," Gowdy told Politico in an interview published on Sunday night. "Attacks on your character, attacks on your motives, are 1,000-times worse than anything you can do to anybody physically — at least it is for me."

    Hillary Clinton isn't the only one with a lot riding on this week’s Capitol Hill hearing on the 2012 Benghazi terrorist attacks.

    The 12-member Select Committee on Benghazi is loaded with ambitious lawmakers from both parties looking for a breakout moment on the national stage with the Democratic presidential front-runner.

    More than half the Republicans serving on the panel have been mentioned as potential candidates to replace Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio). And the committee’s chairman, GOP Rep. Trey Gowdy (S.C.), is widely viewed as having a bright political future back home in South Carolina.

    Clinton’s Democratic allies on the panel include one declared Senate candidate, Rep. Tammy Duckworth of Illinois, and another potential one, veteran Rep. Elijah Cummings of Maryland.

    Here’s a look at seven members of the Benghazi panel who could shine in the spotlight during Thursday’s showdown.

  20. If they were smart, they would shut this down before Hillary testifies.

    She will squish them like bugs.

    By having her testify they are just handing their heads to her on a plate. And giving her a public forum to do it.

    Her numbers are going to go way up after that hearing. Sorta defeating the whole point of the hearing to begin with.

Bring down President Obama in 2012 and when that didn't work the entire focus shifted to 2. discrediting Hillary Clinton. It's Monicagate all over again.
