Bernie Sanders attracts crowd of 20,000 to Boston rally.

 Courtesy of HuffPo:

Massachusetts is feeling the Bern.

More than 20,000 of its residents turned out for a Bernie Sanders rally at the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center on Saturday, no small feat even in a Democratic-leaning state.

The Vermont independent senator who is campaigning for the Democratic presidential nomination appears to have broken a record for a primary candidate's audience in the state -- shooting past then-Sen. Barack Obama's rally of 10,000 people eight years ago, according to the Boston Globe.

You know sometimes you just have to sit back and say "Holy Shit!"

I mean the guy is now attracting larger crowds than Obama in 2008.

I didn't even think that was possible.

Then-Senator Obama was a fairly unknown Black guy from Chicago. Bernie Sanders is a well-know white guy. Of course Bernie will attract more of a crowd at CERTAIN VENUES than then-Senator Obama did in 2008.

Bernie Sanders wasn't "well-known" outside of Vermont until this past year.
He's polling very strongly in Iowa and New Hampshire.
Your "CERTAIN VENUES" (all caps are yours) makes no sense. Sure, he's pulled in huge numbers in somewhat liberal states, but his message is spreading beyond those VENUES.
Comparing him to any other candidate in the past works sometimes, and then it doesn't. This is a different set of circumstances in 2015, and he's a different candidate.

I went to Bernie Sanders rally in Phoenix where the attendance was over 12,000. When I told my Democratic coworker that I had gone to see Bernie Sanders and the size of the rally, she asked "who is Bernie Sanders?"

Democrats are not involved in the political process.

I think that's true of Republicans too. If you don't watch TV, take a newspaper, or have time for the internet, I'd bet a lot of people who vote GOP have no clue who Ben Carson is either. It's very very early.

There is a 'Republicans for Obama' grassroots organization with 7 members, according to their website.

There doesn't seem to be an official 'Republicans for Sanders' website, but the facebook page has 12,056 likes.

One thing that Bernie Sanders and Donald Trump have in common is neither is in anyone's pocket. That fact is very seductive to the masses. And, i'm not the only one who thinks Trump is an ass and Sanders is a saint. If i'm going to Just Say No to the oligarchy, i'm going to say it by voting for Sanders.

I don't trust Bernie's crowds, the Ron Paul types are there, there are other Republicans there, the Bernie fans claim it's a movement, I see them get nasty on Twitter like the Ron Paul freaks from the last election....

They're happy to get behind an Independent- Bernie's a nice, safe alternative to the RW crazies- but will they be happy enough to vote Democrat? I can't see it myself.

The word is Democratic, not "Democrat," which was a subtle, nasty invention of Fox News. Democratic when it's an adjective or adverb.
If you say "Democrat," than you should say "Republic," not Republican.

That would be true for any crowd. Not just Bernie's. That still leaves a LOT of people interested.

  6. I'm at work so can't really enlarge the photo but from what I do see? Very white crowd. Not much diversity going on there. I could understand that in Vermont and parts of New Hampshire - but Massachusetts? I don't believe that crowd represents the democratic party but it does represent the emo-progs that troll twitter.

I have nothing against Bernie Sanders and I believe he has a lot a great ideas. Mr Obama also had great ideas but, because of the make up of the Senate and Congress, he couldn't get a lot of what he wanted accomplished. The emo-progs vilified him for that. They also do not give him enough credit for what he has managed to accomplish with this do nothing congress.

I wonder if they would do the same thing to Bernie Sanders?

I have a feeling this guy is going to snatch the nomination away from Hillary, just like Obama did.

I still wish Joe Biden would run

Was in the Boston area on the weekend and the hotels were all booked solid, even in the outskirt areas up to NH. Bernie is a boost to the economy too!

A washed up quitter governor looks at this and feels a different kind of burn, remembering she could have drawn crowds like that IF she had run, and realizes NOT SO MUCH anymore.

Feeling both despondent and enraged she throws the CrunchWrap Supreme at the big screen SarahPAC bought.

After the shaking and drooling lessens she calls for another Red Bull and her ghostwriter.
