Here's a sight that puts a smile on my face this morning. Worker remove Ten Commandments monument from the Oklahoma Capitol grounds.

Courtesy of the AP:

A granite monument of the Ten Commandments that has sparked controversy since its installation on the Oklahoma Capitol grounds was being removed late Monday and will be transported to a private conservative think tank for storage.

A contractor the state hired began removing the monument shortly after 10:30 p.m. The works comes after the Oklahoma Supreme Court's decision in June that the display violates a state constitutional prohibition on the use of public property to support "any sect, church, denomination or system of religion."

The state is paying the contractor about $4,700 to remove the monument and take it to the Oklahoma Council of Public Affairs' offices a few blocks away, Office of Management and Enterprise Services spokesman John Estus said.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol had increased security around the monument earlier Monday, and barriers were erected to keep visitors from getting close to it. Estus said the decision to remove the monument under the cover of darkness was made to avoid disturbing workers at the Capitol and to keep protesters from demonstrating while heavy equipment was being used to detach the two-ton monument from its base.

Don;t care what people believe.

Don't care where they worship.

Just so long as their faith, and our government are kept separate at all times.

Until that happens across the board we will never be the country our Founders intended us to be.

  1. It's wonderful news but now while we gratefully watch this mistake go out one door, we get to worry, coming in another, this nonsense of them putting "In God We Trust" on cop cars.
    Oy.

Their persecution complexes, when the real people who are persecuted are Muslims. I actually had someone say to me, a Muslim shouldn't be potus??! I said why not? This is not a religious country? It doesn't matter what the religion is or NO religion...? She had to think and then agreed.
Mainstream news is brainwashing everyone into the "Xtian way".
      Its disgusting and despicable.

Good, now I wish they'd remove the religious war memorial from Oldenburg, IN government building and Batesville, IN court house.

The judge who ordered this installed should foot the bill for the removal.

Absolutely! Why does the state have to pay for any of it.

Well, if they wanted it gone, they'd have to since the pantywaist judge won't pay a penny to follow the court's order.

Hey, Gryphen! In Maryland, a Hindu woman was fired from a military dental office after her Christian Dominionist co-workers religiously harassed her by playing Christian music all day in the office, making her take Christian religious tests, and calling her a witch for meditating. When she complained about the harassment, she was fired. http://www.dailykos.com/story/2015/10/06/1428258/-Is-this-2015-or-1692-Woman-Accused-of-Being-a-Witch-Fired-from-Military-Dental-Clinic

The big irony is 'Thou Shalt Not Kill' ... Oklahomans are the most bloodthirsty killers, they're the world champion devisers of methods for the State to kill. They love killing their fellow Oklahomans. Ten commandments, my ass.

Doesn't matter even to a true Christ follower if they remove it.

His commandments are renewed in His own Words. Jesus said the first, to love God with all the heart soul strength, and the second commandment He gave was to love others as ourselves. Those two commandments from the New Testament in Jesus Christ's own command was a summation of all the OT commandments put together in One. Like, if we love others, we won't kill them, or cheat them, and so on.

The words of Jesus are etched in a true christian's heart and they aren't to brag or boast about it, but just show it in deeds. No monuments necessary. On the legalistic ritualistic religionists want God's love etched in stone made by man's hands. They are the talkers and only talk and make their phylacteries seen in the streets of men, like the hypocrites who wear their little cross chains, yet curse with the lips as they wear them.

There are too many that see prophecy and law in everything, including politics. As long as we have such a huge population of these people in the world, we will never have peace and harmony

I said they met. I don't know what they discussed. He may have told Netanyahu that they will be safe as long as they don't attack Iran. I don't know. But where is your link to cover what you are saying?

I'm way past wanting our government to support Israel. They don't need the money we are sending them and their leader is anti President Obama and the USA. He's said horrible things about both and needs to not be given a platform in our country via John Boehner!

I'm more than happy Boehner resigned as Speaker of the House in our US Congress! To my way of thinking he should be tried for treason activity!

Our government is a government of laws. Those laws are based on Judeo-Christian philosophy.

Mind showing me where secularism is a judeo-christian philosophy?

    2. Leland, secularism per se is not a particular philosophy, so your question doesn't have a specific answer.

Feel the bern's comment makes sense in practical terms. Murder, stealing, lying under oath and so on, are fundamentally wrong regardless of religious or secular perspective. That's part of the over-arching philosophy of humanism, which is neither religious nor secular.

That Christian monument had no place on the government grounds and it should never have been put there in the first place.

Remember, Oklahoma is a very, very red state and full of Christians that basically make me want to barf! It's more than high time they have to follow the rules of their state and country!!!
