Hillary Clinton thinks a gun buyback program is worth considering. That popping sound you hear are Ammosexual heads exploding all over the country.

Courtesy of HuffPo:

It's "worth considering" whether the United States should emulate Australia by instituting a national gun buyback program, Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton said Friday at a town hall in New Hampshire.

A man in the audience asked Clinton whether she thought it would be possible for the U.S. to enact such a program, and if not, why. Gun buybacks have happened at the metropolitan level in the U.S., but any effort at the national level would be sure to run into intense political opposition.

Clinton, for her part, seemed open to the idea.

"Australia is a good example, Canada is a good example, the U.K. is a good example. Why? Because each of them have had mass killings" she said. "Australia had a huge mass killing about 20, 25 years ago, Canada did as well, so did the U.K. And, in reaction, they passed much stricter gun laws."

Damn  Hillary is really throwing down on this gun issue, and I could not be more pleased.

Clearly she has decided that the NRA is going to go after her anyway, and that their members will never vote for her, so she is going to make sure they have a reason to dislike her.

Just for me personally that fact that she is taking such politically risky positions on guns, is making me like more all the time.

Go Hillary!

Would she have, without Bernie snapping her heels? She's got to get more radical than he is -- just like Jeb's trying to out-idiot-mouth tRump.

Me, too! I was lukewarm but the gun issue is becoming paramount to me--as well as PP.

  4. Bernie may have forced her to play her hand and admit she is open to gun control methods such as “gun buy backs, But, what we don’t know is if she will push for effective gun control measures once she’s in office

Unfortunately, the NRA is a powerful group with lots of money behind it. That’s money to spend against Hillary, and money to help other politicians who are against any type of gun control.

The far right evangelicals and others in the far right seem to be easily manipulated by emotions and not facts or logical thinking. Those are the people why buy what the NRA and the Republicans tell them without questioning any of it. That’s the sector of people the Democrats have to fight against. Cruz decided to suck up to them, and still is, so he can gain some votes.

Bernie's record on gun safety is right of Hillary's. Check his voting record on guns - very disappointing.

I never thought about a gun buyback, but it makes sense: get rid of guns, esp when people are desperate for cash. Pay enough for the guns so it's an offer few can refuse. And the money goes to folks who need it, who will spend it in their communities and create a little prosperity in exactly those neighborhood that really need some prosperity. Wow! To have Hill support this is fabulous. Sure, lots of resistance from NRA and pals, but there are MANY of us quiet ones who really really really want fewer guns in our society.

    Yessssssssssss!

We need an entire conversation about guns in all hands.

Two nights ago, a 17-year-old boy coming back from church basketball was shot nine times by a cop because he wasn't complying with his orders to get out of his car. You can find the details on-line. The police, as we know, go to their guns as their first line of attack. Nine times, into an unarmed boy, who'd flashed his brights at the cop to tell him that the cop's brights were on.

Start one now. Protest. Call Al Sharpton? or whomever it is that stands up for white people. Call what's his name to protest whenever police shoot unarmed white people at traffic stops. Do it now!

Do the Oathkeepers to that kind of work? Bundy ranchers?

My heart goes out to the family of the dead child.

  8. Off topic. As one who reads the comments at C4P, I’ve noticed a few things are happening. They are;

Daily comments left at that site have fallen dramatically lately.

The ones leaving the comments are the same usual small group of people (maybe 30 or less), and almost all of the comments are about politics in general and not about Palin running for President.

The recent Facebook comment Sarah left on her Facebook page about Obama got virtually no response from the main stream media.

Yep, I would say that Sarah’s days of grifting and of her trying to appear relevant are over. I will be eager to see what the next Sarah PAC financials will tell us, and it may be her last.

Funnily enough of those people at C4P ninety percent of them never donated to SarahPAC. They weren't interested in her supporting other candidates they were just waiting for her to run for office so they could actually give HER campaign the money.

It's like they knew the game all along and weren't going to play it until she put up, which she never did.

  9. I think it would be a great idea to stop the unending pipeline of assault weapons already coming before we do a buyback program. Self-defense, hunting, or target practice is one thing; the wholesale slaughter made available by assault weapons and mega-loads is uncivilized and unconscionable.

Require registration of every single gun including the ones already out there. Give them a few months to get in and register their weapons and after that reasonable time anyone caught with an unregistered gun goes to jail and forfeits that gun and any other in their possession. Second offense the jail time gets longer and third strike prison. Run this along with any gun buybacks that can be mustered. All ammo sales restricted to certified gun dealers and registered or recorded. Very similar to car registration and annual fees.

My SIL is retired AF and still interested in his gun collection but every single one of them is registered with his local police department. He only hunted animals in the days when he also intended to eat them and now is content with visits to his favorite gun range to keep his skills up. His long time membership in the NRA was cancelled last year when he began to chafe at the image that LaPierre was establishing for members. He is like many other responsible gun owners in this country who I don't fear some sort of gun control and they are the type who will follow laws to keep themselves and others safe. Those who kick, scream and rant just have something to hide from the authorities or have plans to use their weapons for crime.

    Why not complete the cycle?
Buy the guns from anyone willing to sell and resell the same guns to qualified buyers.

Interesting take on Hillary and her upcoming Benghazi testimony, Gryphen:

Decades of Hill Witness Time Prepares Clinton for Benghazi Moment

The year’s most important congressional hearing is at hand — not only because momentum in a presidential election is in play, but also because the legislative branch’s ability to conduct serious oversight is on the line.

On both fronts, the power to shape the public’s perception Thursday rests with Hillary Rodham Clinton. And, whatever else about her behavior and ideology remains open to passionate disagreement, this much looks clear: With a single glaring exception, she has made an exceptionally effective witness during her 29 previous appearances before Congress, dating back more than two decades.

All those times testifying as first lady and then as secretary of State, along with eight years taking testimony as a senator from New York and even her time as a young House Judiciary Committee lawyer during the Watergate era, have provided Clinton with significant benefits in preparing for one of the biggest moments of her public life.

At this week’s extraordinarily anticipated and rare public session of the House Select Committee on Benghazi, the only witness will have more experience than all seven of her GOP inquisitors in the unique dynamics of a hyper-politicized congressional set piece.

Panel Republicans are hinting they’re going to reveal important new evidence sure to put Clinton justifiably on the defensive. But her ability to rebut whatever gets put forward has been honed by all the preparation she’s had in the skills of parrying and posturing required for such a rarefied, must-see-TV hearing.

Changing Times: Democrats Talking Again About New Gun Laws

Democrats say support for new gun laws is broader and the politics of the issue have shifted enough to make the push for tougher measures a political winner.

Major Assault Weapons Case May Be Heading To The Supreme Court

The Supreme Court has so far resisted elaborating on two landmark decisions that established a nationwide right to defend one's home with a gun.

That could change with a new appeal filed by gun owners that challenges a Chicago suburb's assault weapons ban.

The appeal by Dr. Arie Friedman and the Illinois State Rifle Association argues that the City of Highland Park has violated their constitutional rights by banning some of the most popular semi-automatic guns in the United States, as well as ammunition clips of more than 10 rounds.

The justices put off consideration of the appeal last week. In recent years, the court has almost always deferred action on an appeal before agreeing to take it up.

The court could say as early as Monday whether it will hear the case.
