In news that is certain to frost Sarah Palin's hindquarters, it turns out that Americans love them some "death panels."

Courtesy of HuffPo:

Despite the best efforts of politicians like former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin (R), more than 8 in 10 Americans think it's just fine for Medicare and private health insurance companies to pay doctors for end-of-life counseling, a new poll shows.

According to survey results published Wednesday by the Henry J. Kaiser Family Foundation, 81 percent of respondents believe Medicare should pay for these discussions, and 83 percent think health insurance companies should do so.

Man I just love any news that is guaranteed to drive a certain batshit crazy half term governor out of her ever loving mind.

Looking at that picture has given me a new description of sarah, "crone".
Crone definition, a withered, witchlike old woman.
The haggard old woman who lives down the street in a ramshackle house, shaking her fist while chasing children out of her yard? You might call her a crone, ..

    2. I've used crone to describe her too! Also hag, battle axe, dipshit, halfwit, retard, grifter, snake in the grass, etc. But I have to say my favorite is what you long time IMers have so aptly used to describe her: Old Baldy

9:54, sorry, she's proven herself to look as ugly as she acts so I will continue to use the above terms to describe her. By the way I'm not running for president nor do I have a hatebook page, blog and instagram account set up primarily to take shots at the president, his family or anyone else that I don't agree with. So if I get pleasure out of calling a spade a spade leave me be.

Andrea Fay Friedman, 39, has Down syndrome. In addition to the "Family Guy" voice over, she has also worked on TV shows such as "Life Goes On" and "Law & Order" and gives motivational speeches around the world about Down syndrome.

Friedman said her "Family Guy" character should be inspirational to others with the disability. And she said the episode wasn't written to poke fun at Palin's son. It was designed to poke fun at the former governor.

Palin appeals to that constituency that is most willing to believe fantasy rather than what their eyes and ears tell them. They are the dupes of those know nothings that sell bs religion at the expense of necessity and what contemporary technology has to offer. Knowledge is necessary to navigate what life has in store for us and to relegate the role of medical professionals in providing that information to ignorant and malpracicing "clergy" is risking the comfort and serenity offered by the correct end of life decisions.

Back in May, the fruitcakes like TeresaAK, DeeDee, and STLouis the IX were predicting that, "oh, $arah will declare by July 4th, you just watch"

Then it was her anniversary, then it was the date of her 2008 pitbull lipstick stupidity speech.

Now she's actually missed a CRITICAL date for South Carolina, which is the 3rd primary, and they all just have forgotten all those other prayer based predictions for Queen Idiot.

Now they're saying, "Oh, she's so famous, and wonderful, that she can just run as independent, or she will be crowned in a brokered convention"

      Utter, total, Bullshit.

Quitter Queen Esther of the defunct Mary Glazier prayer circle is doomed to a life of grifting, lying, stealing, and extracting couch change from her tiny flock of addled brained scooter drivers.

I believe the true voters out there always have been rational and aren't the ones polled, as they are the ones with their heads down, working and keeping the economy alive. The polls we hear of today don't tell the real tale. Even those straw polls at conventions, or CNN polls on the top GOP candidates, always being Trump, holding out at 25%, is all about his entertainment value. I would bet the question asked is 'who is the most entertaining of the pack" and of course the answer is always the Donald. I do not believe my best buddies in the U.S. will throw us all to the lions with a Trump presidency in 2016.

I've wondered since she brought up the entire "death panel" meme whether she was a puppet repeating whatever she was told, or whether she really believed there were, or could be, "death panels" to decide the fate of the old or infirm.

Either way, it's startling. And I'm reassured that the vast majority of Americans actually want to be able to discuss this topic with their doctors, and that their doctors should be reimbursed for the time given. I've already had this talk, although I'm probably not going anywhere soon. Stlll, who knows? And I'm comforted that my wishes will be observed, and that I've been given adequate counsel by a trained physician.

The 3 big things EVERY mature adult needs to have on hand:

      1) Living will

      2) Power of Medical Attorney, assigned to a trusted child or relative, or even friend who can make the decision for you if you are incapable of deciding on medical care.

      3) DNR (Do not resuscitate) This provides legal proof that you don't want "extraordinary" measures to save you in a Terry Schiavo stupor state

Despite the lies of the religious right Christians, these documents are NOT anti-Jesus, they just reflect your own personal wishes, so that a religious fanatic like Jeb Bush or Daniel Webster (R-Florida) doesn't make your medical decisions for you and your family.

It was never originated with Sarah, it was Betsy McCaughey who started it way back in the days of Clinton and she resurfaced with it with the ACA. Then Beck and Limbaugh picked it up. Sarah is the one that made it 'popular' with the right wing. Here's the whole story:

False ‘Death Panel’ Rumor Has Some Familiar Roots

...Ms. McCaughey, whose 1994 critique of Mr. Clinton’s plan was hotly disputed after its publication in The New Republic, weighed in around the same time.

She warned that a provision in the stimulus bill would create a bureaucracy to “monitor treatments to make sure your doctor is doing what the federal government deems appropriate and cost-effective,” was carried in a commentary she wrote for Bloomberg News that gained resonance throughout the conservative media, most notably with Rush Limbaugh and the Fox News Channel host Glenn Beck.

The legislation did not direct the coordinator to dictate doctors’ treatments. A separate part of the law — regarding a council set up to coordinate research comparing the effectiveness of treatments — states that the council’s recommendations cannot “be construed as mandates or clinical guidelines for payment, coverage or treatment.”

But Ms. McCaughey’s article provided another opportunity for others to raise the specter of forced euthanasia. “Sometimes for the common good, you just have to say, ‘Hey, Grandpa, you’ve had a good life,’ ” Mr. Beck said.

The syndicated conservative columnist Cal Thomas wrote, “No one should be surprised at the coming embrace of euthanasia.” The Washington Times editorial page reprised its reference to the Nazis, quoting the Aktion T4 program: “It must be made clear to anyone suffering from an incurable disease that the useless dissipation of costly medications drawn from the public store cannot be justified.”

The notion was picked up by various conservative groups, but still, as Mr. Obama and Congress remained focused on other matters, it did not gain wide attention. Former Senator Tom Daschle of South Dakota, an advocate for the health care proposals, said he was occasionally confronted with the “forced euthanasia” accusation at forums on the plans, but came to see it as an advantage. “Almost automatically you have most of the audience on your side,” Mr. Daschle said. “Any rational normal person isn’t going to believe that assertion.”
