Joe Biden will NOT be running for President.

"Hah! Fooled ya!"
Courtesy of AP:

Vice President Joe Biden will not run for president in 2016, he said Wednesday, ending a months-long flirtation with a third White House campaign and setting him on a glide path toward the end of his decades-long political career.

Biden's decision finalizes the Democratic field of White House candidates and likely bolsters Hillary Rodham Clinton's standing as the front-runner by sparing her a challenge from the popular vice president.

Biden announced his decision in the Rose Garden, flanked by President Barack Obama.

Good we can finally put an end to this bullshit and get on with choosing an actual candidate to defeat the Republicans in 2016.

Sorry I know a lot of people really wanted Biden in the race, but I always knew he was not going to jump in and found all of the speculation just irritating and distracting.

I think that it made Biden feel good to have so many people begging him to run, and nobody can fault him for wanting that to last awhile, but ultimately it was all a waste of time and energy.

I think he was being pushed by his supporters, and I for one, am glad that he chose to end his career on an upbeat note and focus on his family now.

I want Bernie to win. But if he doesn't get the nomination, I'm hella voting for Hilary. I hope people don't make the mistake of not voting just because their chosen doesn't get the nomination. After all, my second choice is still MILES better than any of the republican options. Keep them out of the white house.

Alaska's 3 electoral votes will go for the republican nominee regardless of who I vote for. Still I'll vote for whomever is the Dem nominee, just for good form.

9:35 AM Not necessarily true! Aren't you noticing that things are a changing in Alaska?

Anchorage - the largest city in the State of Alaska - just elected a Democrat as their Mayor.

And, Lisa Murkowski almost lost her race last go around and I expect her to have more than a difficult time this next go around (and hopefully, she loses!).

Plus, our new governor and lt. governor ran together as an Independent and a Democrat and won!!!

You cannot say that it is an automatic the the electoral votes will go for the Republicans.

I see a major change occurring and hopefully, the majority Republican Alaska Legislature will see many of their positions changed to a Democrat or Independent in the next election cycle.

Republicans have run the State of Alaska into the hole and they are being looked at much more closely.

A good start would be getting rid of that woman from Eagle River - Anna Fairclough (got married and forget her new name)! She has been hiding from the press for quite awhile now and knows folks are going to come after her.

    4. Yes, 11:19, re your comment on 9:35's defeatism.

We just had an election in Canada that had the third-placed Liberal party win by a landslide.
It is possible -- especially when the party in power (in Congress) is so regressive like Harper was and you need to vote him out.

Harper is stepping down as leader of the Conservatives and Canada's 70% progressive population is breathing a huge sigh of relief to get rid of the man and his Draconian practices. He is not how Canada rolls, believe me.

One of the Liberal men running for Minister of Parliament (MP) called or knocked on doors to personally talk to 48,000 people. He won.

If you don't like the party in power, work as a volunteer to get rid of them. One vote isn't enough.

I figured he wouldn't run as well. The media frenzy was ridiculous and if anything, it made him not want to be subjected to their constant stalking of even his grandkids playing.

VP Joe Biden not running for 2016 POTUS opens the door for Gov Sarah Palin to run against Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

Gov Sarah Palin always wanted to compete and debate against the Democratic 2016 POTUS frontrunner Hillary Clinton.

WE HAVE A GREAT CHANCE TO PUT A REPUBLICAN INTO WHITE HOUSE AND EVENTUALLY HOLD A WHITE HOUSE WEDDING FOR FIRST DAUGHTER BRISTOL PALIN

LOL! Your snark is brilliant today.

The truth is the turd that is Sarah doesn't have the balls to run for anything and her heyday is long over. If she were EVER to be on a debate stage with Hillary in some alternate reality, Hill would chew her up and spit her out in a heap on the floor without even thinking about it. Sarah is the most impotent, weak, useless, lame, broken down piece of human filth that this country has seen in decades and she will continue her putrification and rotting for the foreseeable future, because that is the Karma that she has evoked.

I really would have been shocked if he had decided to run. I think his son's last request, and the media attention to it, put a tremendous amount of pressure on him to throw his hat in the ring, but you could tell his heart wasn't truly in it.

The campaign for President is a brutal one under the best of circumstances, and, after the many years of selfless service he has given our country, I believe he deserves time to heal and enjoy life out of the spotlight's glare.

When the economy crashes, the poor and middle class pay double their current taxes so the tax breaks for the rich and corporations can be increased, the environment is trashed, the education system is turned back to the 1800s and only children from wealthy families can afford to attend private schools run by churches, the military is stretched beyond their limits as we dive into 2-3 new unwinnable wars in the Middle East, the rights of women and minorities are decimated, the Supreme Court is ruled by the Tea Party for generations, and we're all forced to follow the ruling candidate's particular version of the Bible, I hope you feel satisfied that your lack of vote hurt Hillary Clinton.

    Thank DOG!

I was so worried that all he was going to accomplish was the tarnishing of his own reputation/ruining his legacy. Biden's support of banks because he's from Delaware and the part he played in the prison industrial complex would have been poison for a campaign. Plus, his tendency toward gaffes, touchy-feely-ness with near strangers, etc...all of it would be too much liability to make it past the early states. Don't get me wrong, I love Uncle Joe, but he's 20 years and a great recession past his prime. But, he's a good guy with a good heart and I'd hate to see him attacked.

Good. His flirting with a possibility of a run was distracting at best.

Joe had a very serious blow to his emotions with the loss of his son. That goes without saying. HOWEVER we need a president who can put aside the emotions and get on with doing the toughest job in the world.

Though I have liked Bernie for years, I believe Hilary is the one who can actually do the job. She is thought to be cold and emotionless - we need a leader who leads with their intellect, not with their emotions.

"Doting mom Bristol fools around with her six-year-old son Tripp"

Considering that there are few other photos of Tripp in the article, this seems like an intentional poke at Bristol and the convoluted, suspicious history of her maternity.

Republican National Committee Chairman Rinse Your Prius is using Biden's announcement as the opportunity to deliver stand-up comedy.

Republican National Committee Chair Reince Priebus, who continues to remain in that position for unknown reasons, was lightning-quick with a press release explaining that Vice President Joe Biden deciding not to run for president was TERRIBLE NEWS FOR DEMOCRATS, YOU GUYS.

" The Vice President’s decision not to enter the 2016 race is a major blow for Democrats, who now will almost certainly be saddled with their unpopular and scandal plagued front-runner Hillary Clinton," said Chairman Priebus.

I like Joe Biden, but he was clearly in no shape for this after the death of his son. Why the fan dance, though? Why not just say it instead of stringing it out for so long and inviting all the scrutiny and obsessive reporting? And that statement about his supporting the bin Laden raid that directly conflicted with is prior statement that he opposed it was really off-putting. Glad it's over.

I think they played the whole "will he run" bit out for a little attention, but he was never going to run.

I saw some article about how one of our faves, William Kristol, had made a prediction that Biden was absolutely, positively going to run for president. It is just another republican attempt to create dissension among the Democratic candidates.

I think the Democrats just decided to run with it for a little while, and then Biden would opt out and make Kristol look like an idiot again. Mission accomplished.
