Was Ben Carson lying about being witness to a robbery at a Popeye's Chicken? Do we really even have to ask?

Courtesy of Daily News Bin:

Ben Carson claimed this week that he was once held at gunpoint at a Popeye’s chicken restaurant in Baltimore, and that he survived by telling the gunman to go focus on the cashier instead of himself. If that story isn’t disturbing enough on its face, the idea that he acted so selfishly and is now bragging about it, Carson may have another problem: the Baltimore Police Department says it can find no record of the supposed incident.

While numerous Americans have been robbed at gunpoint at some point in their lives, Ben Carson has had a difficult time getting mainstream Americans to believe his story. The primary reason: he’s made so many absurd statements about everything from slavery to the Holocaust to magic cancer cures to his disbelief in gravity, that many are unsure whether anything he says can be taken at face value. That prompted the media to try to confirm his story.

In response to numerous questions from the media the Boston Police tweeted this:
Of course that is not enough to call the man a liar, however take a look at what the Daily Beast uncovered:

When The Daily Beast reached out to Carson’s “business manager” and central advisor, Armstrong Williams, he said that Carson had personally told him the story, and that it also appeared in Carson’s 2006 book, Take the Risk.

There is no story about a stickup at Popeyes in Take the Risk.

Gregg Lewis, a co-author of Take the Risk, told The Daily Beast that he and Carson never discussed the incident during his work on three autobiographies with the neurosurgeon.

Three autobiographies and NO mention of having a gun stuck in his ribs?

You know I have had some fairly interesting events happen in my life (I am not sure three autobiographies worth however.), and I am pretty sure that being involved in a stickup would probably rate inclusion in a conversation about the highs and lows.

Now of course none of this matters as Republican voters have demonstrated time and time again that they place little value on the truth. However for the rest of us, this is yet another example of the type of deeply flawed candidate that seems to impress the average conservative.

(Snopes has even more for those who are still on the fence.)

I have no idea how long he has been a Seventh Day Adventist, but those guys are vegetarians. Even if he went to Popeyes for French fires, it seems to me that a devout one of those would avoid fries at a chicken place. He is a liar.

I hope he's not lying, because if the best lie he could come up with was a story where he callously threw a fast food cashier under the bus to save his own ass, then he's clearly unqualified to be a Republican nominee for President. They expect big, bold UUUuge lies! Mission Accomplished!!

Forget him and concentrate on the cashier!!!???????

That's one of the most cowardly, disgusting things I've ever heard.

Is this guy presenting himself as some kind of heroic figure, worthy of imitation?

I don't think he is lying. I think the robber was a toddler with a squirt gun.

Ben Carson should probably see a brain surgeon to look into having his own self properly hooked up right. I don't know what it is, but that man is missing something and he needs to get checked out.

Ben Carson is a Seventh Day Adventist. They are committed to healthy eating and are vegetarians. Popeye's? Ben, heart healthy diet or gun in the ribs....He always looks like he needs a good plate of food with some spice. He seems like a weakling. Low energy makes JEB look like the pink bunny.

There is something very wrong with this fellow. He is at the very least a pathological liar.

What's so weird is that he would invent a story that makes him look so bad. Not the bright bulb in the pack.

Good points regarding why a presumed vegetarian would be in a fried chicken joint.

If the story is true (ha), he shows himself to be a callous cowardly chickenshit willing to throw someone else into the line of fire to protect his worthless self.

If he made the story up, well then he is a lying liar telling lies.

    Either way, presidential material? No.

Maybe the cops misfiled the report, he used to go by "Big Ben and the Gheri Curl Crew, perhaps you remember his hit "Pants on Fire Hammer Time?"
The man's a fricking brain surgeon, why does he have to lie about something he needs to bolster his argument? Whatever the case, he's proven himself unfit to serve as potus.

I thought that Carson was a vegetarian. What's he doing eating chicken? It's meat.

Carson said that he always carries a gun. Why didn't he rush the shooter? His remark to the robber that he wanted the guy behind the counter was a way of putting some one else's life in danger. As a doctor, he is supposed to be for saving life, do no harm. He set some one else up instead of disarming the robber. "Hey, everyone. This guy wants to rob me. He can't rob everyone. Let's get him."

Carson is on record as being a vegetarian since 1990. When was this robbery supposed to have taken place?

Daily News Bin messed up the story. Carson didn't say he was in a 'Popeye's chicken restaurant.' He said he was in a 'Popeye's organization.' Same place but the semantics are the 2nd best part of the story.

Another Carson statement related to guns and the UCC shooting isn't getting any news coverage and it's important to understand the man's callousness.

“As a doctor, I spent many a night pulling bullets out of bodies. There is no doubt that this senseless violence is breathtaking — but I never saw a body with bullet holes that was more devastating than taking the right to arm ourselves away. “

    1. In my experience (over 30 years as a RN), when doctors say the word body, they're talking about a dead person. And why would a neurosurgeon spend nights taking bullets out of anything but a brain anyway? As always, he's just trying to make himself look good, and failing, as usual.

Ben Carson Falsely Claims Founding Fathers Would Have Rejected Muslim President

At the National Press Club on Friday, Ben Carson jumped back on his anti-Muslim bandwagon, claiming that the Founding Fathers would have rejected a Muslim for president. Yes, they put Article VI, the “no religious test clause” into the Constitution, but he thinks there is some wiggle room there in between “no” and “religious test.”

All he had to do was jump inside the Founding Fathers heads and invent some history. It’s all in a day’s work for a conservative, since genuine history won’t serve their purposes. To an audience member’s question about whether a Muslim could be loyal to the Constitution, he answered,

“A good understanding of the Constitution answers that question for you. Because when you look at the Article II, and we’re talking about requirements for the president, they have to be a ‘natural born citizen.’ Now why is that the case?”

Because of course, a Muslim can’t be an American citizen. You have to wonder if Carson even hear’s himself speak. Muslims are born in America every day. But he wasn’t finished expounding on his imaginary America:

    BREAKING!

A Republican, who formerly served as an investigator for the House Select Committee on Benghazi, confirmed that his GOP bosses are conducting an illegal investigation for partisan political purposes that is targeting Hillary Clinton

    http://www.politicususa.com/2015/10/10/republican-whistleblower-confirms-gop.html

The investigator in question, Bradley F. Podliska, is a major in the Air Force Reserve, and he claims in part that his firing was due to the refusal of Repulbicans to take his reserve commitment seriously when he was sent to Germany for 39 days.

He began working for the Benghazi committee in September 2014. He is no slouch. The Times details that he is “a lifelong Republican, holds a doctorate in political science from Texas A&M University.” According to the committee, he was “terminated for cause…in part, because he himself manifested improper partiality and animus in his investigative work.”

I knew something was amiss with Ben Carson, something that just is off. The man comes off as being in a world of his own, as if he's on some drugs that make him groggy.

As far as this story being true or not, I hope they call him out on it and vet this guy. He has no personality. He is robotic and his slow almost slurred speech is disturbing, and some could see it as a drug addiction, maybe painkillers?

Carson gives me the willies! How could he have been an outstanding doctor? Who actually stated that information and how was it derived? I've never seen anything factual backing up his 'supposed' greatness in the medical field.

I know he would not be someone I'd go to for medical help much less vote for him! He's been caught in lies and really weird statements in the few months he's been on the public stage! I don't trust him at all!

He eludes creepy vibes! Don't know how else to say it!

I just knew he was lying about the Popeye's incident! Over twenty years ago, I was a witness to a murder and I can still recall every minor detail. One does not easily forget a major incident and even a laid-back brain surgeon should have provided a better recollection of the incident. If it is somehow true, then Dr. Ben Carson is a coward of Alpine proportions.

  17. I've often wondered if Carson has Asperger syndrome. A person with Aspergers can and often will have an above average intellect but also be lacking in social skills. He seems to have a hard time communicating and he seems to genuinely lack empathy. That would explain that while he's an excellent surgeon he's also an idiot about everything else. My husband can take apart and rebuild any kind of motor but (no offense sweetie) he's not qualified to be president. It's really depressing to think this moron has any supporters at all.
