Woman with conceal carry permit opens fire on shoplifter in Home Depot parking lot. Well I certainly feel safer.

Courtesy of Detroit Free Press:

Police confirmed on Wednesday that a concealed pistol license (CPL) holder was not being threatened by a fleeing shoplifter when she decided to fire multiple shots at him in a Home Depot parking lot.

And experts interviewed Wednesday doubted the shooting could have been justified.

The shooting happened in the store’s parking lot at around 2 p.m. Tuesday, when Home Depot’s store security was chasing a shoplifter who jumped into a waiting dark SUV driven by another suspect, said Lt. Jill McDonnell, an Auburn Hills police spokeswoman.

But when the SUV began to pull away, the CPL holder, a 48-year-old woman from Clarkston, suddenly began firing shots at the fleeing vehicle. The vehicle escaped, though one of the bullets may have flattened a back tire, McDonnell said. Police are still seeking to identify the suspects, who made off with more than $1,000 in merchandise.

The shooter remained on the scene, cooperated with police, and was released pending an investigation. But gun safety experts say the shooting details that have been released so far don’t look great for the shooter.

I think somebody needs to go back for a refresher course in when not to fucking start firing your gun around  shoppers in the Home Depot parking lot.

To recap, a shoplifter took some things without firing a single shot to endanger others, and in response a conceal carry lunatic filled the air with lead to enforce justice and promote freedom.

Gotta love that 2nd Amendment.

I know that area. We lived in Clarkston for three years. White, upscale, and oh so entitled. Also very very Republican. I was glad to leave Oakland County.

If this woman does not face jail time, then I will be very disappointed.

I hate to think about leaving this country, but I might have to when I retire.

I feel the same way about leaving when I retire.

Saw this yesterday and the article pointed out how no charges have been filed. Really, Calamity Jane throws a bunch of rounds around a Ho.e Depot parking lot and they aren't sure if they will charge her?

  4. Go read Stonekettle Station, Bang Bang Crazy series. I was particularly impressed with the guy in Texas who jumped out to 'save' a guy getting carjacked at a gas station. This hero, like the Home Depot nut, jumped out and fired his weapon. Unfortunately, he shot the victim in the head and the car jackers took off with the victim's truck. So, what does out hero do? Hops back in his vehicle and gets the hell outta there leaving the victim bleeding on the pavement. Boy, I feel so much safer knowing these folks are on the job protecting my freedom. (Sarcasm, people.)

    1. Anonymous7:41 AM

You left out the fact that before he got the hell outta there, he policed his brass so no evidence was left behind.

    2. Anonymous7:46 AM

There was talk down here that if the truck owner had died, they could try the carjackers for murder since he died during the commission of a felony, even though neither of them did the shooting.

from what I heard, this woman is "connected" to important people in the community, and won't be charged with ANYTHING.

Bet if she was homeless, black, or Muslim she'd be in jail waiting trial on several felonies

If anyone has any more info on this, I'd be happy to hear she's being charged with at least reckless endangerment

If we had decently responsible gun laws, she would lose ALL her firearms, and be banned for at least 10 years from having any more

  6. Anonymous6:02 AM

What if someone in the parking lot, not aware of the shoplifters, sees this woman aiming and shooting at a car across the lot? What if he is an "American Hero" too and decides to pull HIS weapon out and shoot HER?

We are going to live just like in the good old wild west again, gunslingers roaming the streets and shootouts are commonplace.

    1. Anonymous8:04 AM

Except in the Old West, gunslingers checked their guns with the sheriff when they came to town, before they went to the saloon and got sloshed. At least the fights were with fists (and bottles.) Nowadays, we can't even expect them to register with anyone at all, or we're trampling on their 2nd amendment! I say, trample away! Come on, Mr. President, start taking those guns!

    2. Even in the old west they didn't have shootouts willy nilly.

Unlike today, they were responsible gun owners.

  7. Anonymous6:03 AM

So, she just pulled out a gun and started firing ? With no regard for innocent bystanders that might have been downrange ? And she won't face any charges ?? You gotta be kidding me !

I remember a story exactly like this from a few years ago. Someone grabbed a phone from the phone store and ran to a waiting car, and some concealed carry dipshit dropped to one knee and started firing on the car as it sped away down a city street.

In that case I believe the guy was actually arrested. The thing these nitwits don't consider is that the bullets that miss the target are going to stop somewhere, maybe someone else's car, maybe a store or house window, maybe a child's head. Not to mention the danger posed by the driver of the car panicking and possibly losing control and hitting a bystander.

This is what you get when you arm dipshits and foster their fantasies of "taking down a bad guy". Stupid woman probably thinks she's a hero.

There ARE laws against what this old Ramboette did. What she did is illegal. Will they enforce them? No, They will not. Why should they waste time and money to pass new laws when they refuse to enforce the laws that are already in place?

Every single time a child is murdered with a gun the owner of that gun should be charged. Are they? Almost never. That's when we hear about how sad the parents are and how they have suffered enough. Bullshit! Enforce the laws that we have or dissolve them. What good are they if LE won't enforce them?

Really sick and tired of our selective laws. Even though they are written for all, they only apply to some people. The great American shootout. Ye-haw! Come join the free for all.

Cops looking to Identify the shoplifters, but careful to protect the identity of a dangerous gun slinger. Amazing!

  11. Anonymous7:22 AM

Judge, Jury, and Executioner. Since when is shoplifting a capital offense?

    1. You beat me to it! Exactly what i was going to say. We are allegedly a nation of laws. Someone suspected of a crime is entitled to trial by a jury of their peers and if convicted, sentences that are not cruel and unusual, etc.

This woman took it on herself to deprive these suspects of their constitutional rights. She also decided that being in possession of a gun gave her the unilateral right to decide who was guilty of a crime, the right to decide that it was a capital crime, and the right to impose capital punishment.

It's getting harder and harder to tell the difference between the good guys and the bad guys. :-|

    1. If they're not a duly deputized representative of our local, state or federal government and they're shooting a firearm outside of a designated shooting range or rural area with a valid hunting license and tags, then they're a bad guy.

    Guns fails.

    Something must have gone wrong.

"JOPLIN, Missouri — Authorities say a 13-year-old boy has been taken into custody in southwest Missouri in the shooting death of a 12-year-old girl."

Google also suggested I might be interested in a Joplin story from last year.

    "JOPLIN, Mo.

A coroner has ruled the shooting death of a 3-year-old Joplin girl was an accident. "

Check out the reason for that! Accident because

"Her 6-year-old brother was in the room with her but Bridges told the Joplin Globe that he can’t say definitively who shot the girl. He says he can only rule that she did not shoot herself.

Sheriff Ken Copeland says a loaded handgun was in the room where the children were playing. "

The population of Joplin is 50,000 so like Jeb! says: "stuff happens." Repeatedly.

Also: Joplin is Sarah's kind of place!

"Sarah Palin to give speech for anti-abortion group masquerading as a sex and pregnancy resource center. Sarah Palin will visit Joplin at the end of September to talk about her experience having a child with disabilities. "

For less than a grand of stolen merchandise, crazy armed woman goes postal and puts everyone in danger. Call 911, take the license number and let it go. Who died and crowned her "God"?

Don't feed the trolls!
It just goes directly to their thighs.
