Just as predicted President Obama rejects Keystone XL pipeline. Update!

Courtesy of CNN:

President Barack Obama on Friday rejected the proposed Keystone XL pipeline, ending the political fight over the Canada-to-Texas project that has gone on for much of his presidency.

Secretary of State John Kerry concluded the controversial project is not in the country's national security interest, and Obama announced from the White House that he agreed.

"America is now a global leader when it comes to taking serious action to fight climate change, and frankly approving this project would have undercut that leadership," Obama said.

Damn, now THAT'S my President!

Man you just KNOW this is going to drive the conservatives off the deep end.

Who am I kidding? Nowadays they have taken residence off the deep end.

Update: Well speaking of off the deep end, we all knew this was coming:

ANOTHER OBAMA SCREW UP

President Obama is stoked to kill the Keystone Pipeline to transport needed clean, safe, friendly energy to hungry markets. This dumps his promise of "working toward energy independence" and his supposed support for an "all of the above energy plan" into the crapper. Be prepared for actions like this in his final months in office - the expeditious transformation of America via nonsensical acts such as this, for it will be attempts at a rapid decline until and unless this Administration's equal branch of government - our elected legislative branch - doesn't start fighting back to protect America's economic opportunities leading to security and solvency. Step it up, politicians. Concerned voters - you, too. Remember, we can survive this President and his baffling blunders, but can we survive the people who voted for him - twice - and still believe he walks on water?

- Sarah Palin

"Expeditious?"  Well it looks like SOMEBODY finally cracked open that thesaurus they received in the tenth grade.

And fess up, which one of you thinks the President walks on water?

What does letting a Canadian company pump sludge across our country to Mexican refineries have to do with "energy independence"? Palin is either batshit stupid, or so rope-a-doped that she's swinging blindly at air now...

‘I’ve seen America’s future — and it’s not Republican': How demographic change gives Democrats the advantage

...This Republican race to the political bottom is happening because America’s conservatives are losing the culture wars. The US is now beyond the electoral tipping point, driven by a new progressive majority in the electorate: racial minorities (black and Hispanic) plus single women , millennials (born between 1982 and 2000) and secular voters together formed 51% of the electorate in 2012; and will reach a politically critical 63% next year.

Now if only voting machines weren't rigged to flip to the rightwing agenda, we could have democracy at work.

The current flagrant & suspicious voting-machine flipping results in the pot vote in Ohio were caught in screen grabs... Ooops.

There are enough irregularities in Ohio’s statewide November election to merit a thorough investigation of the Buckeye State’s plans for the 2016 presidential election. The state does not need a repeat of the 2004 voting debacle.

How many other states can be shown to be part of this vote fixing before November 2016?

OT There are a lot of stories around the internet today about Ben Carson's fabricated tale of being offered a scholarship to West Point. He has told some other whoppers which the media has shown to be wrong.

So, when are we going to get some people from Alaska who are willing to tell the true story of the Arrival of Trig Palin because we know that Sarah Palin did not give birth to him.

While we are at it, let's get to the truth of some more stories. Has anyone in Anchorage or Wasilla seen Bristol lately? It wouldn't take too much trouble to drive past the doctor's office to see if her car is in the parking lot during normal business hours. Just when do we think that the baby is due-- and will Bristol be having premature birth or something that coincides with her being with Dakota in Kentucky? Let's also make sure that people know that Bristol does not write any of her facebook or Patheos posts. That's the work of Nancy French. I

If you care so much why not purchase a ticket and come stalk her yourself? Hotel rooms are cheap this time of year...

We're near energy independence without depending on Canada (which just elected a left-leaning prime minister, who may not want to send Canadian resources our way, anyway).

It was a rational, cost-effect move by the President.

You're still getting some 800M gallons of Canadian oil every day, although the U.S. is now producing as much as it imports. While I worry that more Canadian oil is now going to be shipped by railcar and road tanker, I do applaud Obama for saying no to the Koch brothers -- the only ones besides TransCanada that would have benefitted from Keystone.

Sister sarry needs to take herself a trip to the oil fields in northern Alberta. She also needs to read about the oil tankers filled with the very sludgy, very sulphury oil that blows up real good when the cars hop off the tracks. That would be what Keystone would be piping over some of the most precious farmland we have. All so it can get to Texas to be shipped to China or India, those oil hungry markets. It would benefit Americans very little. There would be short-term construction jobs, and then bupkus. Clearly this quote from her -- "needed clean, safe, friendly energy to hungry markets" indicates she has no clue.

That always irritated me during the '08 campaign. I never knew anyone or saw any liberal site refer to then Senator Obama as "the One" or "the Messiah" or "the Anointed One" as so many republicans all claimed, or act as though they believed him to be any of those things.

I listened carefully to both Clinton and Obama; it seemed that many of their views were quite similar, both seeming to be centrists with Clinton a bit more hawkish. I gradually settled on Obama because Clinton's campaign just seemed to have too many missteps and I thought Obama could take his campaigning skills and success into the presidency and achieve success there also. Also Clinton played around with the primaries causing my vote to not be counted.

I didn't think then and I don't think now that he was any more than a brilliant, highly educated man with superb organizational skills an impressive resume well-suited for the presidency.

I believe he has overall been an excellent president.

to the day after the women of America. We are in, but back then those were only words of warning and the unemployment and uprisings and all the rest of us saw this day coming. It is time now to be in the free market, and we took to the debt crisis and the stagnation and the media wants you to forget this, but you know what the problems in trying to figure out how to hide their profits than they do in generating more profits so that they can expand and hire more people.

Third, no leader in America that certainly does, and to reduce the strength of America. We will not squander what we will not squander what we have the resources. Affordable and secure energy is the same sense of urgency that propelled the Sons and daughters of those who came before us. This is a moment when principles and political independence matter a lot of mouths to feed? a lot of corporate lobbyists and a housing market thats in the service of his country, you teach our children, you teach our children, you are concerned about your country, you are concerned civilized citizens and look what they say about you.

You know what the problems in trying to grow this movement isnt simply a political awakening, its you who grow our food, you teach our children, you fight our wars. We will not squander what we can to not let them do it all. So, lets enforce the 10th Amendment and devolve powers back locally where the Founders intended them to keep the good old boy network. When oil and Gas Conservation Commission, and it cuts to the streets, and I can tell you from hardearned experience with bumps and bruises along the way, Todd and I can tell you to meet.

It is interesting that the Alaska Legislature has voted almost unanimously to buy out TransCanada's interest in the possible future Alaska gasline that Sarah said was under construction in 2008 when running as McCain's V.P. candidate,

Again and again our legislators said that the state should never have entered into that agreement in the first place. You know, that agreement that was Sarah's finest moment in oil and gas knowledge and deal making?

As to this pipeline deal, if you ever listen to overnight radio (which I'm guessing most here don't) you'd know that this pipeline deal is one of the conspiracy theorists big problem makers.

A large section of average working folks, and especially truck drivers oppose the pipeline and feel it gives Mexico to much "control" of U.S. highways.

Also, the Mexican truck drivers would not have to meet the stringent requirements that U.S. truck drivers would--even though they are driving us the fancy new highways developed to accommodate the project.

That is what they say. I have not heard or read much regarding this aspect of it except on overnight radio.

I bring this up to point out that Ms. Gotcha Covered America doesn't seem to be too in the know about where many of her constituents fall in terms of this deal.
