Juneau Mayor found dead in his home.

Courtesy of Yahoo News:

Greg Fisk, the mayor of Juneau, Alaska, has been found dead at a home in the city, police said on Monday.

Police responding to an emergency call found Fisk, 70, and pronounced him dead at the home in the state capital, Juneau's police department said in a statement. Alaskan media reported he was found dead in his own home.

A police spokeswoman said an investigation into the "unattended death" was underway but said she had no further information on the cause or circumstances of Fisk's death.

Police said a man, who they did not identify, made an emergency call on Monday afternoon to report a deceased person inside a residence.

I know that a lot of you are interested in this story since you sent it to me at least four times so far.

As it turns out James Brooks, a reporter from the Juneau Empire, is also a Reddit user and this is what he shared late last night:

The Juneau Police Department is sending Fisk's body to Anchorage for an autopsy to confirm a cause of death. That will take several days.

There are a lot of rumors floating around social media that say he was killed in an assault. Fisk's closest neighbors heard no such thing, and police are awaiting the results of an autopsy.

Fisk's body was discovered by his son, who began shouting and called for help.

Fisk did not die of suicide. There are no links to a recent double murder in Juneau. There were no signs of a break-in.

Deputy Mayor Mary Becker will serve as acting Mayor until a special election can be held to fill the mayorship.

I would urge everybody to keep the conspiracies to a minimum as the police work the case.

I will update this story as more details emerge.

Don't assume that a 70 year old who looks healthy cannot die of a heart attack or stroke.

    2. Anonymous6:53 AM

Healthy looking 70-yr old men have heart attacks and strokes all the time, and die from all sorts of other reasons. I knew a very healthy 40-yr old woman (a "jock") who died suddenly one night due to some sort of drug interaction associated with prescription meds she'd been taking for a shoulder injury. Sh*t happens.

Seventy years old? It is reasonable to think first of a sudden cardiac event or stroke.

      Delete
    10. Anonymous9:52 AM

Except there is plenty of evidence (photographic, witnesses, anecdotal, conflicting statements) to cause doubt that Sarah Palin gave birth to Trig. There is zero proof that she is his biological mother - and to settle matters once and for all, she won't even provide his birth certificate, even though she has falsely claimed that she has. There are plenty of reasons to doubt Palin's story about being pregnant with/giving birth to Trig, because the story simply does not add up.

OTOH, there is no reason yet to suspect the mayor died of anything but natural causes.

      Delete
    11. Anonymous10:20 AM

Pretty hard for Sarah to have been pregnant with Trig since she had a tubal ligation after Piper...

      Delete
    12. Anonymous11:59 AM

The bottom line really though 9:52, is Sarah Palin has zero obligation to provide you or anyone else the 'proof' you so desire. Zero. You say 'to settle matters once and for all'... settle what 'matters'? The 'matters' in your little pea-brain? As far as Palin is concerned, there are no matters to settle, why should she care what you want?

As far as evidence goes, there is as much anecdotal evidence that she is the mother, as much as she isn't. So you have nothing besides what you have swallowed from your blogs.

I don't think the kid is hers either, but at this point, it really doesn't matter. And it never will.

Alaska sure has it's quota of mysterious deaths for a small population. If this 'investigation' is done by the same State investigators who have special allienges to certain people, then who can really know who is telling truth or lies?

Wasn't there a story of an Alaskan coroner who was giving out false autopsy results?

Thank you; he would have. Our little community has been shook to the core recently from the epidemic heroin overdoses, double homicide and now the death of a great Alaskan who had such good visions for Juneau's future. When JPD suggests the death was suspicious is cause for some to begin to speculate, especially since two young people were murdered in our town just last month. We are all hoping foul play had nothing to do with his passing.

Whenever Mrs. Palin and her baritone challenged husband are hinted at having carried out some cloak and dagger type nefarious deeds which included arson and capitol murder, I am reminded of the hackneyed plot device of a brilliant serial killer a la Hannibal Lechter when of course almost most of these murderers are found to be dull and ordinary save for their penchant for dispatching strangers. Unless I'm very wrong these two chowderheads couldn't orchestrate a jay walking caper, it would confound them. Their rise to prominence or infamy is the result of the dumbest fucking luck in recent memory and their slide into irrelevance and low comedy was predictable and inevitable.

Actually, I'm a socially conservative Republican who voted for Sarah Palin in 2008 and disagrees with Gryphen on most issues. The majority of people here wouldn't even want me for a friend. But I like to read from a variety of perspectives. And I actually do understand the Left's charges of hypocrisy regarding Sarah Palin, and especially toward Bristol. The Palins are an embarrassment to conservatism and the time has come for the conservative movement to admit this and ask the whole family to refrain from speaking in the name of any conservative values. Being willing to help the Palins in private doesn't mean we should still publicly associate them with any of our causes or political groups. It is time for conservatives to act with dignity and self-respect and admit the obvious: the Palins are a dysfunctional family and our association with them was a huge mistake from day one.

I remember a young guy I went to college with that died in his twenties. He was married, had just gone for a job and came home and sat on the couch. His wife came in to call him to dinner and he was dead. Heart attack.

My brother was 55 when he had a heart attack and he's plenty fit. Turns out he also had several clogged arteries.
