A Muslim girl was attacked at her New York middle school by three schoolmates who referred to the girl as a terrorist organization and tried ripping off her religious garb, INSIDE EDITION has learned.
The sixth grade girl, whose identity IE is withholding, was playing during recess when three boys allegedly went after her on November 19 at P.S. 89 in the Bronx, a school source who spoke on the condition of anonymity told IE.
The boys, who are in the same grade as the girl, allegedly put her in a headlock and punched her as they tried to take off her hijab, the source said.
While beating up the girl, the boys also allegedly called her "ISIS," the source said.
Gee, I can't imagine what kind of things in the news these days might inspire such anti-Islamic hatred.

DeleteMany Muslims go to our school, play on sports teams with my white Jewish kids, play in the band, etc. I can't imagine this happening in our school because the population has been diverse since kindergarten. But who knows? Who knows who is going to be incited by hearing this shit over and over again? This is worse now than after 9/11. My kids were in pre-school then and are now preparing for college as high school seniors. That this issue should be dominating their senior year is like the other bookend to their school years. Ironically o e of my sons is attending a World Affairs Forum today at Temple University from his World Affairs Club where they will be discussing counter-terrorism in today's corporate culture. Should be very interesting especially today!

Trace it back. One of those bullies has a parent or older sibling that planted the idea. Then he got his bully buddies to help him.
This is an incidence of ZERO TOLERANCE that should get all three suspended for at least three days. They should not be allowed back to school without a parent conference first. Depending on their behavior record it might even be grounds for expulsion as a hate crime.
And the rabid right will come out of the woodwork to defend these rancid pustules and attack both the girl and the "libruls" in the schools.

I work at a major University with a large international student body. I fear for my Muslim students, especially the females with head scarves and burkas. They are just like the rest of the students, bright young kids who are trying to learn and find their way in life. I hate that they have to fear being assaulted at any time. I would venture that many a university, public and private, balanced their budgets on the full tuition of international students, a large percentage from the Middle East, during the recession. What happens to them if Trump gets his way?

We have a mosque in our area, and the fear is palpable because idiots are riled up with graffitti, breaking windows, tossing pig heads, etc and desecrating their houses of the holy. Life is a lot different now, and my heart breaks because folks who have been good neighbors, kept to themselves, don't know what to do with their eyes when they approach on the street. They've been by far, most tolerant and accepting of my atheist family. You can cut the awkwardness on both sides in the air with a knife.
