Grand jury indicts anti-choice activists behind doctored Planned Parenthood videos.

David Daleiden
Courtesy of The New York Times:

A grand jury here that was investigating allegations of misconduct against Planned Parenthood has instead indicted two anti-abortion activists who made videos of the organization.

In a statement, the Harris County district attorney, Devon Anderson, said Monday that the director of the Center for Medical Progress, David Daleiden, had been indicted on a felony charge of tampering with a governmental record and a misdemeanor count related to purchasing human organs.

Another center employee, Sandra Merritt, was indicted on a charge of tampering with a governmental record.

The Center for Medical Progress had covertly shot videos of Planned Parenthood officials discussing the provision of body parts from aborted fetuses for research. Mr. Daleiden, 26, had posed as a biotechnology representative to infiltrate Planned Parenthood affiliates and surreptitiously record his attempts to procure tissue for research.

Ms. Anderson said in the statement that grand jurors had cleared Planned Parenthood of any wrongdoing. She did not specify in the statement what record or records were allegedly tampered with.

You know sometimes justice does prevail.

This is great news and I look forward to Mike Huckabee, Sarah Palin, Carly Fiorina, Fox News, and many other conservatives to come out an apologize to the American people for misleading them about these videos.

Oh who am I kidding, these people will NEVER take responsibility for their actions.

Tired of this OT stuff that posters think is important enough to interrupt the current blog post for, but not important enough to actually IDENTIFY so readers have at least some inkling what it's about first!

However, if I were going to question (i.e., doubt) her about this, I would wait to see how well she does go after them. She can still "Botch" the prosecution.

They'll never apologize to the American people, but you'd think if they had a scintilla of conscience, they'd apologize to the families and friends of those killed, injured, or traumatized by Robert Lewis Dear, who shot up the Colorado Springs Planned Parenthood Clinic because "baby parts."

Bristol Palin belongs in that hall of shame as well. She allowed her name to be used to promote those vile videos and to falsely rant about PP selling fetal tissue.

    Fuck you, Ted Cruz.

They can't add perjury to David Daleiden's counts? I hope Planned Parenthood sues for monetary compensation in civil court too.

May it all come to a head right before the elections and may more of these right wing nutjob liars and hypocrites be exposed as the trial continues.

6:44, I would be willing to bet they will continue even after the courts order them to stop. We're dealing with fanatics here. They don't CARE about the courts!

As for suing them out of existence? Nope. Not gonna happen. There are too damned many fanatics willing to THROW money at them to cover any fines or judgements. It's the MOVEMENT that needs to be forced to recognize this is a secular country and to do that, we have to have the non-fanatical religious population to speak out against them, too.

Someone here has been posting that Jordan has been seen skiing at Alyeska. Chuckie Heath posted the other day:"Taking the wife and kids down to Alyeska tomorrow to ski and unwind. It's been a long week. They say God never gives you anything you can't handle... but sometimes, He gets pretty close" The whole family buying Jordan's silence? Chuckie wants everyone to feel sorry for the family. Just regular people, when life gets tough you go to a ski resort. Sickening.

  25. A poster on Crooks & Liars is saying the news outlets are reporting on this with Daleiden's claim that his activities were protected under .... the First Amendment rights of journalists (?) ... or something like that. Anyone know if that could actually hold any water? I was thinking "no" because ... when did he ever claim before this that he was a journalist? And then I thought that those protections only applied to those who were seeking to uncover the truth, and I think it is very clear they went in with intent to commit fraud and lie about what Planned Parenthood was doing. I'd love to hear what others know about this subject, 'cause I just sort of pulled that out of my backside.

She sputtered and was trying to explain to Whoopi that she "thinks this is wrong because they revealed these heinous practices" going on at Planned Parenthood - and should not be punished for it. IDIOT.

Flipping around for the news last night, I mistakenly selected a video from FAUX, because it was reporting on this story. From the first words out of the anchor's mouth, I was stunned. He was *CONDEMNING* the grand jury for failing to indict PP for "selling baby parts" and for indicting the perpetrators of the fraud instead. No attempt whatsoever to present "news." He sounded like an evangelical preacher, asserting as fact that PP "sold fetal tissue," etc. etc. Then he turned to a couple of panelists who simply reiterated what he'd said. How shocked and upset they were that this terrible injustice occurred and the horrible, criminal Planned Parenthood "got off." What has happened to this country???
