President Obama talks about his achievements while in office, and assures Americans that it would be quite difficult for a Republican President to dismantle them.

Courtesy of CBS News:

"How much time do you wonder or spend thinking about what you have done might be undone if a Republican ends up in the White House?" (Lee) Cowan asked.

"Well, you think about that," he replied. "But what you discover when you're president is that the institutions and programs and things that you have put in place and built, if you've done a good job and you've done them sensibly, you know, in some cases may need tinkering with, can be improved. But if they're good things, they're harder to undo than you think."

That is comforting news. Though I still want to hedge our bets by making sure that the next President will only protect and reinforce the policies put in place by President Obama.

As for this interview I was especially impressed to once again see all of the things that President Obama fought to accomplish during his presidency and how well they turned out, despite constant attempts to block or undermine them by the Republicans.

I find myself often trying to explain to people all of the great things the Obama Administration has accomplished, and that I see President Obama as one of the most important presidents of my lifetime.

A lot of people are simply not ready to hear that yet, but I contend that in the years to come scholars will compare this presidency favorably to the presidencies of John F. Kennedy, Harry Truman, and yes, even Abraham Lincoln.

I just hope I live long enough to get a few "I told you so's" in.

Sorry Obama, but enough Republican votes will undo what you have done, and a Republican president can undo your executive signings and make laws you vetoed, pass.

Furthermore, a Republican president packing the Supreme Court with justices in the mold of Scalia and Thomas could send this country down a very dark hole for the next thirty years.

    4. Like they've been trying to undo Social Security ever since it was instituted? The best they've manages is to siphon off money without repaying it. But we're on to that.

The ACA is the new Social Security. Like Social Security and Medicare, now that people have it they are not going to let the Republicans take it away from them.

If Obamacare is one of the things to which you are referring, it's highly, highly unlikely.

I have a friend who works as an actuary for Kaiser. She says that at this point, all the major insurers have spent so much time and money putting new systems and protocols into place, that the insurance companies en masse would never stand for a repeal.

The GOP must know this perfectly well. They're grandstanding for the base, as usual.

      Exactly, they have "captive enrollees".

I am sure the health insurance lobbyists have told the GOP to keep their hands off Obamacare.

The GOP told them don't worry, we just want to slam Obama, we can't give him credit for anything, we aren't going to touch Obamacare because we would have to come up with our own plan to replace it and we got nothing, but don't tell our constituents that.

My exact words, IM! I hope I live long enough to hear President Obama being declared (for history) one of our better POTUS EVER, EVER, EVER! I'm in my 70's!

I'm so glad I voted for him both times. Loved his having visited our state (Alaska) this past year and look toward to his return this summer with his family!

It was obvious he thoroughly enjoyed his visit and meeting so many of our people! I hope to 'get up close to him' (haha!) and say 'hi' on his next trip north!

I was just watching Kate Snow's show on MSNBC. She played a video of Trump saying he would love to run against Michael Bloomberg. He sounded sincere and sane somehow (go figure).

Anyway, it has crossed my mind a few times that Trump's intent is to get the general against Hillary (ideally for him Hillary, Bloomberg and himself) and actually go to her left when the time is right.

Stranger things have happened. After seeing that Trump video from yesterday, it is hard to believe Trump is not really a democrat in disguise.

Fuck the Republicans! What a horrible breed of folks these past ten years or so! I find them to be nothing more than racists and obstructionist. You couldn't pay me to cast a vote for anyone in that party be they on the national, state or local levels!!

Another point to remember. When you cast your vote in 2016, notice that your ballot no longer reflect the party to which the person/candidate is affiliated. They are trying to hoodwink the voters, folks!

I suggest folks vote Absentee - when you go to mark your ballot - do it in front of your computer and go on Google, put in the individuals name and see their history. Plus, you can pull up your state Legislature info as to how they voted on issues, etc.

Be an informed VOTER above all else!

Reminds me of former republican Maryland Governor Robert Ehrlich.

Ehrlich and Michael Steele put out flyers in 2010 to black districts, implying they were democrats. His campaign manager went to prison for this and other stuff related to election fraud.

  7. His messaging could have been much much better, and the loss of Pelosi as Speaker definitely hurt pushing through a more liberal agenda.

That said, in light of the republican perfidy, President Obama showed remarkable grace, determination and maturity far beyond what I would have been able to do so.

President Obama was unfortunately ill served by the Democrats running for election in the midterms. They ignored all that he had accomplished and paved the way for the teabaggers to take control of the House and then of the Senate. Had the Democrats running for Congress in 2010 and 2014 strongly supported all that President Obama and they had accomplished despite GOP obstruction, we could well have a Democratic Congress today.

12:09 PM Sorry, Teabagger, you don't consider the Republican seats that will be lost in 2016, probably because you watch Fox Network too much. You try to make it seem that all of Republican Congressmen are on the same page. Many of their constituents are under Obamacare. Try to repeal it, and face the backlash.

President Obama came into office when the economy was in free fall. It wasn't just the American economy. It was a world wide problem, but he managed to stop the bleeding and brought the stock market back to nearly double what it had been during the Bush administration. The last few weeks are unusual because China's economy is in the tank and they can no longer cover it up, and oil prices are dropping. Again, this is a world wide problem. So the first the Republican president would have to do is restore the Bush era depression and economy free fall of October 2008. No one will vote for that.

The next thing that the Republican has to do is take away health care form people with pre-existing conditions, kids up to 26 years old, and all of the millions of people who now do have some form of health coverage. Good luck with that.

The Rats Are Fleeing The Sinking Ship As Rush Limbaugh Blames Obama For Trump

As the Republican Party appears poised to nominate Trump and get thumped in November, Rush Limbaugh is already making excuses and blaming President Obama for the hatred and bigotry that is allowing Trump to flourish in the Republican primary.

.... If the Republican Party had actually been opposed to Obama and acted like it, the vacuum would not have existed, making it much more difficult for Trump.....

Creators Of Fake Planned Parenthood Videos Indicted On Criminal Charges

Planned Parenthood was cleared by a grand jury of any wrongdoing but the two creators of the edited Planned Parenthood videos have been indicted on criminal charges.
    The Houston Chronicle reported:

A Harris County grand jury probe into Planned Parenthood of the Gulf Coast ended Monday with the indictments of two anti-abortion activists.
David Daleiden and Sandra Merritt were both indicted for tampering with a governmental record. An additional indictment for prohibition of the purchase and sale of human organs was issued for Daleiden, according to a release from the Harris County District Attorneys Office.

Planned Parenthood was completely cleared of any wrongdoing, and ironically, one of the makers of the videos was indicted for trying to illegally purchase fetal tissue. Planned Parenthood has been completely vindicated. The indictment of the two anti-choice activists is a devastating development for the Republican Party.....

....Planned Parenthood has not only been cleared by the two creators of the videos could be going to jail. It’s now time for a criminal investigation into the congressional Republicans who were involved in the conspiracy against Planned Parenthood.

Trump Brings Down The Republican Party As Ted Cruz Vows Not To Shoot People

The battle for Iowa has unveiled the Republican Party’s desperation, and you can tell because their front-runner Donald Trump is bragging about murder and thus we have other Republican candidates being asked about his comments, forcing up such replies as, “I can say I have no intention of shooting anybody in this campaign.”

Oh, yes, this is how you spell winning the White House....

....So we have Republican candidates for President debating who will be shooting people during this campaign, as if this kind of rhetoric were normal and acceptable in political discourse. ...

I doubt they'll touch the ACA or everyone will be up in arms. One of my co workers felt the flu coming on, general fatigue and aches, and she went to one of the minit clicics. This lady was never sick a day in her life. She was paying 1400 dollars a year before, and now pays 568 a year. The physician's assistant examined her and it turned out to be the early stages of lupus, Long story short, it used to cost thousands a year to "manage" the disease. With ACA and a clinical trial, it costs a little over a hundred, and they THINK they can get her to remission in six to eight months. It saves money, time, time off from work, and she has peace of mind knowing her kids are on her plan.
