So Bill Maher really, and I mean REALLY, wants President Obama to be a guest on his show.

Courtesy of Deadline:

“Sean Penn can get an interview with El Chapo, but I can’t get the President who talks to the lady with green lips,” Maher said, the latter reference to Obama’s live-streamed chat with Youtube celebrity GloZell Green, known for her outrageous lipstick choices.

Maher directed his viewers to visit the White House website petition page — petitions.whitehouse.gov — to sign the statement, “Herewith, on the occasion of Bill Maher’s 60th birthday, we the people, especially viewers of Real Time with Bill Maher, respectfully request that President Obama appear on Real Time and thereby honor that particular audience (and their support for him), as he has so honored viewers of so many other TV shows and media outlets; or if not, to please, respectfully, tell us why.”

As of this post the petition, which you can see here, already has just under 37,000 signatures and I have no doubt that it will reach its goal of 100,000 well before the February 14th cutoff date.

I have to confess that I did not see the show on Friday, because for some reason it escaped my notice that it was returning.

So if you are like me you can see come clips here at Salon, or if you have HBOGO  you can watch it anytime you want.

I did see Friday's show, but forgot to sign the petition. Thanks for the reminder. I have now signed it!

Because Bill can be a misogynist and islamaphobic at times.

I don't particularly like Bill Maher and I frequently do not appreciate his kind of "humor." President Obama may choose to appear with him but I don't think anyone should pressure him to.

I don't really like him either. Many years ago, he wore a Halloween costume of the late Steve Irwin with a stingray barb sticking out of him. I thought it was in poor taste, and I haven't seen or heard anything to change my opinion since then. I know he has a lot of fans, but I have no interest in watching his show.

I don't like Maher either, because he's prejudiced against Muslims & women. But he gave 1 million to the President's campaign at one time, so he'll end up on the show.

And his fans would say, we don't give a shit what you think. It's HBO.

Also, too, Thanks to the episode with BHO on Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee, we have found a new entertainment pleasure. Crackle.

Moving on from the Palin Shit Storm, PG (as in preggers TV) MythBusters Alaska CSI and their reruns of the same ol' same ol'.

And, we've had enough of the TRUMP MAKING AMERICA HATE AGAIN campaign. Sarah, the big boys don't need your commentary anymore...What will she do when The Donald takes her PAC away?

Well, I like Bill Maher, but I don't think people like him should be able to petition Obama to be on his show.

I once was mildly entertained by Maher, but he is on the Board for PETA and they are nothing short of domestic terrorists. I didn't know about his Steve Irwin, but that is supremely tacky. Given his misogynism and Islamophobia, I'll have to pass on doing anything to support him or his show. He is a creep and also a big Hugh Hefner fan also. Sorry Mercede, but what does that tell you?!

Because the lady with green lips is not a smug, condescending, patronizing, racist, misogynistic 'religiaphobe'. That's why Obama talks to her and not Maher.

Bill Maher is a foul mouthed attention whore. Why would I want our President to go on his show and give the Right more reasons to foam at the mouth?

The Right is going to foam at the mouth anyway. There are loads of foul mouthed attention whores on TV all the way from Alaska to New York City. North, South, East, West. There's something there to offend almost anyone.

Exactly, 8:12 AM. Maher has always been full of himself, and he does offend me with language sometimes, talks over his guests, etc., but there's a certain snark behind it that I support on behalf on all politicians and "New Rules" is always good for as hoot or two!

I've always been a fan of Bill Maher and am glad he's back on cable after his annual vacation time off in Hawaii.

Wonder why President Obama has never accepted his invitation to be on his show. Didn't Bill donate a million dollars to one of President Obama's campaigns? Seems as though I remember him doing so.

Yes he did and, whether people like him or not, he has every right to ask President Obama to guest on his show.

We'll see. 100K is consideration? Myself, hanging out at the Playboy mansion and party city is no reason to show up on one's show because he's whining about it.

It's called being the PRESIDENT, Bill, leave the whining to the Palins. They're so damn good at it.

I've enjoyed Maher's shows many times and even went to one of his concerts. Not sure why he equates El Chapo's 'importance' with that of the President. I'm sure he could get Cruz or Trump in a NY minute. They are far more comparable with El Chapo.

That was a joke, he is a comedian.. He was not saying El Chapo is important at all. Geez..lighten up.

I love Bill Maher and am glad he's back on cable after his time off in Hawaii.

He's smart, funny, well read and truly current on politics in America!

Plus, he is known to counter both parties when people are on his panels each week. He's quick on his feet and always shows respect to the panelists!

I hope President Obama does appear on his show before the end of his second term. I would suspect they'd like each other! It has always appeared to me that Maher supported President Obama in his campaigns.

Maher's language doesn't offend me and I've watched him for years. Yes, he does use 'fuck', but it is commonly used today as 'shit' was when I was a teenager and I'm a senior today.

He has a great show and has had it for years....many folks like him! Me included!

I don't blame our POTUS for not wanting to be anywhere near Bill Maher.

Bill is an Islamophobic Libertarian and has told reporters that he and Ann Coulter are besties who pray together. He is obviously not as smart as he lets on.

Bill Maher is as much an Atheist as Sarah Palin is a Christian. Both are as fake as Brisdull's face.

I absolutely adore Bill and think President Obama should do his show. If he can invite and do an interview with the uber obnoxious Billo to the White House, surely POTUS could handle someone like Bill Maher.

  18. I have HBO Now which doesn't require a cable subscription.

Thanks. I didn't realize he was back. I'll be watching it and checking to see when John Oliver is coming back. Missed them both over the holidays.
