The new Bernie Sanders campaign ad is pretty impressive.

Simple, effective, great song, what's not to like?

Now here is Hillary's new campaign ad.

Is anybody else flashing back to 2008?

Just a stretch but I'm pretty sure it would sound like the speeches he's giving right now that are drawing thousands of people who have never heard of him prior.

But Anon at 8:23 is right: they hate Hilary. They can't allow a woman to succeed. But then, that's how they felt about Obama: they can't allow a black man to succeed... and he did.

I'm not the OP, but I'll comment.

I like the ad (and love, LOVE! the song) and watched it a few times. There just aren't that many non-white people in it.

I was surprised that an ad that uses a song about immigration and the American dream doesn't have more brown people in it, especially in this day and age.

This might come across as racist, but I see no difference between the critique here of Bernie's ad and the Pinkett-Smiths boycotting the Oscars because no blacks are nominated in major categories. Silly.

Having worked for an ad agency, let me share some insight on "target marketing". Target marketing is when a series of ads are designed to "speak to" a particular audience you with to communicate with. So, by the looks of the demographics in his targeted ad, he's courting farm families, blue collar workers and areas with few minorities or people of color. Hey, it just so happens to match the demographics of the caucus states. What a coincidence -- ha, ha funny not funny. (circa Palin 2016)

Mark my words. If they have a genuine all-inclusive campaign marketing strategy, you will see more versions of this same ad and song with different images in the near future to ensure they "speak to" a broader mix and more diverse population.

So calm down and breathe. All is well my friend.

The video is obviously put together from footage from the first primary states, who have a majority white population, ergo, very few colorful faces. I bet that will custom tailored prior to the biblebelt primaries.

  8. What's to like about this media manipulated "feel good" ad of Bernie's? Very little. Bunch of white people jumping up and down and -- wait for it -- a soundtrack that dates back to the 70's. He's a pipe dream of a candidate with a fantasy platform.

I've watched, I've listened and I'm still with Hillary. You may be flashing back to 2008 but she's in the hear & now, experienced and realistically able to get some things done. Bernie? Not so much. A Ralph Nader candidate from my perspective. And btw, I've walked many picket lines in my life.

I am all in for Hillary as well. Bernie is a dreamer; she is a realist. Who has stood up to the GOP machine and won? Who has fought for women. For kids. For our very nation? Who knows all the world leaders and fears none of them? Who took on health care when everyone told her not to? Who will fight for us? Who has been to Flint and seen the water situation firsthand? Who also has big dreams for the future of this nation, and a support system to actually get things done?
I like Bernie too, but he is not the go-getter that Hillary is, and when I imagine the upcoming debates with our candidate against theirs, no one is more posted to take control than she is.
By the way, her commercial was neither dark nor scary..what Fox rock are your guys quivering under?

      Simple, because it's my choice.

I respect your opinion completely -- regardless of whether I agree with it or not. I don't have a need or desire to belittle or accuse you of racism, ageism or any of those other stupid -isms, insults and childish names (i.e. trolls) that people resort to when they don't have the capacity to make a simple argument for or against a position.

I know how to stand firm in my reasoning and freely express my thought processes when I see fit without having to put you down to leverage my ability to persuade others.

I was surprised at all those rural scenes in Bernie's ad. How does a fair deal for all Americans jibe with those handsome rural subsidies for doing nothing? Perhaps the director was too focused on schmaltz instead of reality.

As for Hillary Clinton's ad, there were a couple dozen candidates that ran for major nominations. There is only one candidate that can make those claims in Hillary's ad. She would be insane not to make them.

All those rural scenes in Bernie's awesome ad represent the hard working farmers of not only Vermont but the upper Midwest. Where the animals have to be fed whether it's cold or snowing or even blowing snow. And the whole family works on the farm. To make a living. 24/7 for 365 days/year. Unlike some Americans who never work, but their offshore money grows every trip you make to Walmart to help fund them.

I have been following Bernie since he first announced his candidacy back last spring. I have grown to like his message more and more, and finally the media is seeing it too.

I would be happy with Hillary or Bernie as President. So, the only thing to consider is who is best positioned to win in the general and have coat tails to populate the Congress with more Democrats.

I think Hillary might be the one. But not if she is charged for having super secret emails on her home server.

Bernie might be the one until you consider that his entire life has not been vetted and you can bet the Republicans will want us all to know what Bernie was up from the 1960s until the present day. Did you know Bernie went to the Soviet Union on his honeymoon in 1989? Can a Bernie candidacy survive a vetting of his entire life?

Hillary's entire life has already been vetted time and time again. But then there is the question of the super secret emails. What if a grand jury brings charges against her?

This is what it comes to for me. Who can win the general and help bring more Democrats to the Congress.

Smart ad on Bernie's part. Music evokes emotion and we then associate it with the person(s) shown. Positive music=positive feelings for Bernie. That is basic advertising. Hilary's ad was like listening to a high school run for president - I am good at this this and this. I hope that Hilary's campaign sees the response to Bernie's ad and use it to improve their own. However, I have to admit that for the most part the democrats have not picked up on the reason that the republicans can get away with their lies to their base is because they are tapping into their emotions. People will and have thrown their votes against their own interests because they are following their emotions.
