I had the same sentiments as I read it. As a survivor, whenever I read of another cancer death, it brings back feelings of anger and guilt. RIP David. You made me feel it was ok to be who I am because of your art.
As long as there are those who make their living pushing fear as a means of control, it will never happen. It is the fear of dying they use to great effect.
Yes, but... if Sagan knew what we know now about the role of consciousness/observation in the quantum realm I believe he may have modified his view on this.
6:14, In a nutshell, we now know that the material, deterministic physical world/universe of particles and matter, and the Laws of Nature which we experience as part of our lives emerges from probabilistic quantum states of in-deterministic super positioning and quantum entanglement ...i.e. Einstein's spooky action at a distance thing...the math of which has now been physically tested and proven thanks to improvements in tech.
