Another mass shooting in America. Gee, it must be a day of the week ending in "y."

Courtesy of CNN:

A gunman killed three people in shootings that ended at a lawn care company in Kansas on Thursday, authorities said.

An additional 14 people were injured -- 10 of whom are in critical condition at local hospitals.

The shooter was also killed by police, bringing the total number of fatalities to four.

Authorities first got calls about a man shooting from a vehicle in Newton about 5 p.m., the Harvey County Sheriff's Office said.

Minutes later, there were reports of a shooting at Excel Industries, which makes lawn care equipment in Hesston, Kansas.

"Everybody says it can't happen here," Walton said. "And here we are. It happened here."

Matt Jarrell, a painter at Excel, told CNN that Cedric Ford -- his co-worker and friend -- is the suspected shooter.

Do people REALLY still say "it can't happen here?"

I mean after a bunch of children are gunned down in their classroom, where is it exactly where gun violence cannot occur?

I guess we are supposed to be relieved that ONLY three people were killed by the gunman in this case, while an additional fourteen ONLY had their bodies torn apart by bullets, leaving them with terrible scars but still alive.

In America that is rapidly become the "best case scenario."

And of course this story will only receive temporary media attention because the shooter was not a terrorist, and therefore not exciting enough to waste too much airtime to cover.

From what I have heard this man, Cedric Ford, was served with a protection order by his girlfriend and that seems to have been the trigger.

He used an automatic weapon to do the shooting, but also had a handgun in his possession as well.

I don't know yet whether the weapons were legally obtained, but they probably were.

But don't worry folks we will stop hearing about this story probably by as early as tomorrow morning, Just in time to make room for the next horrific shooting to take its place.

  1. Obviously, the media didn't think this man killed enough people. Very little about this---and truly if it is there it is nowhere near a headline except in Kansas.

We are becoming as grotesque as the people in the
movie Brazil. We'll start putting up screens so the bloodshed won't ruin our meals when we go out to eat.

The NRA has almost completely won. They've made sure the country is guns, guns everywhere. And soon, when the crazies start killing we all will just sigh and move along.

the NRA didn't even bother to have an official statement. No "it's too soon to discuss this tragedy". The people killed and wounded were just collateral damage. Welcome to the land of exceptionism.

Is it Indiana or Kansas that now will allows toddlers to be armed, too? As long as they are 'under adult supervision'... So, of course, nothing will go wrong there!

And....family murdered in WA state today by the father. 5 dead. Doesn't take long, eh, to continue the slaughter of innocent people because everyone can have guns anywhere, anytime, any place. Disgusting!

As recommended by the paragons of inadequacy running for the GOP presidential nomination, the least we can do is to pray for the victims and their families.

Literally, it's absolutely the very least we can do.

I only heard about this online-not a peep on TV. The "news" channels are too busy waiting for TRump to call in for some free advertising to report actual news, especially that tired old thing about somebody shooting somebody. Thetrace.org is a nonprofit keeping track of and reporting on the gun epidemic here in good old Murika. I highly recommend it.

I heard this screaming lunatic give a quickie lick up Palin's rear end cavity.

All he could say was a faster than lightening... she is a amazing. Before he got to the dude he was actually evangelically interested in. An evangelical pastor who he could use for votes and not have to bother with the embarrassing irrelevant skank.

Skank can go back to pushing her love affair with every thing gun nuts. Baby Sailor Grace is going to need to start packing, you never know when she will have to protect herself from all the gun safety all over the places she exists.

A friend and I were listening to an recording of the radio mystery "Mr. Keene, Tracer of Lost Persons," (a big hit in the 30s and 40s). She had a relative who had played Sgt. Clancey. Keene's sidekick.
In one of the dramatic moments in the show, Keene yells at Mike "Watch out, Mike! He's got a gun!"

That was when guns were still mostly in the possession of criminals. Think Bonnie and Clyde, not the guy who's had
festering resentments and anger about how the world was treating him, and went out as a "cop suicide," taking several innocent people with him.

Don't pin it on Gryph. He gives his readers what they want. I stand by my suggestion that he has a Palin open thread every day, let them hang there, and the rest of us can discuss matters important to him.

Personally, I dislike sarcasm. And 10:07 there's not much of a stretch to directly connect the Palins, as well as Dakota Meyer, to the uneducated, knee-jerk, idjits who have fomented the distorted gun culture in this country. FFS.

This one hit too close to home. I have cousins in that part of Kansas. I called to make sure they were alright, thinking they would be nothing more than shaken by the community's tragedy. I was told that five family members had worked the first shift at Excel. They had gone home by the time the shooting happened, so their lives and bodies were spared by the random scheduling. At the rate mass shootings are occurring in the US, sooner or later we will all be affected the six degrees of 2nd Amendment separation.

There was also a photo of all of them and Sarah was holding a handgun upside down with the barrel pointed at the woman posing next to her. The instructor is standing behind them.

The shooter in Washington State was White. Fox might skip that one, because he killed his family and himself. They practiced firing at targets on their farm property.

Don't worry starting next semester, students on college campuses in certain states can pack heat, too.
University of Texas at Austin will be one of the campuses. Professors have been alerted by the dean that they should curtail their techings to topics that are 'safe' and noncontroversial, and that they should only meet students during special designated times outside of their classrooms. No more random meetings, no more talking about anything that could upset anyone, because anyone now will be able to carry openly as well as concealed.
Talking about infringing on teaching... There are already fallouts from this new law - future students are declining to enroll, and some professors already have handed in their resignations.
