On releasing the transcripts from her speeches, Hillary essentially says "You first."

I'll show you mine if you'll show me yours.
Courtesy of Politico:

Hillary Clinton will release transcripts to her paid speeches — just as long as everyone else does too.

“I am happy to release anything I have when everybody else does the same,” Clinton said during Thursday's Democratic town hall in Nevada, before adding that all other candidates had made paid speeches — including her Democratic rival, Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders.

Yet another Hillary non-scandal for the media to perseverate over.

I find this one even dumber than her e-mail "scandal."

Why, seriously, WHY would anybody release a bunch of transcripts that opposition researchers and right wing media outlets can pore through making mountains out of every molehill, and finding political opportunity in every word?

I would not even think this a legitimate request of say Donald Trump, who has flip flopped his entire career, or Jeb Bush, who I think we all know has said some damaging things behind closed doors, because he also says them in public.

No unless EVERYBODY on both sides volunteers to release transcripts of their speeches, there is NO legitimacy to asking Hillary to do so.

  1. BlueDragon4:04 AM

Once again, holding her to a standard that no one else has to meet.

    1. Anonymous6:28 AM

Okay, here's a challenge to the candidates, but lets face it, it only applies to Hillary, though it is on her own terms.

Let's have Hillary and Bernie both release all the transcripts of every speech they have ever given for the benefit of Goldman Sachs. How about doing that since it only holds her up to her own standard?

The reason Hillary can be so cavalier and say "you first" to Sanders is because she knows Sanders has none to release in the first place. Bernie wasn't being bought, er excuse me, paid, to make speeches on Wall Street.

She's playing fast and loose with the truth, here, and that's all I need to know to disqualify her from my vote.

    2. Anonymous6:46 AM

    3. "Okay, here's a challenge to the candidates, but lets face it, it only applies to Hillary, though it is on her own terms. Let's have Hillary and Bernie both release all the transcripts of every speech they have ever given for the benefit of Goldman Sachs. "
Nope, that's not what she said. She said all paid speeches.

Someone's playing fast and loose with the truth here, and it isn't Hillary.

    4. Anonymous8:42 AM

Many, many politicians leave office and make their living being paid for speeches. Why is it wrong for Hillary to do so? If someone would pay to listen to what I have to say, I would make speeches every week. Also too, where is the proof that she only says what they want to hear? It is a fact that Hillary can't be attacked on her knowledge and experience so the Repugs and St. Bernie are nitpicking. Move on!

    5. Anonymous9:04 AM

      Anonymous6:28 AM
Bernie bros spewing Teabagging talking points STFU!
Sick of your bought and paid bs.
Just shut up. People can make up their own mind we don't need YOU troll telling us how to vote or WHO to vote for so fuck the fuck off!

    6. Anonymous9:11 AM

Palinistas only wish someone would pay to hear $arah screech

    7. Anonymous9:34 AM

    8. Anonymous9:37 AM

    9. Anonymous1:05 PM

Many politicians get paid for making speeches, many become lobbyist too. That is what has destroyed our country, it has become a country of laws for the rich and against working people. Wall Street and the 1% keep getting more, the people less.

If we don't make a change there will no longer be any middle class!

Hillari plans to make no changes, she is saying "no we can't."

  2. Caroll Thompson4:07 AM

Bernie Sanders trolls Hillary on the transcripts.

He released all of his transcripts. There were none because he gave no speeches to Wall Street.

I keep going back and forth between Hillary and Bernie. Today, Bernie is winning the day.

    1. SallyinMI4:40 AM

So what? Why would Wall Street want to hear from a 30 year Senator who has no use for them at all? Hillary Clinton was FLOTUS and Secretary of State. She understands the economy, the world, and everything better than Sanders or anyone else running ever will. Did they offer her a lot of money? Yes. Has she ever put out policies specifically to favor Wall Street? No she has not. This whole thing is stupid. Don't vote for Hillary is you distrust her, but realize that your distrust is based on the GOP's lies and not on facts. The woman is amazing. She will be a stupendous leader. Give her a chance, and stop trashing her because the GOP is terrified of her power.

    2. Anonymous4:55 AM

Yep, and since he can't even control his flying monkeys he's going to be a great president.

It may only be hours before a coffin is delivered from the Sanders campaign with Hillary's name on it. Tell me the last time a Democratic campaign had to be investigated by the Secret Service for its activities against another candidate.

      Yes, vote for Bernie.

    3. Anonymous5:11 AM

Sallyin MI, come on, you're smarter than blaming republicans for all of Clinton's woes. She was a fucking SOC and knew private email WOULD be an issue and did it anyways. She has too much baggage to be POTUS. She's had a lifetime of public service that allowed her to line her pockets many times over. Happy retirement Mrs Clinton, your time has passed.

    4. Thank you, SallyinMi. The more the GOP attacks her, the more support Hillary Clinton has from me.

    5. Anonymous5:32 AM

Caroll Thompson, you're aware that Sarah Palin was paid $300,000 for her first speech, in Hong Kong? You're aware that Mrs Palin was extremely rude to her own President in that speech, which was organized for her by Rupert Murdoch?

And yet you think it's some sort of crime that Hillary won't dance until the media make all candidates dance?

Vote for Bernie. By all means.

    6. Anonymous5:52 AM

    7. Anonymous5:52 AM

      Anonymous5:11 AM

Once agin you are holding her to some ideal in your head.
1)Both Condi Rice and Colin Powell did the same thing.
      2) at the time the emails were sent they were NOT classified
      3) she never SENT emails that were later classified. She RECEIVED the emails.

Democrats - a majority of the population yet allow republicans to hold both houses because they are little children who take their ball and go home if their candidate is not perfect. Bernie supporters will be just as dissapinted in Bernie as they are in Obama. Bernie has been in the senate for 20 years, and was "such a leader" that nobody knew who he was until this year. Doesn't say much for his leadership. I will vote for him if he is the candidate, but don't expect miracles. He will not prosecute Wallstreet. He will not get free college. He will not get single payer in his term(s) in office.

    8. Anonymous9:07 AM

I'm sick of these RNC opertives posing as "Dems" for Bernie.
As someone mentioned above, Colin powel, Condi all of them did the same thing b/c there WAS NO GOV SOS email for them.
FUCK off, and STFU we will vote for who we want.

    9. Anonymous9:08 AM

There is a lot to tear apart with your reasonings 5:52... "but condi and colin..." blah blah blah.

Condi and Colin never kept private servers (can you say HUGE deal).

Not to mention stalling investigations and muddying the waters. All kinds of changing excuses. So Clinton.

This is more of the same crap Hillary has done for the last 35) years. Rules apply to other people but not to her.

    10. Anonymous9:09 AM

And another thing...I was going to vote for Bernie in the primary so he could get a good turnout but b/c he can't control the flying monkeys and bernie bros, spewing bs I'm vote for Hillz, and KMA!!!

    11. Anonymous9:10 AM

Republicans FEAr Hillary Clinton, especially the republicans who have infiltrated Sanders' campaign.

    12. Anonymous9:15 AM

Caroll Thompson would love to see democrats lose this election. Isn't Carol a woman's name? No wonder you have issues.

    13. Anonymous9:23 AM

You ever hear the term 'lying to investigators' 5:52?

  3. Anonymous4:27 AM

Her ties to Wall Street are a huge concern. We waited and waited for Obama to go after the people instrumental in the financial collapse and got nothing except more offshoring of cash. We don't need more of the same from Clinton.
As for Republicans, their canned speeches are like stump squack. Nothing logical to discern.

    1. Anonymous4:50 AM

Her ties to Wall Street aren't a concern to me. Who the fuck do you think is funding all the anti-Clinton smear campaigns?

    2. Anonymous5:09 AM

What a bunch if crap. How could she NOT have ties to Wallstreet? She has had to work with them for 30 years. How can you possibly accomplish anything without ties to SONETHING?

    3. Anonymous5:28 AM

One thing I refuse to do is put a politician on a pedestal and idolize them.

    4. Anonymous5:31 AM

The gop has been doing opposition research on Hillary ever since Bill was President. They are afraid of her since she is the best prepared candidate to lead this country. Bernie has great and popular ideas but they will never get past Congress. When Obama was first elected, he had 60 democrats in the Senate. Even that made healthcare and everything else a struggle. I'm confident Hillary will be able to get things done that will help all of us. The gop is going to continue throwing everything they can think of at Hillary. After watching her get grilled through the Benghazi hearings, I was convinced that she is who we need as the next President

    5. Anonymous5:43 AM

      You need a reality check

    6. Anonymous8:01 AM

If Bernie Sanders is elected he will find out very quickly how little he can get done with out the help of Wall Street.
As I ave said from Day ONe, a candidate can promise the moon but once elected he will learn he can fulfill very few of those promises. REALITY is a real bitch but it hots new presidents square it he kisser within days.
They learn exactly how much they did not know as candidates. That's one reason why President Obama could not do as much as he promised (with the added disadvantage of a hostile house and senate of course). Sanders will face the SAME thing as will Hillary, should either one get elected.
Promising shit to get someone to vote for you is easy, delivery... that's where the hang up is and with NO connections to ANYONE, it will be very hard for either Sanders or Trump to do shit.

    7. Anonymous 5:43 AM wrote (in full): You need a reality check

Boy oh boy is the media speaking splendidly of Scalia! Obviously not spinning the correct information about his history on the bench. Check the facts, Americans!

One thing I will agree with about him is the fact he had a good sense of humor and had a huge Catholic family!

    5. Anonymous9:26 AM
Antonin Scalia’s death during secret junket points to new ethical violations

  5. Anonymous5:15 AM

First, this isn't about just any speech. This is about the speeches she made to Goldman Sachs, one of the banking bailouts.

Second, like with the emails, there's excuse creep on her part about why she won't release the transcripts. For awhile she claimed there were no transcripts. Then she claimed if there was a transcript, she didn't have it, it belonged to Goldman Sachs. Then someone FOIA'd her contract for speaking at UNLV and we learned part of the contract, that appeared to boilerplate, was the fee included $1200 for a transcriptionist to attend and transcribe the speech, but that Clinton owned the transcript. So unless she's clueless about what's in her speaking contract, then she was being untruthful to claim there wasn't a transcript or if there was one, she didn't have it. If she'd said originally, you know, hold everyone else to the same standard, I would have agreed. But when it followed other excuses that turned out to be untrue, I have no sympathy for her. She's brought the problem on herself. Same with the emails. She started out claiming the only emails on that home server were about weddings, baby showers and trading recipes. Now we know that was completely untrue. I don't like people who lie when they don't have to.

    1. Anonymous5:35 AM

Awww Goldman Sachs is not like rill America, is that it? Awww...

You and your innuendo. Put up your evidence or shut up.

    2. Anonymous5:37 AM

Why would she need a transcript when she brought the speech with her? Seems kind of an awkward accusation.

    3. Bernie Bros Upgrade Needed5:54 AM

The Bernie Bro assigned to campaign on this blog is quite tiresome, repetitious, and semi-literate. I demand an upgrade!

    4. Anonymous5:57 AM

I have no respect for either Clinton. Being POTUS is a job where one must never cross the line. To treat a certain group of Americans as second class citizens enacting controls like DOMA and DADT which Mrs Clinton fully supported. You'll never be free when someone controls your life at every breath!

    5. Anonymous6:16 AM

Awkward? Meh. Fact. All her private speaking engagements were contracted through Harry Walker Agency. Having a stenographer record her speeches and the transcript belongs to her is a boilerplate part of her Harry Walker Agency contract.

Here's her contract by the Harry Walker Agency:
      On page 5:
The sponsor agrees to pay a fee of $1250 for the services of a stenographer who will be on site at the event. The stenographer will transcribe Speaker's remarks as they are being delivered, which will be solely for the Speaker's records. All arrangements related to the stenographer will be managed by the Agency."

    6. SallyinMI6:16 AM

So something that she supported 20 years ago is fodder for what? Like Obama on marriage equality, she has changed her views. It's called maturing; growing up; changing with the times. It indicates nothing except that she is a thinking human being, unlike Cruz and the GOP, who think Old Testament torture and killing is acceptable, despite the teachings of the man they say they follow, not to mention the 10 Commandments that they claim is the basis for US law.
Are you telling us that there is not one issue of national import that you have not changed your mind about your entire adult life?

    7. Anonymous6:20 AM

Well, she was not President then. Bill was. Bill was the one VOTED into office. (I don't want to be held responsible for all of my husband's decisions and he's the head of something. I'm not, although I am an expert in his field. He's the one with the job title and salary.)

You can't give BERNIE! a pass on issues like gun control, immigration, and writing rape fantasy short stories, then. He says he's evolved since those times, but forget it. Let's hold all candidates to their initial assessments on everything.

    13. Anonymous8:50 AM

      Anonymous6:31 AM,

Well then, if you think Democrats have done nothing, you should have no problems with the GOP reinstating DOMA, no gays in the military, and abolishing gay marriage everywhere.

  8. Anonymous6:37 AM

The only thing the Clintonistas are doing with this ugliness is ensuring that even if she wins the nomination a large segment of Sanders supporters will not vote for her and she will lose. Why is so hard for you to tout her positives without being negative against the other candidate?

    1. Anonymous6:43 AM

Because the Sanders campaign is running dirty pool. He's not even a real Democrat. He's more like a Demi-crat.

    2. Anonymous6:57 AM

Wow, I hope people aren't so butthurt when the primaries are over that they stay home. I say stay home because I can't imagine someone who supported either Clinton or Sanders would vote for one of the Republicans in the running right now.

This primary season has really been no rougher than 2008 when both Clinton supporters and Obama supporters were online saying horrible things about the other, but in the end folks came together behind Obama. I have faith that will happen this year, too.

    3. Anonymous8:46 AM

Just by referring to other Democrats as Clintonistas, that tells me a lot about you. When you start to label others, you start to dehumanize and its a short jump to demonize.

Why can't I support Hillary without being called a sellout, a corporatist?

Why must Bernie supporters usually threaten not to vote for Hillary?

    4. Anonymous8:54 AM

The only ugliness I have seen is from "supposed" Bernie supporters. Every time I try to be reasonable about Hillary, I get insulted and caleed all kinds of names. There's a reason many Trump supporters would also support Bernie.

    5. Anonymous9:02 AM

Funny how no one complained when Bernie caucused with the Dems forever and needed his vote. I did not know there was a waiting period to join the party.

Bernie running as a dem was a huge favor to the party. If he ran as an independent the Repugs would be guaranteed victory.

    6. Anonymous9:03 AM

It is not a threat, just a truth.

    7. Anonymous10:37 AM

The thing so many on IM do not understand, Bernie Sanders supporters are not blind Dem voters.

We chose our candidate and will vote for him even if he is wearing a big D, he is bringing a lot of new voters into politics. These voters could become Dem voters or could just go their own way.

The other thing is HRC is just another lobbyist loving corp politician.

Read Cory Doctrow's Little Brother, it will give you some insight to the millenial generation.

    8. Anonymous10:58 AM

The thing BERNIE! supports don't understand is that he is not really a Democrat AND he is NOT bringing in new voters. Rachel Maddow did a piece on this. That is a myth perpetuated by the BERNIE! campaign.

    9. Anonymous11:12 AM

Wow! lots of Sanders supporters here at IM :D

  9. Anonymous6:39 AM

The reason for wanting a transcript of an event, is a speaking event isn't just a text of a speech. Even though you have your speech that you brought, each event is different. The speaker is introduced and makes remarks to the person who introduces them. Speakers make aside remarks that aren't part of the text of their speech. Some speakers don't have a prepared speech, but speak from an outline of talking points. Someone may interrupt them and the speaker might comment. No two events will be the same.

By having a stenographer record their remarks live and transcribe them, the speaker has a permanent record of everything that was said during their time on the stage at each event.

  10. Anonymous7:11 AM

Didn't Bernie do this? Also why the hell are you covering up for a woman who is as disingenuous as ... Hillary Clinton herself. Voting for her is voting to keep CEOs controlling everything.

    1. Anonymous8:51 AM

NOT voting for her, should she win the nomination, will keep the CEOs from controlling everything?

    1. Anonymous11:59 AM

So there is an excuse, then, for all of the republicans to not release their speeches. Is that it? And Bernie has no speeches apparently. So really, once again, some issue only matters when it comes to Hillary? Is taht about right?

    2. Anonymous12:55 PM

Oh, people have had no trouble transcribing Sarah Palin's speeches. It might have driven them insane and they may not have been able to understand anything they wrote, but they have done it.

    3. Anonymous1:07 PM

The reason Bernie Sanders wants to scream for speeches is because he was never invited by Wall St to share his views with them. And no wonder.

But it's really dirty pool for him to impugn Hillary Clinton that way and I'm surprised and disappointed in him.

The more I see of Bernie Sanders the less I like him.

  12. Anonymous8:07 AM

    4. Okay now see these last two comments do not seem even remotely rational.

Does anybody REALLY think that Hillary would start a war? Or that she is seriously in danger of going to prison?

And if so just how much Right Wing talk radio are you listening to?

You can choose to focus on your anxieties or you can choose to use your brains and talent to support your candidate. That's a choice that we've all had to make.

  13. Anonymous8:30 AM

Clinton is being dishonest (shocker). This is a democratic primary. Why would the Republicans need to release their transcripts? That request would be appropriate in the general. The reason she said that everyone had to release the transcripts was that she knew Bernie would and the Repugs wouldn't.

    1. Anonymous8:59 AM

Did she write any rape stories that were published?

    2. Anonymous9:21 AM

*;30 stick a sock in it troll

    3. Anonymous9:50 AM

She probably wrote three rape stories about the women who accused Bill of rape. Lets not wander through the land of Clinton sex scandals and rumors.

How many people accused Bernie of rape and/or sexual impropriety? None.

How many people have accused the Clinton's of sexual impropriety? Legions. Bill's exploits are legendary. Hillary had an affair with Vince Foster, Webster Hubble is Chelsea's dad. Hillary is gay, Huma (sp) Abedin is her lover, etc.
Not saying any of it is true.

Clintonistas (I call Sander's supporters Sandersnistas) need to stay away from sexual innuendos. Sex is a mine field for the Clintons.

9:50 - no. Wrong. Have you read what Bernie wrote? His name is on it. It is published. What her husband did is not what she did. (What is wrong with you that you think they are the exact same person?)
You are repeating right wing talking points about Vince Foster so I guess you are a right-winger! No thanks, toots.

    5. Anonymous10:39 AM

      Hope @9:50 read this -

    6. Anonymous10:51 AM

HRC says she doesn't think she has ever lied, Now isn't that rich!

    7. Anonymous11:21 AM

Bill is a rapist, Hillary is his apologist.

    8. Anonymous11:54 AM

      @11:21 AM What are you?

    9. Anonymous12:08 PM

She is both Bill's apologist and apprently a 'womens right' advocate. Apparently she can be both, just change the colors on the lizard skin.

What are the Palin trolls doing here? Shouldn't they be somewhere else making excuses for the disgusting behavior of the Palin family?

Which Palin will screw up this week? Is there a schedule?

  14. Anonymous9:58 AM

I will be voting for Hillary if she gets the nomination, but I suspect there IS something to hide in these transcripts, or she would release them without pressure. If there is something to hide, I don't want them released because I want her to win the general. But I trust Bernie, not Hillary, for that very reason. And I don't see a problem with her emails except for her judgment to have mixed her personal and governmental accounts, knowing as she must have known at the time that she might run for President. I still think that's a non-issue, though, because previous SOSs did the same thing. I am surprised there was not a governmental policy about that. There should be.

      Hills $12 for America!

      $225,000 for herself!

    2. Anonymous11:56 AM

Yeah really, Anonymous10:42 AM, she should donate her speaking fees to you, shouldn't she. I thought Americans like a winner. Or is just when it's a man?

    3. Anonymous12:50 PM

Why do you have a rule for Hillary Clinton that you don't have for everyone else?

  15. Anonymous10:40 AM

Oh no, Dick VanDyke is a Berniebro!

Dick Van Dyke has been voting in presidential elections since casting his ballot for Harry Truman in 1948. But until this year, the last time the Television Hall of Fame actor actively campaigned for a White House contender was in 1968

    1. Anonymous12:49 PM

Just for the record, last year I began reading Dick Van Dyke's autobiography. I'll probably never finish it. It was so dull- without charm and devoid of humor. I was so disappointed, I'd anticipated a good laugh.

    2. Anonymous2:55 PM

Will Ferrell is campaigning for Hillary today in Nevada. So there's that.

  16. Anonymous1:14 PM

    Bernie has already

  17. Anonymous1:15 PM

Here's an idea - release the transcripts of ALL paid political speeches for ALL politicians who have been in ANY elected or appointed office in the past 50 years.

Nobody wants to be first? What a surprise.

  18. Anita Winecooler5:07 PM

She's one smart woman, who wants to read Sarah's scribble scrabble and the bullshit hearings the GOP had, over, and over, and over etc. ad nauseum. Not to mention Ted "Canada" Cruz reading Dr Seuss from the senate dais.

Don't feed the trolls!
It just goes directly to their thighs.
