Sarah Palin of course laments the passing of Justice Anonin Scalia, and supports Republican efforts to stop Obama from replacing him.

I don't understand a word of this thing, but I support everything it says that supports what I think.
Courtesy of Palin's only remaining place to exercise her First Amendment rights her Facebook page:

The passing of Justice Antonin Scalia today is a great loss for America. May we never lose the contributions he bequeathed us - a firm belief in Constitutional government and passionate dedication to justice. Prayers are with his family.

"A great loss for America?" Really?

Like I said I feel badly for Scalia's family, but I think a large number of Americans feel as if a new day has dawned, and that progress is now within our grasp.

Which is apparently something that Palin fears might be true:

Let's hope they are sincerely committed to this!
Posted by Sarah Palin on Saturday, February 13, 2016
Yes let's hope that the Republicans in the Congress ignore their own pledges to uphold the Constitution, and instead do everything in their power to obstruct the twice elected President from exercising his right and constitutional responsibility to nominate a replacement for the deceased Justice.

THIS is how Palin, and a whole lot of her fellow conservatives, pay their respect to the Founding Fathers.

But hey, at least she has not accused Obama of having Scalia murdered.

Well at least not yet.

And you all thought the biggest bang for your entertainment dollar was watching the GOP debates.

That is going to be NOTHING when compared to this fight over replacing Antonin Scalia on the Supreme Court.

NOTHING!

Hello Sarah Palin. Here is the question you haven't answered.

Why were you forced to resign so suddenly?

Want to talk about your secret deals as governor? Talk about any of the secret deals you made before the deal that let you resign on July 3? Or that last deal?

Have you NOT been paying attention?

Elections ONLY count when Republicans win! And a one-vote win counts as a landslide IF it's in the GOP candidate's favor.

Anything bad that happens before or after a Democrat's term in office is his/her fault, but anything bad that happens in a Republican's term is totally NOT their responsibility. It's all very simple really.

If a Democrat wins in November, they will find another excuse to postpone, manipulate or otherwise control the SCOTUS selection.

Newt Gingrich even suggested that Obama nominate a conservative replacement so that he or she would be confirmed easily. (President Obama nearly choked on his dinner when someone told him that little tidbit.)

I'm tired of hearing people say "the American people need to be able to pick who chooses the next Supreme Court justice"

The American people already did this back in 2012 when they elected Barack Obama to another FOUR YEAR TERM!!

This is absolute pure BS. They don't care that the Supreme Court will be incomplete for an entire year. Every decision for the next year will be a 4-4 tie...Which if I understand correctly means the lower court's decision stays. Basically making the Supreme Court pointless for the next year.

It was from the great bus tour. Probably the first time that Sarah Palin had actually been to the National Archives in DC.

Her parents did not give her the proper upbringing.

For many of us raised in AK, vacations to the important American institutions were a very important part of our education. Smithsonian Museums, Library of Congress, Supreme Court and visiting the Capitol to see Congress in session, Philadelphia, Liberty Bell, Boston Harbor, Civil War battlefields both North and South.

Sarah Palin's parents never did any of that during her formative years, and in turn she never did any of the important, educational and informative travel with her children. So many things for her were new, during the McCain Campaign and then on her bus tour. She was raised in a very provincial environment and knew not much about the big wide world.

Living in Alaska is more of an excuse to travel and see the world than just hunkering down here and remaining ignorant., which is how the Heath/Palins tend to live. This is a great place to call home, but there's a big wide world out there to see and experience.

Bernie Sanders Slams Republicans For Unprecedented Obstruction Of Obama Supreme Court Pick

...SANDERS: Well, I’ll say, John, it is beyond my comprehension and it just speaks to the unbelievable level and unprecedented level of Republican obstructionism against Obama from day one. This is not something that is in debate. The Constitution of the United States of America provides that the president appoints, nominates a Supreme Court justice. And then the Senate holds hearings and deliberation and votes on whether or not to approve that nomination.

The idea that Republicans want to deny the president of the United States his basic constitutional right is beyond my comprehension. So I will do everything that I can to make sure that when the president makes his nomination, the Senate goes forward in as speedy a process as possible, holds the necessary hearings and hopefully appoints and selects the president — the Supreme Court justice that the president nominates.

Mark my words, if the republicans don't win POTUS in 2016 they'll move to take away as much executive power as they can. If they can't win the election fair and square they'll try and undermine it, all while waving the constitution and swearing up and down that Tom Jefferson and God are on their side. Modern republicans care about one thing: POWER. It's their way or the highway.
They have vowed from the beginning of Obama's presidency to obstruct all of his agenda and appointments and the country be damned (even in the middle of the effing economic crisis). Why should we expect anything less now?

A huge upcoming Supreme Court case could lead to an incredibly rare phenomenon

    Brett LoGiurato
    Jun. 29, 2015, 4:14 PM

.... That leaves the Supreme Court with eight justices to hear and decide on the case this time around. In 2013, the court largely kicked the can down the road. By a 7-1 decision, the high court agreed to send the case back to a lower court for it to rehear it with stricter scrutiny.

But the Supreme Court taking up the case again suggests it may be ready to hand down a major decision on affirmative-action programs.

And that raises the specter of a decision divided along ideological lines at the court. So, what happens in the event of a 4-4 tie?

"If the Court divides 4-4 the lower court opinion is affirmed without creating any Supreme Court precedent," said Jeffrey Fisher, a professor of law at Stanford University ....

And it's within the document you stared at, acting like you were reading it, while a paid shill was taking photos and selling them on the net. Now you can't give it away, crazy lady. Read your constitution, or have someone read it to you. Poor thing is lost without RAM.

    Obama had Scalia murdered?

    Jezebel:
Loopy Conspiracist Alex Jones Thinks Justice Scalia Was Murdered (Because His 'Gut' Told Him So)

...... Sure enough, Jones posted a video to the InfoWars Facebook page—or, according to Jones, an “emergency transmission”—in which he claimed that Scalia had been murdered by the current presidential administration:

“The question is, was Antonin Scalia murdered? And the answer to that is, has the Bill of Rights and Constitution been murdered? Has it been reported that members of the Supreme Court have been blackmailed? Yes it has.”

In the video, Jones was quick to name Obama’s incentive for “murdering” Scalia in his conspiracy scenario: An “unprecendented power [grab] during his last year in office.”

Jones went on to challenge the ruling that the 79-year-old justice had died from natural causes (which was then clarified as a heart attack), declaring the term “natural causes” a euphemism.

“And I wish it was natural cause, but man, my gut tells me no,” Jones continued. “And if this is an assassination, this signifies that they are dropping the hammer.” .....

VERY OFF-TOPIC: We all know Bristol worships at the feet of the Kardashians. She fancies herself as Kim Kardashian, even to the point of trying her best to look and dress like her.

Turns out that Kim Kartrashians husband Kanye West is $53 MILLION IN DEBT.

Kanye has some serious mental and emotional issues, not even counting his 53 million in debt for that 3 years of the "Yeezy" homeless-looking clothing line.

There are so many links today to a twitter rant he went on last night where he is basically screaming for mental health intervention.

It must be hard for a guy like him to wake up one day and realize that he does not have any talent, either musically or as a designer and is losing his ass financially because no one wants to buy his shit.

That being said, he's a giant douche and while I hope he gets the mental help he needs, I also hope he just disappears from popular culture.

Sarah Palin knows nothing about anything. You can be sure she had to google Scalia's wiki page to know anything about him... that is, if she's not still paying Bristol for her googling expertise.

I think it was just another day of overeating rich and artery-clogging food, drinking, and cigar smoking. He didn't take care of himself at all and overindulged in so many things that he knew wer

The GOP are complaining about Obama wanting a new judge. They should be complaining about how Scalia ought to have taken care of himself given his rare position as a court justice with the expectation of many more years of serving on the court and continuing work already started.

What happens if two more Supreme Court Justices die in the next couple of months? Ruth Bader Ginsburg (please, please stay alive!) will be 83 next month, Kennedey is 79, Breyer is 77, and Thomas will be 68 in June. We'll all know that God is sick of the Republicans as much as all of us if that happens. Things always happen in threes.

I don't believe there's a God, let alone one that gives a f&k about our politics, or that things always happen in 3s (never has happened re the SC). But definitely join you in hopes nothing happens to the remaining justices.

I love a good political popcorn munch, but have a hard time viewing this as "entertaining." We are looking at more than a year with a court vacancy (maybe 18 months until a new person is seated if the GOP does manage to delay nomination until the next administration), which means chaos when lower courts have split decisions and SCOTUS comes down 4-4. It also sets a seriously horrible precedent for Republican obstruction -- this is really worse than anything they've tried so far in the judicial branch. The idea that Americans could get used to and accept the idea that a determined bunch of douchebags in the legislative branch should be able to grind all three branches of government to a halt -- it's frightening and not at all fun for me to watch.

Wallace should have pushed this with a follow up question and the Democrats had better run with this on the campaign trail.

If the media were doing their job they would ask ever Republican the same question, not that it would change the mind set of their low information voters, however it might change the minds of some moderate republicans that enough is enough and they would cross over and vote for a Democrat.

This says it all! Elizabeth Warren:

    Here's Warren's statement in full:

The sudden death of Justice Scalia creates an immediate vacancy on the most important court in the United States.

Senator McConnell is right that the American people should have a voice in the selection of the next Supreme Court justice. In fact, they did — when President Obama won the 2012 election by five million votes.

Article II Section 2 of the Constitution says the President of the United States nominates justices to the Supreme Court, with the advice and consent of the Senate. I can't find a clause that says "...except when there's a year left in the term of a Democratic President."

Senate Republicans took an oath just like Senate Democrats did. Abandoning the duties they swore to uphold would threaten both the Constitution and our democracy itself. It would also prove that all the Republican talk about loving the Constitution is just that — empty talk.

    About Scalia's death.

He was diagnosed with a heart condition some time ago. He's overweight; I doubt if he exercised much, if at all.

I'm an Advanced Life Support EMT in rural Virginia. In the past two months I have had two identical rescue squad calls:
    1. 62 yrs old; heart attack 5 years ago; visiting from Kentucky; complained all day about "tightness in my chest;" wife and friends urged him to call 911; he refused. He got out of bed about 2:00 AM, went to bathroom, wife went back to sleep, found him dead on bathroom floor at 6:30 AM.

    2. 75yrs old, heart attack several years ago. Got up from breakfast table, told daughter and granddaughter he felt a little short of breath and slightly nauseated; went into the bathroom, closed door, they heard a "thump," couldn't get the door open because he was lying against it. Son-in-law called us, broke out bathroom window and crawled in from outside -- found him lying dead on floor.

In both cases, autopsy showed massive heart attack due to blockage in several cardiac arteries. That's probably what happened to Scalia.

If he'd been awake, nitroglycerin tablets and a helicopter to a heart cath lab may have saved him.
