So Donald Trump tweeted his thanks to Sarah Palin after his South Carolina win?

So as you guys know Trump won South Carolina yesterday.

And as you also know Sarah Palin was nowhere to be found.

Instead she was at an Iron Dog banquet, posing with one of her flying monkeys.
(Update: My bad this is NOT Sheppard. Though it seems he attempted to give that impression.)

To be fair she DID take a moment to post this in support of Trump on her Facebook page.

Today is the day South Carolina! Get out and vote for Donald J. Trump! Make America Great Again! 
Posted by Sarah Palin on Saturday, February 20, 2016
But that was pretty much it.

However it was enough for Trump to tweet out his thanks for her "amazing help and support."
Really?

I think his extra stretchy, loose fitting boxer shorts gave him more support than Sarah Palin did in South Carolina.

So now this has me thinking.

What exactly IS the deal between Sarah Palin and Donald Trump?

You would think that after her disastrous speech in Iowa, and her son's recent arrest for punching and kicking his girlfriend while in a drunken rage, Trump would keep her as far away as possible from his campaign.

And yet he sends that tweet.

So then I started to think the unthinkable.

Is it possible that Donald Trump is so arrogant, and full of hubris, that he thinks he can make her his running mate and still win the election?

I mean think of it.

If this whole campaign is essentially a fuck you to President Obama, who  embarrassed him so completely during that White House Correspondents Dinner, then who better to put on the ticket than the woman responsible for the "death panels" BS?

I'm not saying that this is what he is considering, but then again there is literally no predicting what he is considering.

As for how I feel about this, on the one hand for an Alaska based political blogger it would be like a dream come true, but for a human being living on planet earth, it is absolutely beyond terrifying.

Thoughts?

I look at it this way, $arah's support hurts Trump when it comes to a good portion of the electorate.

Works for me. She'll do for Trump what she did for John McCain. Youbetcha!

These Trump voters are much crazier than the people who backed McCain. She cost McCain votes but amongst this Trump demographic I'm pretty certain that her brand of racist populism would be seen as a positive.

The 'Donald' must be ready to commit Political Suicide. The only way that he would pick Palin as a running mate is if he is ready to QUIT. This facade was for his ego only, and the RNC will have a brokered convention to stop Trump. Trump will then run as a 3rd party candidate in retaliation and split the votes. Do it, Donald! Hillary will be a shoe in.

@8:48AM -- Ready? No, that's not it at all. That has been The Donald's game plan all along. He doesn't really want to be President.

Donald has a reputation for being extremely frugal with his money. Think about that for just a moment, then ask yourself "If he's that frugal, why would he self-fund his campaign?" Well, there's a good answer to that question.

Donald is very thin-skinned and cannot take criticism (or jokes about him) in stride. If he accepted other people's money to run, then bailed at the last minute, he would face public criticism for being a fraud and fleecing people. Donald would not take kindly to such remarks. Thus to avoid that, he's paying his own way because to him, it's just a game he wants to play.

Even if Trump goes all the way to being the nominee and names Sarah to the ticket, he knows it will be the final nail in the campaign coffin. Sarah is his out, the pin on his campaign grenade. It's just a question now of when the grenade will blow it all out of the water.

He will never sit in the Oval Office as the President of our country.

Trump's "political advisors"? If he has them they do what HE says, not the other way around. If anything they'd be covering for Palin and spinning any Palin negatives as positives, or just blaming Obama.

The media? They already had their chance and decided to NOT go after her, plus, by all accounts they work for Donald Trump now, kissing his ass and covering his every move, getting clicks and viewership. Do you think for a second that the media would risk their golden egg by digging too deep in the mysteries surrounding Trump's running mate?

No innocent teen deserves to have a dozen hypocritical liberals stalk their myspace and create propaganda and lies). But family dust ups typically don't mean much if democrats are any example. Lots of drama in Dems lives that goes unnoticed. If a democrats kid parties with other students, the media will lambast critics and say "let Malia O be normal." There is a double standard and people love to tear down good, close normal republican families and pretend as if they live wth pretense because that gives a critic false justification to bully.

But I doubt there's an agreement between the two. just a hunch.

Unfortunately the first shock of discovering the truth about Palin has faded. People (and especially the media) are accustomed to Palin's stupidity and ignorance. Even though the Iowa speech for Trump exposed Palin's flaws, Trump probably thinks he can exploit the Palin brand with tightly controlled appearances. It's really a question of getting Palin's drug cocktail just right, then she can be trusted for 5-10 minutes in front of a crowd. After all, her main appeal is to get old, white men all tingly, it's not rocket science.

Democrats Rejoice As Trump Dooms Republicans By Going Birther On Marco Rubio

...The reason Donald Trump is the Republican frontrunner is because no candidate has been better at appealing to the dark underbelly of the Republican Party. Trump knows exactly what to say to appeal to ugliest biases and fears of primary voters.

Trump willingness to pull the full birther on the Republican field is an omen of how low he is willing to go to win the nomination. The Republican Party’s last best hope (Marco Rubio) is about to battered and bruised in his most vulnerable spot by Donald Trump.

Democrats can barely contain their glee as Donald Trump is guaranteeing that none of the Republican candidates will make it out of the primary politically viable for November.

I don't think Republican primary voters really care about Trump's supposed "liberal beliefs." He has down-pat the one and only thing they do care about: blind, irrational, fact-free, intemperate hatred of the current President. And Mexicans. And Muslims. And "Washington elites." And whoever else they've been told to hate this week.

Trump appeals to and embodies the prime emotional movers of Republican politics: self-congratulation and resentment. He's the hero of his own private mythology. Just like his constituency.

I don't think he'd pick her! Really would surprise me if he did. He knows the majority despise her and that in the long run she would not be a benefit to his campaign.

For the few votes she might garner - he'll just keep in touch publically to possibly get those votes.

I'm sure his family members have told him 'don't pick Sarah Palin'! They would not mix well at all - water and oil!

Can you imagine the two families having to do things together? It would turn into a huge joke - since the Palins are nothing more than 'white trash' from a small town in Alaska!

Plus, Sarah and Todd Palin have way too much baggage and a campaign would bring it out - to the degree Sarah Palin has never experienced! The result: A massive embarrassment to Donald Trump and his gang and a 'for sure' loss - similar to the results McCain experienced by putting the proven idiot on his ticket!

He's not spending any time on figuring out just HOW he's going to make all his promises come about, because he knows perfectly well that all he has to do is make those promises and the stupid and ignorant will believe him. He's also smart enough to know he won't be able to withstand the vetting of himself, nor the slings and arrows of dirt that will be thrown at him by the Democrats, so I strongly suspect that he'll withdraw before the GOP convention because of some totally fictional reason. He'll have achieved his goal of "winning" and the GOP be damned.

Trump (now) knows that Sarah is crazy as a loon. Also, too, any media association with her trashy, prone to violence, alcoholic spawn is to be avoided at all costs.

Sarah as much as stabbed the slimy Cruz in the back, to go campaign for the uber wealthy Trump. Whether Trump invited Palin on board or whether she forced herself on his organization (my guess) is yet to be revealed.

It's really hard to figure out what all these players have planned.

But, with Palin and Trump and those who grovel at their fungus-filled toes, it's all about pretending and image creating.

We shouldn't be too worried; Trump is a master illusionist. He's all about creating a fantasy, and uses those phonies who will complement that fantasy. I believe this counterfeit Trump campaign is a huge circus act, with Trump not really that interested in a dignified noble Office of President of the US. He may be hoping, if elected, that he can manipulate Congress and the Senate into getting Big Banks and Wall Street to work towards his best interests, so he can work on his portfolio and business interests behind the scenes.

The conservatives have built this and now they can deal with it.

I doubt very much Trump would choose Palin. She comes with too much obvious baggage.

I suspect the GOP and Trump would make their peace with the VP pick. Trump needs their backing (and tgeir apparatus) in the fall. Letting the RNC pick someone like Kasich for the ballot would be a small price to pay. (This isn't unprecedented. The GOP picked Reagan's VP in 1980 -- first, Gerald Ford, then George Bush -- because the establishment didn't trust Reagan at all.)

Trump/Kasich makes a lot of sense. Kasich is an experienced political operator, and he shores up Trump in areas that he's weak.

Once she endorsed Trump, he got 1/2 of her voting base and she got 1/2 of all of the money he promised her. I think this was his standard tweet to all of those who helped. It was not personal at all. He is smart enough not to make waves with her and asked her for nothing. He did not invite her to join him like Cruz did Dakota. Nothing offered here for her. You can see it was not personal, inserted SarahPac USA... not personal at all. I can see his staff send this to all people with Pacs and people who did not attend any functions.

I don't see anywhere, anytime that indicated Trump would choose Sarah for anything. I am sure if you asked Trump if he would pick Santa Claus, he would say he would have some place on his cabinet for him. Sarah is finished...

I highly doubt it. Remember she said she didn't need a title to do what she was called to by the "gawd" voice in her head. She's up to her wonky eyeballs in this behind the scenes. What a x-tian.

I doubt we will ever see her again. You can bet he got a lot of calls to ditch her. You can see he did not need her at all in SC. I bet he never promised her a specific post in his cabinet, but might offer her a dog catcher job in Alaska. And you can bet the family has been following her Bristol and Track episodes. She made a fool out of herself in her last stump speech and I bet he, his family and many phone calls from donors said drop her.

All Sarah Palin did was get him a lot of negative publicity. Not all publicity is good publicity. There are no occasions when domestic violence is good publicity.

She campaigned all over Iowa for Trump and he was well beaten by Cruz and almost by Rubio. He would have realized that Sarah Palin's endorsement was worth nothing.

First,Trump already said he would not choose her as VP because she is not great and he is going to choose someone great.

Second, some of you Alaskans keep telling us she can't run for any political office because of the reasons for her resignation. She made a deal.

So now, if you are talking about her as VP, this deal must not be true and we the American public still don't know why she really resigned, which should be public knowledge because Sarah really isn't anyone special, except as a traitor to everything that makes the USA so wonderful.

She didn't make a "deal" she just quit her job to make some money. She made some money off the Teabaggers but now that she chose Trump her money days are over.

She'll never run for any Alaskan office again, that's for sure and it looks like any national aspirations she has would have to be allied with Trump because now, he's her only friend.

Have you read her Facebook comments since her endorsement of Trump and her shitting on Ted Cruz?

Lotta negatives; few positives nationally, and really, Alaskans were done with her a long time ago.

She's become her own "bridge to nowhere" unless the bridge leads to Trumpville.

1:10 Sorry, but I don't know of any Alaskans who say they know she made a deal to not run again.

That weirdo who does the head tilt Russian billionaire exhume bodies DNA crap is the one who said again and again that there was a deal.

We Alaskans (I did not vote for her) have never been given a decent reason for her unplanned get out of office quick, heavy breathing, full of crazy resignation speech.

QUITTER. Always has been. Always will be.

Most people count their achievements, Sarah counts the number of things she quits.

Do you see that Bristol and Sarah are not getting any media coverage. No one is posting anything on them except what Bristol sells pictures and her side of things. Sarah is completely out of the picture, old news. I think this is great. Watch them grab anything now to get in the news. Absolutely no one wants them anymore or worse, not close to them. Sarah finally made it.... grab your popcorn because Sarah and Bristol are the last kernels in the bag...

I think it's great Sarah is worried about Track and brought him with her to the party. Sarah looks very proud of Track in his Army uniform in the second picture. Sarah is a mama grizzly who keeps her cub close to her while he is recovering. Just imagine if Sarah left Track at home alone with liquor and guns in the house.

If Track is in uniform you know he is heavily medicated and pliable. He is terrified of going to court and he is clinging to mommy to save him. He will take anything and do anything. It is really not a good sign if that is true. It is a temporary fix for Sarah.

Sarah has to impress Trump and look like a good mother. Trump did choose women that were good mothers, plus they had all the domestic help in the world and any parenting money could buy. Trump could be an authoritarian father and they did not have all the anger and violence with the children around. Trump would have employees that schedule things just right and appropriate for when the kids were around.

He also made certain his kids were educated.

I think you are on to something, Gryphen. If Trump promised Palin his running mate slot, that would explain why she so readily unhitched her wagon from Cruz and attached it to Trump. There had to be something BIG "in it for her" to make supporting Trump worth trashing her evangelical cred (phony as it is) for.

As to what Trump gets out of it? Plenty. He and Sarah are two disgruntled peas in a pod, as you indicated. Even though supporting Trump cost Sarah some followers, it didn't cost Trump any. He is such an extreme candidate that he's not going to have a long list of potential running mates, and he's trashed and alienated all the Republicans currently running, so he can't really choose a running mate from among them. Who else would be interested besides someone like Sarah, someone as vile as he is?

The press treats Trump with kid gloves, just like they treated Palin in 2008. I really don't think she has a thing to worry about, vetting-wise. The MSM still won't mention her family issues except in passing, if that, because they will be too afraid that Trump will berate and ridicule them for it.

A match made in hell! Trump/Palin 2016... it makes total -- sick, but total -- sense to me. Unlike some posters here, I have always believed Trump is dead serious about getting the Republican nomination, and winning the election. He is too big of a monster megalomaniac not to be. And if he didn't think Sarah Palin could help him, he wouldn't be keeping her in the game with him.

WTF? Sarah Palin posted some pictures at the Iron Dog. I noticed some writing on her hat and Piper's beanie. I thought that was cute that those two had matching black hats with TEAM PALIN or something to show they are proud of Todd and stand with him in what is probably Todd's last Iron Dog.

    Piper Palin's hat says:

    "IRON DOG TEAM #11"

    To my surprise,
    Sarah Palin's hat says:

    "MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN"

Sarah, fuck Donald Trump! You're at the Iron Dog with your HUSBAND!

Is Sarah at the Iron Dog for a photo op while deep down inside Sarah wants to leave her family to be with Donald?

When Track was arrested for being drunk with a weapon and for Domestic Violence when he bashed in his girlfriend's face, we noticed Sarah was still standing with Donald and it took her a while before she went home. Did Trump tell Sarah she should be with her son?

      Delete
    2. Anonymous4:20 PM

Track was drunk with an assault weapon in the midst of two or more houses and various buildings with arsenal all around.

He was threatening. There was a report about suicide, the police arrived and that was not the case.

Instead Track was arrested for other violence. If he wasn't serious with a threat to off himself, who was he threatening? Jordan was found having been terrorized.

I think Trump would want to handle Sarah and her crazy dangerous family with kid gloves. While he is playing the candidate he wants to appear to be making good choices with the people he appears in public with and he allows to talk about him as a great candidate/President.

So many times people who beat up wives and such learn the behavior at their childhood homes. Trump does not know what will come out eventually. He will go with the Obama did it for now.

Trump does not want to be part of some lies and hiding a rotten kid, as that would make the situation worse because the police made an arrest and if he was helping Sarah cover up he would look like an idiot and worse.

I think he would be like a 'good father' and tell her she was needed at home to deal with everything. Try to get the kid out of his legal trouble and clean him up.

If their people communicate and she wants to come back to rally and speak for Trump, they are telling her to fix the problems in Wasilla first. Get a lawyer. Do what a good wife and mother does.

Sarah would believe when things are better she can campaign with Trump again. She will be in the spotlight and doing her show on the main stage.

Trump people are not going to say to her what they actually think or feel. Why do that? He has her where he wants her and he can go about it in a nice way and not make waves for his campaign.

If Ivanka and the sons take some time to do a little investigation, they will see that Track has long time anger and severe problems. If they take the time to pay attention to the difference in the publicity crap and all the false stories about Track and dig into the police reports and prior facts about his anger. They can see he is not a man Trump would want little Baron or any of the others to be around if they were to have a happy family campaigning together for the evangelical or any religious votes he may want.

He may not even want the mother that raised a guy with a false military story and who was angry and addicted before he was forced into the military.

I think all the adulation has gone to Trump's heads, unfortunately, as far as picking Sarah for anything, robo calls, a spare roll of toilet paper, or something to wipe that last dribble of Trump urine from his micro pecker, I just don't "see the love" between the two. They're two parasites on a trip to nowhere.
What I found hilarious was his "letting" Lovey number three "speak". Today on CNN he said, her academic background, her beauty, and her classy style would make her a wonderful first lady, however she focuses on the most important thing to her, being a mother to Baaaaaahrrrrron. Couldn't make out everything she said about her husband, but she said he would make a vondervul pwezident, knows how to make the deals etc etc etc." To me, she's got low energy and doesn't seem to bright, maybe that's what draws him to tundra turd?

I know, right? Melania with her weird accent is everything that Trump supporters aren't in favor of. Go figure. Commie Dad, woman from communist block country, but even with her basic grasp of the english language she still doesn't seem to be a negative for him.

This is exactly why his campaign has people so confused; his supporters aren't "demographically quantifiable" they are all over the place and seem to think whatever he says and does is acceptable. They are a people without a platform, and the only thing they have in common is supporting whatever Donald J. Trump has to say.

From a political science point of view, this is very fascinating and absolutely outside of the realm of anyone's ability to predict.
