So here's another dirty trick by the Ted Cruz campaign. Try to act surprised.

Courtesy of HuffPo:

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) is out with a deceptive new mailer that masquerades as official government business and promises people there's a "check enclosed" when it's actually asking for money instead.

A New Jersey resident sent The Huffington Post the latest piece of mail he received from Cruz's campaign. The envelope appears to have come from Cruz's Senate office and has his name printed the same way it often is for Senate business. In small type the mailer clarifies that it is for "personal" matters and was not sent at taxpayers' expense. It also promises a check.

But the check inside -- which is made out to the Cruz campaign, not to the voter -- is fake. The accompanying letter promises that a "group of generous supporters" have promised to match donations received in response to the mailer.

HuffPo has the actual letter inside so you can read for yourself just how sleazy the Cruz campaign is willing to get in order to trick people out of their money.

You know it's like Cruz decided that everybody thinks hes' a slimy POS anyway, so why not go for it.

He looks exactly like what he is, a totally creepy, slimy creature that crawled out from under a rock. No wonder he makes people shudder. His eyes are like a snake's eyes, ever waiting for an opportunity to strike, while parading around as a good Christian. Yet, he is just another megalomaniac in sheep's clothing, much like his former friend Sarah.

Have you ever looked at his hands? They do not look like they belong on his body. I wonder if there are surgical scars above his wrists, weird. and snarky

He and his stupid bag of tricks make my skin crawl. What a despicable misuse of the mail system. There ought to be a law.

The law, House Bill 1265, authored by Houston Democrat Gene Wu, required solicitations resembling government notices, checks or negotiable invoices to include, “in at least 18-point type,” the words “SPECIMEN-NON-NEGOTIABLE.”

Cruz’s mailer said — in small type — “this check is a facsimile not redeemable or negotiable and has no cash value.”

The complaint was filed with the state attorney general by Progress Texas.

...or your grammar ap. your "it's" should be "its" -- it is simple to remember: if you can break down "it's" into IT IS, it is correct. If not, use ITS.

IM people are better at grammar than SP people.

I read this nonsense over the weekend on the web site of a certain, well-written, often humorous, "professional political organization". The work there is written by "Juanita Jean", a Texas woman whose husband received the same curious thing from Cruz. She sent back her own personal check in response to the Cruz letter, but it's most definitely NOT the response the Cruz campaign was expecting. It makes me smile, in fact, to see what she did. You can read all about it at http://juanitajean.com/it-just-got-real-personal/

Saw an interview with an undecided voter coming out of a Cruz rally couple days ago. He said he couldn't get past the feeling that Cruz was a "sleezeball". Interviewer seemed embarrassed that went out live, chuckled and said "that was harsh".

Oh, is this that business where they mail you a check, and it has very tiny print on the back that you are consenting to let them pull money out of your checking account?

Because I got one of those from the Repub's back in 1988, when Elder Bush was running for Reagan's third term.

ed Cruz In Hot Water Over Possibly Illegal Fundraising Letter Sent To Voters

A complaint has been filed against Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz after the Republican may have violated Texas state law with an illegal fundraising letter.

...The solicitation came in an envelope featuring a return address in official government type and the words “check enclosed.” The “check” was a fake check made out to Cruz’s campaign, accompanied by a missive asking the recipient to send in a “matching donation.”

Such fundraising techniques are relatively common, but in Texas they may now be illegal under a law passed last year by the state Legislature.

Even Ted Cruz’s family thinks he’s creepy — and here are four ways we know that

    Nobody likes Ted Cruz.

Since the day he sashayed into the Senate, thinking he was the new President from Texas, Cruz has endeared himself to exactly no one except for a few House members he convinced to shut down the government. For freedom.

A simple Google search of ‘Hate+Ted+Cruz’ turns up this kind of media coverage:

I love it that Stinky Ted Nugent has just apparently endorsed Cruz.

Does that mean it's over between Stinky Ted and Stinky Sarah?

It was Tina Dupuy that compiled the list of Sarah's enemies, I think it might have still been double digits- so you know it was a long time ago.

As much as this terrifies me, I find it funny how c4p faithful split themselves when Palin backed Trump and now disparage her on other sites.

I still say every last one of the GOP are running on a slate of hate and fear, and have yet to see any of them put forward honest thoughts of how to fix it because they HAVE no solutions. NONE if them.

  19. Does Cruz encourage everyone to chip in, to defeat SOCIALISM?

I've seen that posted in social media as both a JOKE, and as a serious con for donations from the especially fatuous.

(I've been dying for a chance to use that word!)

  20. Christie is busy taking down Rubio, the White Supremacists are "helping" Trump to defeat and Cruz is basically torpedoing himself by being Ted Cruz.

    Who will be left?

I think Paul and Huckleberry have already dropped out.

    Carly doesn't stand a chance.

So it's Christie, Kasich, Jeb! if he holds on for a little longer (but he'll eventually die for lack of donors and a shrinking war chest)

If we were to eliminate one, I believe it would be Christie. That would leave ol jub and Kasich.

Who can believe ol jub will eventually get the nomination?

At this point I say it's Trump.

My husband (who is not a registered voter for legitimate reasons) received the letter. I followed Juanita Jean's excellent lead and sent a check for a couple of pennies, payable to myself, with a "ha ha F U" memo. Wrote "check enclosed" on the envelope. Well worth the postage cost for the satisfaaction.
