The moment when last night's GOP debate went off the rails.

Courtesy of Think Progress:

During the second hour of the GOP debate in South Carolina on Saturday, the conversation went beyond anything ever seen in a Republican debate.

After the six men hurled insults back and forth, the debate took a steep dive into chaos around when Cruz hit Trump for previously supporting liberal policies.

“The next president is going appoint one, two, three, four Supreme Court Justices,” Cruz said. “If Donald Trump is president, he will appoint liberals. If Donald Trump is president… your Second Amendment will go away. You know how I know that?”

CBS moderator John Dickerson cut him off.

“Hold on gentlemen. I’m going to turn this car around,” Dickerson said.

"I'm going to turn this car around." Seriously?

These are supposed to be grown men, and they are acting like children fighting over a Gameboy in the backseat of their parent's car.

The above exchange, and when Marco Rubio accused Ted Cruz of not speaking Spanish, were my two favorite moments of the debate.

And by favorite, I mean moments when I hoped that those watching turned to each other and said "Well we certainly cannot let any of THESE idiots near the White House."

\The mods should have firm control over the debaters, but more importantly, the audience -- who were clearly out of control. No a good night for the GOP.

Maybe the network should bring back the old game show isolation booth so mics can be cut when things go off the rails.

The only similarity to a debate was the first letter of the word: "d", as in debacle.

Remember Dickerson saying, "This is about to go into the dirt?" Understatement of the year.

      speaking of networks and debates

Fox News sought Sunday to enlist a high-profile supporter for its campaign to land a Democratic presidential debate: Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders. Bernie and Fox and in cahoots now?

Or maybe the first four letters in "debate" and "debacle."

slipstream knows how to count, he do.

  2. And that is the GOP in a nutshell. Somebody needed to turn the damn car around a long time ago---or at least pull off on the side of the road and separate the fighting,
    over sugared, potentially dangerous children.

They want their nominee to pick 4 Supreme Court Justices, but say that 2 is enough for Obama?

How about Obama appoint Hillary to the Supreme Court and then the Repubes don't have to worry about her in the election? Problem solved!

Yea, 12:04, unreal isn't it? And then they pout and shut down if they don't get their way. Disturbing to say the least.

Talking over one another with specious "facts" and faux outrage, is precisely the kind of exchange that FOX viewers adore in Bill O'Reilly and the like. A regular FOX viewer would see nothing unusual or objectionable in the above clip where Cruz and Trump stomp all over debate protocol.

For a FOX TV addict, this is exactly what is RIGHT about the GOP and WRONG about the Democratic Party. Truth, logic and courtesy are simply anathema to them.

When they were in the thick of it, my husband said, "If Trump were not there, republicans would believe this looks normal'. Thanks to Trump everyone knows this IS NOT normal.

Awaiting the "real" housewife of Wasilla to show up and tell everyone in South Carolina how to vote when she made a mess of her own family for selfish purposes.

First the gun nuts said, "If Bill Clinton is elected president, they will come and take away all your guns!"

Then they said, "If Barack Obama is elected president, they will come and take away all your guns!"

Now it's "If Donald Trump is elected president, they will come and take away all your guns!"

    Good grief, Charlie Brown.

Finally something Trump said I agree on, Planned Parenthood does do a lot of good things. Ted Cruz doesn't want women to have access to birth control since it is against his religious beliefs. I guess lying isn't against his beliefs........

      ********************
It is against his personal beliefs, because birth control is not against Christian beliefs.

    2. He also attacked GW Bush with all the lies and failures of his war and his administration.

Neither Jeb! nor Rubio liked that. The truth hurts.

Pres. Obama Might Troll Senate GOP By Appointing New S.C. Justice On His Own

Could Obama Bypass Senate GOP With Recess Appointment?

...In other words, as the GOP melts down before the world and proves over and over again they’d rather obstruct than lead. And should their gerrymandering antics be challenged before a deadlocked Supreme Court, the more liberal lower federal courts would be poised to undo the damage the Republican gerrymanders did in 2012.

CBS' thrill ride of a debate

John Dickerson let the candidates go at it, and go at it they did.

That wasn't a debate, people talking over each other, out of turn, past their allotted time, and the monitors had no control whatsoever. Im going to turn this car around, wait till your father gets home, and "That it, you're going to bed without shoes tonight"
I kind of pity those close to the front row, at the circus, when those abused Elephants turn on pedestals, their poop flings out and arches, hitting all the pricey seats with Zoo Poo. Same thing here. Now Jeb Exclamation Point is bringing the mother of all bombs, his brother, George W Bush, former president, now oil painter extraordinaire, along with him. Would love to see Trump and them cross paths.
That wasn't a debate, it was a train wreck.

Did anyone notice that Ben Carson brought up that he'd read some very nasty comments online about Scalia just hours after his death? I suppose the good doctor has never had the chance to read any of the nasty and racist things written about President Obama in the past 7+ years.

They called each other liars 22 times during the debate, so at least there was some truth told.
