It's going to be a little hard or Donald Trump to restart America's torture program if the torturers refuse to torture.

Courtesy of Newsweek:

Donald Trump would face huge resistance at the CIA if he were elected president and ordered the spy agency to resume waterboarding—or “worse,” as the Republican candidate has repeatedly pledged.

John Rizzo, who was a top CIA lawyer during the time the agency used “enhanced interrogation techniques,” or EITs, on prisoners, predicts CIA officials would rather resign than obey orders to revert to “hard measures” like waterboarding and beatings.

“I think certainly many of those who were connected to the EIT program over its six years’ span—and hundreds are still there—would‎ resign or retire rather than have to go down that perilous road again,” Rizzo tells Newsweek. “Who could blame them?”

As pretty much everybody, who is not Donald Trump, knows torture not only does not work, but it is against EVERYTHING this country stands for.

And the very idea that Trump wants to take America back to the shameful days of the Bush administration should disqualify him from any consideration as our Commander-in-Chief.

However since we have apparently been thrown into some kind of alternate reality, it hasn't.

And because it hasn't we also get to hear the ignorant things that Trump has to say about the Pope:

In an interview with Fox Business Network, Trump was asked about Pope Francis’ visit to Mexico, where he intends pray with undocumented immigrants and immigration activists and celebrate Mass along the U.S.-Mexico.

“The pope is a very political person,” Trump said. “I think he doesn't understand the problems our country has. I don't think he understands the danger of the open border that we have with Mexico.”

Trump then implied that the Mexican government forced the Holy Father to take a stand on immigration.

That's right because Mexico has so much control over the Pope, right?

But it doesn't make any difference, this will not damage his poll numbers either because you know, that whole alternate reality thing.

People exploit the prestige of popes for political gain. It's been that way for centuries.

Glenn Beck Goes Nuclear on ‘Narcissistic Psychopath’ Donald Trump: ‘Four Years of This Bully Will Lead to Civil War’

Glenn Beck unloaded on Republican presidential contender Donald trump after Saturday night’s debate, characterizing him as a “narcissistic psychopath” who is in desperate need of a “diagnosis.”

“Tonight’s debate is the most uncomfortable, angry, hate-filled 2 hours I have ever experienced,” Beck wrote on Facebook. “Is anyone else shaken by this? I found it seriously and deeply disturbing.”

“The psychiatric community needs to step up and address what we are witnessing,” continued the conservative personality, who has endorsed Texas Sen. Ted Cruz. “This man is a narcissistic psychopath. That is NOT name calling, that is a search for a diagnosis. If he is not then he is merely a game show host that is trying to get ratings. If that is true, that, in and of itself, is a sign of a deep disturbance.” “I believe, if this is not the eye opening moment for America on who Donald Trump is at the core, this country is surely lost,” he wrote. “Four years of this bully will lead to civil war or worst. The poison that is being injected into our body couldn’t be more toxic.

    1. Anonymous10:11 AM

Glenn is an asshole because Cruz is equally as bad or worse.

PS. Where is Sarah? Why isn't she out on the trail in SC for Trump?

    2. Anonymous10:26 AM

$arah is not in SC because SarahPAC is almost broke

    3. The goppers gotta really take stock, if their own personal narcissistic psychopath is SO upset with the Trumpter -- takes one to know one.

    4. Anonymous11:20 AM

Was he talking about Trump or the guy he saw in the mirror that morning?

      Wow, talk about projection!

    5. Anonymous12:00 PM

You and your buddies made this Glenn Beck, now own it!

  3. Anonymous9:09 AM

It's why he keeps Palin around. After 5 MI utes listening to Ssreechy Sarah, most people would confess to anything to make it stop.

    1. Anonymous9:42 AM

I'll bet ol' Boopsie can't wait to get to SC only to embarrass herself yet again. It's a given.

    2. Anonymous11:21 AM

Who has seen Sarah Palin with him of late on the campaign trail? I've not! Think Trump has figured out that she is the 'kiss of death'.

He's going down - was horrid in the recent debate - he's one putrid hunk of fat!

Loved hearing him booed (A LOT) by the crowd at the debate. He's not use to that at all. I find it way past time he take every bit of negative he has coming his way. He's created it all himself!

He's going to end up going away eventually with his tail between his legs!

  4. Anonymous9:20 AM

It'll be interesting to see if Trump gets Sarah Palin to do a FB post siding with his comment that Bush did not keep us safe during 9/11. Or to see if she even touches his comments at all.

    1. Anonymous9:41 AM

Yes, I agree. Babs Bush doesn't care much for Sarah. Remember ma Bush saying that Sarah should 'stay in Alaska.' She doesn't think much of Sarah apparently. But that could have been because Babs saw Sarah's popularity several years ago as a threat to Jebya.

    2. Anonymous9:42 AM

Also, will Bristol post in regard to Trump's comment about supporting Planned Parenthood?

    3. Anonymous9:50 AM

Yeah, c'mon Brancy. Comment on PP!
      We're waiting. LOL

    4. Anonymous10:24 AM

Bernie Sanders weighed in on Planned Parenthood in a derogatory way, equating them to the establishment.

    5. Anonymous10:28 AM

Looks like Bristol is too busy telling everyone how to survive Valentine's Day alone!
      What a fool...

    6. Anonymous10:30 AM

I think Trump has figured out that Sarah Palin isn't a help to his campaign.

    7. Anonymous10:58 AM

Some of the highly paid upper echelons of PP and HRC are part of the political establishment, that "inside the beltway cocktail weenie circuit". In the true context of his comments, those are who he was talking about, not the work of PP and HRC

    8. Anonymous1:02 PM

Bernie Sanders himself, being in congress for decades, is part of the establishment. Oh, the irony....

  5. Anonymous9:35 AM

This from a "church goer" that doesn't know the difference between an offering plate and communion tray.

    Shove it, Donnie.

    1. Anonymous4:43 PM

Yet he luvs his little cookie and sip of wine. (he can't even get a ritualistic re enactment of cannibalism right, and he want's to be POTUS?)

  6. Anonymous9:45 AM

I had a delightful picture in my mind of the Donald and Palin being filmed while being waterboarded so that they could claim that it is not torture.

  7. Anonymous10:01 AM

I hate to say this but

If Trump put a couple of guys in uniform out in front of the Anchorage Baptist Temple at a table under a sign saying Help Wanted OFFICIAL US GOVERNMENT Muslim Torture Program Volunteer Torturers NEEDED NOW he would have all the volunteers he needed.

  8. 66gardeners10:23 AM

from where I sit, Trump has been torturing republicans just being in the race.

    Thanks Obama?

  9. Anonymous10:25 AM

Watched the Republican debate and thought Trump came off horribly. Mean, nasty, ugly in facial appearance, bad mouthing family members of others, etc.

The guy does NOT represent the majority in the USA at all! He's a monster and I think the Republican party is going to lose big time....especially as we watch them in action (US Congress) now due to the death of Justice Scalia!

Mitch McConnell is speaking the exact same 'hate speech' he did right after President Obama won the first time! They truly are a sick, sick party!

President Obama has every right to nominate a candidate for the Supreme Court and should. He's going to and watch them squirm! You go, President Obama!!

    1. Anonymous10:32 AM

Trump seems like the kind of guy who used to threaten the younger kids with swirleys in the bathroom.

Obama Supreme Court Recess Appointment Possible According To Senate Judiciary Democrat

Mitch McConnell In 2005 Disagrees With Mitch McConnell Now On Obama Replacing Scalia

    4. Anonymous11:46 AM

Hillary Clinton called Senator Mitch McConnell’s statement that the next president, not President Obama, should appoint a successor to Justice Scalia “disappointing” and “totally out of step with our history and our constitutional principle.”

Speaking at a Democratic fund-raising dinner in Denver, Mrs. Clinton denounced Republican presidential candidates and the Senate majority leader’s pledge to not allow Mr. Obama to replace Mr. Scalia, who passed away at a West Texas ranch on Saturday. “For any of us who needed a reminder of just how important it is to take back the U.S. Senate and hold onto the White House, just look at the Supreme Court,” Mrs. Clinton said.

“I know that our thoughts and prayers are with the Scalia family tonight and I am also thinking and praying for the future of our country,” she said. “It is outrageous that Republicans in the Senate and on the campaign trail have already pledged to block any replacement that President Obama nominates”

“Barack Obama is the president of the United States until Jan. 20, 2017,” she continued. “That is a fact, my friends, whether Republicans like it or not.”

And he has a Constitutional duty to nominate a successor to fill that vacancy, just as Republicans have a duty to give that nominee a vote. It's up to us to make sure they understand that duty and carry it out.

I would love to smash my fist repeatedly into Mitch McConnell's ugly face. He is truly despicable.

Chuck Schumer DESTROYS Ted Cruz Over Vow To Block Obama SCOTUS Nominee (VIDEO)

...Appearing on This Week on Sunday morning, the Senator laid into Cruz’s plans:

“Well, the job, first and foremost, is for the president to nominate and for the Senate to hold hearings and go through the process. You know, the Constitution, Ted Cruz holds the Constitution when he walks through the halls of Congress. Let him show me the clause that says president’s only president for three years.”

After making his point about Cruz, Schumer then turned his attentions to Mitch McConnell’s obstructionism.

“You know, the kind of obstructionism that Mitch McConnell’s talking about, he’s harking back to his old days, you know, he recently he said, well, ‘I want regular order.’ But in 2010, right after the election or right during the election, he said, ‘My number one job is to defeat Barack Obama,’ without even knowing what Barack Obama was going to propose. Here, he doesn’t even know who the president’s going to propose and he said, ‘no, we’re not having hearings, we’re not going to go forward to lead the Supreme Court vacant at 300 days in a divided time.’”

“This kind of obstructionism isn’t going to last. And you know, we Democrats didn’t do this. We voted 97-0 for Justice Kennedy in the last year of Reagan’s term. I think first the American people don’t like this obstruction. When you go right off the bat and say, ‘I don’t care who he nominates, I am going to oppose him,’ that’s not going to fly.”

Indeed it’s not going to fly. These people hate the sitting President so much that they are willing to leave a vacant seat on the court before they let anyone he might nominate through. Senator Schumer is right — no reasonable American would go for this. Let Cruz and the rest of the GOP hang themselves with this one, though. It will only be a matter of time.

One Chart Obliterates The Republican Argument For Obstructing Obama’s SCOTUS Nominee

Here is an easy-to-read chart that even a ten year old can comprehend, which shows that the Senate has managed to confirm a presidential nominee for the Supreme Court in a mere 19 days, so it's hard to understand why Republicans feel they can't possibly get this done in the next 342 days.

    10. Anonymous12:39 PM

How Long Does It Take to Confirm
      a Supreme Court Nominee?

The death of Justice Antonin Scalia has set off a partisan battle over whether the Senate will confirm a successor nominated by President Obama, whose term expires in 342 days. The Senate has never taken more than 125 days to vote on a successor from the time of nomination; on average, a nominee has been confirmed, rejected or withdrawn in 25 days.

    11. Anonymous1:06 PM

Bernie Sanders also came out against republicans trying to block a SC nominee. His supporters had no comment.

    12. Anonymous4:47 PM

Scalia is replaceable. Here's what he stood for.

The family declined an autopsy, RIP anyway.

  10. Anonymous10:29 AM

Donald Trump would whine immediately and spell any beans he knows (does he know much about anything - especially our government?) were he tortured.

Can you see him undergoing what John McCain did when they tortured him? Donald Trump would be crying his eyes out before they even started!!

Trump is a loser and is physically and mentally inept too! I think he's a fat tub of lard! Can you tell I detest the man?

    1. Anonymous10:59 AM

Yeah, well, McCain also sang like a bird. He's a blowhard coward.

    2. Anonymous1:20 PM

Trump would sing before they even began the torture. McCain was tortured quite a long time before he did! Plus, he's living with the physical results of the torture today! Trump, on the other hand, is already a giant mental case!

    3. Anita Winecooler4:52 PM

OMGosh I can't imagine the torture McCain went through with Sarah and her family and their crash course in overt racism, crude behavior, and lack of knowledge on the most fundamental issues. The Donald looks very unhealthy to me! Pale (when w/o makeup), overweight, pained in visual expressions (often!), moves slowly (especially when compared to President Obama's limber and quick entries we've been watching all these years) and he often has a very puffy/swollen face!

If ever elected (which I seriously doubt), I think the office of POTUS would kill him - hearty attack. Seriously doubt the man would be able to handle the pressure and hate speech he'd hear daily - because he - above all others would get a lot of it and know he'd never be able to take it!

  16. Oh really? All the way back to Bush II?

You don't need to go back to Bush to find a President involved in torture. As Obama knows, there are ways around direct torture that "keep your hands clean."

In fact the Obama administration is guilty of covering up for the bush administration. If not, the Bushies should be being prosecuted for violating the Geneva Conventions.

When it comes to torture, President Obama is not one of the good guys. He just wants to come off that way.
