Courtesy of Bipartisan Report:
Republican representatives John D Cavaletto and Keith Wheeler sponsored the bill that would amend the state’s Vital Records Act. Here is the bill’s draconian thrust:
‘…provides that if the unmarried mother cannot or refuses to name the child’s father, either a father must be conclusively established by DNA evidence or, within 30 days after birth, another family member who will financially provide for the child must be named, in court, on the birth certificate.’
‘Provides that absent DNA evidence or a family member’s name, a birth certificate will not be issued and the mother will be ineligible for financial aid from the State for support of the child.’
This the kind of thing that might actually keep Bristol from throwing her panties at every Tom, Joey, and Dakota.
However on the serious side this is an extremely punitive bill that would place a victim of rape, or incest, in a terrible situation.
And there is NO reason to punish a child for a situation that is clearly no fault of their own.
Just another bill written by men to punish women, and their children, while letting the man get off scott free, if he makes his escape quickly enough that is.
Actually I read this differently. It is forcing men to be identified and it seems for child support before just giving the mom state money. I think this holds the fathers accountable too. I do agree on the rape/incest/child piece and that would have to have some sort of exception process.
ReplyDeleteAgreed.
Delete2nd agreement.
DeleteHow does one report the name of the father of a child born of rape? Also, too, this bill does punish the child for just being born.
DeleteThen your comprehension is off. Why do you hinla single mother, who decides to have a child via sperm donor cannot support a child? Denial of a bier cert. Is much more than denial of state benefits. These javkasses are misogynists. I suggest you reconsider your position of support.
DeleteHUH, 9:43 AM?
Delete‘Provides that absent DNA evidence or a family member’s name, a birth certificate will not be issued and the mother will be ineligible for financial aid from the State for support of the child.’
DeleteWell, that is one very good reason for aborting a pregnancy that resulted from rape. Another good reason to abort a pregnancy is when a women KNOWS she can not endure having to co-parent for 18 years with a sociopath.
And, just exactly, what can a child without a birth certificate do? Register for school? Get a job? Get a social security card? Is the kid supposed to erase himself/herself from the planet earth to make this lawmaker happy?
943 ok Sarah we get it! someone told you to reconsider your position of support! who was that since you seem more concerned with what than who my dear!

DeletePoor thing.

DeleteI think most, if not all states, already require that a woman provide information to establish paternity. There are exceptions for rape, incest and domestic violence but if she refuses to cooperate there are sanctions placed on the mother but not the children. If I'm not mistaken, this is already a federal regulation under TANF. But leave it to snacilbupeR to try and out mean each other.
ReplyDeleteBut to prohibit to issue the child a birth certificate is discriminatory, and a challenge in court would deem it unconstitutional. You cannot discriminate against the innocent child based on the actions of his or her parents. It's a total waste of taxpayer money.
DeleteYou aren't reading correctly. This is about ALL mothers. Even those of sufficient means to have as many kids as they want and provide for them. It essentially says women cannot be self sufficient and responsible adults.
DeleteSo lesbian couples wouldn't be able to have a birth certificate for their child, but a male gay couple could? (Didn't see where the mother's name is required). There is no right to deny a child their birth certificate (how would they go to school? get state ID? even if there was never any thought to get your lousy welfare benefits? You can't deny a citizen the right to have a birth certificate because paternity wasn't established within 30 days of birth. Seems that some in this country really, really want an illegal group of people to hate and deprive rights to, and now it is the unaborted babies who were abandoned by their fathers. We can make a whole class of slave workers from children without legal paperwork.
DeletesnacilbupeR - I like it lot!!
DeleteI think the bill is an attempt to hold men accountable for cs. Unfortunately, there are couples who deliberately do not identify the father, in order to prevent the state from going after him for some of the welfare given to the mother.
ReplyDeleteThis also overlooks that even in the cases where the mother provides the name, address, SSN, telephone number, and workplace of the father...all too often, the father skates away from his child support obligation to his children.
DeleteYep.
DeleteLocking up unemployed deadbeat fathers costs a lot less than free birth control to prevent the problem.
DeleteUnfortunately, free birth control doesn't solve the problem when people get pregnant on purpose. It wouldn't have stopped Bristol.
DeleteI wager that she will have another out of wedlock baby. How many have she had so far? Rumor is she has had 3 or 4.
ReplyDeleteRumor=6
DeleteShe is not done yet. She always needs a child, to get attntion from the tabloids. Wait until all these children grow up, and ask where their fathers are, plus read about her antics on the internet. Some role model for children.
Deleteyes, as soon as the money runs out from "marketing" Sailor, she will have a replacement.
DeleteUnless she has had a two-bull, my bet is less than 2 years.
DeleteIt's kind of like drugs. The new baby will not "produce the effect" she is used to since the Palins are not as "popular" as they used to be.
The Brand is worth all but nothing. So through no fault of poor sweet Sailor, Bristol will not get the "hit" she needs to feed her ego.
Therefore, she'll go for another infant much sooner than previously.
(And not wait the 6 years some have said with Tripp going to school and not being her "baby" any more.)
If Dakota gets custody for any lengthy bit of time look for the Pregnancy Princess to come up prego again, in short order. Boy, would she make a great three time loser.
ReplyDeleteShe is a 4 time loser.
Delete''Just another bill written by men to punish women, and their children, while letting the man get off scott free, if he makes his escape quickly enough that is.''
ReplyDeleteThe man will not get off scott free if the mother names him. If she does not name him, then she is the one punishing her child(ren).
Some of these women do not want to name the father, to keep the DA from collecting child support from him.
I am not talking about rape cases. That is just tragic all around.
Except you are talking about rape and incest cases also. Very few rapes are reported. Do you know anyone that has been raped? I bet your answer would be no, but you do. You work with women that have been raped, you get waited on in restaurants by women that have been raped, you have been treated by nurses and Doctors that have been raped, heck statistically you sit at a holiday table and eat with a relative who has been raped. Sorry, I tried to report a rape and I would never encourage anyone to try and do so. Our system is not kind to victims of sexual assault, nor does the system really care since 100's of thousands of rape kits in this country right now are sitting around untested.
DeleteSo please, tell me just how you are going to know if the person applying for assistance has been sexually assaulted? Are you going to require them to report? To be humiliated, to get called a liar by the police? What about the women raped by the police? Should they report it directly to their rapist?
No, this is just another law to hurt women and children.
Oh please, 7:50. You are really, really stretching on this.
DeleteAnd, I am a victim, by the way.
Good post. Let's not forget abusive men the woman is trying to hide from. Also, due to the difficulty states have made in getting a legal abortion, many women or girls will end up having forced births. Naming a father or a family member on a child's birth certificate is assinine. You can't hold the birth certificate hostage. The need for information on the father should be asked ONLY if the mother applies for state assistance. Other than that, it's no one's business other than the mother and her child.
Delete@ 8:16 am
DeleteI am "stretching nothing" and you know it. Rapists have also been given custody rights of their children by our court system so please now tell me who would name their rapist ( if known) to social services when it would just put their child in danger.
oh back in the oil days in Anchorage there was a group of Natives that if they even heard a PEEP about rape - race didn't matter they went 'hunting' as they called it! Folks were found in rivers in the inlet at the bottom of mountains...oops!
DeleteThat is a terrible bill. Not just in tragic cases but parents of both genders walk away every day. Bristol is lucky she will never be in that situation. Since you mentioned her. She's lucky she knows and respects respectful fathers. She also knows she's never once denied Dakota his child.
ReplyDeleteCan you please elaborate on the conditions Bristol demanded in order for Dakota to meet Sailor?
DeleteShe also knows that Dakota never wants to see her again... and she (possibly) knows who Sailor's father is. At least within a limited number of possibilities... six or seven, maybe? With Barstool, who knows?
DeleteStill believing that Sailor is not Dakota's kid... and he knew he couldn't be her father and that's why he broke off the engagement mere days before the wedding.
I'm glad Kentucky requires a DNA test. I'm betting that she's holding off on getting one and he's not going to fly to Alaska in order to collect one for private testing, because then Barstool would claim it means he "knows" he's the father.
Why is Dakota keeping quiet if he is the father?
DeleteBristol will most likely be on welfare in her future. As for not denying her baby daddy's from seeing their children, she certainly did with Levi and wants to set the rules for Dakota ( which isn't her right). So yes, Bristol is denying Dakota time with his child if he doesn't play her games.

You can stop lying now. You clearly tried to take away your son's father by only allowing him "visitation" and you're doing the same now with your daughter's father. Fathers should be allowed to have equal access to their children-- not just when you seem appropriate. After all, it is HIS child too. Pretty sure you didn't reproduce asexually ;). Please grow up for your children's sake. Oh and one more thing, being a medal of honor does NOT mean you shouldn't ask or receive child support. Women claim they need child support for the children, so men should be allowed to too. You're double standards and fake-ness are so obvious. #fathersrights #parental alienation #youreahypocrite

Hogwash !!! Revenge is Bristol's middle name.
She used Tripp to punish Levi because he moved on and she is using Sailor to punish Dakota because he dumped her.
If she respected the fathers, they would not have to resort to custody battles and court orders in order to see their children.
Unfortunately for Bristol, the fathers are adults and unwilling to play her juvenile games.
"Anonymous7:43 AM Why is Dakota keeping quiet if he is the father?"
Delete-----------------------
Possibly because he has a smart lawyer who told their client "I will represent you only if you follow my instructions to the letter. We will first determine conclusively whether or not you are the father. If you are not, we will request that the court enter a finding that this is so, and that you are not liable for the care and maintenance of the child. If you are the father, we will petition for a reasonable custody and visitation agreement. In the meantime, you will. not. say. a. word. publicly about this case. You will say nothing about the child's mother. You will say nothing about your relationship with the child's mother. You will not provide any information which can be used or distorted to put you in a bad light. You will obey these instructions and if you do not, I will remove myself from your case. I am a professional in contested child custody cases, I know what needs to be done to achieve your desired outcome, and I simply will not waste my time on a case made more difficult by a client's stupid behavior and big mouth."
Bingo, Nefer.
DeleteWhat truth Marina?
DeleteMarina will prove herself to be a bullshitter of the lowlife Anchorage open for business 24/7 type. She said that to try and intimidate someone like Dakota or another baby daddy prospect.
I betcha she wants them to think they are going to unleash the garbage they have on them if they don't obey the Republican Palin regime.
Here is my 2 Cents.
Delete1) Dakota is not the father. Think about this. If he thought he was he would not have waited 2 months to put in the immediate/expedited court order request.
Wouldn't you, if you thought that was your child, have asked for an expedited DNA testing with immediate visitation rights so that you could be with your infant child ASAP?
Included in the paperwork would be that FACT the mother has already excluded you from your child's birth and you should not be denied these precious first days of life with your child.
More 2 cents. I tend to get wordy when I'm irritated and this whole Bristol / Sarah thing really irritates me.
Delete2) Nothing says Marina is telling the truth. And nothing says Marina isn't talking about another man.
3) They totally were blind sided by Dakota seeking custody and going to court. TOTALLY.
Sarah and Bristol were expecting him to go quietly away and to be intimidated by them.
Maybe they can't read, we all read it. Dakota is Never Outgunned. Period.
6) Nefer is right. Dakota is used to and very good at following orders. He will do just what his attorney says.
Delete7) I concede that it's possible Dakota is the father, but I very much doubt it. She looked prego to me from very early on.
8) The whole engagement was a farce from Day One. Though I think Dakota was smitten and did love her. And was tickled pink with having Tripp as a buddy.
Bristol never much cared for him.
9) They both used each other and deserve what they get. But Sailor and Tripp are innocent victims.
That's it from me. Sorry if the numbering is off. Bad internet connection and it's stop, start, stop, start while I type.
The point is that would be impossible to keep BCs from children.

The bill is surely a non-starter: it flies in the face of the fundamental principle that support -- be it parental or state -- is a right of the child.
ReplyDeleteBut is there any doubt that the very public bad behavior of Bristol & her teen mom are fueling the kind of sentiment that led to this?
The fundamentalists only support the child before it is born. Fundamentalists and other Republicans do not want to support, in any way, a child once it has been born.

DeleteI kinda like the idea of getting to the truth. Think of the falsely accused. Think of a child's right to know who his parents are. Think of truth vs liars. DNA is powerful stuff. And we should begin with truth, facts and right to know. Do not compromise with a liar.
ReplyDeleteI like the idea of people, children, being able to know who their parents are. For medical reasons as well as psychological and mental health.
Delete@anon 7:47 am
DeleteDo you also like the idea that rapists have been given visitation rights in the USA? Even convicted rapists?
Those are two completely different issues, 8:25.
Delete@ anon 9:08 am
DeleteNo they aren't completely separate. If you demand women name their rapists then those rapists could ( and have) sought visitation and custody.
No, you're right. I guess I just meant I agree that children should be able to know who their bio parents are for medical reasons, etc, but I do agree that some women hide the identity of the fathers because of rape or incest and they shouldn't be forced to identify the in order to get the child a birth certificate. I definitely am against rapists getting visitation or custody.
DeleteI understand where people are coming from in saying that there is this or that good reason for such bills because it makes the male more accountable or this or that, but it still comes down to control and imposing on people's privacy and taking away the right to a formal declaration of birth that every citizen is entitled to.
ReplyDeleteFine if the state wants to deprive needy mothers and children of aid because of a blank on am f'king form, but it is INSANE,--and I can't believe people actually go along with the idea--that they can prevent a record of birth from being completed. If people want to prevent aid, fine, but it is not necessary to say no to a basic birth certificate (and social security number and card). That is beyond the pale.
And they're Republicans. So much for freedom and liberties that they preach. Take our country back to what...the 1800s?
DeleteBut, in the end, it doesn't make the "male" more responsible. It makes life harder for the single mother and the child. Of course, there's nothing in the bill to make abortions more available? There is no person so loathsome right now as a Republican legislator or governor - at any level of government.
DeleteBeaglemom
If those whitey good ole boys' little girls were raped by black men and impregnated, they'd be all for the morning after pill and, I'm betting, abortions. They'd handle things on the QT. But if something like this happened to someone else's young white daughters, no way would they say a single word in support of the victims.
