So Michael Cohl was working on a pay-per-view deal for the Rolling Stones Steel Wheels tour, which was the biggest rock and roll tour in history back in 1989.
During the negotiations Cohl had trouble finding somebody to partner with on the pay-per-view part of the deal, so he settled on Donald Trump.
The only problem was that the Rolling Stones hated Donald Trump and refused to have their name associated with him.
Cohl then got Trump to promise to stay in the background and not show up at any venues and made the deal.
Unfortunately Trump decides that he wants to attend the Atlantic City show, and starts to get a little pushy about it.
After Keith Richards essentially threatens to stab Trump is Cohl cannot get him out of the building this is the exchange that Cohl has with the Donald, courtesy of Pollstar:
I said, “Donald. You lied. You broke your promise. One of two things is going to happen. You’re going to leave the building and, at 6:40, The Rolling Stones are going to speak on CBS News, or you’re not going to leave the building and I’m going to go on and do an interview to explain to the world why the pay-per-view was canceled. I know it’s your building and…” – and in my head I’m going, this is so crazy, right? I’m trying to throw Donald Trump out of his own building.
But, anyway, the bottom line is I look at Donald and said, “You and Marla (Maples) have to go. You’re fired.” He looks at me and goes berserk.
“You don’t know anything! Your guys suck! I promote Mike Tyson! I promote heavyweight fights!” And I notice the three shtarkers he’s with, in trench coats, two of them are putting on gloves and the other one is putting on brass knuckles. I go on the walkie-talkie and I call for Jim Callahan, who was head of our security, and I go, “Jim, I think I’m in a bit of trouble.” And he says, “Just turn around.”
I turn around. He’s got 40 of the crew with tire irons and hockey sticks and screwdrivers.
“And now, are you gonna go, Donald?”
And off he went.
And that was the night I fired Donald Trump.
So to be clear here Trump reneged on his part of a sensitive deal and when confronted about it threatened to have his thugs physically abuse a man who called him on it.
This was almost thirty years ago, but I think this is likely the kind of response we can expect if Trump loses the nomination.
He will indeed encourage rioting in the streets, and will undoubtedly do everything in his power to sabotage the campaign of the GOP candidate who does get the nomination.
He is a thug, and if he does not get his way he will react like a thug.
....and now you know why the mega-billionaire class hates vulgar, gauche guy Trump. He wants a seat at their table...or else he'll turn the convention into a shitshow.
ReplyDeleteAside from this present madness--Trump is so done for in this country. 10 yrs tops--bankrupt. He doesn't get to blackmail the most powerful in the GOP establishment and walk away w/o serious consequences.
....and now maybe we know what really happened to Todd. It was a message from Trump to Sarah to back off, go away.
DeleteThe more we read about Trump, the more he seems to be a male Sarah. So, I am coming to think he may actually value her and -- horror of all horrors -- could put her in his cabinet. She is no worse than him and even opened the door for all the people who love him to speak their minds. I believe she is the reason he exists now in the way he exists, which is vile and evil. So, I doubt his wanting to get rid of her. Instead he may feel a very special kinship with her, and believe me they deserve each other as no two people ever have.
DeleteSo help me, I've been pondering if I'd give up my fledgling atheism and regress back to believing in an all-just God if, between now and the convention, Trump were diagnosed with an inoperable malignancy.
ReplyDeleteHe IS an inoperable malignancy!!
DeleteSpeaking of Canada, and Toronto, Ontario in particular: Rob Ford is a crazy, rich megalomaniac, who, as mayor continued to bully and misbehave while in office, including an infamous crack cocaine incident caught on video. His "Ford Nation" was very similar to current Trump supporters in that they supported his severe right wing stance and forgave all his indiscretions.
DeleteDuring his attempt to run for re-election as mayor, it was revealed that he had a very serious form of cancer, basically a death sentence. His brother ran in his place and lost. (Whew) Rob did manage to be elected to Toronto city council despite his cancer and his history.
Well, Ford is now in hospital, in his final days. I feel sorry for his young children, but I do not have one wisp of sympathy for his family and his supporters.
dvlaries: I agree with you totally.
There are too many stories of the Donald resorting to violence or threats if he doesn't get his way.
ReplyDeleteHe is a bully, a thug and will turn the office of the president into a dictatorship if elected. Democrats need to band together to prevent this.
AND if he does all those things, he will be in jail for inciting riots. If he keeps it up, somebody will give him a dirt nap. My guess is it will be Reince Priebus.
ReplyDeleteHe's not just an ordinary every day variety thug, he's a "punk-ass thug".
ReplyDeleteMaybe Drumpf's thugs are responsible for Todd's accident, in order to pull Sarah off the campaign trail. Would explain the mysterious bystanders. Don't kill him, just rough him up a bit. Get her outa here.
ReplyDeleteIsn't Trump the one who revealed docs from when Michelle O started the divorce process in the late 90s?
ReplyDeleteI hate asshats who treat politicians as if they're supposed to be superhuman and not go through everything the rest of us endure. That includes bad times in relationships. Notice that there are NO actual former or current politicians who've pretended they are above the rest in this respect.
Get lives Anonymous, and other assholes.
Alicia, is that you? Trying to slip in a negative about the Obamas?
DeleteNope, 9:09 AM Michelle never filed for divorce.....
DeleteTrump doing his usual bullshit when it came to the Obamas....all lies and nothing ever proven by him! He's a friggin' liar and fraud and it's being proven more and more each day.
Trump is going down just like Sarah Palin has already!
This is from 2014:

DeleteBWAHAHAHAHA!!! That is rich, coming from an ANONYMOUS herself/himself!
Is that you, Alicia?
10:07 -
DeleteBut it's true! The divorce papers are being held in a secret vault along with the REAL Kenyan birth certificate of Barack Obama, the map to Jimmy Hoffa's grave, Blackbeard's treasure chest, photographs of Jesus riding a dinosaur, Amelia Earhart and her plane, Dick Cheney's heart, and Mitt Romney's keys to the White House.
Don't you hate it when those darn facts get in the way of a good lie? The bright side for you is that Donald loves you. He even called you out special.
DeleteDonald Trump: "I love the poorly educated"
People have to be relentless in always using the word thug in association with Trump. Racist hate-mongers (like Trump) have used it with great success as a synonym for "any ordinary young black male minding his own business" and it is long past time to use the word as an identification of actual thugs.

ReplyDeleteI'm really surprised that none of the opposition research has stumbled upon this story in the 7 months that it's been available. The fact the Trump hasn't made the effort to refute it after all this time is interesting. You would think he would have sued Pollstar by now. Interesting!

ReplyDeleteThe Wall Street Journal editorial board declined Donald Trump’s demand for an apology after it cast doubt on his chances of winning the Republican presidential nomination, instead writing another editorial late Thursday calling him “a sure loser in November.”
“The truth hurts,” the editorial read, “though Mr. Trump would rather walk down Fifth Avenue shooting the messenger.”
Trump took to Twitter on Thursday to trash the “dummies” on the newspaper's editorial board. The GOP frontrunner took issue with their argument that Hillary Clinton has a million more primary votes than he does and would trounce him in a general election match-up.
“Actually his rise has been cleared by the large and fractured GOP field,” the WSJ editorial board fired back. “Of the 20.35 million GOP primary votes cast so far, he has received 7.54 million, or a mere 37%. Despite the media desire to call him unstoppable, Mr. Trump is the weakest Republican front-runner since Gerald Ford in 1976.”
The editorial board pointed out that though Trump may have diehard followers, his unfavorables are also remarkably high: “The Real Clear Politics polling average shows twice as many adults have negative views (61%) than positive views (32.5%) of Mr. Trump.”
As for Trump’s remark that the newspaper’s editorials don’t matter because “nobody cares” what the Wall Street Journal writes anymore, the board thanked him for being “such a loyal reader.”

Trump was using some Rolling Stones songs at his rallies. The Stones were not happy about it. And they aren't the only one.
ReplyDeleteAnd what will happen when he loses to Hillary or Bernie in November? Civil war?
ReplyDeleteHe's got an angry army of people now: wouldn't put it past him to put out "contracts" on any Democrat politician, for starters.
DeleteWhat about the contracts on The Donald? Wouldn't be one bit surprised that there are some already out there....perhaps we just need to wait and we'll never hear from him again.

"Trump’s ease in speaking like a gangster issuing veiled threats shouldn’t be the biggest surprise. While it’s gotten lost in the shuffle of the primaries, there’s a long history of allegations against Trump that he has ties to organized crime, hiring mob-controlled companies to build properties like his Trump Plaza condos. A great deal of his history of “deal-making” that he loves to brag about involves dealing with people who have literally been charged, investigated, and convicted of organized crime."
When will these ties be exposed, or is the media afraid of him? It's gonna take a co-ordinated effort, with threats to him and his family. Lawsuits: certainly the "1%" have the money to do this, or do they WANT him to be President...
Deletepost something else quick ! .. everytime I come to IM i see this guys ugly face topside .
ReplyDeleteNow you got Barstool on the front page :-(
DeleteMission accomplished there ya hoser!
I just listened to this NPR interview with a writer who examined Trump's biggest bankruptcy, who said the same thing: Trump make the deal for his biggest casino by promising "no junk bond financing (because junk bonds have higher interest rates)" and a few weeks after the deal was agreed to, he obtained junk bond financing, which raised his costs, which contributed to the eventual bankruptcy of that project.
ReplyDeletehttp://www.npr.org/2016/03/17/470806232/opening-the-books-on-donald-trumps-business-deals-in-atlantic-city

ReplyDeleteA new report confirms that five television networks cut a deal with Donald Trump that has effectively turned their coverage over to the Republican frontrunner and turned the networks into Trump propaganda arms.

Is this legal? What ever happened to the equal time rule I used to hear about? Shouldn't their FCC license be at risk? Is this what they will do if he gets the nomination?
DeleteMedia Matters has also been on the media over their Trump coverage and here is an interesting and alarming study of his phone calls to Sunday News programs and how he has controlled the media in this way.
http://www.mediamatters.org/blog/2016/03/18/study-trump-the-only-candidate-to-swamp-the-sun/209363
Something needs to be done about the total lack of true media coverage and FAST.
Disgusting and explains why they show all of Trump's speeches and cut off Hillary's mid-sentence.
DeleteNow he "owns" the media and his propaganda machine is in place, what is next?
Burn all the books?
I sure hope someone in the Clinton campaign is pulling out the history books and reading about the rise of Hitler as well as Trump's favorite book-Mein Kampf.
Hopefully he will lose the nomination, or at least lose the election with Clinton. Then he will find no one wants to deal with him. I predict this will be the end of "The Donald."

“One of the first things I did was join Le Club, which at the time was the hottest club in the city and perhaps the most exclusive — like Studio 54 at its height,” he wrote. “Its membership included some of the most successful men and the most beautiful women in the world.
“I saw things happening there that to this day, I have never seen again,” Trump told O’Brien. “I would watch supermodels getting screwed, well-known supermodels getting screwed on a bench in the middle of the room. There were seven of them and each one was getting screwed by a different guy. This was in the middle of the room.”

ReplyDeleteFox News Suggests That Donald Trump Is Mentally Ill And Obsessed With Megyn Kelly
ReplyDelete...Fox News put out a statement that called the frontrunner for the Republican presidential nomination sick, “Donald Trump’s vitriolic attacks against Megyn Kelly and his extreme, sick obsession with her is beneath the dignity of a presidential candidate who wants to occupy the highest office in the land. Megyn is an exemplary journalist and one of the leading anchors in America — we’re extremely proud of her phenomenal work and continue to fully support her throughout every day of Trump’s endless barrage of crude and sexist verbal assaults. As the mother of three young children, with a successful law career and the second highest rated show in cable news, it’s especially deplorable for her to be repeatedly abused just for doing her job.”
Things have gotten so insane that the top rated, and pro-Republican cable news network is suggesting that the frontrunner for the Republican presidential nomination is mentally ill....
http://www.politicususa.com/2016/03/18/fox-news-suggests-donald-trump-mentally-ill-obsessed-megyn-kelly.html
Listening to his supporters at the rallies had the hairs standing up on the back of my neck. I am not naive about hatred steeped in bigotry, racism or anti religions. It is the encouragement of and group support of violent hate crimes that is justified based in lies while projecting their "thug" mindset and intentions to do harm and banish people not like them gathered to support having a President who wants the same.
ReplyDeleteHe's the male equivalent of the quitter. He rules from facebook, instagram, and pre-negotiated media interviews. He uses incendiary, race baiting language, and acts like he's got this in the bag. He says "thugs", Sarah says "shuck and jive" and both use guns and moses to unite their base.
ReplyDeleteTrump's Achille's heel is is ego, and it'll kill him that the GOP and others are working hard to find a way to dump him, but they'll have to leave that to the Democrats, they haven't been able to work for over seven years because Obama, a Black man, is in the white house.
The problem is, there's an audience that's buying what he's selling, which he hasn't exposed much about except he knows words and consults with himself.
