Excellent question.

Source
It is probably an evil thing to consider, but does anybody else have a secret fantasy of Republican conventioneers engaging in a firefight over who should be the GOP nominee?

Or is that just my twisted imagination?

  1. I've been seeing posts on Facebook saying they WILL allow guns...so I imagined the media reporting on the aftermath as:

SHOOT OUT AT THE NO KAY CORRAL

I fantasize about that on a regular basis but I'm not very good about keeping it secret. I probably should work on that in light of the fact that I'm a lifelong Texan and one of maybe four people in the entire state who has no desire at all to get a CHL.

I can see it now. Trump isn't nominated and there IS a riot - with a whole lot of firearms around the place. The paramedics will be overwhelmed and the police would just have to seal the place and only allow exit after people are "patted down".

And then the entire "incident" will be blamed on Muslim fanatics engaging in Jihad.

Oh my stars, I would NEVER think of such a dreadful thing like that happening to those God fearing, family values paragons of Christianity. Wink, wink, cough, cough, uncrossing my fingers now.

Trump has already put the message out there, if he doesn't get the nomination there will be riots and his supporters would kill for him.

I image this would include the convention, at least they will be knocking off "other good guys" with guns.

They are so big on second amendment rights, why don't they allow guns in the convention, I mean what could possible go wrong? These are all sober, responsible gun owners with no angry problems.

They are going to destroy the the GOP one way or another , why not a shoot out and besides some of those Mooslim, ISIS guys might try and sneak in.

I say just arm the females. Let all the wives and mistressess have at each other! Fighting over the "waste of space" males that are SO family values oriented. They have voted to allow guns in schols, churches so why not where a group of holier than thou cretins are gathered? Raphael Ted Cruz looks as though he WAS shot in the face at some time.

Guns are for cowards: it's knives they should have to carry.

I see the blog article posted immediately after this describes the surge in carry permits for Texans.

This will not end well. Or, depending on you point of view, it may end VERY WELL!!

A Donald Trump riot + GUNS will give a whole new meaning to the term "DONALD DUCK"
I wonder if the republican candidates who spew out the call for 2nd amendment rights will be giving their speeches at the convention behind bullet proof glass. That would be total hypocrisy.

Ohio law prohibits possession of a firearm in an establishment that is licensed to serve alcohol on the premises. The First Merit Convention Center has a liquor license, so their petition is a waste of time.

I'm not into encouraging them to bring any more firearms than it would naturally occur to them to bring... I work about 3 blocks from Quicken Loans Arena and 2 from the convention center. We still aren't hearing *anything* on whether we'll be in a security zone or not, and if so, what restrictions we might face. That week is going to be bad enough as it is, let's not make it any worse.

Why are the 2nd amendment advocates so afraid of guns?
They banned guns at this year's CPAC convention because of their fear of guns, and now they are using the EXCUSE of the Quicken Loans Center's gun rules to mask their fear. They deliberately chose this venue to hide behind the fact that they are afraid of guns and needed a plausible excuse to ban the guns.
What happened to their mantra of "good guys with guns"?... Could it be that they are afraid of the upcoming Trump riot and how guns will play into that scenario?
SO MUCH FOR 2ND AMENDMENT RIGHTS.

7:14, you don't suppose that maybe, just MAYBE, these fools realize what we have been saying all along? That the problem with that little saying of theirs about good guys and guns is that you can't really tell who is a good guy?

So let me try to understand this: the people who want to be allowed to bring their guns into the arena are afraid of exactly what? They've heard there might be rioting (because of what Trump said) so if EVERYONE is allowed to bring in a gun, then EVERYONE is at risk of being shot. This reminds me of the folks who said that if guns had been allowed in that movie theatre, then the gun-toting assassin wouldn't have stood a chance and fewer people would have died.
These people are both incredibly stupid and overwhelmingly fearful.

      -------------
Exactly, this isn't open to the public so the only people attending are like minded Republicans.

So they are afraid of "themselves".

Or it could be ISIS bombers are planning on swimming across Lake Erie from Canada (there is no wall) and sneak in.

    2. Maple6:56 AM

Yeah -- would that be "homegrown" Canadian ISIS bombers or maybe a couple of Syrian refugee ISIS bombers??!!!
At any rate, I wish people would remember FDR's famous saying "There is nothing to fear but fear itself". IMHO, the GOP is turning its members into quivering wusses, with significant help from the NRA. Keep the people scared enough and they'll be ripe for attack.

Since they can only act when it happens to THEM, then maybe that would be the BEST way to actually get some common sense controls on guns in this country - a few, or more than a few, of the holy rollers get called home.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Anonymous9:20 AM

Well, since they don't allow you to bring your own guns there, because the arena itself is allowed to serve alcohol, maybe they should simply set up a booth for the NRA inside the convention center, where the NRA either sells or loans everybody a gun that is inside. Like that, no 'outside' guns, and thus no bad guys. Right?

Even though it's perfectly legal to open carry without a permit on the streets of Cleveland or any Ohio city or town you'd think these folks would be a little worried to do it there after what happened to Tamir Rice. Oh...

And the elephants are trumpling across the American countryside. Don John Duck driving the clown car and cruzing for a bruzin to the open cary con-vention. The silent but deadly, rump party, vote for the Donald duck and his beautiful, naked, 3rd but 1st lady of foreign origin. Does someone, anyone, vet first ladies? and 3rd ladies too? and friends? And is this done before the election? and before entry into the USA People's House?

Well, since they now want to arm little children, I don't see why the GOP should be fearful of their own base; after all they're adults and have better control than little kids. Hahaha! I was reading today about Wisconsin's governor Scott Walker with GOP chair Reine Prebis making subliminal statements as if he will be a contender for the nomination. Also, there's 'reluctant' Paul Ryan who says he doesn't want the nomination, but that's a ruse because they speak of him as the GOP savior, and he 'reluctantly' likes that idea. He thinks that highly of himself. Well, they all think highly of themselves. In fact, they're just full of it! So, it'll be wild in Cleveland as the big, bad, dark money takes over the convention. Imagine the betrayal the teabaggers will feel, or whoever are the voters for Trump or Cruz. IDK, maybe a Bundy style takeover would bring convention fun. It'll be hoooge!

Because guns will not be allowed inside the arena, but they are allowed outside the arena, during the convention anyone protesting outside the arena - or anyone happening to pass by - is in extreme danger, IMHO.
