Ken Ham has no idea what Atheists think.

For the zillionth time Atheism is NOT a religion.

We have no rituals, no holy books, and really no consensus on anything except for the fact that there is not enough evidence to convince us to accept the existence of any the gods worshiped by our fellow humans.

As for shaking our fist at God, we do that exactly as often as we chase Leprechauns, shoo unicorns off of our lawns, and get into fistfights with Bigfoot.

How can an Atheist shake their fists at an entity they don't believe exists, sort of a corrupt circular "reasoning".

Yea, well, it's Ken frickin' Ham. Doesn't he have his own "Creationism Museum"?
As a fellow atheist, I don't care about the opinion of "woo-woos" like Ken.
He has not the ability to understand reality.

We have a Unitarian leader here in town who writes extremely logical columns for our RW rag. You ought to read the hate toward him from the so-called Christians in town. They are evidently terrified that, like white male America, cowed Christians are disappearing. And wy are they so angry all the time? Why do they have to denigrate others? Ken Ham is making no new followers with his hate and close-mindedness. Neither is Cruz or Palin or any of them. Maybe this election will not only mark the end of Republicanism (whatever that has grown into lately) but fundamental Christians who think it's their God and their beliefs or nothing.

I find interesting that so-called Christians are really all about the old testament and totally ignore the teachings of their Christ.

It would seem that to say you are an atheist is that you have arrived at a thought process where you just don't buy it anymore, or you never bought it. It's not some huge organized group of people out to ruin Christianity.

8:42 You fundies do the preachin. That's also known as a lecture, not a conversation.
This atheist doesn't preach. I live my life by the golden rule. if someone asks me about my lack of belief, then we have what us atheists call a "conversation" where 2 or more people get to talk to each other and share ideas to mull over.
I resent like all hell the conversion tactics used by you fundies, so i have never in my life tried to convert one of you fundies to non-belief. I DON'T HAVE TO, the lack of proof of your skygod does the work for us. Oh, and that horrible text full of rape violence and animal abuse you call a bible. it's a classic!

I'm sorry -- I don't know who Ken Ham is.
Plus, why does he feel it necessary to tweet out his opinions -- positive or negative -- about atheists? Has one of them done something recently that offended him, or is it just to keep up the bs about atheists in general, for the fun of it?

Atheists have group meetings, collect money, and preach there is no God. Sounds like a religion to me.

By your logic, every town, city and county council, not to mention every state and federal congress, is a religion because they have meetings and collect money and preach, too.

They preach all sorts of garbage like women should not have any control over their own bodies, but hey, just because large numbers of people don't like it doesn't mean it ain't preaching!

@ Anonymous 9:41AM, I've been an atheist for fifty years...........where are the group meetings? I'm afraid that I'v missed them all!

But I kind of take it as a compliment that Ken Hamm (and apparently others) have decided that we unbelievers are some kind of organized group. I think that means that there are enough of us now to actually be lumped together and look like we make a difference in elections and such. My hope is that we'll eventually get to the 15% mark for actual declared atheists...........not a majority by any means, but if you throw in the mistrust and fighting amongst the various religions, it seems pretty respectable. Also, if you look at the Global Index of Religiosity & Atheism, you will notice that the most peaceful countries in the world tend to have "non--religious" populations in the 40% range. The US is currently at around 30%. If you look at the least peaceful countries in the world, the numbers of people who consider themselves to be religious go way up. Africa comes in at 89%, and the Arab World at 77%. Afghanistan is at 83% and Iraq at 88%. I can only conclude that the less religious America becomes, the less likely we will be to enter into wars, etc. And thats a good thing!

Something's not kosher with Ken Hamm, can't quite put my finger on it, and wouldn't want to anyway. I don't shake my fist at anything I don't believe in, what part of "I don't believe in a god" doesn't he get? Show me one Atheist Seminary, one Atheist Church, or one Atheist creationists museum.
But, if he believes there's Atheist Religions, who am I to stop him from exposing his own ignorance? Looks like Nancy read it, and posted about it as Bristol on her MPD blog. Dad's in the hospital with broken bones on a respirator, and she's busy working full time, breast feeding and writing blog posts about things she knows nothing about.

Anita, I think it's a form of projection. These fundies are some of the angriest most frightened people of all.
Ken's just revealing a "tell". He knows there is no skygod. He'd lose his lifestyle if he lost his public religiosity. And he can't understand the freedom you gain from removing the tumour of religion from your brain.
I was forced to fundie with the fam, and left that swamp. Took years to rid, but i have an understanding of the other side.

  24. One definition of preaching is to advocate earnestly. Gryphen does that, and he's not alone.

Go to HuffPo's religion page and on every post you find numerous comments by atheists sermonizing about the evils of religion And patting themselves on the back for their self-described superior critical thinking.

A few weeks ago, Gryphen misrepresented a quote from the parable of the minas (gold coins) in Luke 19, attributing to Jesus a command made by a nobleman to slay all who wouldn't follow him. So here is an atheist actully trying to use scripture to make a point.

A commenter at 3:50 pm issued a challenge to be shown an atheist church. There's an atheist church in Seattle with a few hundred members. A google search on atheist churches will yield many hits. There are atheists churches worldwide. The First Church of Atheism has a list of over 5,000 ordained members. Ordination is free and there are no educational requirements. Their Facebook page describes the group as a religious organization.

My point is this. No group--atheist, Christian, pagan, Muslim, Jewish, etc.--has a corner on critical thinking or moral superiority, so all should stop finger-pointing and pretending that their beliefs are self-ratifying and impervious to criticism.

      Hey Jude. Haha
There you go, stereotyping. I don't go to any damn church.
And Shug, anyone can use your bible. For any reason. To prove a point or steady a wonky table. Makes you mads, huh.
Another definition of preaching is "...to lecture constantly...". I don't do that either.
Sorry I don't fit your comfy little pigeon hole for atheists.
