Wasilla lawmaker suggests that if senior citizens don't like her budget cuts because then they can't afford to live in Alaska they should get the hell out.

Courtesy of KTVA:

Rep. Lynn Gattis says seniors who can’t afford to live in Alaska, should consider moving out of state. AARP, a senior citizens advocacy group, warns reductions in the state budget proposed last week by the House Finance Committee, which includes Gattis, may force many to leave.

“I had that in my mind that I wanted to grow old and die here in Alaska,” said Ken Helander, associate state director for AARP. “I don’t know if I’m going to be able to. It frightens me to think of that.”

Alaska has the fastest growing senior population in the nation, and AARP said House members are targeting seniors with their scissors. According to calculations by the group, the Alaska House of Representatives is proposing more than $23 million in cuts to programs that will affect Alaska seniors.

Gattis said she thinks seniors might be better off elsewhere anyway.

“Alaska is a tough state for older folks to live in: slipping, falling, icy so on and so forth,” Gattis said. “So if you’re not working, on a fixed income, sometimes there are other places that are less expensive to live.”

You know what, all of us are getting older.

However many of the elderly living in Alaska are some of the toughest old coots you ever want to meet.

Some of these folks have been living here since before it was a state, when driving on a paved road was a rare occurrence, and EVERYBODY dug their own wells and cesspools, and raised much of their own food.

So if they want to live the rest of their lives in one of the most beautiful places on this planet, well by gosh they should have that right and nobody should suggest otherwise.

And perhaps somebody should tell this Lynn Gattis lady that another group who has trouble navigating on icy sidewalks are fat people, so perhaps she should hoist her lard ass onto a plane and fly the fuck out of our state before some elderly lady gives her a good old fashion Alaska beat down.

Or if that seems too extreme perhaps she could simply shift her attention to being a good parent for a change.

    3. This is typical of Republicans. Their idea of balancing a budget is to get rid of any demographic that costs money.

If they could send all of the old and sick to another country they'd be fine with that. If they could outsource all of our children to be educated in other countries they'd do that too.

Anything they can't, they privatize so they and their buddies can make a profit on taxpayer money.

It's just part of being a Right Wing conservative fundamentalist Republican (insert appropriate B word depending on gender.)

(And where are all the posts I made on the Bristol thread? I thought you didn't CENSOR anyone?)

Well if the Alaskan senior citizens were just lucky enough to sell an easement or two to the local government like the Gattis family did they'd have all the money they need. CREW has all the details.

I'd like to make a few comments about CREW. This is a Political Hack group out to discredit and destroy any conservative Republican that has or may have Washington DC office desires. They hound our Congressman Don Young constantly and for years have tried to destroy his reputation.. As most in Wasilla recall during the McCain/Palin election race, the Liberal media desended upon our small town and spent days and months trying to dig up dirt or coruption on Sarah. When they didn't find any, they just made up some. They were blindsided by Sarah. CREW wants to get ahead start now on any conservative Republican with strong support (Lynn got 73 % vote in the last election). They want to cut her off at the knees before the race starts, just in case. I for one am outraged by these outside groups. I hope other Alaskans are as well."

"A day after telling Alaskan seniors to take their money grubbing ways to warmer, less slippery climes Rep. Lynn Gattis (R – you guessed it, Wasilla) doubled down by telling Alaska’s children to “get tough or get lost.” On Leap Day Gattis told Alaska’s fixed-income seniors to go jump in a lake – someplace else. While some said Gattis may have gone too far the Wasilla legislator said overnight she realized she probably hadn’t gone far enough.

“I mean it’s true that we can’t keep subsidizing these geezers who really aren’t contributing much anymore, but most of them aren’t going to be around much longer anyhow, so shipping them off to California or Oregon or someplace is a short-term fix,” Gattis said. “The real drag on the economy is the kids, and they’re going to be around a long time. Seems like there’s more of them every day.”

Gattis said she’s contemplating a work-for-school program or simply sending the “weaker” kids to more liberal states where she says they’ll likely be happier anyway."

Gattis is nuts. She is living in a fantasy if she thinks the cliques with her children and the Palins had structure or education.

Alaska’s children to “get tough or get lost.”

Unless you are a child of the affluenza district 9 crowd. At least the authorities held her drug dealer son accountable for leaving his friend to die. Anything short of death and they have their crimes covered up.

Authorities keep giving the Palins a pass so they won't have a record on the numerous things they do.

Todd and Sarah do not agree with sending “weaker” kids away. Sarah and Todd have their “weaker” kids cling unnaturally to the parents and stunt their possibilities to be independent human beings.

Todd and Sarah believe in the cover up and pamper while talking about bucks and trucks.

The whole Valley has a unscrupulous, unethical, immoral, Machiavellian malaise and is a fatally shameless community.

When the funding for KABATA is cut and Lynn Gattis goes public saying KABATA isn't dead and decides to parade the last remaining employee around, to prove it. It was pathetic.

Oh and the railroad extension and the paid for Gattis right of way across their pt Mac land, what a sweet deal that was. No wonder Gattis claims so much pride in supporting the latest Pt Mac boondoggle.

Oh and was it Mr. Gattis who, with another tool, decided to enter the 4th of July Wassilla parade with a mummy the was tarred and feathered and a note around its neck the said "Liberal Democrat "? Back in 2008.
Lynn Gattis should know, a Wasilla based bible camp doing photography, got lots of photos that day.

Did I mention Lynn is a Palin supporter? She thinks Palin has taken enough of a beating and to leave the poor woman alone. Lol...

She is also been known to say things like "there is a God given reason for white privlage".

Let me take a wild stab in the dark here. I bet Rep. Lynn Gattisld is a Republican. I’ll guess again that she’s also a good Right-wing type Christian™. I'll also bet that Lynnie doesn't know that at least 2/3s of the rest of the states know what snow and ice is. We have it too in the winter - not just Alaskans. And Alaska isn't the only cold state in the winter. And, FYI Lynn, Mississippi has the most obese population in the country - a place you might consider.

The point here is, Sunshine, that the elderly CAN afford it. What they can't afford are her budget cuts to the services they earned. What the F--- is wrong with the GOP? People work all their lives, pay taxes to make their communities attractive to young people and business, and they want to spend their pensions where they lived their adult lives. They voted for senior services. They deserve respect, not the heave-ho because some women with too much time and no brains decides that the budget is too big. No, dear, the revenue is too small...how about you quit subsidizing huge corporations and the uber-wealthy and make them pay some taxes? Problem solved. As Peter Eastman put it so well in a book my grandson loves: "Why make big problems out of little problems?" The book is called "Fred and Ted Go Camping."

My parents built a home and a homestead before statehood. They farmed potatoes and carrots to sell and supplement our diet. They contributed to their community. Oh yes, and both were decorated WWII veterans. They stayed after raising us and mentored young families in the community, some of whom had no older family members to rely on. They paid INCOME TAX through all those years. Oh yeah, and by the time they were in their 80s, they had mastered walking on ice. To help an older population stay in a community has well-documented benefits. This Wasilla woman is, like Palin, barking mad.

"I'd let em die!" one didn't say

Trump repeated, "no one's going to die in the street under a Trump Presidency" while Cruz and Rubio didn't scream "I'd KILL em"
    "I'd waterboard em to death!"
"I would personally beat every last one of them to death"

These idiot Wasilla legislators should be tarred and feathered for their waste of the states resources. And how about Sarah Palin's $500,000,000 gift to Trans Canada to build a pipeline that never happened (the one that she claimed was already built in her nomination speech). Really, they should publish how much these idiots have cost us, and then compare that to what the individual hard working Alaskans cost. "I haven't lost a son. My son is sitting there," she told Scott's parents. "At the same time, we have a community that is broken. Debbie, you and I, we've lost so much."
Rep. Gattis also asked for help combating drug use in the community from the dozen young people assembled in the courtroom to support the Scott family."

What is Gattis record on combating drug since 2013?

I would like to know how Sarah Palin knows what drugs her son uses. You can smell alcohol. Many of the new designer drugs are harder to detect. Track is in his mid twenties. He is in horrible shape with his chemical abuse for an alcoholic his age.

How does he support himself? He was looking at property he was going to purchase the night of his domestic violence. I take it he would have been planning to build a house.

If Gattis thinks old folk are too feeble and poor to live in Alaska. What is her and people like her thinking about young and unemployed with chronic addiction?

Gattis knows a lot about the drug scene, young people and drug dealers. Does she want someone like Track and Jordan Loewe to leave. Alcoholics have accidents and can slip on the ice.

Sherry Whitstine, the infamous Wasilla gal that sent Ivy Fry into a tizzy "Stop blogging, stop blogging right now!" is showing her Wasillabilly on this, defending Gattis and saying she agrees we can't subsidize dangerous Alaska living on these Sourdoughs. SMH

Hey, Lynn, you're not getting any younger. Be careful what you wish for because it may backfire. Someone once said (paraphrasing) You judge a society by how it treats the frail, weak and ill among them"
Who are YOU, the poster child for aging gracefully, to round up the elderly in Alaska and make them move elsewhere? They lived their lives, paid their taxes, raised families, etc. and have every right to live and die where they wish. Who paid taxes before you so your kids could get educated, roads fixed, etc. etc?? Who pays your salary with their taxes? You're a disgrace to the human race, the lowest of the low. And that's saying a lot considering you're in Palin country.

She has put out a post to "set the record straight", which actually doesn't, at all.

Well the one you like to make fun of works with seniors and sees first hand these 'comments' and 'cutbacks' that occur! Word is that if the trust account is restored/returned then seniors would be taken care of better than they are right now!
Wow that is crazy hu? Cyber fart! Hi Gryphen! :0)

Fat, hypocritical, nasty, ignorant, so called "Christian" hater spewing the same kind of viciously stupid venom that the Village Idiot Palin would say.

When you are so fat that your face is rimmed with a two inch thick roll, YOU BETTER WATCH OUT, YOU MIGHT FALL ON THE ICE TOO!
