Going to take another shot at revealing something about Bernie Sanders which really should be quite obvious.

Courtesy of Bloomberg Politics:

In surveys released last week by Fox News and CBS News, Clinton leads Republican front-runner Donald Trump by 7 and 10 points, respectively; she's statistically tied with Ted Cruz; and she trails John Kasich by 9 and 6 points. The same surveys show Sanders leading Trump by larger margins of 14 and 17 points; leading Cruz by 12 points in both surveys; and besting Kasich by 4 and 5 points, respectively.

And yet, prominent Republican operatives are chomping at the bit to face Sanders, a U.S. senator from Vermont and self-described democratic socialist in the general election, believing he'd be an easier opponent than the former first lady, U.S. senator and secretary of state.

"Republicans are being nice to Bernie Sanders because we like the thought of running against a socialist. But if he were to win the nomination the knives would come out for Bernie pretty quick," said Ryan Williams, a former spokesman for 2012 GOP nominee Mitt Romney's campaign. "There's no mystery what the attack on him would be. Bernie Sanders is literally a card carrying socialist who honeymooned in the Soviet Union. There'd be hundreds of millions of dollars in Republican ads showing hammers and sickles and Soviet Union flags in front of Bernie Sanders."

"Hillary Clinton is a much more centrist candidate in comparison," Williams said, and she would have a better chance of winning over moderate and undecided voters, despite numerous polls showing that many Americans, even in the Democratic Party, don't view her as honest and trustworthy. "Bernie's numbers are better than hers right now because she's been in the political arena for 30 years getting beat up," he said.

Doug Heye, a former spokesman for the Republican National Committee, said Clinton would be a tougher opponent due to her foreign policy fluency, "her toughness as a candidate," and the "Clinton attack machine" around her—groups like Correct The Record and Americans United For Change that are active on her behalf. He added that there's less room for the GOP to define Clinton than Sanders as "out of the mainstream."

"Her negatives are set in. There's no American out there who doesn't have a definite opinion on Hillary Clinton," Heye said. "That's just not the case with Bernie. The fact that some of his success has been looked on with bemusement, I think, speaks to that."

I have made this case before, and I imagine I may have to make it again.

The polls right now are not only inaccurate, I believe they are being purposefully skewed to give a false narrative.

Sanders' numbers are going up because he has not yet suffered the kind of withering attacks from the Right that damage a candidate so completely that even members of their own families second guess voting for them.

On the other hand Hillary has been taking that incoming fire for over thirty years now.

The very fact that she remains a viable presidential candidate tells you almost all you need to know about her electability.

But if that were not enough then the fact that the eighth investigation into Benghazi, going on now for over 700 days and at a cost of over 6 million dollars, continues to this day, should tell you that the Republicans fear Hillary Clinton more than Donald Trump fears somebody seeing the real size of his penis.

And do we even need to mention the "investigation" into her private e-mail server?

If the Republicans REALLY thought that they could beat Hillary in a fair contest, NONE of this would have been necessary. And that is also why Bernie Sanders is enjoying unsolicited help from members of the Republican party.

None of this should have to be explained, and yet I find myself explaining it constantly.

I believe that also! And the George Clooney MTP was very good at explaining WHERE all the money is going in Hillary's fundraisers. Everyone forgets or doesn't mention the BILLIONS the Kocks are putting into ALL elections and especially the down ticket, their anti-climate change money to screech etc. I don't hear Bernie mentioning that. Now I have heard from Bernie people when told this they say, "why should Bernie fund raise for others" Its so republican sounding and its the under 45 people saying this.
I am so sick of hearing Bernie. I watched the end of the debate and Hillary continued to try to bring everyone together and Bernie sounded and looked like a Old Angry White guy.
I think he has lost control of his campaign to RW'rs and his followers are too arrogant or inexperienced to realize this.

  5. Once again the Republicans have no clue what the difference is between a communist and a socialist, both labels they have also assigned to President Obama.

What I find most interesting is they never use the term Fascist. I'm sure some of it is because, like the other two terms, they don't understand what a fascist is, but I think more so that they do know and don't want the public to see how fascist the Republican party has become or how fascist their front runner, Dullard Drumpf, is. The Nazis were Fascists and Dullard Drumpf exhibits more than one characteristic of the fascists of the third reich.

Dullard doesn't want to be president. He wants to be Chancellor of Amerika.

So instead of trying to explain to your readers exactly what Hillary stands for (since nobody seems to fucking know all we hear is how fucking electable she is) you just put another Bernie bashing article. Why don't you ever post anything about what Billary stands for? All we EVER hear is blah blah blah "electable" blah blah blah. She might be for this she might be for that, she isn't definite on anything. At least with Bernie people have a clue what he stands for, with Billary not so much and actually not at all.

I'm assuming the reason you don't take this approach is because YOU don't have a clue what she stands for either, you just have some sort of unhealthy crush on her which you wish the rest of us would have. It doesn't work that way. Give us a REASON to like Hillary? Could ya do that just once????

I remember when Hillary Clinton was First Lady and she led the fight for universal health care. She was a champion for getting healthcare services to children. She went to China and gave a speech on human rights. She was attacked for being improper and getting involved in policy when she should have been baking cookies and attending to White House dinner guest lists. I've watched her years of fighting for women's equality here and around the globe. I've seen her as the Senator of New York, a 2008 candidate for the Democratic Party presidential nomination, and as Secretary of State.

But I must be clueless if I'm supporting her. How could I possibly know anything about what she stands for.

Bernie Sanders is repeatedly arguing that the polls say he's electable. Gryphen addressed the claim in this blog post. But it's not the topic you want addressed.

By the way, Gryphen is in good company. The leading political scientists have all pointed out that general election polls for Sanders are meaningless. Sanders and his campaign team know this is true but ignore the logic to misinform voters that the polls prove he would beat the GOP.

Here's one example. You can save time by starting the video at 2:24

My problem with the Bernie Brats is that they do not understand history, even that of the last half of the Twentieth Century. If they did, they would be much more concerned about the erosion of a woman's right to choose that is underway in many states. What is needed is a full Democratic victory in order to protect Roe v. Wade. Anyone, like myself, who lived through the times before that SCOTUS decision can relate at least one horror story of a botched abortion or woman forced into a bad marriage or an adoption because of an unwanted pregnancy. Sorry, the millennials have no idea how close we are to going back to those repressive times not that long ago. I do not want to see us go back there and, if the GOP continues to hold power in Congress and in the States, we will go there. A strong, Democrat heading the ticket will also help the down ticket candidates get elected. Bernie cannot do that. He is not a loyal Democrat; he holds a different philosophy and he has captured the imagination of some young people looking for a cause. While he rails about Wall Street, the GOP is returning the country back to the days of racism, sexism, and homophobia.

While I respect Bernie Sanders’ policies and general ideology, I am personally exhausted by his demeanor, his wagging finger, and his ridiculous claims.

Nobody likes to see our heroes disappoint us, yet since he has been on the offense (for several months now), it has become even more apparent to me that Hillary is the better choice for the Presidency. He doesn’t listen well, he shouts, he is stubborn, arrogant and self-righteous, and thus his campaign behaves.

While Hillary has had to learn how to keep her sarcasm at bay for years, in the last debate Sanders displayed his in full regalia to the delight of his followers and the press. Call it what you will, but I call this good old plain misogyny; it is still so threatening to people, not just to men, to have a woman be the smartest person in the room.

In my opinion she is better prepared, more deserving of the Presidency and yes, her heart is in the right place. All of this “untrustworthy” nonsense has been generated by Republicans for decades in an effort to suppress one of the most progressive, compassionate and resilient politicians of our time, and it is a shame to see the Sanders campaign and its followers falling for it.

Hillary Clinton has two decades of direct experience dealing with the type of character assassination and dirty politics practiced by the GOP/Fox News Party, and has the temperament and political skill to fend off such attacks gracefully. Bernie Sanders is, perhaps, revealing himself to be a little thin-skinned in this regard, reacting to modest political push back by calling foul and clumsily trying to one-up his opponent, rather than sticking to the issues. He's not quite the Donald Trump of the left, but it still is not the direction we should be heading.

He's gotten to be obnoxious! Rest assured I have paid attention to him and listened to him! Enjoyed him in the beginning of his run and liked him - but, no more!

  27. Again, thank you for posting this. It needs to be said, over and over again. Unfortunately.

I believe Senator Sanders has important things to say, and in the beginning, I was glad he was saying them. But it seems, almost, that his head has gotten too big for this race. I don't think it's rocket science to understand that the Republicans would have a field day with a Socialist-in-Democrat's-clothing.
I would think, that at this point, it would be wiser of Bernie to wise up and realize that sometimes sacrifice for the greater good is more important than fame and glory for oneself.
I realize I may be opening myself up to getting attacked as I'm not a "BernieBro," but I'm feeling more and more that I need to speak up regarding my support for Hillary.
Also, too, (sorry, can't help myself) in response to some comment up above stating that Hillary would simply be a 3rd term of Bill Clinton, I would say that is so disingenuous and naive. And a pathetic, paltry excuse not to vote for Hillary. She is her own woman. Has been for a VERY long time. I would venture to say that Hillary is the one who wears the pants in that relationship. He owes her BIG TIME. Big time.

OT, but this clip is funny. Trump couldn't be bothered to go to Ground Zero until about a week ago, and it's hard for him to even keep the date of the attacks straight. He was probably craving some junk food mid-rally.

Sarah thinks she was so incredibly busy with important work. Being a mayor is important, but just as she sees herself as being as much of a scientist as Bill Nye, she sees herself as being just like the US Secretary of State, and even beyond.

The company that designed hilllarys website designed the one slandering a woman who outwardly accuses bill of huge amounts of sexual misconduct and Hillary of viscious bullying and sabotage. She is in the race because there is not a bigger bully. Bernie is in because the liberal state ls haven't voted yet and he took quite a bit from moderate ones. And he's a nice guy with a slight anger problem. Though don't all politicos have an anger problem? Obama even does.

Sorry, but I think Bernie Sanders would be a horrid POTUS! He's nasty, demeans women, points his fingers too much and is angry!

But, love the fact he was once a hippie and probably smoked lots of dope (his wife too!). He needs to be smoking it again to calm him down!

I've never heard a candidate talk down to a woman like Bernie Sanders. I can't see how any woman can vote for a dude that wags his finger and smears her without evidence. Maybe his women supporters are used to being talked down to and diminished. He even shoved his own wife out of the way.
I think the man is despicable.

I love both Bernie and Hillary, but the person I love most is Al Gore. I remember the first time I heard him speak (and stand up for Choice so unequivocally) when he came to my college back in 1988. I had never heard of him before that day. After, I followed closely and was so happy to vote for him in the primary. Four years later when Clinton tapped him as his running mate, I was thrilled. He's doing important work out of the limelight and I will always stand in great admiration of this person.

Young voters are America's future. They have made their choice clear. They lean left. Things that make sense. Fairness and Equal. Balance. Progress. Hope. Bright future. less war. Everyone over 40 should listen to the words of younger voters. Lean forward and look forward to the future. It is full of Life, Hope and Change.

I'm over 40 and I do listen to their words. Are you really saying that people voting for Clinton don't value all of those things? This has nothing to do with our end goals and everything to do with our plans to get there.

Maybe people under 40 should listen to the wisdom of their elders. Those of us who have been fighting for civil and reproductive rights for years and years aren't part of the "status quo" or the "establishment" because we prefer Clinton to Sanders. We don't differ in our end goal, just the methods to get there.

The right is transparent. We can see right through that shallow narrow window. The face of the party, the attitude, the agenda, the tactics, the spin, their twisted pocket constitution. The oath they signed to obstruct America. Did we forget?

  37. That Clinton has survived thirty years of attacks didn't mean anything in the last primary she lost. I'm not a big fan, but I'll vote for her if she becomes the nominee. I like Sanders because he's arguing for a new way of doing business. The free stuff label is bullshit. No one, not even he, believes healthcare and college will be free. He's talking about priorities. Do we need the most bloated, outrageously large military in the world, or can we have a meaner, leaner, and more efficient military? If you truly believe in the promise of America, then you should believe same old same old is not a given. With Clinton, I keep being asked to settle, to be practical. The rich and powerful love that message. Clinton is is smart, damn smart, but she isn't inspiring like Elizabeth Warren or Sanders. Plenty of comments have mentioned Sanders wagging his finger as an indicator of attitude and a reason not to vote for him. I don't like Clinton's pants suits. Her wardrobe could be an indicator of attitude, but I don't care, and it certainly won't be a voting issue for me. After decades of business as usual, I am ready for a new paradigm.

    Salon:
There are no moral victories for Bernie Sanders at this point: Why he needs to win massively in New York

... At a rally over the weekend in New York’s Prospect Park, for instance, Sanders drew more than 28,000 people, easily the largest of his campaign. Judging by the tone of his speech, Sanders knows how important tomorrow’s primary is. The last Democratic debate was the testiest by any measure, a sign of growing tensions on both sides, but the Vermont senator was noticeably harsh yesterday.

“Now, if you give a speech for $225,000 per speech,” Sanders told the crowd, “it must be a pretty damn good speech, must be a brilliant and insightful speech analyzing all of the world’s problems, must be a speech written in Shakespearean prose. And that is why I believe Secretary Clinton should share that speech with all of us.”

It’s hard to miss the sarcasm there, but the content is consistent with everything Sanders has said thus far. If there’s a difference, it’s tonal and stylistic. The Sanders campaign understands that time is running out, so they’ve decided to double down on their core message, hoping to ride the wave of momentum they’ve created in the last several weeks.

But let’s be clear: there are no “moral victories” for Sanders at this point. Limiting Clinton’s margin of victory to single digits in New York won’t alter the dynamics of the race. Her lead – in both pledged delegates and superdeleages – is too great. Even a close victory won’t suffice for Sanders. Given Clinton’s institutional support, winning narrowly will yield few, if any, delegates.
Sanders has to win in New York, in other words, and he has to win big. But that will be difficult. Sanders is quite good at attracting people to rallies, but he has to get them to the voting booth as well – otherwise none of it matters. The big question for Sanders is, will the young people and white liberals chanting at his rallies show up when he needs them to? ...

Bernie is looking and sounding like a lunatic! He's doing everything and anything he can to discredit and/or disgrace Hillary Clinton and it's getting old.

Hillary Clinton has my vote!! She is experienced, smart, remains calm and knows how to get things done!
