Hillary Clinton laughs off Right Wing fantasy that she will be jailed over e-mail "scandal."

Here is how Hillary Clinton responded to a question about a possible indictment over her e-mail server courtesy of People:

"Oh my goodness! Matt, I know that they live in that world of fantasy and hope because they've got a mess on their hands on the Republican side," Clinton replied.

"That is not going to happen," she added of the possibility that she might ultimately be forced to take what Lauer called "some kind of political perp walk."

"There is not even the remotest chance that it's going to happen." Clinton dismissed the FBI investigation into her use of a private email server as a "security review" that had become politicized because of her involvement.

This is actually believed, not only by the Right Wing, but even by some of those supporting Bernie Sanders.

We have even had a few of them here on IM.

Even my own daughter has parroted Right Wing talking points about Hillary's trustworthiness and possible criminal activity.

You know the Rude Pundit addressed this very thing quite eloquently yesterday:

"The only reason you think Clinton is shady is because 25 years of conservative media shoved it down your throat. She's been accused and accused and investigated and investigated and guess what? Not a goddamn thing has ever come of it. It's all shit made up to damage her. If you keep saying over and over that someone did something wrong, did something wrong, did something wrong, but you never prove it, then you're just an asshole."

Exactly!

The conservatives created a cottage industry of making scurrilous, inflammatory claims about  Hillary Clinton, starting from her days as First Lady and extending through her stint as a New York Senator, then potential presidential nominee for the Democratic party in 2008, to her time as Secretary of State, and now once again as the potential presidential nominee for the Democratic party in 2016.

Those were seeds planted in the fertile soil of the conservative brain, and now those roots have spread to infect the minds of those who have no reason to dislike or distrust Hillary Clinton but do so only because they have been conditioned to do so.

That is what her campaign faces going forward, not an actual indictment for wrong doing, but only the expectation that such an indictment is always just around the corner.

Rovian Propaganda 101. When Hillary talked about the great rightwing conspiracy back in the late 90's, I'm guessing she really had no idea how right she was, nor how it would only grow and expand and follow her all the way up to 2016. That she hasn't folded after all these years is just further proof of what a very strong woman she is. Putin and little Kim won't stand a chance against her.

The RWNJs have to keep after Hillary because someone might notice Republithugs Track, Bristol and Sarah, the "push-up bra governor" Senator Vitter seeking male sex in the airport restroom, Governor Sanford abandoning SC without a backup for the state while he spends time with his South American mistress, Newt Gingrich has to step down as Speaker of the House because they want to impeach Clinton for consensual sex but Gingrich's wife is dying of cancer in the hospital but Newt is screwing his girlfriend & now we have the famous Dennis Hastert Speaker of the House, convicted of sexual molestation of minors being tried and it is he who gave us the "majority of the majority" rule so no floor vote on any bill can be held without major support of the majority party members, and don't forget Eric Cantor, house minority whip then House Majority Leader, did not know how a bill becomes a law!!

This is the party of "family values." Liars, cheats and lazy, do nothing obstructionists but they have to push hate to deflect attention from their asinine lies!

Vote! Vote! Vote! but know who and what you are voting for, always.

I know its hard because there are so many, but please keep your REpubliTHUG sex scandals straight (pun intended) Vitter was "Diaper Dave" who paid prostitutes to treat him like a baby. It was Senator Wide Stance Craig in the airport bathroom.
Both of Newt's marriages ended in affairs.
Henry Hyde, caused the break up of a family with three kids by screwing Cherie Snodgrass while he was impeaching Bill Clinton called it a "youthful indiscretion - he was 41 at the time of the affair. He was also involved and profited from the Clyde S&L $candal.
And we have the current two in Michigan.

Sorry 7:12 AM - it was Craig at the airport so add that ReThug to the list and thanks for adding Henry Hyde. Vitter was a client of the DC Madam - forgot the Speaker that was to replace Newt had to bow out because he had an illegitimate child he had paid child support for since her birth -so many to track I guess one mistake for the type of illegitimate sex they sought isn't bad in my long list. Now let's see if Hastert gets the 5 years of prison proposed while we try to get some work done with the obstructionist rule he left us with way back when we did not know what he had done during his "coaching" years that for him included molesting and ogling young male bodies.

We don't have to like her. Those of us that voted for Obama for two terms don't have to like or support Hillary Clinton, they are two very different political entities.

The best example of this is that we voted for Obama in the 2008 primary, against Hillary, much to her surprise.

Why now, 8 years later should we change our minds about her? We didn't want her in 2008 and we don't want her now.

Here, I'll help you--President Obama was 47 years, 5 months when he assumed his first presidency.
Bernie Sanders was 39 when he was first mayor of Burlington. Then served 4, 2-yr terms as one of 'America's best Mayors', citation #75 on his wiki page. Then taught poli sci at Harvard's Kennedy School of Gov't and Hamilton College and then on to US Rep. I have to assume he was paid for his employment, so not penniless.
So easy to debunk, it took me less than 5 minutes out of my morning. Thanks for encouraging me to do my own research with your lie. Why lie anyway? Is there not enough true negative facts you can grouse about Sanders? Jeez

Yes, Bernie was paid for being Mayor of Burlington: His salary, $33,800 a year plus a car stipend of $1,200, according to the Boston Globe, was by far the most money he had ever made. He now gets a $5K per year pension.
But to the poster who claims that he was a loser before that - hardly. Not all wealth is measured in money. It's a matter of balancing the outgo and the income and living in a way that you are comfortable. I would call T.Rump more of a loser - despised by most humans, mistrusted by all and his only legacy, ugly buildings.
Money is a very bad measure of success or talent.

The fake front page will be the lead of the Globe’s Sunday Ideas section and "is a work of political satire and commentary produced by the Globe's Editorial Board, not the newsroom,” Globe Editorial Page Editor Ellen Clegg wrote in an email. A PDF of the front page was published on Saturday afternoon.

Someone in the GOP must have recognized that, even as a young woman married to the young governor of Arkansas, Hillary Clinton was clearly intelligent, committed to the causes she espoused and a potential powerhouse. That is the only rational reason for their all-consuming, decades old, desire to do her in. Isn't there a famous Einstein quote about insanity being repeating the same mistakes over and over? That is precisely the GOP modus operandi in dealing with an intelligent opposition. Unfortunately, given the electorate in this country, their insane repetitive mistakes sometimes work to their advantage. The GOP's motto should: "Lie, lie and lie again. Sooner or later people will believe you."

Oh, here's a debunking of the "deadbeat dad" b.s Martha Abbott, a founder of the Liberty Union party and longtime political ally, recalls that Sanders was devoted to Levi. He had partial custody of his son, and as a single father he struggled to make ends meet — he wrote freelance articles for publications and was for a time unemployed.

“He was very committed to being a parent,” Abbott said. “And he scraped together the money to take care of him.”

Sanders was very employable at the time, she says, but for a few years “he was trying out different things.”

“He wanted to do more writing, and I think he wanted to be there for Levi and spend time with him, and there were some choices involved,” Abbott said.

Hillary Clinton Celebrates Beating Expectations And Tying Sanders In Wyoming Delegates

Bernie Sanders won the popular vote in Wyoming, but Hillary Clinton performed better than expected and came out of the caucus tied with Sen. Sanders with the state’s pledged delegates.

In a statement Clinton campaign manager Robbie Mook said, “We congratulate Senator Sanders on a spirited campaign in Wyoming. Outperforming expectations, Hillary Clinton tied in pledged delegates today and now leads Senator Sanders by approximately 220 pledged delegates nationwide. Thanks to the help of thousands of volunteers, Hillary is winning the popular vote by almost 2.4 million and has a nearly insurmountable lead in pledged delegates that will become harder and harder to overcome after each contest. We are grateful to our supporters who know that Hillary Clinton would be the best candidate to break down the barriers that hold Americans back.”

    US NEWS

So Who Exactly Invited Bernie Sanders to the Vatican?

Some church officials take issue with the Vermont senator’s version of events

After Sen. Bernie Sanders announced he'd been invited to a major Vatican-sponsored forum on poverty – a high-profile "get," taking place just ahead of the New York Democratic primary – a top Vatican official in charge of the event has called him out for a breach of diplomatic protocol.

Margaret Archer, president of the Pontifical Academy of Social Sciences, blasted the Vermont senator for "monumental discourtesy," suggesting he wrangled a back-door invitation that kept her in the dark, according to Bloomberg Politics.

Though he's made poverty and economic inequality a centerpiece of his campaign, Sanders' participation threatens to inject politics into a solemn, largely academic gathering, Archer told Bloomberg. The senator, she added, wasn't on anyone's official guest list.

"Sanders made the first move, for the obvious reasons," Archer said. "I think in a sense he may be going for the Catholic vote but this is not the Catholic vote and he should remember that and act accordingly – not that he will."

Archer's account is "categorically untrue," Michael Briggs, a Sanders spokesman, told Bloomberg. "The invitation came to the senator from the Vatican."

Bishop Marcelo Sanchez Sorondo, the academy's chancellor, said he arranged for Sanders' invitation, although Bloomberg reports that the bishop "repeatedly declined to say who initiated the contact."

The public imbroglio over how Sanders was invited, and by whom, forced his campaign to defend itself on a day when it should have been hailing a development that could benefit him on several levels. A trip to Rome helps Sanders upgrade his thin diplomatic experience, has the potential for a photo op that will appeal to New York Catholics and energize secular admirers of Pope Francis, who has a parallel message on the evils of greed and poverty.

Sanders himself on Friday trumpeted the invitation, saying he was "very excited" to have received it. "To me, this a source of real pride and excitement that I have been invited to speak to a major conference at the Vatican on how we can create a world economy that is moral and how we address the massive levels of wealth and income inequality that exist around the world, how we deal with unemployment, how we deal with poverty and how we create an economy that works for all people rather than the few," he told the New York Times.

The Vatican, however, said it had nothing to do with the invitation.

Father Federico Lombardi, the Pope's spokesman told the Italian news agency Ansa that the Academy of Social Sciences invited Sanders, not Pope Francis, and that His Holiness doesn't plan to give the senator an audience.

"For the moment there is no expectation that there will also be a meeting with the pope," Lombardi said.

A letter about the conference, dated April 8 and posted on Sanders' website, has the official Vatican seal, but the letterhead is from the Academy of Social Sciences. It lists Sanders among several academics and world leaders who will be attending the conference.

"Our intention is socio-political in the highest sense of the term," the letter continues, because the academy was established by Pope John Paul II in 1994 "with the aim of promoting the study and progress of the social sciences, primarily economics, sociology, law and the political sciences."

      Storm in a tea cup.
Marcelo Sorondo invited Sanders to speak at the Pontifical Academy of Social Sciences(PASS) conference, and told Reuters is was his idea to invite Sanders.
The press ran an exaggeration, "sanders invited to Vatican with Pope!" and it was a lie which Sanders' campaign didn't rebut the second it went to press, but hours later did. Who is this Margaret Archer, "president of PASS, who told Bloomberg news that Sanders actively solicited the invite for political purposes"?
Meh, Archer's a christian, her skygod will forgive her for such a lie of commission.
Still researching the Michael Briggs character and his words.

  29. By the logic of the Rude Pundit, you're an asshole, Gryphen.

Years of accusations and innuendo against Sarah Palin and nothing has come of it for the most part. Particularly legally. By definition above = Asshole.

Now I happen to agree with a lot of your theories about Sarah Palin and I have a few of my own. So I'm probably be definition an asshole too.

But my point isn't that The Rude Pundit is right and you are an asshole. My point is that the Rude Pundit overlooked a very important fact about politicians which makes him wrong. That fact is, If a politician is valuable to those who are truly in power, they are protected from repercussions. When a politician is called on their bullshit and made to pay for it, it means they really pissed off the wrong person behind the scenes and were thrown out to the wolves. Sarah Palin is probably getting to that point where the good she can accomplish is far outweighed by the trouble she causes. There are some rats nests that the true powers don't want any lights shined on. Hillary still has plenty of use because she is a huge part of the machine that runs our world and she does her part and doesn't go rogue. Sarah wasn't that smart.

All this is why Hillary was so mad to lose to Barrack Obama and is so mad that Bernie is actually mounting a real challenge. The Presidency was supposed to be hers. She did everything they asked of her and they were supposed to deliver the presidency to her. But the electorate isn't following the script. Too many of them recognize Hillary for what she is. She has a 59% negative rating at present and that isn't conducive to be coming President.

Actually, Sarah Paylin WAS found to have committed ethics breaches--recall the Branchflower Commission on Troopergate? After they said she misbehaved, she declared herself vindicated. Plus, she settled several ethics suits. You don't settle when you're rich and powerful unless you fear being found guilty. So it's not exactly true that "Nothing has come of" investigations of Ms. Quittypants.

So now it's come to this. Anybody who supports Bernie has an infected mind. Let's just settle this. I'm 63 years old. I don't like Hillary for several reasons, NONE of which had to be fed to me by the right. She has used questionable or downright wrong judgement in several areas since back before she played tag team President with Bill. She is a proven liar. She is in favor of TPP, Keystone, NAFTA, DOMA, the huge prison business and the death penalty. She "doesn't know much" about marijuana, which is kind of a big thing in several states now, and something she might want to check out. Iraq, Panama, Syria and Libya. She was against the Iran deal. Oh, by the way-she was against gay marriage until a few minutes ago, and now, of course, she's against Keystone, TPP, etc. Anything Bernie is against, basically. She laughs at the idea of a minimum wage over $11 an hour. There's more, but that's plenty to display to you that I know why I don't like her, and do not want her in the White House. As for her butthurt at the "unqualified" remark, go check the tapes. In 2008 she said several times that Obama had "given a speech", as his qualification. I don't care who you vote for, or why. Just stop with the personal shit toward people who don't like your candidate.

"Anybody who supports Bernie has an infected mind. " Funny how you don't see that you do the same thing th Hillary supporters/defenders. We are "corrupt and bought by Hillary".

I've yet to see my first Hillary cheque. Can't wait to receive my $.05.

Funny how Bernie's "proven lies" don't affect your estimation of him. She has a higher honesty rating on PolitiFact than Sanders.

All voters - (Republican voters) - (Bernie Sanders supporters) = Hillary supporters.

Why not just say only Hillary supporters are convinced she has committed no crime? Clearly those who believe she has would have already left her camp, but to call them right wing is insulting to any liberal with a conscience that won't allow them to accept Hillary's level of integrity at a Presidential level.

I also think that Hillary's perspective of what the FBI is doing is meaningless because she is not privy to their investigation, and her denying it doesn't make it one iota less serious.

What is meaningless are these constant attacks USING one manufactured scandal after another for so long. What's pathetic is that you don't see the lack of any evidence against her "crimes" as troubling.

She is either the most powerful woman in the world capabale of commanding such a vast underground network of covert criminal operations and paying off so many people that the presidency should have won in 2008.

Or she is is innocent and after all these years, countless investigations and millions of dollars, they have found nothing BECAUSE THERE IS NOTHING THERE.

This may just be the longest witch hunt in history on a single person.

If you say you are "The Most Transparent Candidate" while constantly obfuscating data, what does that say about your integrity?

  35. I think for a majority of Americans--I include myself--we make political choices based upon very little factual information. Periodically I'll make a comment and right away someone will fire back with some 'facts.' Since HRC has been a political figure I've heard a lot about her, but I actually know very little: 'Stand by your man.' Whitewater, Vince Foster, Benghazi, emails, etc. I have no idea what the truth of any of these things really is. Nor do I believe anyone else does except those who were first hand participants.

We live in a 24/7 news cycle that must create drama continuously in order to galvanize viewers. The evening news comes on the same time every night year after year, and yet so often it's a Special Edition. No, it's still the same old nightly news broadcast. Special suggests an urgency that makes this news different from regular news.

Do I believe politicians, whether l like them or not, are beholden to special interests? Absolutely. Do I think politicians personally benefit financially from their positions? Yes. Do I believe most politicians are calculating? Yes. Are there things about HRC and Bernie I don't like? You bet.

So how will I vote? It won't be because HRC occasionally has a shrill voice or that she frequently doesn't seem authentic. It won't be because Bernie wags his finger. It doesn't matter to me that Trump's hair is weird or that Cruz really does look like a character from The Munsters. Nor will I be voting on things I cannot prove. I will not be voting on love of God and country and demonizing people and policies.

I will be voting on a vision and a declaration of principles and policies, most of which will probably never see the light of day.

SCIF is Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility. It is the room on the NCIS show where they talk secret stuff. Hillary had one in her house. It says so in her Benghasi sworn testimony. On the same page when she was asked if she was home alone. A SCIF was Hilary's other email. Google it yourself. MacBruce!

  37. The problem with not voting for the Democratic nominee for president, whoever it turns out to be, is the possible collateral damage to the rest of the government and by extension, the American people. The majority party holds so much power in Congress; Speaker of the House, Senate Majority leader, committee chairships, determining which legislation will even make it to committee, let alone ever be voted on, and on and on and on.

The president nominates Supreme Court justices. Based on their ages, at least 2-3 are likely to be replaced in the next 8 years.

The presidential election affects down ticket races.

I will vote for whoever the Democratic nominee is, whether or not it is my first choice, because that is the only way to keep moving on progressive change.
