Hillary Clinton sat down for an interview with the New York Daily News just like the one that caused Bernie Sanders so much difficulty. Guess how it went.

Courtesy of the Washington Post:

One word would describe Hillary Clinton’s Saturday sit-down with the New York Daily News editorial board: Boring! And that’s a good thing.

The 80-minute wonkfest with the two-term former senator from the Empire State was notably different from the editorial board meeting with Sen. Bernie Sanders a week earlier. That gathering was gasp-worthy for the Vermont Independent’s seeming inability to talk beyond his stump speech. Clinton had the opposite issue. She could talk — and talk and talk — about anything in thoughtful paragraphs stuffed with details.

Jonathon Capehart then goes on to lay out some of the questions that Clinton effortlessly knocked out of the park, which you can read for yourself by clicking that link at the top.

At the end Capehart sums it all up thusly:

Clinton talked about the broader economy, the U.S. relationship with Israel, mass incarceration and other issues during her Saturday visit at the Daily News. But I highlight her responses on the banks and college affordability to show that even on Sanders’s turf, Clinton has ideas, plans, something to say. When Sanders was asked about foreign policy, Clinton’s domain as a former secretary of state, he more than disappointed. “I don’t know the answer to that,” Sanders said when asked whether President Obama had “the right policy” in dealing with the Islamic State.

Daily News columnist Linda Stasi wrote over the weekend that Clinton was “as totally well informed as you expect her to be.” That’s not nearly as exciting as listening to a presidential candidate walk through policy like one walks on thin ice. But at this stage in the nomination contest, I’ll take “totally well informed” and the boredom that goes with it than the worrisome alternative.

Boring, well informed, confident, I'll take those attributes as positives for our next President.

Next argument will be "don't vote for Hillary...she's too overqualified!".

Define "overqualified." Which one is she overqualified for: Warmongering? Big bank kisses? Federal Reserve handover to Goldman Sachs? Keystone XL? Big Oil? Kissing the Saudi's ass for money when they are fanning the jihad flames? Which one is she overqualified in? I'd say pretty much all. Enough to make her non-electable.

It was cringe-worthy. Considering economic reform is the central focus of his campaign (with little else), he should know this stuff backward and forward. If the interviewer got something wrong, Sanders should be able to correct him. It did not instill confidence.

Where are the democratic standards? What we have in the Democratic party is the fight that normally was duked out during the primary. Big business(R) against working people(D). NOW- we have a war hawk, pro banks pro fracking pro business (H) against the working people. She has no interest in the working people. She is what a Repub would be a decade ago. WHY are people standing behind her? She is a close personal friend and takes advice from a WAR CRIMINAL- Nixon's Kissinger. They go on vacay together. WTH? WHY WHY would you bend over and accept this as a Democrat? I've been a Dem my whole life. Very liberal. This is not the party I started with. I was NEVER pro big banks, pro war, pro big oil. I'm not a part of this and I won't sell out the Dems. (what's left of them). I endorse Sanders. He is a 74 yr old man that has spent his life working for the people. Our parties are in such bad shape that he had to come out and run against her, because she is SO not in tune with the people. He didn't want to run, but no one else was going to run against the machine. He has the courage to stand for what is right, and I stand with him.

Warren wouldn't touch her with a 10-foot pole. She is AGAINST Wall St., which provides Clinton's bread and butter. Clinton is already working with Goldman Sachs to appoint their selection in the US Treasury. More fleecing to come. Warren went to her when she was 1st lady with information regarding the credit card scamming of Americans by big banks. Hillary was with her and understood the importance of the bill not being passed. She became Senator, and guess what? She passed the bill. You can view it yourself. Google Elizabeth Warren on Bill Moyers' show.

Why Elizabeth Warren can’t endorse Hillary Clinton
In a 2004 interview with Bill Moyers, Warren accused Clinton, then a senator from New York, of voting for a bankruptcy bill that was sought by the financial industry and that Clinton had previously opposed as first lady.
Asked why Clinton switched, Warren blamed the financial industry donations lining Clinton’s war chest. Of the big banks, Warren said Clinton “worries about them as a constituency.”

For Warren to endorse Clinton in the primary, she’d have to repudiate not only the anti-Wall Street crusade that carried her into office, but also her own words.

There’s another reason for Warren to keep her distance. Clinton has refused to release the transcripts of her private speeches. Who knows what they contain? One attendee told Politico that Clinton in her remarks sounded “like a Goldman Sachs managing director.” https://www.bostonglobe.com/opinion/2016/02/11/why-warren-can-endorse-clinton/sHTFHWzQosvaTDzXSGnFCI/story.html

This was the most comprehensive & interesting policy position I've ever seen. Every issue seems doable, even in our current congressional climate. She is simply the most well-informed knowledgeable candidate we've had in a long time. For me, Pres. Obama will always be my favorite, but she can skip right over the learning curve he had when he first entered office. Now, I don't particularly "like" Hillary, but dayum - she'll make a hell of a president. She's not a caricature, she's not "bought & paid for", she's a woman who has gotten very far because of smarts & savvy in a brutal environment. Has she made mistakes? Yes, but I don't hold my leaders to a standard that I can't even match. Go Hills!

Ted Cruz, While Better Than Donald Trump, Would Be a Catastrophically Bad Nominee

Donald Trump would probably be the worst candidate any major party has ever nominated — grossly uninformed, disorganized, personally and ideologically repellent to a majority of the public, and so unreliably attached to its core agenda he could potentially blow the party apart. Ted Cruz would be a much better choice. But there is a huge gap between “much better” and “good.” Cruz would not be a good nominee. He’d be very, very bad.

    Hillary Clinton Abandoning Education Reform

New York is a hotbed of anti-testing activism, especially in affluent suburban districts, where parents who equate testing with excessive curriculum pressure have joined forces with teachers unions who see standardized tests as a tool that subjects them to unwanted accountability. Hillary Clinton has already distanced herself from the education-reform movement, which is a predictable course of action for a Democrat facing a contested primary. The looming New York primary has raised the pressure for her to placate the burgeoning “opt-out” movement, which encourages students to boycott standardized tests. Bill Clinton asserted last week that even one national test per year is too many. “The idea of having to give a national test every year for five years in a row for people from the third to the eighth grade doesn’t make as much sense as investing the same amount of money in helping the teachers to be better teachers.”

I live in MI. Last year, our juniors had 16 hours of tests over three weeks. Inanition to being scheduling nightmare (and how do you do makeups for the inevitable sick kids?) the tests were dumb. This year, juniors took the SAT and a work skills test over two days. 9 and 10 take the PSAT in a morning. Done.
My kids graduated 20 years ago, and were both very intelligent. My daughter always came homemaking fun of the idiotic tests. She got a 1560 on the SAT (out of 1600 at the time) including a perfect score on the language portion. She was a National merit scholar, got free tuition at a private school and then free tuition at law school Make our schools better, and kids will be able to get into college instead of remedial classes, and they will have the grades to earn scholarships instead of going into debt. Also, parents, SAVE MONEY for birth for them. My kids had zero college debt, and our son went to a Big 10 school with about 1/4 in scholarships. There was even money left over in his account for a down payment on his first home.

Bernie is running as a DEmocrat for two reasons, to use them for his own needs ( notice he is NOT out there stumping for other candidates) and for the $$$$$ he is getting from the DNC. He is nothing but a fraud, an angry old white fraud.

Sanders gladly accepted money from the Democratic Senate Campaign to help win his election in 2006. I'm sure he was very careful to only take the dollar bills not donated by wall street firms.

Hillary is the only qualified one running. And I pick qualified over angry, pissed off, carnival barkers every time. I don't need her to be my best friend. This country needs her to be President. She is the only acceptable follow up to the exceptional President that we have had for the past eight years, but damn sure didn't deserve. I'm voting for sanity in government - again.

    Oh, and fuck Mitch McConnell.

Here's what I believe after watching the interview: Clinton was not just prepared, she was uncannily well-prepared. She is not generally that fast on her feet. The fix was in. Her pal Mort Zuckerman, owner of NYDN, with whom she and Bill vacation on Martha's Vineyard, made sure she got the questions in advance.

What bullshit. You're grasping at straws.

Everyone who has worked with Clinton says she knows her stuff. She is always extremely prepared for everything and just has a lot of knowledge. People call her extremely wonky.

Tonight Sanders is giving another speech to thousands of regular people in New York while Clinton left the campaign trail to go to another one of her high dollar fundraisers in Florida.

On April 15th, Bernie Sanders will be speaking at the Vatican. While will Clinton will be at a fundraiser in Los Angeles where it's $33,500 to get in and $353,400 to sit at table with George and Amal Clooney.

There's no doubt who would represent the People and who is beholden to and would serve the oligarchs.

      1) He will NOT be speaking at the VATICAN. He will be speaking at a side meeting and will not be meeting the pope.
      2) his campaign asked for the invitation and using their connections who hate Obama and Hillary, went over the head of the person who was organizing the meeting
      3) WHY WOULD BERNIE SANDERS WANT TO BE ASSOCIATED WITH AN ORGANIZATION THAT PROTECTS PEDOPHILES AND COVERS UP ABUSE?????

    3. Anonymous4:26 AM

Sanders said he's meeting the pope! (He's not).

It's a obvious attempt to get the Vatican to influence the election.

It is unfortunate that this group at the Vatical fell for the Bernie Sanders' campaign ploy. It makes a mockery of politics. In some ways, Bernie Sanders' campaign is very similar to Donald Trump's.

Clinton's so tonedeaf she allowed herself to be photographed again with the $1600 McQueen handbag. It's on the table behind her at the NYDN story. $600 haircut, $1600 handbag, $3500 silk shantung jacket. Totally tonedeaf to the people. Her campaign isn't about America, it's about her and power.

Why did President Obama & VP Biden both endorse her this week if she's so "tone deaf?" You seem to know more about her wardrobe than her policies. Perhaps that says a lot about you.

    2. Anonymous9:04 PM

You seem very jealous of that handbag, you have had multiple posts over the last week complaining about it.
Here's a hint, you too can have a bag like that. Get an education and get a JOB!

Clinton obviously should only shop at Target and Goodwill so as not to alienate the delicate voters.

(I shop at both those places; I am not offended when I see Clinton decked out just as I am not offended when I see Michelle Obama in gorgeous expensive gowns)

    5. Anonymous4:32 AM

Many of us don't want a bag like that. Most of us don't give a shit if someone else has a bag like that.

    6. Anonymous4:57 AM

The point is Clinton is now a very, very wealthy woman who flaunts a handbag that's worth a month's salary for many of the people whose votes she needs to win. I think that's utterly tone deaf and has nothing to do with jealousy. And news flash: Michelle Obama doesn't pay for those gowns. Designers like Maria Pinto and Jason Wu loan them to her.

4:57 - why is having good taste and the means to wear it "flaunting"? You'd prefer the DNC have to buy appropriate clothing for her, as the RNC did for Palin or something? Thank goddess we have a candidate who dresses appropriately!

Slightly, but not much/ off topic. In a column in our paper today Froma Harrup (I think I'm spelling her name correctly) dissects the Wisconsin vote for Bernie Sanders. A fair number of his voters did not bother to vote for anyone else on the ballot (and there were quite a few more, including candidates for a very contested state Supreme Court position). In addition there were quite a few Bernie voters who voted for the conservative candidate for the Supreme Court position, indicating that they were only voting on the Democratic ballot to keep Hillary Clinton from winning.

Typical Bernie Bro trying to cut down the female candidate and one of her voters by making sexist remarks, no surprise at all.
But here's a hint Bro, Gryphen can and will support who he wants and I am really sorry that your Buddy Bernard blew his interview where he actually had to answer questions. Now you do have the choice of coming to this blog or not, heck, you could even start your own. But stomping your feet, holding your breathe, or making sexist remarks are not going to change other people's views/
