In other news is appears that Donald Trump is now openly calling for a revolt among Republicans if he fails to win the nomination.

Gee you forget to check Twitter for a few days and look what you miss.

Of course Trump will explain these away as simple retweets and not him specifically suggesting that Republicans leave the party in protest, but I think we all know that is exactly what he is doing.

As I have said before all the Democrats have to do to win this election is to not fall apart, or start in an internal civil war, as we see happening with the Republicans.

The quicker we get our house in order the better prepared we are to take advantage of the damage that Donald Trump is doing to the GOP.

It's not Trump, but those voting for him, the "republican base."

He's got a point. His party has forgotten that they are NOT in charge and the people are in charge and if they have spoken and voted for Donald Trump then the GOP just needs to suck it up.

The nominating process is the parties choosing delegates to go to a convention to choose their nominees. The people have a voice but it's not really an election, never has been.

    2. Anonymous10:05 AM

So many people on both sides don't seem to understand the process! It's crazy! It's as if apolitical people expect to suddenly be able to whine about things they've never cared about in the 2008 or 2012 campaigns, for example.

I'd say that casting a vote in a primary certainly counts as "voting". Of course, most of it is under the table bargaining with super delegates and if a candidate has done them favors will get their support.

    4. Anonymous11:40 AM

Super delegates have been around for over 20 years as part of the Democratic primary process. But then you'd need to be a Democrat who voted in 2008 or 2012 to be aware of it, right?

Hello, we've forgotten that democracy only works if you have an educated populace. Without an educated populace, it's just mob rule. That is what the principle of many of those restrictive electorate laws were about back when. You had to be a landowner, because then you had something at risk. They truly believed that blacxks and women could not be educated (while wrong in practice and the arbitrariness of the groups they targeted, there is something to be said for mental competency as a criteria of voting. It's why public education had an easy sell for decades. You don't want a stoopid, easily duped fellow citizenry. Maybe this will teach the TeaTHUGS a lesson or two.

    No, Trump can't win

If Republicans nominate Donald Trump, they nearly cede the White House to Hillary Clinton. Trump wouldn't merely be an underdog in the general election. He would be the worst Republican nominee since Alf Landon 80 years ago.

The polls show Trump would be a disaster. To date, Trump's message control has been a disaster, and it would be a disaster in the general election. His political inexperience, which has hamstrung him in the primary cycle, would be a disaster in the fall.

All indications suggest a Trump versus Hillary battle would be a one-sided affair.

    Poll problems

Donald Trump would be the most disliked major-party nominee in the history of favorability polling.

The only presidential candidate to beat him in unfavorability never got close to the nomination: Former Ku Klux Klan Grand Wizard David Duke, who had 69 percent unfavorable ratings in 1992 — and Duke was within the margin of error of Trump, who is currently at 67 percent unfavorable in a late-March ABC/Washington Post poll.

That means that for every American who has a favorable view of Donald Trump, more than two others have an unfavorable view. A majority of the country, 56 percent, have a "strongly unfavorable" view in that survey. Trump's 37 percentage-point net unfavorable rating makes Democratic front-runner Clinton, who is 6 percent underwater in favorability ratings, look more than likable enough.

A clear majority, 59 percent, do not find Clinton honest and trustworthy. That's much better than Trump, who is found dishonest or untrustworthy by 69 percent. Trump polls worse than Clinton on basically every question.

    When asked if the candidate:

    • "Understands the problems of people like you?" Clinton is in the negative, but still has a 13-point edge on Trump.

    • "Has the right kind of experience to be president?" Clinton has a 40-point lead, 66-26, over Trump.

    • "Has the personality and temperament it takes?" Clinton is 33 points stronger.

Trump would be the least-respected, least-liked major party nominee since polling began.

That's why Clinton leads Trump by double digits in most recent polls, with an average of 10.6 percent according to RealClearPolitics. She has led Trump in the RCP average for the entire campaign. That lead grew steadily throughout March, ever since Clinton and Trump became the clear front-runners for their party nominations.

Compare that to past elections. In the first half of April 2012, President Obama's lead over Mitt Romney hovered between 2.3-5.3 percent. Obama's largest lead in the RealClearPolitics average at any point in 2012 was 5.9 percent. Obama held a double-digit lead over Romney in only one poll after March 1, 2012.

Obama's largest lead over John McCain was eight points.

The problem isn't just Clinton's lead. It's Trump's apparent ceiling: His average in head-to-head national polls against Clinton has never climbed above 44 percent, and he's been hovering around 40 percent since Super Tuesday.

    Electoral college

No Republican has ever won the White House without carrying Ohio, and Trump is looking bad in Ohio. Clinton beat Trump in all three Ohio polls conducted in March, by an average of six points.

Any review of the Electoral College looks ugly for Trump.

The website "270 to Win" looked at polling averages and found Clinton carrying 260 electoral votes to Trump's 115 votes, with 165 up for grabs. Clinton's vote total on the site doesn't include Minnesota, Iowa, Ohio or Florida, all states where Clinton has to be considered the favorite. If Clinton carried Minnesota, Ohio or Florida — any one of those — she would win.

Look at every other swing state....

Yes, but will the Dem voters figure it's slam dunk and not bother to vote? Better to say, the vote is on a knife edge (which it is, considering voter suppression, etc): every vote counts, esp. in those states that require (because gerrymandering) 2 to 3 Dem votes for every 1 Republican.

And I think the Repubs WILL vote, if only to keep the f**king liberals out of office.

Robert Reich: Sanders Knows How to Break Up the Big Banks—That's Why He Scares the Establishment
Of course Sanders knows how to bust up the big banks.

"...Of course Sanders knows how to bust up the big banks. He’s already introduced legislation to do just that. And even without new legislation a president has the power under the Dodd-Frank reform act to initiate such a breakup.

"But Sanders threatens the Democratic establishment and Wall Street, not least because he’s intent on doing exactly what he says he’ll do: breaking up the biggest banks.

"The biggest are far larger today than they were in 2008 when they were deemed “too big to fail.” Then, the five largest held around 30 percent of all U.S. banking assets. Today they have 44 percent.

"According to a recent analysis by Thomas Hoenig, vice chairman of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, the assets of just four giant banks – JPMorgan Chase, Citibank, Bank of America, and Wells Fargo – amount to 97 percent of our the nation’s entire gross domestic product in 2012.

"Which means they’re now way too big to fail. The danger to the economy isn’t just their indebtedness. It’s their dominance over the entire financial and economic system.

"Bernie Sanders isn’t the only one urging the big banks be broken up. Neel Kashkari, the new president of the Federal Reserve bank of Minneapolis – a Republican who used to be at Goldman Sachs – is also pushing to break them up, as has the former head of the Dallas Federal Reserve, among others....."

6 Ways Trump May Lose The Nomination By Blowing The Biggest Negotiation of His Life

The odds are not in his favor in an open convention.

...Writing in the National Review, Will describes how Trump's team is not just utterly ignorant of the ways the states choose national convention delegates, but says Ted Cruz is out-negotiating Trump by building relationships with delegates to vote for Cruz.

“The nomination process ‘is a multilevel Rubik’s Cube,’ says Jeff Roe, Cruz’s campaign manager. ‘Trump thought it was a golf ball—you just had to whack it,’” Will writes. “He knows nothing about the art of the political deal.”

You can save your Hillary math, Bernie is really the one in the drivers seat and they know it

The mainstream media and our Hillary supporting friends like to constantly remind us that that no matter what Bernie does from here, he can’t catch Hillary in delegates. The pundits love going to their computer maps on TV and showing us that even if Bernie wins the rest of the states 55 to 45 he still won’t catch her in earned delegates. Lets just be honest, they are trying to convince you to give up so you won't vote or will give your vote to the establishment.

But what they aren’t telling you is that neither candidate is on a path to win the minimum number of earned delegates needed to win the nomination. That both will need super delegate support to secure the magic number on earned delegates alone. And that super delegates wont actually be voting until the convention when all primary and caucus voting is done. At that point they as super delegates are tasked with selecting the candidate who will be the best candidate for the party to win not only the white house but also down ballot races in the general election.

The following breakdown will show why this is still anybody's race to win and why Bernie not Hillary actually has the inside track at the nomination.

Trump Comes Out Of Hiding And Immediately Humiliates Himself By Attacking The CIA

...Trump’s attack on the CIA was more proof that he has no idea how government really works. If elected to be the next president, Donald Trump assumed that he could order people to do things, and they would be done. However, the public sector is not the private sector. As president, Trump would not be able to throw money and threats around to get his own way.

The Republican frontrunner’s answer on Fox News was humiliating because it put on full display Trump’s complete ignorance. The presidential campaign has gotten to the point where Donald Trump is embarrassing himself on a daily basis. On Sunday, Trump complained that the delegate allocation system was rigged because he didn’t understand the rules and failed to build a campaign that could win delegates at state conventions.

Donald Trump has proven himself to be a danger to national security, and his attack on the CIA is proof that the man who has amassed the most delegates in the Republican primary is an embarrassing disgrace who is unfit for the White House.

The Cruz campaign ran the table in Colorado, capturing all 34 delegates at a series of seven congressional district meetings this month and the state party convention Saturday in Colorado Springs.

Colorado GOP leaders canceled the party's presidential straw poll in August to avoid binding its delegates to a candidate who may not survive until the Republican National Convention in July.

Instead, Republicans selected national delegates through the caucus process, a move that put the election of national delegates in the hands of party insiders and activists — leaving roughly 90 percent of the more than 1 million Republican voters on the sidelines.

The decision sparked significant controversy at the time and removed Colorado from the Republican primary map in the early stages of the campaign. But Cruz supporters worked quietly behind the scenes to build an organization to get like-minded Republicans to the March 1 precinct caucuses and capitalized on the Trump campaign's failure to adapt to the system.

Though as sick and tired as I am of hearing about Trump, I can’t really root for his downfall. As I’ve been saying for months, the candidate right behind him, Sen. Ted Cruz, is much worse. Whenever I’m asked if I was forced to choose between the two candidates which one would I rather see president, I do not hesitate to say Trump. The truth of the matter is, the only reason why Cruz hasn’t been torn apart in the media is because Trump is so utterly and totally absurd that he completely overshadows the Texas senator. But make no mistake about it, Ted Cruz is every bit as radical as Trump – and then some. Even within the GOP itself, other Republicans who clearly can’t stand Cruz are kind of, sort of backing him simply because Trump is that embarrassing. The feeling I get is that these Republicans would rather lose with Cruz as their nominee than risk winning with Trump. That’s essentially what Trump supporter Newt Gingrich said recently while talking about the two candidates.

With young people now ready as ever to align with an ideology once stigmatised, and the GOP now having nowhere to go in the face of rapidly growing anti-establishment sentiment, what’s the next step for the political establishment? Martin Andersen explains.

Bernie Sanders’ rise and rise looks set to continue, but no-one could have expected a socialist to come this far – after all, with the United States’ history of McCarthyism and Red Scares, he was always going to be painted as a radical.

Yet, a February poll revealed that American youth view socialism more favourably than capitalism. So why are young Americans flocking to embrace an ideology they’ve been taught to hate?

As the Presidential Race edges closer to an inevitable tipping point, perhaps there’s no better time to reflect on what has transpired in these unforgettable few months.

Bernie Sanders is surging across the Democratic primary landscape, with a series of polls showing him slashing Hillary Clinton’s leads in the critical states ahead and becoming competitive in states where he once appeared to have no chance.

    1. Excellent, if terrifying, article about the poor state of public education in America:

"An advanced degree in sociology is not mandatory for finding evidence confirming [Connie] Rice’s bleak forecast of America’s ignorant future. Two-thirds of Americans cannot name a single Supreme Court justice, and half are incapable of identifying all three branches of government. Forty-two percent of the public does not believe in evolutionary biology, while 24 percent believe that the sun orbits the earth.

Nearly a quarter of Americans read below the fifth-grade level, which helps to explain why only 29 percent read a newspaper, and why 24 percent of Americans do not read even one book a year."

I can't even follow politic anymore. I'm depressed over my friend's devastating legal situation. Her 10yo was molested by her father for 3 years. When charges were brought to him, he and his aunt threatened and bribed several court officials and had it thrown out so he could acquire full custody because according to his fucked up head, his ex wife is the bad woman. So this girl has to live with him full time because apparently men STILL have all the power.

    Fuck the world.

Sorry to hear about your friend!

So you ignore the first female presidential candidate who has a chance to win, someone who has fought for mothers' rights, and for children? Hmmm. Someone who stands for reproductive rights every day, while Bernie disses Planned Patenthood as "the Establishment"? Hmmm.

Of entitled young adults, all covering up the fact that Trump produces shoddy products and services in a house of cards organization.
Do really rich people run pyramid schemes for vitamins or participate in reality shows? Trump is basically a concierge for his buildings.

Don't lose focus. There is only one issue to achieve. "overturn citizen united" this is a must. Get the money out of our elections. FORCE the corporations and war dept to pay down the national debt that they created. Control the cost of living with the living minimum wage. Balance. Our Income MUST balance with the basic cost of living. Regulate cost of all basic utilities. Push Education vs prison. Get the massive profits out of medical, pharma, dental. Get corporations off of welfare. Force them to pay a living wage. This is not about our party, their party, a person or their family nor agenda. It is about 99% of the American population, their income, their tax, their healthcare, their education, their future. It is time to reverse this course of corporation global takeover of our natural resources, land, food, people, history, etc etc etc. Once again all together...STAND UP AMERICAN'S STAND UP FOR YOURSELF AND VOTE. Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. vote.

Bernie Sanders’s supporters are fond of the hypothesis that Democratic superdelegates, the elected leaders and party officials who currently support Hillary Clinton by a lopsided-doesn’t-even-begin-to-describe-it 469 to 31, are going to bow to the “will of the people” if Sanders ends up winning more pledged delegates than Clinton by June.

There’s just one hiccup in this logic: Sanders fans seem to be conflating the pledged delegate count and the “will of the voters,” when in fact the two are far from interchangeable.

Are you happy about the delegates' votes counting more than the average citizen's vote? I'm not. Don't like the delegate system at all. The supposed beauty of USA is One Citizen, One Vote. *sigh*

Yeah, I'm fine with it. It's just the Primaries, and it's their (the Supers') reward for doing so much work for the Democratic Party. They are only 15% of the total delegates.

I would not be for it in a General Election.

Actually, the US is not a democracy,it is a republic. We elect representatives who make decisions for us,we don't directly vote on each decision.

It's one thing to be mentally afflicted due to an accident, but does this guy know about electoral colleges, delegates, and how the rules work? The obvious answer is no, but keep bashing the RNC and it's stupid rules!
    Has he no shame?

Donald Trump is complaining that he has the most "votes." Now they tell him that he has to have the most delegates voting for him at the convention, you know, that magic number stuff 1237. Until now, Trump assumed that if he had more votes, he would be the winner. The experts talking on MSNBC said that the rules have been in place for the Republican Party for more than a year. Rules. Such a tricky thing, those rules. Like Ivanaka and the other kid not registering as Republicans in order to vote for their father. It means that Trump has a very poor campaign staff if they don't know what the rules are, delegates vs. votes, when to register in order to be able to vote.
