Jane Fonda warns of violence if Hillary Clinton is elected President.

Courtesy of the Daily Mail:

The actress and social activist warned that the former Secretary of State would face backlash from the nation's 'toxic masculinity' if she were to become the first female President of the United States.

'One of the things we have to do is help men understand why they are so threatened, and change the way we view masculinity. We have a toxic masculinity and that's what needs to be addressed.'

'I think that deep down, people feel [Clinton] can hit the ground running, even if she may not be the perfect candidate for a lot of people,' she said. 'She's had the experience. The world right now is so complicated — she has the background to deal with all the complications.'

Of course Jane Fonda is another person that the conservatives love to hate (Remember Hanoi Jane?) but she is probably not wrong here.

I personally think that if Trump does not win the GOP nomination there will be violence no matter who wins the Democratic nomination. But I agree that Hillary will attract even more hatred than the old Democratic Socialist Jew will.

That fact is already on full display among the Trump supporters.
But does that mean we DON'T elect Hillary Clinton?

Hell no, it means if she is our candidate that we work even harder to get her elected.

After all did the fact that making Barack Obama our President really, really pissed off the racists stop us from voting for him?

So is that the fallback, anyone that didn't vote for Obama is a racist?

So now anyone who doesn't vote Hillary is a misogynist?

Still pretending to not be the dividing party? Even though everything is racial or gender with you?

    5. This site has become polarized with comments like these. Is it possible, now, to take a step back and let some light and air into these discussions? Or are discussions not welcome anymore? Were they ever?

It is becoming obvious that once we have chosen "our" candidate, no offerings (of any kind) that shed light on our "chosen one" may be tolerated or even have the right to be presented here?

It is Psych 101 -- once a person chooses, his/her candidate is now inerrant and to change one's mind is as hard to do as turning in a con man who has swindled you: it makes you look a fool to have trusted him in the first place.

I think part of what threatens men so much at the thought of Hillary's presidency is that she can, in fact, handle anything and everything they throw at her. People also need to get over this idea of a "perfect candidate ".

There was no overt violence when Obama was elected. Weak men and resentful women will feel threatened, but they'll have to get over it.

    1. Yes. But while it wouldn't occur to Bubba that the little woman would vote for a black man, he has enough doubts that she might vote for a woman over Trump.

I think Jane is right. But we'll never see the violence. It will take place privately, behind closed doors as it always has. We'll just see the black eyes and split lips the next day when the little wifey goes to get the groceries and tells everyone how she just slipped and fell.

I expect there will be a rise in spiral fractures and broken ribs in emergency rooms right around the elections too.

Hillary Clinton has had my vote!

We (the majority Americans!) just have to constantly talk about her experience and how well she'll be able to handle things for our country as POTUS! Positive thoughts and positive things!

The negative crap - as to the media - is really getting old. Remember that President Obama won TWICE in spite of the rhetoric from the Republicans. It can be done again with electing the first woman POTUS!

    The vote is what matters!

Fonda spoke of 'backlash'. The mischaracterization of that as Fonda 'warned of violence' appears to be anti-Clinton fear-mongering that originated in an article from The Blaze, Glenn Beck's news organization.

OT - Here's a stand-your-ground gun story you will find hard to believe. This happened Friday in Prince George's County, Maryland. There are a lot of holes in the to say the least.

A man shot multiple people - including a Prince George's County firefighter who died from his injuries - during a welfare check. Welfare checks are something firefighters do routinely when they are concerned about someone's safety. A second Maryland volunteer firefighter struck four times was critically wounded.

No word on the motive, and the shooter has been released from police custody. Police have not released his name, but a county fire spokesman said it may have been a tragic mistake - the man possibly thought that the rescuers were intruders seeking to break into his house.

(No charges have been filed (and probably won't be). This story is flying below-the-radar even in the local news, much less national news.)

The suspected shooter and the 911 caller are brothers. The shooter's brother who called 911 had told authorities his brother had been having trouble with his blood sugar and recently blacked out, and he was concerned because his brother wasn't answering his phone or the door.

Even Asher Edelman, one of the real-life templates for Gordon “greed is good” Gekko of the 1987 movie Wall Street, has joined the club, writing in the Guardian that only Sanders is “committed to honest solutions” to the crisis of income inequality.

"The fact that Frank – a prominent New York hedge fund manager – is only willing to talk to the Guardian anonymously itself tells a story. It’s not that he’s ashamed about his backing for Bernie – quite the contrary: he has openly canvassed for Sanders in Iowa and frequently goes out leafleting for him in New York City.

"Rather, Frank’s desire to keep his name out of the news was a reflection, he said, of the stultifying consensus within the New York financial world that Sanders’ proposals to rein in Wall Street and prevent another Great Recession are dangerous and must be rebuffed.

"He looks at his fellow hedge fund folk, and thinks to himself that “they have made so much money, yet all they want to do is preserve what they’ve got. It’s got so out of whack that virtually nobody is willing to think about the basic unfairness of income inequality or how to improve the economy.”

Undoubtedly Jane Fonda is one who can truly understand the concept of "toxic masculinity" and what Hillary Clinton is facing, given the years of ugly tirades towards her by those who could never forgive her for her past actions. That said, it is well past time to dismantle the "good ole boy" system and those who would seek to threaten and intimidate--whether it be directed at a specific race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, and most certainly (and belatedly), gender. I respect and will absolutely support Sanders if he should prevail, but while I do not agree with all of HRC's positions and policies, in my heart, I do still think it is her time and she has earned it. Fortunately, I believe there are enough enlightened men to help ensure that the Neanderthals among us are contained within the law.

“Staff, faculty and students “have been reduced to silence and fear of retribution by what can only be described as a pattern of intimidation, spying, and targeting of critical voices,” she wrote.

“Grill described a closed and hostile environment, claiming that Sanders frequently yelled at staff and managed to eliminate anyone who voiced criticism. In the letter, Grill claims that “many concerned voices were forced out by continual abuse and by eventually being offered humiliating and unfair contracts in which they were demoted below people who were, in many cases, less qualified for their positions.”

The affordable housing crisis is a nationwide problem that is rarely discussed by policymakers. Sanders was touring an urban area, but the crisis impacts both urban and rural communities.
