Just when you thought it was safe to go back into the political waters, Benghazi, Benghazi, Benghazi!

Courtesy of the Washington Post:

Is Trey Gowdy planning a July surprise?

The chairman of the Select Committee on Benghazi went to ground after he and his colleagues grilled Hillary Clinton in October. They haven’t had a single hearing since then (and had only three public hearings before that one), though they occasionally send news releases reminding the world that their 700-day-old investigation continues.

But that is about to change. Gowdy, after blowing through several previous deadlines he set, has said to expect a final report “before summer,” and Republicans say they are drafting it now. In another indication that the rollout is approaching, Gowdy last month stopped giving Democrats transcripts of witness interviews. This move, ostensibly to prevent leaks, diminishes the minority’s ability respond to allegations contained in the majority report.

Depending on how long the declassification review takes, the Benghazi report is on track to drop by mid-July, just before Congress recesses for the conventions and at a time when Republicans will be in need of a distraction from the Trump-Cruz standoff. If the review takes longer (they typically last from a few weeks to a several months), it could come out in September, in the campaign’s homestretch.

Of course this all but confirms what critics have long said about his "investigation" all along.

It is nothing but a witch hunt designed specifically to damage Hillary Clinton's chances of winning the presidency.

Do you know why there are no taxpayer resources wasted on investigating Bernie Sanders? Or for that matter any real money spent on anti-Sanders campaign ads? Because he is the GOP's wet dream for a Democratic candidate, and literally the only hope they have of winning this election.

Hillary Clinton flat terrifies the Republican party, and their donors, and that might be the best political endorsement that she could possibly hope to receive.

  1. Ohhh really? Bernie is polling better than Clinton now against Republicans. And not just by a little. Here's Bernie VS Trump. You can click on the links that show each candidate in a head to head. Bernie is +16 against Trump and Clinton is +10. Against Cruz, Bernie is +10 and Clinton is +2.8 Against Kasich Bernie is about a +3 and Clinton is down -10. Better re-figure your betting.

Bernie's "scandals" aren't scandals to his supporters and most democrats.

The GOP ads will read that Sanders is a self-proclaimed socialist who will raise your taxes.

The republican voters are going to love that.

I feel so sorry for the Bernie peeps. He doesn't have a chance. He's abdicating NY to go fart around in Rome, without an invitation from the Pope. Hopefully he can eat some pasta. We know he won't be praying or anything. Maybe he can join the tourists in the Sistine Chapel. Surely he won't make any further comments about Dr. Paul Song's vile use of the term "Democratic whores" while at the Vatican!

There is no path to a Bernie victory. But they are still hoping upon hope that Gowdy will somehow convict Hillary - FOR WHAT? That's what no one can answer. FOR WHAT?

Sorry, Berners. It's going to be a tough spring.

Abdicating isn't the right word. Conceding is more like it.

Wow. You don't know how much money has been wasted on dirt about Obama? Yes, they wasted taxpayer resources on trying to repeal Obamacare, Boehner filing a lawsuit against him--so much more, actually. Sanders is so inconsequential that no one cares. But people ARE starting to wake up as to why he won't release his tax returns. Hmmm. I smell fish.

And this is the reason why we can't have free and fair elections. 4 Americans died i Benghazi. Hillary was Sec. of State, knew what was going on, and failed the 3am call test. That 4 died demands an answer. That answer must come from Hillary, not Bernie. That's why she is being investigated.

That you blame Hillary for Benghazi instead of the violent assailants tells me ALL I need to know about your judgement. It's been four years. There was no "stand down" order. That is a lie. Why did the GOP not find such an order in 4 years? Why? Did you watch the 11 hour Benghazi hearing last fall? The GOP was vicious but found nothing.

Just remind those republicans of the 240 marines and 60 various other people he killed in Lebanon. After his own secretary of state advised him to not keep all those people in such an exposed area, protected by concertina wire. Of course they were all killed by a suicide bomber, but the republicans focus on 4 in Benghazi. 300 vs 4.

Switching from Hillary to Bernie: An evolution from an education

Confessions of a former Hillary supporter.

I had a "Ready for Hillary" logo as my desktop before she'd officially announced. I'm a lifelong progressive and loved Bill, voted for him twice and thought she'd be great at carrying on his legacy. I then started discussing it with a friend who supports Bernie (believing I'd win her over to being a Hillary supporter). It's human nature to defend one's positions, and I'm no exception. But there is a point where it's more important to do the right thing than to "be right."
I'm an attorney, and critical thinking skills, weighing evidence and, above all, seeking justice before coming to (or changing) a conclusion is what my life is about.

Why did I switch? Why am I urging you to?

He should have run many years ago so that he understood the primary rules. But he'll be too old to ever run again. Oh, well. At least he'll be running as an Independent for his next Senate term.

Sanders rep Dawson calls Hillary a racist sexist

...It’s surprising that the Sanders campaign is continuing to use such incendiary language about Democrats in general, and Secretary Clinton in particular, as Sanders’ negatives continue to rise, possibly because he’s become so angry in the past few weeks as it became evident that the nomination was becoming increasingly out of his grasp. Sanders’ popularity plateaued in February, while unfavorables continue to rise:
