March was so hot it shattered a century long record.

Courtesy of The Guardian:

The global temperature in March has shattered a century-long record and by the greatest margin yet seen for any month.

February was far above the long-term average globally, driven largely by climate change, and was described by scientists as a “shocker” and signalling “a kind of climate emergency”. But data released by the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) shows that March was even hotter.

Compared with the 20th-century average, March was 1.07C hotter across the globe, according to the JMA figures, while February was 1.04C higher. The JMA measurements go back to 1891 and show that every one of the past 11 months has been the hottest ever recorded for that month.

But remember according to Sarah Palin Bill Nye is only a "kids' show actor" so clearly nobody should be an "alarmist" is response to this data.

I wonder if when people start to spontaneously combust in the sun if that will be enough to convince these idiots that we have a problem and that man is responsible for it?

"The first 100 days of 2016 were record warm for many spots around Alaska, continuing a pattern of warmth that has gripped the state over much of the last three years and looks to continue for at least the next few months.
The prolonged period of decidedly unusual balminess — the result of a particular combination of climate factors (and a nudge from long-term global warming) — comes with concerns for an earlier wildfire season, salmon die-offs and damage to roads and other infrastructure as seasonally frozen ground thaws early."

  2. If the Democrats suddenly became deniers of Climate Change, the Republicans would be its champion.

Don't be silly. Of course not. These idiots will claim that people spontaneously bursting into flame is just Satan claiming his own.

I'm in Michigan, and we had virtually no snow until March. We had five snow days..three in a row. But what was weird was that we'd get a half foot of snow, which would then melt within two days. This happened three consecutive weeks. Now the forsythia are in bloom, two weeks early. The climate has changed, and yes ding dong Sarah, WE are changing it...for the worse.

    Sarah:

"Science" and "scientist". You keep using those words. I do not think they mean what you think they mean.

I believe it no longer matters *who* is responsible but *what* humans are going to do about it.

As I understand the situation, the warmer the temperature, the larger the storms. This summer on the tornado plains ought to be interesting.

      Also, too, hurricane season.

    2. Actually, some of these factors may actually weaken hurricanes--but tornadoes? Oh yeah. Mad tornadoes. And in places not seen before.

These deniers only believe what the Koch brothers tell them to believe.

Yes. An educational kid's show teaching them about science. Once again, Palin shows off her colossal ignorance, her mind-boggling stupidity, and her absolute contempt for education and for teachers.

  9. She's frightened. She's an idiot, but she's frightened. She was damn near catatonic during the McCain non-election, and they thought she was insane.

We've all watched her swing from manic hyperactivity and word-salading to suddenly disappearing for a few weeks. She's not a well-balanced woman, and nobody is helping her with her meds, and personally, I think she uses meth to self-medicate. And climate change scares her because any change scares her, and she can't deal with it, so she's in denial.

Incidentally, climate change scares me. It's going faster than they thought it would and it's going to impact every area of our lives. I don't think the human race will die out, but I think civilization might. And I have grandchildren.

    http://www.cbsnews.com/news/greenland-ice-sheet-melting-as-temperatures-warm/

The Greenland ice sheet is already off to a record melt this year. I have read that the Greenland Ice sheet will add 7 feet to the ocean when (not if) it melts.

So, be smart IMer's and don't buy property at sea level. And if you have sea level property, now might be a good time to sell. Sell your property to a climate change denier and see how well that works out for them.

A lot of old people(me included)have trouble getting ansd staying warm. Seems the Tundra Turd must be old, and can't feel that the past Alaskan winter was MUCH warmer than normal.

A shame they spent so much money rebuilding New Orleans, when it will for sure sink far below sea level. Levees 50 feet high don't seem like a reasonable solution. Or maybe 'dikes'...

One of the arguments I've read against climate change is the seas are not rising as fast as predicted, even as the ice is melting. Has anyone else read this?

My hypothesis is water follows the path of least resistance so why wouldn't the extra ice melt go down into the earth, replenishing the depleted reservoirs and caverns (aka the water table here in the West). I know there are official words but my brain goes boink, hence the simplistic language.

Is there a way to measure or test my hypothesis? It really wants to become a theory. :D

Unfortunately the major portion of the ice melt is occurring in Greenland and Antarctica, where it flows directly into the sea.

There is speculation that as the climate warms that winter snow levels will increase in the mountainous areas of the western US and that seasonal melt would then restore groundwater resources.

I guess my next step would be to research coastal caves and the phenomena of sinkholes. I know Florida is riddled with them, at least I think I remember that... the boinked brain is not as accurate as it used to be.

I saw a picture of the Sierra Madres which are usually white but with the drought they are brown. The Rockies are not far behind (being bare of snow at the highest altitudes)

and Sarah Palin is just a skank got loose from Wasilla. Old woman you have nothing more to say to this world with your antiquated mentality. You need to call it a day, and go home and take care of family. The crazies that follow you and Donald Trump will eventually get back on their meds and even out for a bit.

Yeah, Sarah, he has a kid's show. You should give it a try, you're more than qualified with that tabla rasa has been reality show "star", washed out and hung to dry politician/mother/wife/grandmother/former Governor and runner up in the flute blowing contest.
