Bernie Sanders on Jimmy Kimmel last night essentially says that he sees this debate with Donald Trump as a way to seize the nomination.

Courtesy of Raw Story:

Sanders suggested the debate, which he wants to be held in California ahead of the state’s June 7 Democratic primary, and Kimmel asked Trump whether he’d be willing to go for it during an appearance Wednesday on “Jimmy Kimmel Live.”

Trump said he would do it, and Sanders appeared Thursday night on Kimmel’s talk show, where he offered some thanks to the host.

“You made it possible for us to have a very interesting debate about two guys who look at the world very, very differently,” Sanders told Kimmel.

The Vermont senator said the debate against the presumptive Republican presidential nominee would essentially replace a debate he’d expected to have against Clinton, the Democratic presidential frontrunner.

“We had reached an agreement for a number of debates, including one in California, (but) unfortunately — and, I think, not appropriately, Secretary Clinton decided not to go forward,” Sanders said, adding that her decision frustrated him. “First of all, it’s kind of insulting to the people in the largest state in the United States of America not to come forward and talk about the issues, serious issues, that impact the state and impact the country, so (I’m) disappointed that she chose not to come forward.”

Kimmel showed him a clip of Clinton telling CNN’s Jake Tapper that she “will be the nominee for my party — that is already done, in effect,” and asked Sanders if her comments made him angry.

“Just a tinge (of) arrogance there, I think,” Sanders said. “Unfortunately, the people of Indiana a couple of weeks ago, the people of West Virginia, the people of Oregon who gave us a pretty good victory, don’t quite agree with Secretary Clinton’s assessment, and we split Kentucky, and I kind of think that on June 7 people of California will have a message for Secretary Clinton: Don’t count your chickens.”

Holy shitballs! Well there is no misinterpreting what Sanders is saying here.

He essentially thinks that if this debate with Trump garners enough attention, and gives him enough momentum, that he can wrest this nomination out of Hillary's hands at the convention.

Something like this debate between a party nominee and the opposing party's number two contender has NEVER been done before, and it flies in the face of political decorum and sportsmanship. (Here is what Rachel Maddow had to say about this last night on her show.)

Not that it really matters because hours after I wrote this post Trump issued this statement:

Based on the fact that the Democratic nominating process is totally rigged and Crooked Hillary Clinton and Deborah Wasserman Schultz will not allow Bernie Sanders to win, and now that I am the presumptive Republican nominee, it seems inappropriate that I would debate the second place finisher. Likewise, the networks want to make a killing on these events and are not proving to be too generous to charitable causes, in this case, women’s health issues. Therefore, as much as I want to debate Bernie Sanders - and it would be an easy payday - I will wait to debate the first place finisher in the Democratic Party, probably Crooked Hillary Clinton, or whoever it may be.

A statement by the way that thanks to Bernie Sanders' careless disregard for the guidelines of the primary process will now receive  quite a bit of media attention.

So Sanders once again provides ammunition for Donald Trump to go after not only Hillary Clinton, but also Debbie Wassserman Schultz and the Democratic primary process itself.

So this is how the primary season will end for the Democrats?

Not with a calm counting of delegates and a mature acceptance of loss by those without the numbers, but rather an angry clash between those who understand the system and those who want to burn it down.

I'm sorry that's "Bern it down,"

I can only imagine how much the Republicans are enjoying all of this!

The best we can hope for in the early years of the Reign of Drumpf is that 1) He will demand that everyone refer to Him as "Excellency", 2) no one His lesser may gaze directly upon His Doughy Awesomeness and 3) every man, non-man and child will receive a derisive nickname at birth, chosen for them by members of the Royal Drumpf family. That's literally the best we can hope for.

Now, will he back out of the one w/Hillary? She can run circles around him with her knowledge of world affairs, etc. And, if he continues to call her nasty names during the debate, he'll lose voters because of his idiocy and nastiness!

Watched it. Sarah must have been so tickled to show up in San Diego and speak. It also sounded like someone edited her. I could see she was reading from a teleprompter and someone surely reined things in and created actual sentences out of her crap. Her big task was to diss Pres Obama for going to Japan. All the silly idiot Repigs just can't candle that he did this, and all the right-wing publications have complained and lied as they've complained. And that b-i gets to lie and claim he went to apologize, which did not happen. So much was involved. There was also a two-day summit. And there are pics of the pres embracing a Japanese man who was 8 when his city was bombed. This man fought to have the names of some Americans added to the Japanese memorial. Obama's mission was about a non-nuclear future for all and he was honoring all of the dead in his visit. The Repigs act like he is staying in Japan for Memorial Day. Duh, he was back on Air force 1 a long time ago, his first stop being in Alaska. In less than an hour he'll be back in DC and landing at Andrews Air force Base. Memorial Day weekend is just starting. Oh, and one other thing that the idiot sector ought to think about is the fact that tensions are high in Japan because of a marine killing a young Japanese woman there. There is a strong US military presence and of course to the Japanese the military literally gets away with murder. But the Repigs have no ability to try seeing things from another person's point of view. Obama's visit was a good thing on so many levels.

Hillary will get the nomination, as much as insecure males may find that unnerving. It eventually will be she and Trump debating in the general, unless Trump says he refuses to debate Hillary (which I see as a distinct possibility). Hillary would have an edge when they do eventually debate. Right now, there is no telling what kind of debater Trump would be. This would give Hillary's team an opportunity to review her options when they do debate. Just my take. I see it as more of a plus for Hillary than for Bernie or Trump. Both of them look pathetic.

"The sniper fire story itself is trivial. But her response to it suggested that whenever Clinton is caught out, she will simply become even more shameless, hoping that at some point people give up and stop pressing her. This dynamic is, of course, familiar to all children who have attempted to pile untruths on top of untruths in the desperate hope that a certain number of lies will eventually cancel each other out. But as every child learns, this only ever leads to further trouble and, sooner or later, you just have to come clean and admit that you’ve been dishonest.
But it’s quite clear that Clinton will never, ever do this. Even now that the State Department’s Inspector General has released a report explaining in detail why Clinton’s claims about her emails are false, she has responded by doubling down with even more implausible statements.
This does not augur well for the remainder of the campaign. It means that Hillary Clinton has what might be termed a “trust death spiral.” She begins by having the public think she is untrustworthy. Then, in response to accusations that she is untrustworthy, she says things that make her sound even more untrustworthy. Because there’s no point at which she’ll simply break free and come clean, things can only ever get worse for Hillary Clinton. If you point out that her positions have changed (making her somewhat untrustworthy), she responds by insisting that they haven’t changed (making her even more untrustworthy). If a report says she is misrepresenting the situation with her email, she will then misrepresent the report itself.
This is a problem not just because it decreases public trust; it also treats voters like they must be incredibly stupid. It’s brazenly insulting to people’s intelligence to simply deny that a report says what it says. And because people are more intelligent than that, they don’t like it when you try to pull tricks like this."

They don't realize that Bernie & Trump both have to pull their pants down and poop like every other human being on earth because they are "gods" and will "fix" everything like every politician in the history of man has. They've spent years claiming libs worship King Obama. They ain't seen nothing yet if they get their way. They will all become immediately peasants because they couldn't see their emperors wore no clothes.

"Hillary Clinton’s email headache is about to get even worse.
A scathing inspector general’s report this week was just the first in what is likely to be a series of official actions related to her private server stemming from the FBI, a federal courthouse and Capitol Hill.
Clinton’s presidential campaign has failed to quiet the furor over the issue, which has dogged her for more than a year.
In the next few weeks — just as the likely Democratic presidential nominee hopes to pivot towards a general election — it will face its toughest scrutiny yet.
“All of that feeds into this overarching problem of public distrust of her,” said Grant Reeher, a political science professor at Syracuse University.
“To put it in slang terms, she’s got a pretty deeply held street rep at this point. This fits the street rep,” he added.
The State Department’s watchdog report was especially damaging, given the official nature of its source. The report claimed that Clinton never sought approval for her “homebrew” email setup, that her use of the system violated the department’s record-keeping rules and that it would have been rejected had she brought it up to department officials."

      @4:30

      Yup.

      > Clinton authorized the server.
      > Clinton authorized or was aware of who had admin privs on the server.

It was Clinton's responsibility to ensure that proper vetting of staff took place and that they had the necessary experience, security credentials, and security clearances to admin a server with classified data.
A person with a security clearance can not disclose, share, or transfer possession of classified material or place it in the care of an individual that does not have the correct clearances.
That is codified under Title 18 sec 793 and 798.
This is Clinton's fault, not Cooper or Pagliano.
If Cooper and Pagliano were aware that classified data was being hosted, they had an ethical obligation to report it. Pagliano may have had a legal obligation to report depending on what forms he signed even though he apparently did not sign SF-312 or Form 4414.
This shit could not be more serious.

You are managing to ignore that the person in charge of security oversight was not in place at the time, 5:17 & 4:30. Are you unaware there was a vacant position at State? Are you unaware that Powell also used a private server--not just an AOL account? The OIG conclusion says that no single SOS is to blame: it vindicates HRC as one of many SOS who had e-mail issues due to their antiquated system. Read the OIG conclusion. That will definitely help re: any FBI security review. Wait and see! Remember to breathe!

Powell's server was not "private" in the same sense as Clinton's, 6:28. But you know that. You're trying to parse like Clinton.

Powell's State Dept email server was in his office. While exclusively for his use to send email outside the State Dept when the State Dept had only an internal system, the server was set up and administered by State Dept staff. Clinton's "private" server was in her basement, set up at Clinton's direction and maintained by a privately hired, paid under the table IT guy and unknown to the State Dept IT staff for more than a year.

Powell asked for a way to email outside the dept. Clinton didn't ask, just set up a homebrew system on her own.

      Delete
    11. Anonymous9:17 AM

      @8:21
      You are correct.
      And as to 6:28 stating:
"Are you unaware there was a vacant position at State?"
      Uh huh...
It's the Secretary's job to appoint an IG, which is then confirmed by Congress.
The IG's job is to prevent and detect waste, fraud, abuse and mismanagement. His/her presence at the top of the OIG is crucial in ensuring that the State Dept runs correctly.
It's very telling that Clinton refused to appoint one during her tenure, and instead allowed the OIG to run without a real leader.
There was an interim IG, Harold W. Geisel, a former ambassador. But that's actually worse, because the IG is supposed to monitor the State Dept, and therefore IGs are never chosen from former State Dept employees in order to ensure there is no conflict of interest in the duties. If Geisel was nominated, he would never be confirmed by Congress because of that.
State Dept was corrupt and incompetent because Clinton made it so.
And the FBI has ALL the emails that smug Hillary thinks were deleted.
“Like with a cloth or something?”
Little did she know Datto in Conn. stored EVERTHING.
      http://www.mcclatchydc.com/news/nation-world/national/article37968711.html
Those FBI agents are going over ALL of the emails.
Especially the ones between Clinton Foundation and the State Dept.

In twenty years in Congress, Bernie Sanders has accomplished little more than nothing on his own. A few post office names and an unnecessary military jet boondoggle are all he brought to Vermont. And even less to the country. Had he been a Democrat all along, then he would have been partner to any progressive legislation that has been passed in the last twenty years and he would have had a real role in Congressional committee work. Nope. Bernie Sanders is too good to be a member of one of the major political parties; he wanted to be the "lone wolf," an independent, a better-than-everyone else. He joined the Democratic Party to cause mayhem, to prevent Hillary Clinton or any other Democrat from winning the nomination and the election. He did not join to "fix" anything.

Sanders Supporters to File Injunction Against Calif. Primary, City Attorney Says

Attorneys representing a group of Bernie Sanders supporters informed San Francisco City Attorney Dennis Herrera Thursday night that they plan to file an "emergency request" with U.S. District Court Judge William Alsup in the city today "for a preliminary injunction" in California's June 7 presidential primary," Herrera's office said.

"I think it's unfortunate -- and selfish, frankly -- that these plaintiffs would inject confusion and uncertainty into an election that has been underway for weeks," Herrera said in a statement Thursday night. "San Francisco's Department of Elections and its employees have been doing an exemplary job, and I'm equally confident that our co-defendants are also meeting or exceeding their legal duties. This lawsuit is without merit, and there is no basis for an emergency injunction. I intend to fight it aggressively."
