Coming out of the gate Hillary leads the Donald by double digits.

Courtesy of CNN:

As Donald Trump captures the mantle of presumptive Republican nominee, a new poll finds he begins his general election campaign well behind Democratic front-runner Hillary Clinton.

The new CNN/ORC Poll, completed ahead of Trump's victory last night, found Clinton leads 54% to 41%, a 13-point edge over the New York businessman, her largest lead since last July.

Clinton is also more trusted than Trump on many issues voters rank as critically important, with one big exception. By a 50% to 45% margin, voters say Trump would do a better job handling the economy than Clinton would.

There is literally NO evidence to support the idea that Trump would be better on the economy than Clinton.

After all the man has gone bankrupt multiple times and Republicans are notoriously bad when it comes to dealing with the economy.

On the other hand the name Clinton is synonymous with strong economic growth.

I have no idea how these numbers might change in the run up to the election.

What I do know is that Donald Trump is as unconventional as they come and he will not hesitate to throw literally EVERYTHING he can find at Hillary.

I have seen a lot of ugly in my life, but I have a feeling we are about to experience a whole new level.

However having said that this is what state polls are showing right now.
P.S. By the way some troll earlier said that MSNBC, Five Thirty Eight, and myself were all wrong about Hillary's chances in Indiana.

Five Thirty Eight begs to differ.

As for myself I did not make any predictions beyond the fact that the delegates would be pretty evenly split. Which they were.

You heard of the Reagan Democrats. Are we going to have the Clinton Republicans? I sure hope so.

  2. We can't let up the pressure on the Donald. Double digits can evaporate. Don't let down your guard. What Trump did to Cruz and Rubio, he will try on Hillary. However, she isn't as easily traumatized like Cruz but he is a pushy New Yorker and he won't stop.

    1. You are so right. I never thought he'd do in Jeb!, and so quickly. Initially I figured Jeb! was pretty much a shoo-in, considering his name & the big GOP names & huge money backers behind him. But Trump zeroed in on whatever Jeb! vulnerabilities had. IMHO, I never thought Jeb! was into running, he was just going through the motions. I'd watch him and wonder what was so wrong that it zapped his enthusiasm. Anyway, you are so right, we don't know what Trump is capable of. Think about it, he's had decades of ruthlessness. It won't matter to him if he hurts people or our nation along the way. He wants to win at any or all costs. That is frightening.

I have a feeling the best is yet to come. Trump has no substance; he is incapable of it. A spotlight is about to be focused on him, and it will not be pretty. Why doesn't someone talk about his dyslexia for starters?

"EXCLUSIVE: The infamous Romanian hacker known as “Guccifer,” speaking exclusively with Fox News, claimed he easily – and repeatedly – breached former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s personal email server in early 2013.

"For me, it was easy ... easy for me, for everybody," Marcel Lehel Lazar, who goes by the moniker "Guccifer," told Fox News from a Virginia jail where he is being held."
Keep in mind this is the man that the FBI drug half way around the world to question.

He was brought all the way from Europe in handcuffs by the FBI to give statements.
      Also this today:
"WASHINGTON — A federal judge said Wednesday he may order Democratic presidential front-runner Hillary Clinton to testify under oath about whether she used a private email server as secretary of state to evade public records disclosures.

U.S. District Court Judge Emmet G. Sullivan signed an order granting a request from the conservative legal advocacy group Judicial Watch to question six current and former State Department staffers about the creation and purpose of the private email system. Those on the list were some of Clinton's closest aides during her tenure as the nation's top diplomat, including former chief of staff Cheryl D. Mills, deputy chief of staff Huma Abedin and undersecretary Patrick F. Kennedy.

Also set to testify is Bryan Pagliano, the agency employee who was tasked with setting up the clintonemail.com server located in the basement of the New York home Clinton shares with her husband, former President Bill Clinton. Pagliano has previously refused to testify before Congress, citing his Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination."

    4. I can answer that question: she wasn't hiding email for nepharious reasons, she did it because she and Bill have been under constant scrutiny and constant demonizing from the RW. Their demonization all these years has permeated as factual instead of the lies, misinformation, vicious cruelty that it was. I remember the the 90s very, very well. You can't blame anyone who goes into self-preservation mode. For her to be willing to still be out there proves that she is one mighty strong woman. I hate to admit this, but if it had been me enduring this constant bullshit, I would have crumbled sometime in 1993.

Why would this hurt Hillary? She did not set up the server; she's not an IT expert. There is no "deliberate intent" to jeopardize security. http://prospect.org/article/why-hillary-wont-be-indicted-and-shouldnt-be-objective-legal-analysis

4:23 You should be hoping the FBI concludes they weren't trying to hide anything, not that they were justified to hide information.

If Clinton and her staff used private email accounts for State Dept business with the intention of keeping their State Dept-related emails from being preserved in the State Dept record - hiding them as you say - then they violated the federal record keeping regulation that requires all email to be part of the agency record. That's in addition to the question of whether any of the emails contained classified information.

Here's what I know: President Clinton, Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton, and President Barack Obama all have Ivy-League law degrees. I'll stick by their collective assessments of the situation, which, so far, is that it will amount to a nothingburger.

    8. Anonymous5:45 AM

Oh 7:26, surely you're not claiming that you can conclude someone hasn't broken the law because they have an Ivy League law degree. Or that people with Ivy League law degrees don't violate the law.

By the way, Obama's never said there's nothing. He's said it was "Dumb, dumb, dumb." He's said he doesn't believe Clinton would intentionally violate federal law. So what. You aren't exonerated for breaking the law for lack of intent. It might reduce the charges or mitigate the sentence, but lack of intent doesn't exonerate you from prosecution. Obama didn't really help Clinton very much by saying he was certain there was no nefarious intent.

This Romanian blogger sounds like a real winner.

"After that, he supposedly looked for open ports to exploit. He didn't offer any more detail. There are quite a few more technical steps needed to get access to a private server, as opposed to his past hacks of common email services like AOL and Yahoo.

As the New York Times has noted, Guccifer is no computer expert, operating on a cheap laptop and a cellphone and using tools readily available on the web. Many of his "hacks" were the result of social engineering skill and months of guessing security questions until he got in.

"He was not really a hacker but just a smart guy who was very patient and persistent," Viorel Badea, the Romanian prosecutor who directed the case against him, told The Times."

Note: NOT EVEN A REAL HACKER. So not worried.

No. There's no evidence he did. Read below.

"When pressed by NBC News, Lazar, 44, could provide no documentation to back up his claims, nor did he ever release anything on-line supporting his allegations, as he had frequently done with past hacks. The FBI's review of the Clinton server logs showed no sign of hacking, according to a source familiar with the case.

Brian Fallon, national press secretary for Clinton's presidential campaign, said Guccifer's claims were baseless.

"There is absolutely no basis to believe the claims made by this criminal from his prison cell," said Fallon. "In addition to the fact that he offers no proof to support his claims, his descriptions of Secretary Clinton's server are inaccurate. It is unfathomable that he would have gained access to her emails and not leaked them the way he did to his other victims."

      Delete
    8. Anonymous5:51 AM

9:14, it can't be reasonably concluded there's no evidence Lazar hacked Clinton's server based on statements by an anonymous source or Clinton's own press secretary. What do you think he's going to say?

8:23, he doesn't just "guess passwords". He got the IP addresses from the headers of emails then used an IP scanner to search for open communication sockets into the server.

By the way, "he wasn't even a very skilled hacker" makes it worse for Clinton if he really did access their server.

You've confused fivethirtyeight's delegate target chart with their prediction of primary result.

Fivethirtyeight forecast 95% chance of Clinton winning Indiana. They were wrong.

The delegate target isn't a prediction of how many delegates a candidate is going to win, it's an estimate of how many delegates a candidate needs to win in each primary to stay on track to win the nomination.

They weren't "wrong." Sanders had a 5% chance of winning based on polls. He won.

    2. Anonymous4:57 PM

Polls don't predict the probability of a candidate winning. They simply report responses of people polled. Fivethirtyeight predicted Sanders had a 5% chance of winning based on their statistical algorithm that uses state and national polls, weighted by a fivethirtyeight rating of the company doing the polling plus a factor for number of endorsements. Their model was wrong. The fundamental problem with Nate and his forecasts is they're dependent on the polls being accurate. Nate hasn't developed a way to recognize when the polls are fubar like they were in Indiana so his forecast was fubar too.

538 revised that prediction yesterday afternoon to give Bernie the win by 7 points based on Indiana's extreme whiteness. Check the bottom of the live blog coverage.

Their claim to fame is their proprietary polls-only and polls-plus forecasts. Nate is a slimy character.

      http://thedailybanter.com/2016/05/andrew-sullivan-returns-to-warn-america-of-donald-trumps-threat-to-all-human-life/

      Plato saw Trump coming.

"The longer a democracy lasted, Plato argued, the more democratic it would become. Its freedoms would multiply; its equality spread. Deference to any sort of authority would wither; tolerance of any kind of inequality would come under intense threat; and multiculturalism and sexual freedom would create a city or a country like “a many-colored cloak decorated in all hues.”...... when everyone is equal; when elites are despised and full license is established to do “whatever one wants,” you arrive at what might be called late-stage democracy. There is no kowtowing to authority here, let alone to political experience or expertise...."

A perceptive, insightful look at Trump's poised sway over easily-manipulated Americans and threat he poses to the world.

"This monster, a pervasive archetype throughout human history is with us again, and this time he is vying for access to the largest stockpile of thermonuclear weapons on the planet...and has pledged to discriminate against immigrants and religious minorities. To not see this as a severe threat to the future survival of our species would be a grave, grave mistake argues Sullivan, and elites of all political affiliation are now tasked with stopping him:

"For Trump is not just a wacky politician of the far right, or a riveting television spectacle, or a Twitter phenom and bizarre working-class hero. He is not just another candidate to be parsed and analyzed by TV pundits in the same breath as all the others. In terms of our liberal democracy and constitutional order, Trump is an extinction-level event. It’s long past time we started treating him as such."

Bernie Sanders is fighting a one front war, Secretary Clinton.

Secretary Clinton has to wear kid gloves against Sanders so she doesn't alienate his voters while Sanders is very desperate and wear no gloves and is known for not telling the whole truth.

I don't know what Secretary Hillary Clinton's plans are in the upcoming primaries but I feel that if Secretary Clinton is concentrating on Donald Trump and loses states to the Socialist, he will use his wins as a reason to try to change the Super Delegates minds.

The truth is far from the Bernie Bro rhetoric. Bernie is far, far behind and Hillary would need to spend no money in any state to get the 166 delegates she needs to sew up the nomination in one round of voting.
Hillary needs to and seems to be planing for November and not June. Bernie and Baby Jane can spend what they want because they know there is no mathematical way to win.
Bernie is an ass and Hillary is above the low life and looking forward as she should.

The Wall Street Journal attempted to contact all 22 veterans groups that were promised funds, and spoke with many of them multiple times and on Thursday with representatives from more than half to check on the status of payments. Many of the groups said they were contacted for a brief vetting before the event, asked about their overhead costs, but never told they would get money.

Three groups confirmed they had received checks; most others reached said they hadn’t heard back from the Trump organization about the donations. A few groups said their phone calls and messages to the Trump campaign have gone unanswered.

This is absurd. Many of these groups operate on a shoestring budget. $100,000 for them could be a lot of money and it looks like the Trump operation is at best, ridiculously incompetent. An expert has said that at the very least, a letter should have gone out to the organizations, letting them know how much money they'd receive and a timetable for when they should expect it. Trump hasn't even done that.

To avoid a real political catastrophe, I suspect that due to pressure, all of these groups will get the money promised to them. But it illustrates pretty much how Donald Trump does these things mostly for his benefit, and not for anybody else.

After winning Indiana, Bernie Sanders has a worse chance of securing nomination

It might seem counterintuitive, but the chances of Bernie Sanders winning the Democratic nomination actually got worse after the Vermont senator won the Indiana primary on Tuesday night.

Judicial Watch states that its mission is to use the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) and other tools to investigate misconduct by government officials and litigation to hold to account politicians and public officials who engage in corrupt activities." - They've been after the Clintons since the 1990s.

      @6:49.

"They've been after the Clintons since the 1990s."

If they've been after them that long and STILL can't get anything on them, don't you think they might be just like Congress? Too stupid to know when to quit? Or to realize they won't find anything after this long?

Who is going to run Trumps "empire" if he i s President? Does he think being President is just a title and a part time job?

We all know Trump hires others to run his business's . That cant play if you are the President. That is a real fear no one talks about, can he seperate his own gain from what is good for America.

Bring up that conflict Mrs. Clinton, it's time to get real.

Bernie why are you still in the race?

Because his wife told him to.

Baby Jane already said she wishes the FBI would hurry up investigating Hillary.

That's her only chance of becoming the First Lady

Or Clinton could be assassinated. That was a reason Clinton gave for why she was staying in the 2008 primary when the "math" was overwhelming against her: Obama might get assassinated before the convention.

  26. Polls be damned.

Dems need to donate to Hillary and turn out to vote for her. Take nothing for granted. I wrongly assumed that Trump's candidacy was a joke. In reality, it's a nightmare, for which no pundits have an explanation.

Pray that the nation does not descend from the sublime Obama to the ridiculous Trump. Pray, donate, blog, demonstrate for Hillary.

  27. I have to say, hearing that even something like FORTY FREAKING PER CENT of Americans are rooting for a selfish, uncouth, completely inexperienced billionaire to be their leader, is frightening, and quite sad.

The naivety of the belief that he will completely change his style, and suddenly want to work hard for the benefit of other, "loser" types, is astounding.

No one, even what we hoped were the "better reporters" ever bothers to ask him just HOW he will make the nation "great."

Its as meaningless as Tide claiming their soap gets clothes 20% whiter.

Are Americans as dumb as comedians say they are? Why are so many falling for such a transparent campaign of promises that cannot be fulfilled?

It's interesting that Cynthia McFadden of NBC News interviewed Lazar in Romania before he was sent to the US and NBC sat on the story until after FoxNews published the story of their more recent interview with him in the US. They were willing to sit on it until another outlet had the same story.

Statements by Clinton's press secretary that there's no basis to believe Lazar and that the Clinton camp has gotten no "indication" from a government agency (yet) that supports Lazars claims don't make Lazar's claims untrue. You don't really think the FBI is going to call and tell Clinton what evidence they have as they go along. Their claims that the FBI hasn't contacted Clinton for an interview (yet) don't mean anything either.

CNN is very kind to Hillary, all the other polls have her at +2, +5, + 3 where as these same polls have have Bernie at + 10, + 14 + 15, +18 vs Trump , But don't expect Gryph to show any Democratic morality and report the whole truth ? As a long time reader here I am really disappointed : (

  30. According to RealClearPolitics Bernie Sanders also leads Dullard Drumpf in double digits.

I have a feeling Mickey Mouse would lead Dullard Drumpf in double digits.

The GOP knows they are stuck with Drumpf and that he is a sure loser who may well kill their party. And there is nothing they can do about it.

Some are being team players and supporting him (but probably not much more than lip service). Some are standing up for what they believe and refusing to support him. I suspect a great many are just keeping their mouths shut to either stay home on election day or quietly vote for whoever the opponent is just to keep Drumpf out of the White House.

No, we should not be apathetic. We should not assume this is a cakewalk and Drumpf will lose. What needs to happen is for him to lose in the biggest, baddest, most suffocating slap upside the head landslide in the history of this country.
