I anybody else watching GOT and making this connection?

When the High Sparrow was first introduced last season I did not make anything of it, but now when I watch him onscreen I keep imagining his lines delivered in Sanders' voice.

And as the High Sparrow becomes ever more drunk with power, and outwardly arrogant that his cause it just, the comparison just becomes unshakeable for me.

Apparently I am not alone in that.

Yeah. Kinda like that loud angry bluster coming from that HUGE BIG trumpet. Or that sweet voice and sound of more hope. Rob Reiner explained his position yesterday. He was correct.

When will fake reality freaks get real? Why do folks need to watch reality shows? It is fake and not reality. It is staged. Kinda like our current political elections.

I do not watch "Game of Thrones" but I did read the linked piece above. I do not think that Hillary Clinton is a "scary" choice for president. Assuming that a woman running for the presidency is "scary" is pure gender bias. Personally I am scared by the thought of Donald Trump in the White House and by the thought of any GOP candidate (male or female) winning any election. And I am very, very scared by the Koch brothers.

Ahh pulling the woman card again... Anyone who won't vote Hillary is obviously a sexist right? You are a joke.

It has nothing to do with her vagina, she really hasn't been a woman for the last 20 years anyways. It is because she is a huge fake, lying, pandering, piece of crapola! Get it?

Really testy today, Anon at 8:23 am. I don't care if you support or don't support Hillary Clinton, but she's not a "scary" prospect. You may disagree with the positions she's taken on issues, fine. But calling her a "huge fake, lying, pandering, piece of crapola" is very over the top and shows that you've missed my point entirely.

"And I am very, very scared by the Koch brothers."

As am I. Although I think my fear was marginally more palpable during the last midterm elections when they and their money seemed to be everywhere. The Rise of Trump seems to have dulled their influence ever so slightly.

Unfortunately, where they always seem to be the most powerful is in the state and Congressional races. This year, however, if we're lucky, having Trump as the GOP candidate may affect down ballot races and help Democrats regain one or both houses of Congress and maybe even some governorships.

Nope. I don't get it. Bernie is real. thrones is tv, Get it? Are we gonna talk about trump staging the take over? How did he do it? Well he spent a lot of money buying operatives to stage. He paid extortionist to commit crimes against innocent. He tapped hate. He is backed by the silent stinky farts of our world. He is the face of zit united. The corporation candidate, Trojan elephant, and the takeover vote, bought and paid for fair and square. Right? ok. sure. rich in pocket but poor in soul. When ya have to buy? It aint real. Reality TV is garbage.

The High Sparrow might sound like Bernie (who seems to be believing his own press lately), but Pryce *looks* remarkably like Pope Francis.

I read a LOT of info re: GoT. Pryce was recently quoted that almost immediately after Pope Frank was elected, he got a call from his agent. Apparently, an Argentinian company wants to make a movie about the pontiff & wants Pryce for the role. They do look very much alike. Other cast members have managed to make time for feature films during their off-season, so this is a distinct possibility.

Bernie Sanders has a critical choice in the future of his legacy. Hope he takes the high road and displays himself as a an of good character.

Barney has never had good character, at least not since he chose to stay unemployed for 17 yrs to avoid supporting his own child. Any good character you think he has is an illusion at best.

Am a semifan of Game of Thrones. And it does remind me of the political world. But the writer of coarse knows this right? He knows human nature. Even when Ramsey Bolton feeds his stepmother and brother to the dogs, the writer knows how far people will go for power. Even though it's a reality show bordering on distasteful at times, funny thing is we actually have historical and current characters like these shown on Thrones. Life imitates art. Or is it the other way around?

  9. Isn't the High Sparrow a religious zealot?

I would think Ted Cruz would be a better comparison. Or even Rick Santorum.
