Kansas Christian school retains the right to expel a student if ANY of their family members are gay.

Courtesy of the Independent:

A Christian school in Kansas is at the centre of mounting controversy after it emerged that it reserved the right to expel students if any of their family members were gay or transgender.

A so-called Statement of Understanding sent to parents who wish to send their children to the private school located in Wichita, requires them to agree that a student who attends can he asked to leave if their home life promotes anything “counter to the school’s understanding of a biblical lifestyle”. All pupils and parents are required to sign the document.

“Given the debate and confusion in our society about marriage and human sexuality it is vital that Trinity families agree with and support the school’s traditional, Christian understanding of those issues,” says the document.

“Therefore, when the atmosphere or conduct within a particular home is counter to the school’s understanding of a biblical lifestyle, including the practice or promotion of the LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender) lifestyle or alternative gender identity, the school should have the right, in its sole discretion, to deny the admission of an applicant or discontinue enrollment of a current student.”

Man you really have to hand it to religious fundamentalists, when it comes to deep dark nasty discrimination they have no equal.

Now see to a freethinker like myself the very idea that some school would reject me because they held a prejudice opinion of some member of my family would get their name scratched off my educational wish list so fast I would probably snap my number two pencil in half doing it.

But then again I did not spend my formative years being indoctrinated into a primitive superstitious cult that would make me ignorant enough to even consider attending a school like Trinity Academy.

    What's the matter with Kansas?

A "biblical lifestyle" leaves the door open for a lot of different, self-serving interpretations!

Really?? So what if the student has a gay Uncle, or a 2nd cousin who is a pagan?

What degree of separation is enough to get you kicked out of the white, gun loving, christian, male, patriarchal school of mythology indoctrination?

Sure... other than the chopping off heads, mass killings, blowing up planes, setting people on fire, throwing people off buildings, stoning, rape, blowing up buses, blowing up subways, mowing down people in shopping malls and resorts, flying planes into buildings, and so forth, all modern day in the name of Islam.

These people probably would disagree with your statement... guessing they would prefer to be guests of fundi Christians over Abu Sayyaf..

Ever heard of Christian Magdalene laundries? How about the catholic priests who made pedophilia part of a religious institution.

The Magdalene Laundries in Ireland, also known as Magdalene asylums, were institutions, generally run by Roman Catholics, that operated from the 18th to the late 20th centuries. They were run ostensibly to house "fallen women". An estimated 30,000 women were confined in these institutions in Ireland. In 1993, a mass grave containing 155 corpses was uncovered in the convent grounds of one of the laundries.[1] This led to media revelations about the operations of the secretive institutions. A formal state apology was issued in 2013, and a £50 million compensation scheme for survivors was set up, to which the Catholic Church has refused to contribute.[2]

      Yeah that is great 66gardeners.....

Archaic Asylum Institutions. You can pretty much look at all the old school asylums, religious affiliated or not, and find disastrous conditions.

Relevance to modern day terrorism? Lol, Oh that is right, zero.

What terrorist acts is the modern day Roman Catholic church performing similar to ISIS, Taliban, Al Qaeda, and all the Islamic affiliates?

      Please do tell.

You should be taking your own advice 4:01.

Remind me how many propaganda videos the Roman Catholic church made this year of blowing up people with landmines, how many people it videotaped being burned to death in a cage, how many people it videotaped being beheaded, how many people it videotaped being thrown off buildings.... How many mass executions did the the Roman Catholic church carry out? How many schoolgirls have been kidnapped from their schools by the Roman Catholic church for barter and rape?

      Well, were waiting?

I didn't blow the document up, but do they consider a mixed marriage (say, a Jew and a Christian, or a black and a white, or a Chinese woman and a white male, or whatever make sup our wonderful culture) non-Biblical too? And would they appreciate the Mormon with three wives-that is certainly Biblical. Not to mention the guy who stones his wife for looking at another man. Or sacrifices his daughter to an elderly man who is already married. Oh, the stupidity of these people is right up there with the Trump supporters.

"The group also criticized the major league team over a dispute leading up to the game, saying the Padres INSISTED that members of the chorus pay for tickets to the game despite asking them to provide entertainment."

According to the group, the Padres only relented after San Diego Pride became involved."

I would expect performers to get paid, not to have to pay admission. By including the word "Gay" in their name, they are making a statement. Perhaps this insult will result in some changes. (Why am I thinking about Marian Anderson singing at the Lincoln Memorial?)

    I wonder if ". . . the school’s understanding of a biblical lifestyle” includes:

-- multiple wives and concubines -- you know, same as the "Old Testament patriarchs;"

-- not allowing women who are menstruating to enter the temple (Deuteronomy)

-- not wearing clothing made of two types of material (more Deuteronomy)

-- stoning to death anyone found in adultery

-- requiring a widow to marry her dead husband's brother

    Of course, this IS Kansas.

Could someone explain to me the difference between these people and ISIS??

I have heard that at least 15%-20% (or more)of the entire population is probably one of these (LGBT). That being the case, it is most likely that any and/or all of the 'do-gooders' from this school have someone like this, somewhere in their own families -- or they themselves could be one, and hiding in, or behind their religion keeping their secrets safe?

(IMO), I can not even imagine any parent who would want their children to attend this school at all¿

I guess I'd sit these folks down and ask them, "where the hell do you think you are, man? This is America! You can be whatever the fuck you WANT to be. You can believe anything you WANT to believe. You need to read the Constitution."
    sheesh
"See that building over there? That's a school. That's where we teach the young'uns stuff we KNOW. 2 plus 2 equals four. EVERY time. For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. The Earth is round(ish) and four and a half billion years old and orbits the sun along with Mercury, Venus, Mars, the asteroid belt, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus (tee hee), Neptune and yes, Pluto. And the whole solar system exists in an outer spiral arm in a galaxy we call the Milky Way.

"And over there is another building. That's a CHURCH. That's where we tell the youngsters about stuff we believe but that we can't prove. Like, once upon a time there was a magic guy that could walk on water and raise the dead. And there used to be unicorns and cockatrices and Leviathan and giants and shit. And there was a man and a woman in a garden with a talking snake and that's why women have menstrual cycles. And you have to give The Church ten percent of everything you earn your entire life because we know what happens after you die."

    again - sheesh.

I think this is a Missouri Synod Lutheran Church, which claims to believe in a literal interpretation of the Bible. Do not confuse them with the liberal Evangelical Lutheran Church (ELC), which, in spite of having Evangelical in its name, is an open affirming church.

BTW, this sort of religious discrinination is legal in church-run organizations unless they take federal money. Now think of this writ large, by the "religious freedom" laws passed in several states. Could you be denied a wedding cake because someone in your family is gay? Not impossible.

In the Christian religion, all people are sinners. Jesus taught "He who is without sin should toss the first stone". There are other sins than "practicing the LGBT lifestyle"--but none of them warrant a bullet point. This just clearly demonstrates their out-sized obsession with other people's sex lives.

There's no big sin or little sin, there's just sin.

Isn't gambling a sin? Would they throw out an entire family if one of them bought a Powerball ticket? It's doesn't cross their minds at all because it doesn't involve people having orgasms. Hypocrites.

  21. Such a policy is akin to two guys going to a movie theater and putting an empty seat between them. It boldly announces 'we are not gay.' You can almost take bets on how quickly this policy will fall apart. Most likely it will begin with the administration.

I can't even be surprised. It's typical behavior of the fundles. They have a major stick up their ass and there's nothing we can do to remove it. First it was cake now this. Be prepared for more dumb shit that they will be against. They are living in their own little bubble. Nothing can be done about that too because this is a free country and we are allowed to believe and do as we believe. That's the beauty of America. Just gotta watch these types and make sure they just keep to their own compound and not get too much into our business. Then we are good.

Kansas gave us the yellow brick road, ruby slippers, cowardly lion, tin man, Dorothy and most of all the magic ruby sequined slippers, and now THIS suddenly "offends" them? If their God created all people in his image, are LGBT folks not people as well? deserving of respect, love and humanity from all of their peers in God's image??
