NRA endorses Donald Trump. And now the battle lines are drawn.

Courtesy of CNN:

Donald Trump on Friday told the National Rifle Association that Hillary Clinton would take away the right to bear arms, moments after the gun group endorsed the presumptive GOP nominee at its annual meeting here.

Calling the endorsement a "fantastic honor," Trump dove right into attacking Clinton, saying the Democratic presidential front-runner "wants to abolish the Second Amendment."

"We're not going to let that happen," Trump said. "We're going to preserve it, we're going to cherish it."

Of course much like President Obama Hillary has no intention of abolishing the 2nd Amendment or taking away anyone's guns.

However that is not to say that she is not prepared to go toe to toe with Trump over the issue of better gun control legislation.
Courtesy of the New York Times:

Whereas President Obama soft-pedaled gun control in both his national runs, Hillary Clinton, the likely Democratic nominee, is signaling a greater appetite to clash with Mr. Trump on the issue.

In a Twitter message last week, Mrs. Clinton said that Mr. Trump, the presumptive Republican nominee, would force schools “to allow guns in classrooms on his first day in office.”

“This issue is at a tipping point,” said Dan Gross, the president of the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence, citing Mrs. Clinton’s politically effective framing of gun issues that put Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont on the defensive in the Democratic primary campaign. “You’re going to hear about it as differentiator for the first time in decades” in the general election, Mr. Gross said.

Of  course Donald Trump's response to Clinton's stance on gun control is very....you know Donald Trump.

So there you have it kids, gun control is going to be a central issue of this campaign.

Of course I think we all knew that the NRA was going to gin up the same conspiracy theories against Hillary that they used against President Obama that so dramatically drove up gun sales during his two terms.

The difference this time is that Hillary knew what was coming and decided to draw first blood.

That takes political courage, and indicates that she is well aware that America is sick and tired of all of these unnecessary gun deaths, and is counting on the fact that they will have her back in the election.

Trump said he has a concealed weapon permit and someone would sure be surprised if they tried to harm him. Anyone remember how he looked hanging onto the podium at a rally recently when a guy jumped the barrier. It actually was comical!

"I will get rid of gun-free zones on schools, and — you have to — and on military bases," Trump said, to scattered cheers during a campaign rally on Thursday night. "My first day, it gets signed, okay? My first day. There's no more gun-free zones."

Trump's campaign manager and press secretary did not respond to requests for clarification.

The media needs to question Trump about making gun legal at the GOP convention in Cleveland.

At the outset of the general election, Hillary Clinton’s campaign looks like a well-oiled juggernaut next to Donald Trump’s vastly smaller, self-funded operation, a POLITICO analysis of Federal Election Commission reports filed Friday found.

Clinton’s campaign appeared to be preparing for the general election, spending far less than Sanders, whose $207 million in total spending marks him as the cycle’s biggest spender. He continued spending briskly in April, dropping $38.6 million, as compared to $23.9 million for Clinton. Sanders spent almost twice as much as Clinton on media and payroll (despite a slightly smaller staff), as well as more on online advertising and direct mail. (Bernie is all about the $$$. It's the message dummy).

I'm really getting the feeling that Hillary, like Obama, is playing chess here, while Bernie and Herr Trumpf are playing tiddly winks. She is one very intelligent woman,. who has had four years to observe, learn, reflect, and plan for the next few months. She surrounds herself with other smart people, instead of 'family' like Sanders, and yes men like Trumpf. Once this primary stuff is over, she is going not he attack, and Trumpf will not know what hit him. We already see how effective Liz has been against his taunts. While Trump certainly has a VERY long list of faults, one of the most challenging in terms of running his campaign is how easily he is rattled.

I agree that Hillary and her team have no doubt learned a lot in the last 8 years. I'm sure her staff has been keeping meticulous records of exactly what sets Donnie off into one of his tantrums.

Like an annoying sibling, she will be able to easily push all the right buttons to make him look incompetent, volatile, racist and misogynist. Granted, it doesn't take much to make Trump look bad, but this campaign will make it an art form while still maintaining a respectable level of dignity.

"What is Bernie thinking? For starters, he’s exercising a long-standing privilege among losers to remain as long as they like in the race, just so that they can flex muscle at the convention. In the 1980 primary between Ted Kennedy and incumbent president Jimmy Carter, Kennedy only picked up momentum in the latter half of the contest – scooping last-minute victories in states like New Jersey and California. He stood no change of winning the nomination, but the threat of open rebellion compelled Carter to pivot more towards the Left and Kennedy was allowed to rewrite the party’s economic platform. Carter won the nomination, Kennedy won the convention. The party’s elite created the superdelegate system with the intention of stopping this from happening again.
Sanders is arguably doing even better than Kennedy did, and his supporters give good reasons why he should stay in. First, the race hasn’t been fair. So why should he suddenly be charitable now? The debate schedule, say his activists, has been fixed to reduce scrutiny of Clinton’s record. Clinton partisans dominate convention committees. And, most shameless of all, Democratic state parties are charged with "laundering" money for the Clinton campaign. The DNC wanted Hillary from the very beginning.
Second, polling suggests Sanders would actually make a stronger nominee. He beats Trump in match-ups, whereas Hillary appears to be sliding. Hillary has negative ratings almost as poor as The Donald – whereas Bernie seems widely admired.
Clinton has been forced to offer definitive positions on issues that she would probably have preferred to remain vague on. Just recently she suggested that she wanted to give people the option to buy into Medicare – which is essentially Sanders’ solution to the healthcare cost crisis. One could argue that Sanders has won these primaries without winning them by forcing a notoriously chameleonic politician to commit to his agenda."

Holy shit, she is so cheating!

In the days before Hillary Clinton launched an unprecedented big-money fundraising vehicle with state parties last summer, she vowed “to rebuild our party from the ground up,” proclaiming “when our state parties are strong, we win. That’s what will happen."

But less than 1 percent of the $61 million raised by that effort has stayed in the state parties’ coffers, according to a POLITICO analysis of the latest Federal Election Commission filings.

The venture, the Hillary Victory Fund, is a so-called joint fundraising committee comprised of Clinton’s presidential campaign, the Democratic National Committee and 32 state party committees. The setup allows Clinton to solicit checks of $350,000 or more from her super-rich supporters at extravagant fundraisers including a dinner at George Clooney’s house and a concert at Radio City Music Hall featuring Katy Perry and Elton John.

The victory fund has transferred $3.8 million to the state parties, but almost all of that cash ($3.3 million, or 88 percent) was quickly transferred to the DNC, usually within a day or two, by the Clinton staffer who controls the committee, POLITICO’s analysis of the FEC records found.

CNN Panelists Laugh In Trump Advisor’s Face After He Says THIS About Hillary (VIDEO)

One of Donald Trump’s advisors thought he was going on CNN to smear Democratic frontrunner Hillary Clinton, but instead he was embarrassed on national television for spewing more of Trump’s lies.

On Friday afternoon, Trump had spoken at an event for the National Rifle Association, where he attacked Clinton’s positions on guns so that the right-wing organization would endorse him. Later that day, Trump advisor Stephen Miller echoed Trump’s words on CNN, only to be met with hysterical laughter.

With more guns comes more suicide, study finds

Gun violence is an ongoing issue in the United States and one that gets put under the microscope every time a mass shooting occurs, which is all too often. Although homicide rates tend to be the focus of anti-gun rhetoric, guns are used even more frequently in suicides. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported 21,175 firearm suicides in 2013 compared to 11,208 firearm homicides.

Researchers from the Boston University School of Public Health have finished a study comparing the link between gun ownership and suicide rates across the U.S. Their findings show that states with higher rates of gun ownership also have higher rates of gun-related suicides.

I guess Trump University does not offer a class in HOW THE GOVERNMENT WORKS, Too bad.

Someone needs to send little Donnie a grade school government book.

Just what we need is a president that is so ignorant he doesn't know how the government he is suppose to be the head of works.

That California Debate That Fox News And Bernie Sanders Want Probably Isn’t Happening

...Fox News was pushing hard to host the debate because they would have liked nothing more than to generate questions about Clinton’s emails and Benghazi, but there is a reason why it has been a decade plus since Fox hosted a Democratic debate. Sen. Sanders wants the debate because it would have provided his cash-strapped campaign with tons of free national media and an avenue to directly appeal to California’s voters, but it would have been out of character for Clinton to agree to this debate.

Hillary Clinton has moved on to planning for the general election, and there is no indication that she will take a step back into the primary and debate Bernie Sanders on Fox News in California.

The two gun-zones, carry concealed and open, are to be celebrated as the floodgates pour forth with enthusiasts.

Republicans everywhere are looking forward to their guns at the convention when Trump is crowned.

NRA facing internal backlash over Trump endorsement

The early endorsement was a push for GOP unity. But not all NRA members are eager to fall in line.

With its last-minute decision to formally endorse Donald Trump, the National Rifle Association put itself out in front of the fight for Republican party unity.

Just a day later, it’s already taking heavy flak.

Chris Cox, the NRA’s top strategist, was met with raucous applause when he announced to the estimated 80,000 people gathered here for the group’s annual leadership forum on Friday that the nation’s biggest and most influential gun-rights organization was officially backing the presumptive Republican nominee. To endorse so early in the process is virtually unprecedented for the group; they didn’t get behind Mitt Romney in 2012 and Sen. John McCain in 2008 until October.

“If your preferred candidate dropped out of the race, it’s time to get over it,” Cox said.

But not everyone is there yet.

The Dangerous Acceptance of Donald Trump

“Vice is a monster of so frightful mien, / As, to be hated, needs but to be seen,” the poet Alexander Pope wrote, in lines that were once, as they said back in the day, imprinted on the mind of every schoolboy. Pope continued, “Yet seen too oft, familiar with her face, / we first endure, then pity, then embrace.” The three-part process by which the gross becomes the taken for granted has been on matchlessly grim view this past week in the ascent of Donald Trump. First merely endured by those in the Republican Party, with pained grimaces and faint bleats of reluctance, bare toleration passed quickly over into blind, partisan allegiance—he’s going to be the nominee, after all, and so is our boy. Then a weird kind of pity arose, directed not so much at him (he supplies his own self-pity) as at his supporters, on the premise that their existence somehow makes him a champion for the dispossessed, although the evidence indicates that his followers are mostly stirred by familiar racial and cultural resentments, of which Trump has been a single-minded spokesperson.

Now for the embrace. One by one, people who had not merely resisted him before but called him by his proper name—who, until a month ago, were determined to oppose a man they rightly described as a con artist and a pathological liar—are suddenly getting on board. Columnists and magazines that a month ago were saying #NeverTrump are now vibrating with the frisson of his audacity, fawning over him or at least thrilling to his rising poll numbers and telling one another, “We can control him.’

    No, you can’t.

Key G.O.P. Donors Still Deeply Resist Donald Trump’s Candidacy

A powerful array of the Republican Party’s largest financial backers remain deeply resistant to Donald J. Trump’s presidential candidacy, forming a wall of opposition that could make it exceedingly difficult for him to meet his goal of raising $1 billion before the November election.

Interviews and emails with more than 50 of the Republican Party’s largest donors, or their representatives, revealed a measure of contempt and distrust toward their own party’s nominee that is unheard of in modern presidential politics.

This Could Be Donald Trump’s Biggest Lie
    How rich is he?

Donald Trump is really rich, right?

Well, he certainly says he is. His latest personal financial disclosure puts his wealth at $10 billion.

But no one actually knows if that’s true. Rigorous and objective analysis by reporters puts Trump’s wealth far below his self-reported status as a billionaire 10 times over, with most recent estimates pegging it at between $2.9-4.5 billion.

When Tim O’Brien wrote a 2005 biography of Trump, here’s what he found:
