Okay well that's just hurtful.

Well I would argue that this is mostly nonsense and demonstrates a complete misunderstanding of Atheism but apparently I am stupid, ignorant, and blind.

Sounds like something that idiot Ham would write.

As for the uneducated claims, whoever wrote that is totally ignorant of proper English, grammar, and syntax.

And of course, they have NO knowledge of the Constitution.

I actually broke out laughing part way through.

Substitute "religion" for "atheism" and it suddenly makes perfect sense.

Great point, and it's certainly a major part of religious and right-wing mental illness that they project their issues onto others.

Well, I'm an atheist, and I find this absolutely hilarious. It's so poorly written, tangent-ridden,
and full of circular reasoning and schoolyard insults that I can't work up a reaction beyond extreme mirth.

Some people are unbelievably threatened by the notion that a subset of humans don't accept the premise of a supernatural being. I certainly don't expect or require everyone to be an atheist. Why do some folks need universal human validation for their faith? Pretty sure I know the answer to that.

  8. I actually peed a little while I giggled at this (must see my doctor about that). Someone must have stayed up all night typing the whole letter with one index finger and squinting at their notes from Jesus camp last year.

    Riiiiiight...
Christians have never committed any atrocities like torture (Spanish Inquisition) or wars (Crusades).
Only Christians truly understand how the universe was created (magic).
Only Christians have ever celebrated the solstices and equinoxes. (Christmas, Easter...)
    sure

  10. I blew up the picture, read every line, and replied repeatedly "who says" and "prove it."

Where did I read it... science is ever self-questioning, ever self-correcting and ever searching for what else and what next. Religion starts with a fixed conclusion then looks around for things to back it up; the equivalent of shooting an arrow into a wall then drawing a bullseye around it.

One thing I would like to say is, the Lord is NOT fake. This Almighty God I serve is real. And I am not ashamed to claim Him.

BTW, I am a lifelong liberal Democrat. Contrary to popular belief there are just as many liberal Jesus followers/believers in God as there are conservative ones.

Atheists please don't make fun of us believers, as we don't make fun of you.

Everybody deserves to be tolerated for their belief, OR unbelief.

    Fair enough?

    1. So you want to tolerate Muslim honor killings, female circumcision, death over apostasy, and the subjugation of females as long as it is all done in the name of religion?

Or do you want to tolerate the dumbing down of our educational standards so as not to offend the fundamentalists?

Or perhaps the censoring of our books, movies, and television programs so as not to challenge the beliefs of a small number of people who follow a primitive superstition seems reasonable to you?

Any belief system which cannot stand up to scrutiny is not a belief system worthy of your faith.

5:40-- If you want to be tolerated for your belief, then at least be honest enough to admit that what you're asserting about God actually IS belief.

The Lord is not fake TO YOU. The Almighty God you serve is real TO YOU.

Say something like that, and I'll respect your right to your belief.. Assert that belief as objective fact, though?

      Well...respect, not so much.

Now I finally figured out why religious people need their imaginary God(s), they are truly just so afraid of life that they can't function or apparently think without someone telling them what to do. Hopefully in the next century it will get categorized as a mental illness so these people can get the medical treatment they need.

I beg to differ, a little. I think religion exists because people are afraid of dying. They can't imagine not being "here" so they make up a story that allows them an afterlife. Think of radical Islam and the 76 virgins that are just waiting for you. Think of dying and the obituary says of the Christian "Now she's in the arms of Jesus". Think of Hinduism and the belief in reincarnation. Think of the Rainbow Bridge when your pet dies. Think of all the folks who sincerely believe that they will be reunited with their loved ones "on the other side".
It's one's ego that cannot imagine nothingness, and VOILA -- pick your religion of choice.

ple , I'll give ya death but I'll keep life.
Religion makes sure people only like people just like them, they are the best and no one else is. It tells them what to feel, what to eat, to marry within, who to hate, when and under what conditions they are okay to feel sexuality to name a few.

I work with a bible thumper and the Grand Canyon came into a conversation yesterday. He goes on to say that pictures and video do it no justice, and one HAS to see it in person to enjoy it. I then had the last laugh by saying what it truly amazing is it's only 6000 years old. How did a river carve such a huge gap in such a short period of time I asked. He got up and walked away.

Why do they hate us so much if we're just pretending and don't really exist? And actually yes, we do have culture and holidays. I celebrate Easter (rabbits, chicks and candy, no bloody cross nailings), Summer Solstice, Halloween, Thanksgiving (no prayers, just the turkey and hoping that the whole Pilgrim/Indian friendship thing was real) Winter Solstice (feed the birds, decorate a tree) and Christmas (a combo of Yule/Santa with some baby Jesus songs thrown in for sentimentality). And every Friday I eat fish and pasta, kiss my picture of Johnny Depp and talk like a pirate. We try to bring a little of each of our respective beliefs to the table, that's how we make a mixed marriage like ours work!

Do any Atheists go to a building, re enact man's inhumanity to man, including a mass re enactment of cannibalism, substituting wine and bread for blood and flesh? Why don't they rotate what it says in the bible, turn a woman into a pillar of salt? loaves and fishes, walking on water etc. to make it more exciting? Most, if not all, of their rituals were stolen from pagans anyway.
    Thanks for the chuckles.
