Samantha Bee talks about "numbnut" Republican laws and takes Democrats to the woodshed for sleeping through the 2010 midterms.

Courtesy of Raw Story:

“After the 2010 landslide, policies started happening to states the way sex happens to people who drink with Bill Cosby.” Bee shows maps that color in the states that have done the most damage since 2010 restricting freedoms for everyone but gun owners. “No wonder Democrats are so hung up on appointing the next Supreme Court Justice. They need him to strike down all the sh*tty state laws that might not have passed if they’d bothered to vote in 2010.”

Bee closes with this: “Look, I know state elections aren’t fun. They don’t have cool concerts or dank memes. But, voting in them is important. Just think of it like a mammogram. It’s painful and inconvenient, but you gotta do it. Because early prevention prevents a lot less than late stage treatment.”

You know I totally feel Samantha Bee's pain here.

I personally feel that there are far more likely Democratic voters in this country than Republican voters by quite a large margin, but they are almost catatonic during midterm elections and seem to think that if there is no headliner to capture their attention that they can skip the party altogether without any real consequence.

But the consequences are all around us and we need to find a way to inspire, incite, and perhaps even frighten liberals to vote in every single, Municipal, State, and Federal election.

If we really want to make this country a better place we have to do the work to make that happen.

And don't forget your response to somebody working hard to keep you from exercising your rights as an American should be to work even harder to exercise those rights.

Dems did not sleep through 2010, many of them purposely stayed home to punish President Obama for not ramming through everything he promised on the campaign trail. What so many people do not understand is that a candidate can promise a lot of stuff but they have to work within the frame work of government once elected. That means most of the shit they promise (I am looking at your, Sanders) won't see the light of day, esp in THIS America.

I disagree. The midterms are notoriously light, voting wise, compared to presidential year elections. Primaries also are not well represented. I think of Bernie voters when I think of people who sleep through elections.

    I'll just leave this here....

"The head of the FBI on Wednesday appeared to challenge Hillary Clinton’s characterization of the federal investigation into her private email server.
Clinton and her allies have repeatedly called the probe a routine “security inquiry.”
But Director James Comey told reporters that wasn’t an accurate description.
"It's in our name. I'm not familiar with the term 'security inquiry,' " Comey said at a roundtable with reporters, according to Politico.
Instead, he said, it is an “investigation.”

The creation of that server has always been the original sin. It created an impossible burden for them in regards to the Federal Records Act, the handling and storage of classified materials in an unauthorized location, and a duty to protect all of it from being compromised. Even if they were 100% diligent in all of this, they still used it as private citizens which blows up the whole argument.

  5. Everyone is focusing on the bathroom/transgender aspects of the bill which is what the republicans here want. This way, no one notices that NC has pretty much tossed away the civil rights of anyone who is not a white, christian male.

because no one has read the entire bill, apparently not even the people signing it.

Exactly why the Hornets will leave in 30 days, performers will never play in NC again, and why companies are bailing left and right Who wants to move to a state that has no protections for you? NO ONE. No workers = no company.

This is exactly what concerns me with the Bernieites. They did not show up at the last election, April 5th, to vote for School Board Seats, Assembly Members and Props.
Registered Voters 209,909 - Cards Cast 51,999 - 24.77% of our community showed up. I don't know which is worse, that out of over 200, 000 citizens less than a quarter took the time to actually get their ass to the polls and vote. (Se: muni.org/elections for info)
Oh yeah, get the Bern folks to the caucus and make a stand, be it that they were so extremely rude and obnoxious and eager to show just how important they are, failed to show up for the actual election.
How do I know this info? BECAUSE TOO MANY REPUBLICANS AND THEIR PROPS PASSED WITH EASE. I mean, if 6,000 people showed up to the Democratic caucus then why didn't 6,000 Democrats show up to vote? That's what makes me nausous about Bernieites THEY WON'T SHOW UP AT THE MID-TERMS. I know Democrats have an abysmal record of pulling their weight in mid-terms and for the life of me, a Super Voter, can I explain it.
2010 Should have scared us to death as the baggers just took the damn place over like drunken sots. They cannot, and never will, know how to legislate AND THEY ARE PERFECTLY FINE WITH IT. That is what their Queen Dumbmoosenugget Palin intended for them to do and they fully followed her race off the sanity cliff.
While I was so excited about all of the young folks getting into the Presidential race behind Bernie I feel they are no better than the young folks that got behind President Obama in his 2008 election. Young folks DID NOT show up at the mid-terms then and I see, now, that the Bernieites will not show up at the 2018 which is terrifying. Especially since they are squeeling and pissin' their britches indicating they will NOT vote for Hillary in THIS election.

Just a basic inquiry here: How do you know it was only the Bernieites, as you call them, that didn't show up. Any proof it was, as you seem to imply, ALL of them who didn't show up? Seems to me that if only that per cent age showed up to vote, then it had to be more than just the people you are accusing. Other wise Bernie would already have the votes he needs to win the nomination!

Got any links you can show us to prove what you claim?

Donald Trump Promises To Appoint Anti-Abortion Justices To Supreme Court

The best way to ban abortion, he said, “is by electing me president.”

Asked on Fox News what one thing he would do to “protect the sanctity of life,” Trump told host Bill O’Reilly, “I will protect it, and the biggest way you can protect it is through the Supreme Court and putting people on the court. Actually, the biggest way you can protect it, I guess, is by electing me president.”

I just love Samantha Bee's humor. Make laws where you need a birth certificate to go potty, and mimicking the Governor's hand motions, she's spot on. We gotta get boycotts going, get out the vote like there's no tomorrow. I'd rather see negotiation and detante used as a first resort and forget the frigging wars.

Sit this one out at your own peril, but don't whine and complain with what you got, because you asked for it.

Of course Comedy Central couldn't have used Samantha Bee to replace Colbert or Stewart because women are not like...funny. Yah, right. Go Samantha.

    I think
(a)we're probably pretty close to being able come up with a viable method for voting over the internet. (Perhaps with something to do with our Social Security number?)
    and
    (b) when that happens, Democrats will begin winning by LARGE margins
