Traffic jam Alaska style.

Just up the street from my house.

I think the naughty cub is being taken into the woods for an ass-whoopin'.

Good to see at least one mother in Alaska knows how to control her children.

Good to see a mother who doesn't have her cubs take care of her cubs. Hint, hint, Sarah.

Don't even see the video, just blank space, on my computer using Firefox and while it appears on Edge, it does not run. Too bad as I'd love to see it!

Oh, Mamas of many species, including ours, have had those heart-stopping moments of having to rescue our little ones from getting away and into trouble. So glad everyone stopped for her and the cubs.

  10. Very cool. In my state of Washington, bears in the suburbs are considered nuisances. They are relocated once, with what is called a hard release, being chased deep into the woods by Karelian bear dogs. If the bear returns, it's humanely killed and the corpse is given to a local tribe for respectful handling and consumption. One of my friends eats the bears he kills, but it's not for me. I don't even like his venison pepperoni.

What I also find appealing here is the small four-lane highway with sparse traffic. After my husband dies of a host of agonizing Agent Orange-related diseases, I'll probably relocate either to Alaska or Maui.

Jesus, Jude, sorry to hear of your husband's state of health. A work buddy of mine lost a friend to AO related lymphoma. He handled stuff coming out of contaminated planes that flew over Vietnam.
Once again. So Sorry you're BOTH going thru this hell. hard to watch someone you love suffer and you can't do anything.
Anyway, I'm hoping he's having a better day. And you are too. I know there's no getting well from this.

I loved the video. Can't beat mother nature. We get smaller black bears, usually they run up a tree, the animal control folks tranquilize them, and they fall into a waiting net. They get checked by vets, then released in the wild. These things look like kittens compared to the bears in Alaska.

I've heard that there are a lot of dangerous bears in the Anchorage & Wasilla area. Is it legal to kill one if it threatens your property?

    1. Well of course you can kill a bear to defend yourself, your livestock, or your pets, but there will be an investigation, and the evidence better back up your story.

Oh and you have to harvest the meat as well or there will be a fine.

That cub looks cold ... teasing, I'm teasing.

I'm glad people stopped for the bears. Yet didn't put any of them in their cars.
