Okay now I have been willing to accept the idea that Bernie Sanders is for the most part an ethical guy.BREAKING: @BernieSanders camp asks for (and gets) another 45-day extension on filing personal financial disclosure pic.twitter.com/QUdjX6Dy8J— Dave Levinthal (@davelevinthal) June 30, 2016
However let me just say that this really does not make any sense.
Bernie Sanders (Oh I'm sorry I mean his wife Jane.) has had ample time to get his tax information ready to release to the public, and yet we still have not seen anything besides his 2014 returns, which quite frankly raised some concerns.
And let's not ignore the fact that this 45 day extension takes us past the date of the Democratic Convention, July 25-28, which means that after Sanders concedes and throws his support behind Hillary the press will probably no longer bother to ask him about this anymore.
And doesn't that you just a tad suspicious?
Cause it does me.
I've said it here before, and I'll say it again - Sanders is not in this for his "millions" of supporters. He is in it for Bernie Sanders. I think he started out to get a little attention and to keep Hillary to the left of center but the crowds and applause went to his head and Jane fancies herself a fine FLOTUS (sorry after Michelle, the bar is extremely high). He was just on Chris Hayes and I'm reminded all over again why this guy can go fuck himself. President Trump is not a joke - it can happen. Makes me sick to think about it.
ReplyDeleteI saw that interview on Chris Hayes too. Bernie is NOT a Democrat! He is an Independent. Did he bring up a lot of good issues and engage a lot of people? Yes. But the longer he drags this out the less effective he is. And if we wake up to President Trump on November 9...
DeleteYeah, agreed. Like, who am I go to believe, Sanders or Joe Biden? If Joe says that Bernie said he'd endorse Hillary, I believe Joe. Bernie hasn't been sought out of late by TV and you could see how much he was loving being interviewed by CH--he was back to his power trip and playing games.
Delete“This is a collect call from the Leavenworth Federal Penitentiary placed by the Hillary Clinton for President campaign. Will you accept her charges?"
DeleteWTF is up with that asshole. Someone should pull the buttplug out of his stinky old asshole. Fuck you bernie.
ReplyDeleteYet you ignore huge amounts of Clinton foundation shadiness?
Delete12:32am, this isn't a post about the clinton foundation. Do try to focus.
DeleteDoesn't put him in the blatantly transparent category now does it??? I thought more of him. Haven't seen a legitimate excuse regarding not producing the tax info. Proves we are not all perfect... but when you put your ass on the line, ya better have your phucking ducks in a row. He knew this was coming, and to not deliver.... not good... smh
ReplyDeleteTotally agree. Plus it doesn't help in terms of the Dems' demand for Trump to show his tax records. There is so much coming out that lets us know Trump is far crookeder than we thought, but we need the tax returns now, and it sure would be nice if Bernie were transparent so as to aid the Dems' demand.
DeleteAnonymous at 12:32 What shadiness? The Clinton Foundation is highly rated and uses over 89% of the money that is donated to directly finance global efforts for the people in need. You clearly wish to believe all the RW B.S. published about Hillary but I'll bet you deny everything published about Bernie. Right?
DeleteWho wants someone who knows the rules but is too lazy or thinks they don't apply to him for office? It takes one phone call to an accountant, how hard can that be? Next request. "May I get a pre paid envelope to send them in? You wanted them, not me"
ReplyDeleteActually he only proved partial returns for 2014.
ReplyDeleteHe has also been late turning in his financials that are required by the Senate ethics committee.
I am sure Bernie must know he is required to keep on hand the last 7 years of tax returns for the IRS, so where is he hiding them? Did the dog eat his computer?
I still say he is hiding his Wall St investments and will continue to say so until Bernie proves me a liar !!
What's weird is that one does not have to disclose investments unless one does not reinvest dividends or reduces his or her tax burden by opening an IRA prior to 4/15. I can't think of any reason he'd not want to file or show his returns.
DeleteDid you read his excuse?
ReplyDelete-current campaign scheduled duties
I swear, if Bernie turns the convention into a circus I hope Obama and Biden put him in time out.
WTF?! Bernie and tRump both refuse. Definitely is something fishy there.
ReplyDeleteHow does the saying go? "Where there is smoke, there is fire"?
He's a joke. Now he says he won't endorse until Hillary accepts all of his demands.
ReplyDeleteNot sure I remember when the loser gets to call the shots. Time for Obama and Biden to slam this loser into his place.
Biden says he'll endorse and now Bernie looks like a fool denying it ... is he trying to make Biden look like a liar?
Exactly. Everyone trusts Joe!
DeleteHe is still hiding just how much Jane took out of Burlington college after she ran it into the ground.
ReplyDeleteAs for his "campaign duty" excuse, where and how did his campaign make statements on the two very recent SCOTUS decisions? I guess he was too busy Helping Jane look for their tax returns.
Bernie is a loser and an unethical loser at that.
Trig could figure this one out - "BULLSHIT".
ReplyDeleteThanks for that link, Gryphen, I hadn't seen that before.
ReplyDeleteSo he and Jane make $200-250,000 per year and pay only 15 fucking percent ?!!
Who's the fucking elitist now, Bernie?!
Read it again. They only pay 13.5 percent.
Delete13.5 percent!
DeleteAnd I wonder how much they donate to causes. Yes Hillary and Bill make millions, but they donate 10% to charities. Do Bernie and Jane? Well, and we know Trump doesn't and he's a billionaire. Hillary has her problems, but being a shady tightwad isn't one of them.
DeleteRead it again. They only pay 13.5 percent.
Delete------------
Yea and he wants to raise taxes on the middle class and poor to pay for free college, free this, free that.
I'm betting it's that they show a profit (personal) from an investment in the property that Jane bought and which tanked that college.
ReplyDeleteOh BS! As a member of the Senate he has to file yearly financial disclosures. Take the last frigging submittal and add any updates. It's not hard!
ReplyDeleteHe's a fucking sexist pig. He would never do this to a male opponent. Ugh!
ReplyDeleteI spent the evening in the company of a Bernie Bot. I did not start the conversation, but she, knowing I was a Hillary supporter, jumped right in and declared that Bernie won California, but was thwarted by voter fraud of the DNC. My friend is convinced that Bernie actually won the nomination. She is over seventy and college educated. Supported Obama in 2008 and 2012. She says she is waiting for Hillary to "speak to her" to convince her to vote for her. She ticked off all the Bernie Talking Points. It was painful to hear and others in our group, mostly Canadians, could not understand why she was still talking about Bernie as they are more concerned that the US will make the same mistake as the Brits (Brexit) and vote for Trump. It was embarrassing to listen to her foolishness,
ReplyDeletePlease tell her that Bernie FIRED his CA campaign manager in late April and had zero campaign infrastructure built here. Tell her, please, that CA is way too big to win with mid-sized rallies of only 13,500, like he had in Los Angeles. Tell her that Bernie's phone-banking never exceeded 1/4 of their original target, because they had so few volunteers calling CA. Tell her Clinton won CA in 2008 over Barack Obama, and had the whole Democratic party behind her here. Tell her the mail-in votes had Clinton +17 on the day before election day, and that Bernie's people tried to sue the state because their people had not bothered to register for the Democratic party or to correctly ask for an NPP ballot. But a judge threw the suit out because it was without merit.
DeleteBut most of all, tell her Clinton had won the primary by the time New Jersey was called.
Google clinton+PUMAs - there is nothing new happening here. Virtually all the Sanders supporters I know (including me) were already in the so-called "Elizabeth Warren wing of the Democratic party" and were never "his" to deliver to anyone. Politically, he blew it when he failed to endorse Clinton - he could have done that and still had influence to move the party platform to the left. I think he has squandered the political capital he had built over the campaign. Since New York, and certainly since Nevada, I find him quite easy to ignore. When it comes to whether he's a "real" Democrat, I want to point out that he's been a more reliable Democratic vote than have a lot of Dems - including our party chair. I care a lot more about his votes than I do about whether he and the Dems are married or just living together.
DeleteI'm sick of hearing Bernie say he'll do everything he can to defeat Trump. I want to hear him say he'll do everything he can to get Hillary elected as President. Otherwise, there are two meanings to his words. He's playing with fire. If he had endorsed Hillary as she did President Obama, despite a far, far closer loss to him, he could have gone back to the Senate with his head held high and commanded respect. This is why Hillary had the support of all his colleagues, she earned their respect when she endorsed President Obama and then campaigned 100% for him. She then went to work for him as his SOS and campaigned again in 2012 and Bill brought the house down at the convention with his rousing speech and endorsement for four more years of President Obama. This is what real Democratic Party members do to get a Democratic candidate elected. Bernie's b.s. about the platform is old news and doesn't fly anymore. He made a big mistake and lost any chance at going back to the Senate with hopes of being a leader when he appointed Cornell West, a man who has trashed President Obama repeatedly, as a delegate. Bernie is in this for Bernie. Everything he does and says proves it. If he cared about the taxpayers we wouldn't still be footing the bill for unnecessary SS protection on a daily basis for this old man. It's time for him to bow out and it won't be graceful any way he does out because we're well past that.
DeleteThis is what ticks me off. Jane is supposedly the one who is doing their taxes.
ReplyDeleteWhy did Jane go to Rome?
How come we see Jane at rallies?
How come we seen Jane at the White House when Bernie went there?
How come we seen Jane at the Capitol when Bernie returned there?
They also said that Jane is a campaign advisor.
ME THINKS THE SANDERS ARE UNETHICAL
Of course Jane can't do their taxes because she is like a clingy girlfriend following Bernie wherever he goes.
Why can't Jane go home and do their taxes or hire someone?
@8:57, those are questions I've been asking. Either you find the time to do your taxes, or you hire one of the many tax preparers to do it for you. Simple as that.
DeleteI like to think the best of people, but the Sanders have squandered my faith in Bernie. I believe they are hiding things that he hypocritically preaches against. I'd rather be proven wrong, but don't think that will happen.
How come we see Bill climbing on a plane with Attorney General Lynch? How come we see Bill at polling sites, and why had the Secret Service blocked the the only parking area within blocks of the polling site?
DeleteLeave Sen Sanders alone! Sen Sanders is requesting a 45 day extension for good cause to file his personal financial disclosure to the FEC due to his current campaign schedule and duties as stated in the letter to the FEC. .
ReplyDeleteSen Bernie Sanders is prepping for his next debate with Sec Hillary Clinton as well as prepping for his next five rallies.
SNARK!
Ugh. This guy has turned out to be SUCH a sleazy hypocrite.
ReplyDeleteFree college, free health care, $15/hr. minimum wage, etc. etc. etc. How BS?
ReplyDeleteHe can't even get one personal report in on time. I told you all reading this blog, again and again, that the man is lazy and was kicked out of the commune years ago because he only talked and would not do tasks or carry his share of the load. He did not have a job until age 31! How stupid does a person have to be to support or vote for Sanders or Trump?
Remember BS wrote decades ago that he wants the young teenage girls to have lots of success because it will prevent breast cancer when they become adults. Google it and get your shit together, get to the polls and vote for the two women who know how to get something done because they have brains they use. Let's make history!
Bernie and every other congresscritter has to file a public financial disclosure report every year and it has nothing to do with taxes.
ReplyDeleteIf you want to know what one looks like this is the President's 2015 report
http://tinyurl.com/zbj88b8
Yes, but he was late disclosing those also.
DeleteJane from Accounting said months ago that the returns were ready to go and would be posted in the next couple of days.
ReplyDeleteThat same week she also claimed that they HAD been posted.
Jane has learned a thing or two from Sarah Palin.
Like I am going to trust the economy of the US to a pair of idiots who can't get their taxes done on time? Nope.
ReplyDeleteThis latest just disgusts me. President Obama has gotten his taxes done way before the deadline and has released them to the press every year. And he has a real job - president of the United States! Would the burdens of the office of the president mean that Sanders would never file income taxes or required income reports were he to become president? Now we know what an absolute fake he is. He and Jane should simply disappear from the public eye after apologizing to every member of the Democratic Party for having made a mess of the Democratic primaries and process this past year.
ReplyDeleteBeaglemom
No Sanders Taxes
ReplyDeleteNO SECRET SERVICE FOR THAT BITCH!
He needs the extra time to convince superdelegates to switch their allegiance from Hillary to him. That's a slow, painstaking, entirely futile process and we should give him all the time he needs.
ReplyDeleteTHIS MIGHT BE A TAD LONG BUT PLEASE READ WHAT SANDERS IS GETTING AWAY WITH (my interpretation)
ReplyDeleteThis has to do with Sanders requesting a 45 day extension to turn in OGE FORM 278. OGE Form 278 is a form for the "EXECUTIVE BRANCH" which Sanders is not part of. Sanders is part of the "LEGISLATIVE BRANCH".
I believe the Federal Election Committee is requesting this form for the presidential electiion and not Sanders current Congress job.
The 2016 Democratic Convention will be held at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia July 25th-28th, 2016.
The Federal Election Committee approved Sanders request for a 45 day extension to turn in his taxes which the FEC said he has until August 15, 2016.
Why did the FEC approved the effing 45 day extension? The DNC will be over by then. So what incentive does Sanders have to submit his taxes to the FEC?
######
THE OGE 278 FORM:
PUBLIC FINANCIAL DISCLOSURE GUIDE:
Welcome to the Public Financial Disclosure Guide, a web-based set of instructions for completing and reviewing the "EXECUTIVE BRANCH" Personnel Public Financial Disclosure Report (OGE Form 278e) and the supplemental Periodic Transaction Report (OGE Form 278-T).
The Executive Branch:
From the President, to the Vice President, to the Cabinet,
The Legislative Branch:
The United States Congress is made up of the House of Representatives and the Senate.
OGE 278 must be filed by "IIa: a. Candidates for nomination or election to the office of President or Vice President."
DeleteThat said, it doesn't look like a particularly challenging document to fill out, with broad categories to check like "$100,000-250,000." Jane could do by guessing, or just taking the numbers from their 2015 taxes. Which they have done at this point, right Jane? Right, Jane? JANE!!!! RIIIGGGHHHT???
https://www.usaid.gov/sites/default/files/documents/1869/OGE-278%20(Public%20Financial%20Disclosure%20Report).pdf
Sanders won't need to submit Public Disclosure Form OGE 278 because Hillary will be awarded the Democratic Presidential Nominee on July 28th and Sanders will be off the hook to submit the form anymore (on Aug 15th). Meantime Jane and Bernie are you enjoying the $38,000 a day Secret Service the United States of America taxpayers are paying for?
ReplyDeleteYes we are enjoying the Secret Service. Thank you suckas.
