Carl Bernstein calls Donald Trump, a "pathological liar" and a "neofascist." Sounds right to me.

Courtesy of Raw Story:

Trump has “shown himself throughout this campaign to be a pathological liar,” Bernstein stated.”There’s very little truth that comes out of his mouth, so let’s start there.”

“Really, this is about a candidate for president of the United States who does not believe in a free press,” he exclaimed. “He keeps talking about changing libel laws and suing the press and has instituted many, many lawsuits throughout his career. The underlying story here is who is Donald Trump? And I will say, and have said, that we are seeing the nominee of a major political party for the first time in our history, who is a neofascist, a particular kind of neofascist — a strong man who doesn’t believe in democratic institutions.”

“His bigotry is evident and we need to keep looking at it, but this is a story of a candidate who is a total break in our history and we need to be doing reporting on it, not just debating it on television,” he continued.

It looks like Trump's free ride with the press is coming to a screeching halt.

Yeah it was all fun and games and high ratings a few months back, but now that he is this close to winning the White House, shit just got real.

Personally I would argue that shit was getting real way back when Trump, Cruz, and Kasich were the only three GOP candidates still standing. Because not ONE of those guys should ever get close the Oval Office in my opinion.

Once we get passed this campaign season it will really be time for the press, and especially the cable news outlets, to sit down and reassess how they cover presidential candidates.

I think it's abundantly clear that the Donald Trump candidacy would not even have existed if not for the eager cooperation it enjoyed from various news agencies.

P.S. By the way reports are coming in right now that Trump has fired his controversial campaign manager Corey Lewandowski.

Courtesy of the New York Daily News:

Donald Trump is reportedly dumping his hothead campaign manager Corey Lewandowski, only weeks into the real estate mogul's disastrous general election run.

Good now the news media can cover the disintegration of the campaign that they helped to create.

So Trump has kicked Lewandowski to the curb in an effort to placate the Republican base. Trump hopes this give comfort to the worried Republicans. LOL

Well, well, well. We all know now what kind of a person Donald J. Trump is and as far as I'm concerned, trying to put lipstick on that racist etc etc pig at this late date is futile.

It's not the base he's concerned about, he has Cletus's vote wrapped up. He's now trying to romance the establishment and quell their fears about him.

If he'd just roll over, pick an old school VP with some experience and become a puppet like W was then they'd get behind them. It's his rogue behavior that has them worried because they need a "yes" man in the white house to do the establishment's bidding.

      -----------
Just minutes after his departure was announced, Trump adviser Michael Caputo tweeted, "Ding dong the witch is dead!" and included a link to the song from the film, "The Wizard of Oz."

A few hours later, Caputo was gone, too.

The aide was to have served as Trump's director of communications at next month's convention, but Hicks confirmed late in the day that he was no longer with the campaign.

Now that Lewendowski is gone, who will Maneforte blame for the screw-ups? Its not like Manaforte has done anything since being hired.

Objectively, and I hate to say this but Lew did lead the campaign to a cheap success by playing on the publics' hate. Lew is a horrible man but Trump supported if not encouraged his behavior.

Now Trump and his campaign want to take the moral high road. Please, they bled him dry and now they want him to be a pariah so they look good. The Trumps use people and discard them at will.

Managing to once again strike her trademark balance between being hateful and bonkers, Trump surrogate Sarah Palin took to Facebook this week to do some target practice on President Obama. In a rant some speculate might have been an instance of drunken Facebooking, Palin hauled out her ALL CAPS mode to call the president “A SPECIAL KIND OF STUPID.”

Apparently, she, errrr, thinks this (and we use the word “think” loosely) because Obama has suggested that easy access to high-capacity assault rifles had something to do with the horrific mass shooting in Orlando. “Enough is enough, Mr. President,” Palin slurred, perhaps channeling the mad mom voice she uses with her young children. “There’s no ‘due respect’ due you after pulling this stunt

  10. There is evil in the world, no doubt about it. This POS (Lawyer Roy Cohn -- Trump's mentor -- now dead of AIDS) surely is the embodiment of it. Trump learned from the worst.

Cohn showed Trump how to exploit power and instill fear through a simple formula: attack, counterattack and never apologize.

Since he announced his run for the White House a year ago, Trump has used such tactics more aggressively than any other candidate in recent memory, demeaning opponents, insulting minorities and women, and whipping up anger among his supporters.

Cohn gained notoriety in the 1950s as Sen. Joseph McCarthy's chief counsel and the brains behind his hunt for communist infiltrators. By the 1970s, Cohn maintained a powerful network in New York City, using his connections in the courts and City Hall to reward friends and punish those who crossed him.

Long article, well worth the read.

    We’ve Lost

Taking heart at Donald Trump’s plummeting favorability numbers? You think he maybe finally jumped the shark by taking a victory lap over the Orlando massacre? You think the Republic is now safe?

It isn’t. The Republic is already sick. It’s like we had a bad clam — a steady diet of bad clams - and the convulsions aren’t likely to stop soon.

Whether or not a particular martinet ignoramus wins the presidency in November, America and our idealized notion of it have been sullied forever. We thought we were sooooo special. e pluribus unum. “Give me your tired, your poor...” Equal protection under the law. The American Way. How we flaunted our exceptionalism and condescended to the lesser democracies, with their ugly nationalism and crappy militaries but our KFCs.

Old-world losers. Look at us! We’ve got ethnic news anchors and rainbow bumper stickers and chief diversity officers and female CEOs of dying tech companies. We’re practically a Benetton ad! Aren’t we something.

Yes, we are something. We are self-deluding on a grand scale.

Let’s start with the inconvenient fact that 13,300,472 Americans cast their primary votes for Donald Trump. Notwithstanding his recent popularity plunge, if polls are correct and the election were held today he’d still collect 40 percent of the vote. Which is in the neighborhood of 50 million.

Fifty million — pulling the lever for a pathological liar, peddler of vile racist, misogynist, xenophobic ravings and sneering trampler of our most fundamental American values. Not to mention the Constitution, with which he seems unfamiliar. Not to mention a personality I’d call infantile, if I weren’t afraid of insulting infants. And tiles.

Fifty million Americans are for that.

...The problem is, what’s happening now isn’t some transitory blip; it’s the culmination of a 40-year campaign, an incessant drumbeat of grievance against minority rights, gun control, same-sex marriage, secularization, tax-and-spend Big Government, climate hoax, “job killing” regulation, feminism and the rest of a sinister Liberal Agenda that amounts, of course, to tyranny.

Yes, Trump is riding a wave of resentment, but this isn’t a natural ocean, it’s a wave pool at a bizarro theme park, operated by the Heritage Foundation, the American Family Association, Fox News Channel, the NRA, Mark Levin, the Club for Growth, the American Enterprise Institute, Rush Limbaugh, Ann Coulter, Breitbart and the Tea Party. Trump’s calumnies are little more than a “Best of” collection from the Great Rightwing Conspiracy.

What Donald Trump Learned From Joseph McCarthy’s Right-Hand Man

...Decades later, Mr. Cohn’s influence on Mr. Trump is unmistakable. Mr. Trump’s wrecking ball of a presidential bid — the gleeful smearing of his opponents, the embracing of bluster as brand — has been a Roy Cohn number on a grand scale. Mr. Trump’s response to the Orlando massacre, with his ominous warnings of a terrorist attack that could wipe out the country and his conspiratorial suggestions of a Muslim fifth column in the United States, seemed to have been ripped straight out of the Cohn playbook.

“I hear Roy in the things he says quite clearly,” said Peter Fraser, who as Mr. Cohn’s lover for the last two years of his life spent a great deal of time with Mr. Trump. “That bravado, and if you say it aggressively and loudly enough, it’s the truth — that’s the way Roy used to operate to a degree, and Donald was certainly his apprentice.”
