Debbie Wasserman Schultz out as Hillary Clinton takes control of the DNC.

Courtesy of HuffPo:

Debbie Wasserman Schultz has handed the day-to-day operations of the Democratic Party over to Clinton’s hand picked operator Brandon Davis.

Davis assumes the role of Chief of Staff, but in reality, he will be running the Democratic National Committee until a new Chairperson is selected at this year’s convention. He is currently the national political coordinator for the Service Employees International Union (SEIU).

Wasserman-Schultz will retain her title in name only until the Democratic party votes on a successor.

The Bronx cheer you’re hearing as you read this article is coming from Vermont, where Bernie Sanders fans are cheering the departure of the southern Florida congresswoman known as DWS.

Personally I really have no opinion about Wasserman Schultz one way or the other, but  to me this feels like Clinton buckling under to demands from Bernie Sanders.

If this has been what Clinton was going to do all along, then fine. But if she is doing it to get Sanders to endorse or support her I wonder if she is not demonstrating weakness rather than strength to a guy who is clearly still wrestling for some kind of influence over the Democratic party.

Oh, I'm sorry. Actually he is still fighting for the nomination.

Courtesy of  Politico:

Asked to answer "yes or no" whether Sanders is still running for president, Weaver was unequivocal.

“Yes, he is. Yes, he is. Yes, he is," Weaver said. "He is an active candidate for president, yes.

Well, so much for accepting the will of the voters.

As I have said in the past Clinton should not negotiate with this guy, he is now essentially a political terrorist who it appears is not so much trying to change the DNC for the better, but rather destroy it from within.

Remember to Bernie Sanders Fidel Castro is a hero, and the Democrats and Republicans are essentially the same

If *anything* were about to happen to HRC's nomination, VP Biden would be suiting up. He's not. Bernie's revolution never happened. Hashtags and rallies amounted to very little. But hey, you paid for it!

I read that this is traditional for the nominee to bring in his or her own team head. Howard Dean did the same in 2008 when Obama was the nominee and brought in his guy. Sad that Weaver is trying to take credit on behalf of Bernie for this move.

Bernie is behaving like the old man who refuses to retire. Because he is.

DWS' term was up this year anyway, and she had said she wasn't interested in another one. I think it is pretty par for the course for the presidential nominee to take the reins, but I may be wrong. Brandon Davis is young and very passionate, organized and informed, so I think he's a great choice. Hopefully this wasn't a concession to Bernie, but if his main focus has shifted from income inequality and the middle/working class to foot-stomping about "unfairness" at the DNC . . . well, I guess that says a lot about who he really is.

    Sanders loses convention leverage
Bernie's summer was supposed to be about strengthening his hand for the Democratic convention. But since the California primary, his position has gotten weaker.

BURLINGTON, Vt. — Leverage: it’s the one thing Bernie Sanders’ advisors and aides consistently point to when asked why, exactly, he’s formally staying in the Democratic primary race that he’s lost to Hillary Clinton.
But it's the one thing he’s been bleeding every day ever since he dropped California’s primary by a much wider-than-expected margin last week. Sanders’ summer was supposed to be all about building leverage for the Democratic convention, providing him with a better hand to play as he presses Clinton to accept his policy positions and party reform suggestions. Now, the people closest to him aren’t sure how exactly to get it back.

His first and most prominent endorsers have jumped off the bandwagon, congratulating and in some cases endorsing Clinton — from Sen. Jeff Merkley to Rep. Raul Grijalva, and from the Communications Workers of America to MoveOn.org.Each of the big-name Democrats and groups who steadfastly remained neutral in the primary have flocked to Clinton over the past week, from President Barack Obama to Sen. Elizabeth Warren to the AFL-CIO. Even Sanders' highest-profile congressional endorsee, Nevada’s Lucy Flores, lost her primary bid on Tuesday despite his cash injection into her campaign.

I can't wait to see Trump trounced by a woman in Nov. My one fear is that the anti-Trump movement will gain steam with this "vote your conscience" thing going on with the delegates, and Trump will actually pull out of the race so that he can't get killed by Hillary (and by all of us who hate that asshole).

For some reason no one is mentioning the fact that her job was coming to and end anyway and being fully objective. This is not about Bernie. Plus Hillary does loves her and she is as loyal as they come. She was one of Hillary's women in yellow back in 2008 and has been a great supporter of Hillary and women. And speaking of those ladies, I so wish Stephanie Tubbs Jones of Ohio were alive to see this, to see Hillary as the nominee and surely as the first woman president. She was such a great surrogate for Hillary. And during the primary season of 2016 she'd have been a great counter to Bernie's female African American surrogate from Ohio who's often on TV. I'm from Ohio and would have loved seeing this.

It's not really clear what you mean by "the whole course". We still have two major political parties. (Or maybe 1.5, but that was Trump's doing.) National level positions (e.g. president) are still fought for at the state level, rather than nationally. States still determine the membership of the Electoral College, and it's still the person who gets the most electoral college votes (not to be confused with the "popular" vote—the people) who is elected President.

Tell us more, please, what you mean by the WHOLE course.

I used to think Wasserman had a lot going for her and the Democratic Party. However, it looks to me like she was more supportive of payday lenders ripping off poor people than she was supportive of protecting poor people from payday lenders. And that really bothers me. So, if she's out the door, then that's okay with me.

Warren got DWS to reverse her position on that.

There were complaints before Bernie b/c some people thought some elections were too close and they blamed DWS. Whatever is true, and even if she hasn't been the best choice for the position she's had taken from her (although in truth she was planning on leaving it fairly soon anyway and this letting go also now allows her to focus all her energy on her own reelection in the House), I've always liked her and she has been great speaking on the floor of the House and on TV in interviews related to issues with the GOP laziness/lack of moral courage and the Dems' issues.

Agree 12:11. I always liked DWS for her loyalty to Hillary and support of Dems. I'm glad she can now focus on her re-election campaign after a job well done for the DNC.

I see the FBI indictment drone is all over the comments while going through the denial stage of grief. Poor dear may need medication and supervision later this year. He/she is not well. Our other mentally ill poster (Alicia) is also deluded like this poor soul.

      The FBI doesn't do indictments.
They investigate for criminal activity and forward their findings with recommendations to the DoJ who then decide whether or not to hand down indictments.

2:00 - Everyone here knows that. That's one reason we all know there will be no indictments. There's no way AG Loretta Lynch will offer any indictment of HRC, especially as no laws were broken.

I follow Bill Moyers & Company website and Moyers has been one of the many vocal critics of DWS. If you are a liberal, you may find his columns informative on the current state of USA politics. His website can be found at:

    http://billmoyers.com/

One of the items he educated me on is that DWS "opened the floodgates for Big Money", According to Moyers, "So, too, has her abolition of the restraints that had been placed on corporate lobbyists and big money — now they can write checks bankrolling what doubtless will be swank and profligate parties during this summer’s Democratic National Convention. At The Intercept, Lee Fang and Zaid Jilani report that a number of the members of the Philadelphia host committee “are actively working to undermine progressive policies achieved by President Barack Obama, including health care reform and net neutrality. Some… are hardly even Democratic Party stalwarts, given that many have donated and raised thousands of dollars for Republican presidential and congressional candidates this cycle.”

DWS needed to go, whether you supported Hillary or Bernie. And her support of Payday Loans has softened but the details are still very sketchy. Here is his take on the new rules for Payday Lending:

"As drafted, the CFPB rule would allow lenders to continue to make high-cost loans, such as a line of credit with a 15-percent transaction fee and 299-percent interest rate, or a $1,250 loan on which the borrower would repay a total of $3,700 in fees, interest and principal,” Bourke wrote. “These and many other high-cost payday installment loans are already on the market in most states, and they will thrive if the regulation takes effect without change."

    Follow the money.

I did "follow the money" of the negative Clinton TV ads in Bernie's stead in Ca and the "big money" lead back to republican Karl Rove.

Thank you for posting that up.
Moyers is wise and tells it like it is.
Some of the folks round these parts just don't get it and will slurp up the tripe and take it as gospel.

2:39 Please help me understand how the republicans putting up an TV ad which is negative towards Sec . Clinton and is positive for Sen. Sanders places the Senator in the republican fold? That is the impression your trying to present is it not? I don't think Bernie likes Karl.

When did Bernie disavow those ads?

He sure didn't speak out against the ads run for his campaign. Like the poster above stated, follow the money and it leads right to reichwinger Karl ROve.

So because Sen. Saunders does not speak out against an ad which he had nothing to do with, an Ad which was against the competing candidate for the office he is running for, makes him a republican sympathizer? Is this what you trying to persuade us to believe? I really think you need a little more experience on this elections thing.

5:09 - Yes, that's right. For someone who claims that he's for election finance reform, he did not have the decency to speak out against the American Crossroad/Karl Rove ads used to help him? What a hypocrite he is!

I don't think this is any big deal. It makes sense to have a central campaign if the other elections are going to be managed to best effect. There's no sense in doubling up, whether data or personnel.

    Compromise is not a weakness
...rather, it is the REAL "art of the deal".

And, hey, Gryff - Debbie Wasserman Schultz was NOT that great as DNC chair. DWS was pretty damned incompetent if you ask me.
And I LIKE DWS - she just wasn't good at that job.
